Hi there, I have some questions for you all... I hope that you can help me in a way or another because I don't really know what to do else.
I was looking for a way to maximise the battery life of my Note 3 LTE, so I found a good ROM and I thought it would get better at least a bit, but it didn't. It has only worsened. So I reinstalled the original firmware (Lollipop 5.0) and I rooted it, installing some apps like Greenify, Wakelock Director, Titanium Backup, Kernel Auditor, trying to configure them all in a good way, but the battery didn't get better, but it's like it was before (or maybe a bit worse).
So I found a tutorial here, on XDA (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2579075) but it is for Note 3 N9000 and it doesn't advise me a good kernel to use. I used the arter97 kernel using the original firmare with Nova Launcher but I got some issues (since the first time I turn on the phone, an error message appears saying "Phone is not working") so I wasn't able to use the phone with it and I didn't know how to solve that problem so I put back the stock kernel and now here we are.
Now:
-I can change the kernel, using another one, but I don't know which one. Can you advise me a good kernel for Lollipop 5.0 which improves battery and performance?
-Does anyone know how to solve that problem with the arter97 kernel?
-I saw a lot of tests with CAF Kernel and CM12.1 with other phones and the battery life is really amazing. Is it possible to install CAF Kernel with CM12.1 on my Note 3? It would solve all my problems, I guess...
I'll wait for your answers, thank you in advance... and sorry for my English, I'm italian, after all... >.<

Try Lean Kernel 6.3.
But before flashing it, make sure you flash Kernel cleaner via Recovery (you can find Kernel cleaner zip file in Kernel threads)
Also make sure to Wipe (cache and dalvik) after installing Kernel.

Ok I got the second and the third steps, but not the first one. Where do I find Kernel Cleaner? I got multiple results so I don't know which one is good/better :/
you can use the one here.

Ok I installed it and it's working fine. I'll try the phone now, thank you so much. Can you advise me a good app for reviewing the kernel's settings?
EDIT: Oh and another question: do you think I'd save more energy with the CM12.1 and this kernel (if you ever tried it) or with the stock operative system?

Based on my usage, I prefer Stock ROM when it comes to Battery Life. Its always better than CM. (but I haven't tried different Kernels in CM).
And I am not using any Kernel tweaking apps. Stock setting in Lean Kernel is the best.

yeah I left it unchanged and I get 6 to 7 hours SOT
I apparently solved my problem by half, the battery life is okay when I'm on Wi-Fi and it lasts even 2 days (4h SOT), not that good when I use 3G/4G though. Do you have any advice for improve even more battery life? I still use Greenify and I unistalled some applications that I don't use (ChatOn, S Voice, S Note etc.).
Now, I'm finally happy (all 4G) :

DOWNLOAD VERSION 1.3 here
Steps to install
1. Download rom and put on the root of your sdcard
2. Select ROM in Rom manager
3. Select wipe data, cache, dalvik
4. PROFFIT!!!!!
No need to odin back to stock before flashing this and GB bootloaders aren't required
if the glitch kernel freaks out on you... you may need a different leakage version. Source code and updates for glitch kernel, can be found in the following thread ------->http://bit.ly/pNkURn
CHANGELOG:
v1.3- Initial release and port from samsung vibrant, relatively untested
Seems interesting...i'll try it out tonight.
As shall I... I doubt many people here will get the KingKlick reference lol (I'm from way back... G1 days). Great to see you deving for Captivate, biff.
you guys are officially testers. Please let me know any bugs or issues you have. Cappy and Vibrant are basically the same so i think i pulled it off proper, but since i don't have the device, its not possible to know. Once you all confirm its as stable as it should in theory be, i'll push to rom manager and start doing biweekly updates.
Sounds good. I won't be using Glitch though, I'm currently testing a kernel of my own (in my sig). TK-Glitch was the dev of Gitch kernel btw
I will give a try also this night!
So I can flash this with gb bootloader and Samsung rom without the need to go back to froyo stock?
Thanks in advance

That's what the OP says. If you have issues, then they're most likely caused by your GB bootloaders. Give it a try, worst that can happen is that you have to go stock. (disclaimer: worse can happen if you really, really, really screw up and I'm not responsible)
+1. I have jvp installed. With gb bootloaders. Do I have to-
1. flash to stock eclair
2. flash to stock gb
3. just wipe and flash?

