Hi all,
I am getting issue with stylus sensor. There is a part in my screen that unable to use s pen. Please see my attachment for detail.
I googled for this issue and got advice to change stylus sensor film. I did it, but the prob remained the same. I don t know what should I do now. Anyone can advise, please?

Do you use a case with a magnetic closure? Magnets will interfere with the S-Pen detection.
Can you draw in that region with your finger?

Sorry for this late...Yes I can draw with finger.
Well, I found that it is the zone where SD card is. I move SD card and lightly tap on the card slot, and suddenly I can draw by stylus in this zone. However, some hours after, this issue comes back once again. I re-tap on the card slot with my finger, after a while, it works again.
It's very strange this issue. Do you know the reason?

No...I dont use any closure.
Today, I had to remove back cover 3 times, and tapped on sd card slot for getting the stylus sensor working again on this zone.
This tip works somehow, but annoying and without understanding the route cause.
Is there something to do with the motherboard? I did think that the stylus sensor depend only on the sensor film and the stylus itself.

hello there!
in the last days my touchscreen calibration seems to go away very often, any idea why?!!
i need to recalibrate now nearly daily
Try this - dont't insert stylus at Magican, just leave it separately.
I use another pen-stylus and from that moment my Magican stops recallibration
I hope you'll understand me
i fail to see the connection between putting the stylus in its holder and recallibration
I see
I think it means use a different stylus than the built in one.
I find a finer point onthe stylus helps a bit. I also read somewhere that pushing a thin business card aroud the inside of the screen sdge helps clear debris which can cause the problem.
In my experience, it can be a deteriorating problem and is hardware based - that means a new touchscreen - about $20 on ebay I think but I don't know how to do it. Last time my Magician failed int his way it went back to HTC under warranty and they replaced the touchscreen for me.
Hope this helps.
i am the same... there is no sensor that checks if i put my stylus in the hole or there is no sensor or radio connection between the stylus and the magician that sees what stylus is interacting with my phone...
i cant see the point. but thanx for answering
i guess, there should be a file that keeps the settings and maybe this file is dissappearing all the time?

Don't use original stylus for a few days - just for test
I think that the screen decalibrates when I insert and remove stylus to/from hole. Why? - I don't know
The reason of a strange event - touchscreen loses its calibration because of inserting/removing stylus - is there's a design fault of Magician.
Stylus brushes against the flat wire (connecting touchscreen with a device's motherboard) while being inserted or removed.
This wire, which is located right under the stylus rug, is about 1.5 cm width and is 60-pinned. So a slight shift of even one pin can harm the touchscreen connection
I have one account that I cannot enter with a camera phone. I've never really had an issue with switching sim cards, but the Advantage poses a problem. I've been using a small chunk of egrip, but I was wondering if cutting a fingernail slot near the end would work. Would I damage the sim card (its ability to work) by cutting a slot near the end to use a finger nail or even a hole for the stilius?
Thanks

It's easy to slide it out if you press it DOWN and PULL it out at the same time. Don't try to dig your finger under the card.

I found it difficult as well so I took a SMALL piece of scotch tape
and attached to both sides of the sim in a loop.
It gives you a little handle that tucks away neatly when you close the door.
I can remove mine fairfly easily. Just raise the little 'door' that keeps it in place, put your finger flat on top of the sim card, and slide it right out.

I do that also, but I'm of the opinion that bending back the door tabs enough to do the sim extraction 1-2 times a day will shorten their life to only a couple of weeks. I think I'm gonna drill a stilus size hole near the end, then it can be pulled out with the stilus and out the slot between the door and the case. Still waiting for someone to tell me if that will ruin the sim. I'll post a picture if it works.
@ Hitch, I had an old Sim so I drilled a "1/16" hole at the Center End of it and tried it out. It worked out pretty good and the phone still picked it up. The stylus fit in it perfectly and pulled it out easily. Give it a shot and post back...TJ
i have used a knife to cut a fingernail slot in my sim (did that about 1 year back when i first got athena ... it works fine
but yes one of my tabs is broken on the door
tweezers for me !

My tap too. Is it the side closest to the keyboard connection?
Hi,
Just wondering if anyone has fully dismantled an X1 - and if so, do you know if there are water indicator stickers on the inside of the phone?
So far, I can see two on the outside (one on the battery itself and the other where the battery contacts are on the phone itself)
Thanks in advance!
some where on youtube there is a vid on dismanteling an Xperia

Thank you!
It doesn't appear to have any on the inside.. however I'm not sure if the 3 rectangular white things on http://www.phonewreck.com/wiki/images/thumb/a/a8/Xperia_x1_pcb_2.jpg/800px-Xperia_x1_pcb_2.jpg are teh same as the water indicators on the outside.
Yes Dismantled it.
Mine fell down. Touch stopped working and so did the finger scroll sensor. The touch worked in landscape but in portrait it wont work.
Opened it and found the connector slide cable (similar to ones in samsung slide phones) unplugged. Guess the shock of the fall made it stick out.
Anyways plugged it back in and whoa....Phone was as good as new.
For thoe whose touchscreen stop working, I suggest please first try the "BOAN" method. (Battery off all night). Insert the battery in the morning and the screen works miraculously.

