So I was using the Hands free mode, then I tried to start it with Llama and it only has a car mode not a hands free mode. So I selected it and sure enough it goes into car mode and says car mode but it isn't the same as hands free mode which you can concurrently select too. Car mode doesn't have the same Svoice menu, it shows like the normal one.
Anyway, what are the differences and did you know there was a hiding mode that you cant get into from the settings?

Well so far besides the SVoice being different it doesn't read out text that come in.
I emailed the developer and he said basically this is a Samsung specific difference, car vs. hands free that is.
Wish I could figure out how to set and un-set the power save mode too. There are times when driving that the lower auto screen brightness (which is all I use power save for) is too dim. I can set to a certain % but that isn't dynamic based on light input.

Hands Free Mode is Samsung specific. If you install the "Secure Settings" plugin, it has "Driving Mode" in "Samsung Modes" under "Custom ROM Actions" and that will enable/disable Hands Free Mode. Driving Mode is the old name for Hands Free Mode.
Secure Settings conforms to Tasker & Locale plugin formats and it's actions can be used by Llama with the "Locale plugin" action in Llama.
See intangibleobject.com/about for more info

The Secure Settings Samsung options (mentioned in my post above) are: Toggle Blocking, Driving and Power Saver Modes, so you can set that with Llama too.

Thank you so much! I can confirm that on my Note 3, toggle driving mode under Samsung Modes actually toggles Hands-Free mode.
Ah yes. Just got around to trying this and did see the settings.
I found another way of doing it by setting my bluetooth as a "my place" under location services, and then (ah crap I cant remember or find it) somehow I set when bluetooth came on it new it was in "car" and car put it in hands free mode.
If anyone can figure out how I did that I would like to know again.
Sorry

[Q&A] Silent mode missing after 5.0 lollipop update on Galaxy S5? Now priority mode.
Edit: solution below (4th post). But be cerful for disabling your alarms.
<rant>
I have a Galaxy S5 SM-G900F. As a power user i need to factory reset my phone every half year to keep it running smooth. Since it was time for that anyway, i combined a fresh start with flashing the official polish 5.0 lollipop S5 rom (the updated one
PDA: G900FXXU1BNL7 ). It looks and works great. Ok, more blacks would work better with the amoled screen and it can easily take 2-3 seconds to open the task switcher, which is extra annoying if you have to also use it to jump to another browser tab. But i didn't find any major bugs and i generally love it. But one thing is driving me so crazy I'm considering going back to 4.x and staying there.
WHERE IS THE FRACKIN SILENT MODE?????
Sorry for the caps but that's kind of how i feel. Apparently it's not a bug but a feature. In vanilla, stock android on the nexus and moto g, you have to assign priority people or apps that can disturb you in priority mode. And then there's the "none" mode where your phone is completely silent. But those modes are not there in touchwiz. And people can't get their phones silent on other hardware too. Apparently Google will do a reintroduction of the feature in 5.1. But i don't know what that's worth. It will take ages for Samsung to incorporate and I'm starting to distrust google. With Google maps I'm still missing some features they cut out, such as measuring the direct distance between two points in the app. And they brought back writing to microsd cards with a special api, but i still can't edit word documents in any of the seven office apps I've tried (including several purchased ones).
</rant>
Anyway, I've tried everything i could think of to find silent mode:
* tap the vibrate/sound button in the quick toggles, it only switches between sound and vibrate, silent is gone
* long press power button: sound settings are removed from this menu
* go to settings - sounds and notifications: again there's only sound and vibrate mode. Silent mode is missing.
Please help me. The only workaround i found is to manually set all vibrates to really soft. But where is the silent mode? This is a feature that has been present in phones since before the wheel was invented. Did they really forget it? Or leave it out in purpose?