P.s I have never flashed cm or aosp before, so I have just the very basic idea of aosp. Only thing I know is that battery was pretty bad on cm7 due to the phone not being able to get to the deep sleep mode. Could someone please tell me how is it on this?

Sure thing. The ROM's been great so far, no issues except for a soft reboot, then when it booted it hard rebooted. Just a one time thing, and I've used the phone plenty since then, so I don't think it's anything to worry about.
Gonna flash here in about 15 minutes...i'll let u know what I think, preety excited for something different!
Error when attempting flash from Apex 9 (JVR):
"Assert failed, get prop....." blah blah blah.... "Status 7"
Hmm
Regards
Smith
EDIT: I modified build.prop to read SGH-i897 instead of GT-i9000 and it works. Well, it's installing as we speak...
EDIT 2: How can I change the band selection?? *#2263# isn't working...
Gonna flash in a couple of hours... Backing up stuff..! Ne more reviews n reports?

Great! Yet another rom to try out I'll be waiting for screenies before I try it out. Just a question nims11, does this rom have the 3rd party facebook login problems like the other cm7 based roms? Since this is a problem to a Facebook freak like me, only Jusada's roms don't have this problem.
Nice work! Looks awesome..
good work..hats off mate
but before doing the installation must be done wipe the cache or something?
I also wanted to ask if this rom the bug is present proximity sensor, and if the torch is working properly.
Finally I wanted to ask which is the default setting Launcher

FINALLY. WE'RE ONE. I LOVE YOUR ROM'S STYLE.
But, CM 7.2 are claimed to be not the most stable based ROM compared to CM 7.1. Does the battery drains?
Hey nims. I'm facing issues... I restored from cwm5. And it says sd-ext format fail. So I ignored it and rebooted my phone. Roms looking great but I'm having Market force close issues... Isit releated to the sd-ext issue?

Thanks a lot nims11 for your efforts! Does this drain battery? Since the original 7.2 by Axel003 was not friendly with my battery. Hence the question.
So glad to see your work again bro. And even better on something completely original, witch is more than can be said for most stuff coming out at the minute. Look forward to flashing when my current projects are finished. It will probably be the last rom I flash on my phone.

I flashed this expecting awesomeness.
I was dead wrong.
This is BEYOND awesomeness. Awesomeness doesn't even reach the tip of comprehension of how HOLY this ROM is.
But I do have some personal issues:
> Because of the full transparency, lots of text are really hard to read.
But that's not forcing you to fix it, of course. I'm just an unknowledgeable end user
Other than that, I love it more than my children.
No, just kidding; I don't have any children.
Hello there, nice work!
I have a few questions, if you don't mind:
I have a rooted Oppo Find 5. I installed the Faux 123 kernel, but it has less features than the ones you describe (check out the pics),
I have now installed this rom: ALL in 1 PAC 22.3 Nightlies (which I believe has its own kernel, and i don't know if they are compatible), but the Faux works the same as when I tried it with the stock rom...
Any advice?
By the way, what can I do to improve the battery's efficiency with this kernel?
Thanks!!

These are the settings I have. You can usually underclock the CPU by 50-100mV without any problems. For the frequency governor I found conservitive works the best for me when trying to save power as it reduces the frequency as much as possible while maintaining responsiveness. For the CPU governor, userspace turns all cores on while runnable activates the least amount of cores necessary.

No, I have a Google Nexus. The Faux123 kernel default overclocks the CPU and GPU.
Faux kernel only works properly in Oppo's stock firmware and deodexed variants.
Most of kernels in 4.2.2 doesn't have the same options like undervolting, z-control or even the same governors.

