Has anyone else noticed on T-Mobile that LTE drops to edge frequently? Or is it just me? I have to force LTE every 5-10min if I set my phone down and its rather annoying.

This was happening to me a few days ago. The problem has now gone away.
If you're like me and rooted with xposed this is what I did to fix it. I disabled all the modules in xposed, restarted, and selected one by one to find the culprit. Ended up being gravity box causing the issue. Hope this helps.
I am having the same issue with LTE on a Canadian carrier. Are there any fixes without rooting the phone?
On T-Mobile and been noticing this as well. I honestly think the lack of Band 12 may be a contributing factor (at least in my case). I recently got a Nexus 6 and have been using it for the past day or so ... Monitoring signal with the app LTE Discovery I am noticing that in areas where I'd lose LTE on the X my N6 is switching from Band 4 to Band 12 and maintaining LTE coverage.

I had the same issue as well but I reset the the apn to default and no issue in 2 days. Not saying it will fix your problem but it worked for me...
After having my phone a few more days I feel like its a T-Mobile issue, I reset my phone (still rooted) and switched to the nano sim included with my phone (old sim was from my old moto x) and I've had less dropouts, but if the phone sits idle for a while or I'm walking around my house it sometimes drops to 2g, then drops signal, and I force a reconnect to LTE.
I thought the X had band 12? But I guess I thought wrong?

My understanding is Motorola is in the process of getting band 12 certified with T-Mobile. I have not heard of it being approved at this time.

Hey guys lurker here finally registering to get some help.
I have a nexus 4 with T-Mobile. I bought it unlocked through Google and have it on the same plan I had my G2 on.
My problem is every time I get into a HSPA area my service just drops. Like completely drops. I cannot even make a call. It will come on then off then on then off. It makes the phone useless. When I'm on edge it's perfectly fine.
I went to T Mobile and got a brand new sim car and that did not help my problem.
Much appreciated any help I can get.
Factory reset first and see what happens.

That happens when the radio on the N4 switches between 3G and HSPA doing a factory reset won't affect the radio. In other words its the carrier coverage in your area. Try Straight Talk with At&t

I've got a Nexus 4 on AT&T and i've got HSPA (no +, i've checked in settings). It seems when my phone switches between towers i lose service until i go in and select AT&T from a list of available networks. On other phones in this area i always have Tmobile and AT&T, but with this one i'm getting two AT&T's. I usually select AT&T, but the last few days i've tried selecting "automatically select network." It doesnt appear to have made any changes. Just wanted to see if anyone had any ideas before i factory reset this bad boy.
Factory reset, reflash of the stock ROM using the nexus toolkit, unroot and custom Roms cm10 and paranoid android. Nothing has helped my issue. I have the LTE plan and the WAP APN gives me hspa+. Still getting a signal drop every time I move more than a mile or so.

Doubt anyone is even watching this, but i called google and the rep says it sounds like a hardware issue. Getting a warranty replacement.

Hi all, I am on 'ee' (UK) And am constantly having my signal drop and not recovering, doesn't seem to happen on my work phone (Xperia sp) just wondering if anyone else is having this same problem on the s4. There was mention of it on the UK s4 thread but for some reason that was closed (read the pinned topic still seems nonsensical) I am now downloading the latest btu update (luckilly linked in the above mentioned thread before it was closed!) Just wondering if you've had problems whether that fixed them ( started the download but torrent and extremely slow. Would love to hear your thoughts!!

I live in Spain. My operator is Yoigo and i have the same problem. They said that is because they're changing to 4g network. I think the real problem it's the phone

This is what I'm trying to ascertain.
My colleague had an i9305 (s3 LTE) and gets similar problems but my work phone (xperia sp - also a 4g compatible device) isn't affected. Thing is people can't get hold of me and is driving me crazy!!

I am having the same issues on t-mobile in the uk, which is part of the EE group now. signal goes to crossed circle, emergency calls only, and i have to restart to regain signal, i am pretty sure its the handset as i also have a nokia 820 lumia with no issues .
To be honest its not a big issue happens once or twice a day, i just don't want to send the phone away have it flashed and be told thats fixed it...
James
I had that before the 4.2.2 update but all is fine now.
Had the same problem a few days ago for the first and only time. The signal was gone and came back a couple of times. After I restared the phone, everything was working again. Didn't happen ever since. I noticed that the phone ran hotter than usual.
Do you have a self-made microsim or factory made? A poorly cut microsim can cause such problems. I replaced mine with a factory made microsim and these kind of problems went away.
Hi, factory sim, I have reseated it etc.
I'm thinking its a network rather than phone issue though. Like it doesn't reauthenticate after lost signal. Signal is poor at work but its not the only place it happens. I never had the same problems with my s3 making me wonder whether it is the LTE radio that causes the problem, too much of a coincidence that my colleague has the same issue with his i9305 (also LTE radio)

signal droped on my S4 as well
Hello,
It happens to me twice: once per week - I'm brought it two weeks ago. First time I have simply reboot-ed to get the network back.
Second time I have put it in "Airplane mode" and back to normal operating status but doesn't recover it. I have only seen the operator logo about 1 sec and then "emergency calls only".
Reboot "solved" the issues instead. I have cleaned the SIM surface and reinserted few times and I have set up the network mode to "WCDMA/GSM (auto connect)". Under observation...

Anyone else having these issues? I've noticed that places I always had at least 1-2 bars with my note 2 I will not have any service with my note 3. Also I have been dropping calls in areas that I never did. Could this be my new sim card or should I exchange my phone? I also feel that my wifi connection stability/range is slightly worse than before.
Mine is the same way, don't get the signal my note 2 would and 4G is weaker also .