Solution
Ok, found it. You mute your phone with priority mode, but that's rather hidden...
WARNING: your alarms will not go off of you set priority mode to none.
open the all toggles: swipe down from the top of your screen with two fingers (or swipe down once and tap the icon in the upper right with three squares and two arrows)
here you see a toggle called all. Set it to none for silent mode
tap the pen icon to edit the layout, long press the all/none toggle and drag it up to put it in your directly accessible toggles
you can go to the settings for priority mode by long pressing the toggle. You can also find it under sound¬ifications - interruptions (not called priority mode!!!)

This is not something implemented by Sammy, this is a Lollipop Google feature and sucks.
I had a widget for doing this and the App developer says that there is Nothing he can do
why they did this God Knows
what the heck is wrong with android developers nowadays? I hated this option.
At least silent mode will be back in 5.1
I am on EE and when I upgraded to Lollipop I lost this silient mode like everyone else did. My mate on Virgin also lost it but about a week later he received an update and he gained back this functionality.
There's now an XPOSED module for enabling native silent mode in lollipop
Sent from my SM-G900F
Silent mode is back in BOB7
Sent from my SM-G900F using XDA Free mobile app
I'm very confused by this "priority mode" thing. I would really like it simple....I can put my phone on silent at night and have my alarm go off, and still receive ALL notifications while I'm sleeping, but they're silent. Then during the day while I'm at work, leave it on silent, but receive all notifications. I really really don't like that no matter what, silent mode mutes all notifications and alarms. It seems like I have to have it on vibrate in order to have the alarm work. I've googled this so many times and read so many articles, but it still doesn't make sense. Also I couldn't care less what order the notifications are.
who install and active XPOSED module in Rom 5 ?please help me....

First it won't work on Note3 as likely you won't have an app requires to activate it.
second even you have app it required moded bcoz private mod gets block o rooted device.
Third I tried with both above condition yet I couldn't activate, I think it related to secure storage issue and needs to understand better how exact it works. seems difficult to port .
@dr.ketan Sir, are Samsung fools. Why are they giving things in our lollipop which are not working
UPSM was also there and Now private mode also
They may not work by default on Stock ROMs, but why are they present ?
I have explained you last time too. Neither there was UPSM nor Private mod existing on Note3
Both mods needs it's own application and none of them having on N3.
You can see it as hidden with some launcher or app which give access to activity. Samsung can't make each and every application for every device separately otherwise we never get update. What you can see is just activity in setting just like a page without any functionality. Samsung have hide it bcoz our device doesn't have it.
Developers working on it and port missing app and codes on framework and brings complete mods. Again make it clear that having these activities you can't do anything. Samsung just keeping there to make it easy for them and we should thank to them for keeping it there, If they remove total code then it become very very difficult for developer too.
ThankYou once again Sir! Finally I understood this time

hey one thing about the app... whether you turn it OFF or ON, a message comes out and says "Power Saving Mode Enabled" - it kind of confused me at first when I turned it off, but then I realized it was just the message was incorrect.
Dear XDA Community,
As you know thanks to touchwiz it is still possible to turn on silent mode on Android 6.0.
I have been searching the web for hours but could not find "a simple app that when launched turns on silent mode without the need to tap anything (like a widget)".
Can you tell me where to find such an app ? or create it for me ?
I would really appreciate it and I think it help other people facing the same issue.
You must be thinking why isn't he using a widget or an app with a button to tap or something like tasker for silent mode. Well that's because I don't like Tasker and use "Smart connect" instead but Smart connect has limited sound options (ring/vibrate/Do not disturb). However Smart connect allows you to launch an app automatically, so a workaround could be to launch this simple app automatically.
Why the following solutions won't work for me :
- Do not disturb mode
On samsung phones correct me if I'm but you can't set up more that one DND profile. The problem is I need silent mode when I'm at work where I can't accept any sound. On the other hand I use DND at night where I only allow calls (in case of emergency).
- Sound mode toggle widget
I want silent mode to turn on in a certain time period on weekdays. I don't want to have to press a widget every time. I don't even need a widget for that because I could tap on the quick setting in the notification menu.
- A tasker like app for sound modes
Would work but I don't like the idea to have several tasker like apps on my phone. I believe having multiple tasker-like apps triggers wakelock that would impact battery life and/or create wakelocks.
Hello All:
New oneplus 5 user, love my phone. But miss the ability to schedule timed DND or silent mode as I could with my S5. I have purchased Tasker. Lots of people say "it can be done", "it works fine", "you set up a profile" etc. But I've never used Tasker and I'd appreciate it if someone who actually has this working could post a tutorial, step by step.
I saw one poster talk about Tasker reading the file /sys/class/switch/tri-state-key/state
Sounds like it makes sense trying to coordinate with the hardware position, but again, don't have a clue where to start.
Anyone?
So I fiddled around a bit with MacroDroid (a Tasker alternative) and managed to make it work partially. What I mean by that is that you can have it turn on DnD whenever you like to, as long as the alert slider is in "ring" mode. If the slider is set to silent, at least for now, I couldn't get it to be DnD instead. but I think that being able to set it to DnD from "Ring" is more important anyways. If you want a step by step guide, hit me up!