Just a few hiccups on my end so far:
-Insane battery drain
-Lag
Now I know the battery drain could be caused by a number of factors, but the lag was so terrible at one point that it took me over two minutes after I pressed the power button for the power menu to come up.
I thought it might have been Devil kernel seeing as how I have had lag and battery issues with it before.
So I played around with the kernel settings for a bit, but it was still a no go.
I tried a few other kernels ( Cyancore, Grear, Semaphore) still extremely bad lag.
I finally just re-flashed CM.
It's too bad, because I really liked the feel of this ROM.

Weird. Did you modify the kernel settings at all?
I wish it was running that good for me, because I really want to use this ROM.
I might try to re-flash after I get off work and mess around with it a little bit more.

install better battery status to know whats actually draining your battery.... if its the kernel wake lock or any app is draining your battery...
battery time is fine by me... not that bad after all...
which semaphore did you flashed? official or unofficial!?
also please give some time to rom to get settled! most of the times battery drains caused by media server app which is only a one time activity after a new flash!

Thanks for the response. I tried both version of Semaphore. I figured I needed to give the ROM time to settle, that's why I was going to try and re-flash it tonight and keep it for a few days. I thought about the wake lock as well.

Is your version of SuperNexus the same as SuperNexus M1 that we already have for Captivate? I'm particularly interested in Volume Wake option, not present in original SuperNexus.

I re-flashed last night and everything seems to be running good now. I figured tweaking the kernel had something to do with it, so this time I left it alone. Thank you for the Super Nexus version! I'll try this one out as well.
Maybe it's just me, but the Super Nexus version is giving me WIFI issues. Not letting me turn it on.

hmm.. working for me.. anyone else have this issue? Also try flashing Semaphore or a different kernel to see if the problem persists. Goodluck.

Thanks for the response. I remember reading somewhere that people were having problems with Devil kernel and WIFI. I'll try again tonight using a different kernel.

I understand is what I was saying.
Hi,
I will be receiving my MXP in the new few days but have some questions that I would like to ask beforehand,
1. ROMs in the Android Development section is all based on stock firmware but with customisations added into it?
2. What does layers in ROM means?
3. Is Marshmallow stable and good battery life?
4. I only use my phone for social media, texting and browsing so I prefer better battery life, so for this should I use stock, Squid or Ultra kernel?
5. I have a brand new SanDisk 64GB MicroSD card, should I format it on my computer or on the MXP?
Thanks
Stock.
Don't need to format your sd.

1. They aren't based on stock rom. Some are based on CM and some on AOSP(Android Open Source Project). 2 or 3 roms are stock based but they are just the deodexed rom.
2. Layers is a systemwide theming option.
3. Yup, its stable.
4. Use squid kernel. Its more stable.
5. No need to format it through pc.

Thanks for the information, ROMs like Resurrection which is based on CyanogenMod, does it use CM or stock camera libs? As I use CyanogenMod ROMs before on my other phones and the camera quality isn't as good as stock.

I haven't looked into this but i feel they use cm camera libs. I dont find a lot of difference in image quality between stock and cm though.
Would you say to use stock or CM for stability and battery friendly as I won't flash another ROM or version after?
Also, where do I find the latest modem file?
Thanks for your help
I struggled at first with the battery life, but after many tweaks and head aches, I got a very good result, with cm13 lux and squid kernel.

Stock is best for stability and battery life. Cm is also pretty good in stability now but battery life takes a bit of hit compared to stock.
Latest modem file is the latest stock rom zip. ?

I have received my MXP today however when I put my SanDisk 64GB MicroSD card (FAT32 format) in the phone, it isn't detected but it works on my computer, I read online this is a fault with the MicroSD card reader and I must return for replacement?

Instead of flashing latest stock ROM, should I do the notification update on my phone and then afterwards flash RR ROM? So does that mean I have latest modem?

Yes, if you go by the way of getting updated through OTA notification, even then you would get the latest modem file.
About SD card problem, I have no idea. Try formatting it through pc in other format and check again in phone. I personally never had any problem regarding it.