I hope this is just a first software or sim issue. Or at the very worst a first production run issue. I will likely be bringing mine to Verizon this weekend to test and new sim or exchange if that doesn't make any difference. Annoying.
Idk how much it will help you but I noticed I was in 3G a lot of the time as well. Definitely more than my N2, I switched my preferred network to LTE/CDMA instead of Global and I now have 4GLTE way more. As far as the wifi and phone reception, I myself haven't noticed any huge difference but I did read the international version of the N3 already received 2 updates and they supposedly not only improved the wifi and antenna signals but also battery life. Who knows when we'll see an update though. We are on Verizon.

Tried that and it actually made my signal significantly worse. I switched back to global and my problem seems way worse tonight than any day this week. Can barely hold onto a signal in places that I never had an issue before. Battery pull didn't help at all. I constantly get a message that says I can't send messages and then asks me to retry. Frustrating, will be going to Verizon tomorrow or Friday to return/exchange
Just now noticing this
I wonder if this has anything to do with being rooted? it seems like I just started dropping calls like crazy just today. I do remember getting the sent error on some text messages, though I can't remember if that started befor or after rooting.
Haven't had a single issue with signal or dropping calls. Also my 4G speeds are pretty insane. I'm thinking there are some units with defective radios.
Basically I have tried stock reset using LG Flashing tool i have rooted and tried numerous roms, but the problem is i boot my phone it has 4gLTE full then 5 minutes in it switches to 3g network. I have called verizon and tried everything they told me. Also i have even tried and made sure it was on the correct network which is Global or CDMA/LTE
I wanted to know if any deveopler can help me here to figure out the issue with why its not staying connected to 4g?
One of two things. There is issues with the towers around u which would be a Verizon problem. Or its hardware related

its sounding like its hardware related before i upgraded to the LG g2 i had .. i even dialed *228 to locate towers my area is all red on 4glte and im right next to the tower
can someone please help me with this issue it is irritating me very much because i pay for 4glte not 3g ****
so no update on this no one having the same issues as me loosing 4glte and connecting to 3g
Have you tried a new SIM card? On some LTE devices dialing *228 can actually screw up the SIM data. You should try a new card.

Have you tried any of the different radios / modems? Might be worth a shot.

Just got my G2 a couple days ago and I can confirm that I am having the same issue. I haven't found any fixes yet. It does seem that as long as I am actively using the data network, I keep 4g. Once I quit using data or go to wi-fi though, I switch back to 3g after a short period. Quick toggle of airplane mode and almost instantly connects back to 4g again, with the same results of dropping shortly thereafter.
I'm in a spotty area, 4G sticks on one bar and rarely reverts to 3G. Signal loss very rarely. Always comes back auto. Faulty modem sw, SIM, hardware, or towers.
I called lg about the issue they say it was Verizon's fault and there radios .. So they sent me the international version works perfect now I would recommend anyone here to drop Verizon they are **** and highly overpriced
Just wanted to share my experience with the new Radio on 6.0.1 so far it is much better.
1) band 12 active
2) better signal switch even when band 12 is not there it now could lock on to edge or other. I get signal now inside basement where I get nothing before
3) I noticed that the phone also dynamic switch to wifi calling now when it got nothing. It did not do this before
So far so good

I don't know about VoLTE but I had HD Voice today
Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
Volte and HD voice worked on 6.0. I thought that was the norm? It works as well on 6.0.1
Yeah, VOLTE and HD Voice were working from the beginning.
The only thing I have noticed is that my phone seems to take longer to grab signal when I reboot. It shows full signal bars as soon as it turns on but does not connect to data for about 10 seconds. This was instantaneous before so I'm not sure what happened.
Update sometime for the wifi calling to lock on, I still have to restart the phone at time. This aspect still need improvement

I agree I think it's better than 6.0 radio. It's more reliable and consistent specifically when going through dead-ish cell zones.
I've also noticed that it waits till the very last second to switch to b12 whereas the original radio that was reflashed would swap between band 4 and band 12 very often. It now seems to wait to about -110-115 dbm to switch
I've had great luck with t-mobile service in the Minneapolis, MN area. We have very strong TMO coverage in the cities so I wasn't too worried about it, however it gets slightly better service than my iPhone 5s did (loaned until i could buy the 5X, since i had just switched from Verizon).
radio on 6.0.1 is great for me. Generally where my parents is, there is zero reception with t-mobile; this is true when if first got the nexus 5x running 6.0. To my surprise after I upgraded the OS, and was over at my parents this weekend, I see the signal bar being 3/4 full with the LTE logo and I was able to use data on it, where as before I wouldn't even dream of making a voice calls
I'm in band 12 Area Tampa using latest build, with LTE Discovery, locks on band 12 but when call is placed it will switch to band 4. So no go on VOLTE Calling for the nexus 5X. Maybe there's a certification process that I'm missing.

I sold my Nexus 5x, but I do have Blackberry PRIV and use it with T-Mobile. In some locations, I do see when device is on Band 12 and placing a call, it switches to Band 4. In other locations it stays on Band 12 when call is initiated.

VOLTE works, or else TM wouldn't have approved B12 for the 5x. Otherwise, in cases where there is only B12, you wouldn't be able to place calls, which is what TM won't allow. The fact that it switches to B4 during a call doesn't mean it doesn't have VOLTE.
Just before call connection is where is switches and I can actually tell the dif between HD calls. B12 works great for data, just not voice. I'm testing it against a T-Mobile note 4, a grad prime and a 6plus. Tried diff APN. No luck