I looked at that file you mentioned (/sys/class/switch/tri-state-key/state) and it does reflect as 1, 2, or 3 (3 being the bottom "ring" position. You can set a DND complete separate from this physical alert slider. Is that what you are trying to do? So that you can have DND mode turn on at a specific time of night without you touching the slider? If so, what exactly do you want it to do?
I also looked at this link and tried to replicate it. I was able to read the value of that key, but unable to write to it. http://tasker.wikidot.com/rootbasic

I loved the Shush! app. Timed DND, basically. Doesn't seem to work on OP5. The volume slider for "ring" never goes to zero, which is what appears to trigger Shush to pop up. Instead they seem to have separate all volumes from a global DND. Interesting.

Isn't the easiest way to create a time based profile in Tasker and assign it to a task that sets the DoNotDisturbMode to the value you like? Call the profile Night, set it to be active from 10 pm to 7 am. Then assign it to a task called Silent. That task sets the DoNotDisturbMode to Alarms. See screen shots.

Thats exactly how I set it up. Why invent new more difficult ways when there is this easy way?
Why have I not discovered Tasker any sooner? Downloaded the app last night, and spent some time getting familiar with the app. Daunting at first, but watched a basic Youtube vid, and off I went. Took me a few attempts to get the tasks working as they should.
I have DND task, and Airplane mode on/off tasks set - and they both work as expected.
Yea, Tasker can be scary at first but once you start using and exploring the possibilities, you can really automate a lot of stuff.

you can set a condition to run a routine manually.
doing so, you will get a icon that you can place on the home page.
Does anyone knows if it is possible to put a manual routine to an edge panel?
I don't like having a manual routine as a widget on my minimal homescreen.
This is possible with the tasks edge. But if you delete the shortcut on the homescreen, you will also lose it on the task edge.

It only works with Samsung launcher. So if you use an alternative one as Nova launcher, set One UI als standard launcher, create shortcut and add it to the edge panel. Then you can switch back to e.g. nova. Only thing, to make it work, the shortcut has to be created both on One UI and Nova.
So the steps I did:
- create shortcut on Nova
- switch to One UI
- create short cut again
- ad shortcut to tasks edge
- switch back to Nova
Didn´t find out another workaround. Hope I could help.

Sorry, I've messed up the routines with the fast commands. For the routines, I have not found a solution.
Otherwise, I think the Bixby routines really great. I realize now what is all possible. As simple tasks as gps automatically turns on when starting eg Sygic as well as then gps automatically turns off when the app is closed. As well as everything can be configured when I am connected to my wifi at home. What I still miss is the possibility to carry out a routine if the battery level is not below a specific value but above, for example.
Definitely a great thing, even to save battery under certain conditions. Not that bad