Or make a hard reset may i add...
Or full flash instead thats worked for me...
Hard Reset did not solve my probem though. I tried flashing to Generic R2a0010 as well. Did not work.
One more thing before i tried the BOAN methodm was inserting a visiting card between the screen and the casing especially the four corners to wipe out the dirt. beleive me, its the small particles that pile up and sometimes pressurize a particular point disrupting the touch mechanism. I got my X1i only 20 days back, and i stay home or office and believe me there was enough dirt residing in the corners. I was actually surprised why they had such a big gap between the screen and the casing.
Anyways, since i did the flash, I flashed mine with the latest R3A0010. All's well in my x1 except that custom ringtones are not loud enough.
Just wondering if anyone else is have this problem. My s pen starts writing from about half an inch from the screen which make sit hard to to write a neat note. A while back i downloaded a smemo.apk for 240 dpi and that when it seem to start doing it I have tried a full flash of stock rom but still doing it.
It happened to me too, Samsung said that it's because some S-pens have trouble on its sensor. You can ask Samsung to change S-pen for you, change until the problem is gone xD. That's what i do with mine.
Ok i thought it might be somethimg like that I ordered one from ebay the other day. thanks
try disabling auto rotation..
and choose again which dominant hand in pen setting..
if you used magnet case it would affect the s pen sensor too..
Your pen is bad, a few of these threads have poped up. With a working pen you can take your fingernail and push in the tip and it will work like yours is, from far, yours is just stuck in.
You can try and take it apart (there is a post around here with instructions) and reset the tip in the rubber grommet it sits in if returning it is a issue.
Touch Screen Tune
I use Touch Screen Tune (for Galaxy note) to fine tune the pen.
And it became much better.

The tip of your s-pen is pushed in and stuck, which makes the pen think you are pushing against the Note. Not sure how to get it unstuck, but that's definitely the issue. It's happened to a couple of people.

I also have the same problem..some guy posted a video on youtube as well..its a faulty spen...
Hi All.
Funny enough i have similar issue. My pen from time to time is oversensitive. I have been playing with it to check when and how does it happens. And i discovered that my spen has an allergy on me. I mean its me or my static charge is affecting it. Whenever i had such an issue i had to touch somethin metal or somebody to discharge myself. Or just put phone on the table. Whenever i broke circuit (i havent touch phone with both hands) or i disperse my charge spen started working again.
If you have such an issue try this out or even pass the phone to somebody else to check if the issue still stays with somebody else. I have been in touch with Samsung and they offered me a new spen so when it arrives i will check this out.
I got the same problem yesterday, i bring my note to SC and the customer service just laugh on me and told me may be my note is the new note 2 because it can hover
Anyway they replace it free of charge, thanks samsung
Oversensitive SPen means that a coil broke inside your pen, whice alterates the internal capacitance. Must be careful when carrying your pen, avoid drop it to the ground and so on...
Hi all. I replaced my battery, put the phone back together, and turned it on. Everything looked fine until I tried to use the touchscreen. It wouldn't register any touch. I figured I messed up the screen somehow when removing it, so I ordered a replacement screen - touch doesn't work with that either! Does anyone have a suggestion for what might be wrong?

Not to ask the stupid question...
Is the ribbon for the screen in the slot correctly? Seated all the way? Locked in place by that whatever the hell it is?
Thank you for your reply. Yes I have, it is screwed it and I've even tried pressing it down and touching it to see if it helps.

I have replaced the cracked screen on my PH-1 without issues... Since you are seeing the same problem with TWO different screens, I would check the connector on the board. Could be something like small piece of debris or dust or whatever. Remove the cable, and try inspecting it with a magnifying glass, if you can. Might be able to use a wooden toothpick to *carefully* clean it up, but I would only recommend that if you can actually see it well. You could also just blow a couple of shots of compressed air into it.
Other than that, I have no ideas, sorry...

might need a factory reset as this recilibrates the screen, back up ail your data first of course (pics, chats, game data etc). Not sure if recalibration apps still work, might be worth a shot first.
I had the same issue after replacing the screen. Someone on reddit mentioned the same problem and used a bit of foam behind the screen and its connection. I took a razor and trimmed a mm or two thick of some soft foam (used the foam that the screen was packaged in) and placed it over the connector. Touch was back after that, so it was an issue with the connection not being snug enough for me. Been over a month and everything is fine
