[Q] UPSM, how to trigger? - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I've got a SGS 5 plus (with Ultra Power Saving Mode). I want to trigger this mode from tasker. (at, for instance 5% battery level)
Who knows how to fire up UPSM from within Tasker? (is there an intent?)
Thnx!

upsm is not in secure settings plugin. (just the "normal" saving mode)

I don't have the Samsung stock ROM installed as I switched to CM, but I'm quite sure that UPSM is supported by Secure Settings plugin.

[Q] Llama; Car mode vs. Hands Free mode?

So I was using the Hands free mode, then I tried to start it with Llama and it only has a car mode not a hands free mode. So I selected it and sure enough it goes into car mode and says car mode but it isn't the same as hands free mode which you can concurrently select too. Car mode doesn't have the same Svoice menu, it shows like the normal one.
Anyway, what are the differences and did you know there was a hiding mode that you cant get into from the settings?

Well so far besides the SVoice being different it doesn't read out text that come in.
I emailed the developer and he said basically this is a Samsung specific difference, car vs. hands free that is.
Wish I could figure out how to set and un-set the power save mode too. There are times when driving that the lower auto screen brightness (which is all I use power save for) is too dim. I can set to a certain % but that isn't dynamic based on light input.

Hands Free Mode is Samsung specific. If you install the "Secure Settings" plugin, it has "Driving Mode" in "Samsung Modes" under "Custom ROM Actions" and that will enable/disable Hands Free Mode. Driving Mode is the old name for Hands Free Mode.
Secure Settings conforms to Tasker & Locale plugin formats and it's actions can be used by Llama with the "Locale plugin" action in Llama.

The Secure Settings Samsung options (mentioned in my post above) are: Toggle Blocking, Driving and Power Saver Modes, so you can set that with Llama too.

Thank you so much! I can confirm that on my Note 3, toggle driving mode under Samsung Modes actually toggles Hands-Free mode.
Ah yes. Just got around to trying this and did see the settings.
I found another way of doing it by setting my bluetooth as a "my place" under location services, and then (ah crap I cant remember or find it) somehow I set when bluetooth came on it new it was in "car" and car put it in hands free mode.
If anyone can figure out how I did that I would like to know again.
Sorry

Ultra power save mode

Hello, maybe there is way to make ultra power save mode for I9505?
This would be nice!
Someone must have to patch display drivers to make it possible I guess

All in one
You can try to search "all in one s5 apps for s4"

App or feature to schedule UPSM

Day 1 with phone and first charge didn't make it through the night. The ultra power saving mode sounds really promising - anyone seen an app or feature that could set UPSM on and off on a schedule? Or auto-enable it at say 10% power? I hope that's not obvious in the settings and I missed it, I couldn't find anything like it.
Tasker maybe?

It's hard to believe Samsung didn't build that feature in. But they didn't. Taker is a good idea, someone give it a try.

I bought Tasker and installed to try it out. I was able to set up a profile with tasks for standard settings like radio, bluetooth, mobile data. But I don't see a way to access UPSM as an action. The ability to launch Settings and click a button seems to require root. SecureSettings plugin didn't seem to add any new abilities that would help with this. I'm not too familiar with Tasker so if anyone has an idea on a method to execute upsm I would try it. Seems like samsung would at least put in the option to auto-enable at a certain percentage battery remaining.
Close but no cigar
While im no tasker guru, i have had slight sucsess through starting UPSM. The profiles starts when the batery is below 10% but only launches the UPSM setting screen. Its found under: App/Launch App and you need st select all in the bottom left. This only launches the setting screen, you then need to enable it and select okay. I have been trying to find a way to pass arguments to UPSM but lack the knolege...
I was going to ask the same questions.
Have you had any success on making UPSM turn on automatically at night?

Ultra Power Saving Mode

Hello guys,
I just purchased the S5 and it is a very impressive phone. With that said I am very intrigued by the new "Ultra Power Saving" mode. Here are my two questions:
1) Is there a way to get emails working (Exchange) even if that means that they get only checked every x minutes compared to push mode? I don't have the option to enable Email but when I received a notification and I clicked on the email notification, the email app opened but after a couple of seconds the phone just rebooted itself.
2) Is there a way to enable BlueTooth Gear Manager? BlueTooth is an option within the Ultra Power Saving mode but I cannot start Gear Manager.
If I could get those 2 items working I would be super happy and I would only switch to the normal mode for advanced functions.
Thanks in advance guys.
What I do is I have lmt and use that to use all the apps.It takes around half the battery it takes on normal. As far as Bluetooth is concerned I don't think u can.If this works on htc Iam sure lmt with root would work on S5

hmmmm
There must be an easier way. The list of allowed apps in Ultra Power Saving mode must be stored somewhere. If we could add the "email" app to that list this would take care of the first problem and maybe the second one too.
