Hi,
I will be receiving my MXP in the new few days but have some questions that I would like to ask beforehand,
1. ROMs in the Android Development section is all based on stock firmware but with customisations added into it?
2. What does layers in ROM means?
3. Is Marshmallow stable and good battery life?
4. I only use my phone for social media, texting and browsing so I prefer better battery life, so for this should I use stock, Squid or Ultra kernel?
5. I have a brand new SanDisk 64GB MicroSD card, should I format it on my computer or on the MXP?
Thanks
Stock.
Don't need to format your sd.

1. They aren't based on stock rom. Some are based on CM and some on AOSP(Android Open Source Project). 2 or 3 roms are stock based but they are just the deodexed rom.
2. Layers is a systemwide theming option.
3. Yup, its stable.
4. Use squid kernel. Its more stable.
5. No need to format it through pc.

Thanks for the information, ROMs like Resurrection which is based on CyanogenMod, does it use CM or stock camera libs? As I use CyanogenMod ROMs before on my other phones and the camera quality isn't as good as stock.

I haven't looked into this but i feel they use cm camera libs. I dont find a lot of difference in image quality between stock and cm though.
Would you say to use stock or CM for stability and battery friendly as I won't flash another ROM or version after?
Also, where do I find the latest modem file?
Thanks for your help
I struggled at first with the battery life, but after many tweaks and head aches, I got a very good result, with cm13 lux and squid kernel.

Stock is best for stability and battery life. Cm is also pretty good in stability now but battery life takes a bit of hit compared to stock.
Latest modem file is the latest stock rom zip. ?

I have received my MXP today however when I put my SanDisk 64GB MicroSD card (FAT32 format) in the phone, it isn't detected but it works on my computer, I read online this is a fault with the MicroSD card reader and I must return for replacement?

Instead of flashing latest stock ROM, should I do the notification update on my phone and then afterwards flash RR ROM? So does that mean I have latest modem?

Yes, if you go by the way of getting updated through OTA notification, even then you would get the latest modem file.
About SD card problem, I have no idea. Try formatting it through pc in other format and check again in phone. I personally never had any problem regarding it.

awesome, I'm right behind you!
I know it's still available. I would rather get a ROM that's on XDA, that's all.
I just made "the jump" and wiped Sammy away from my Note, I flashed C-Rom Kang 1.7.
No regrets at all :good:, insane speed and features with Lean Kernel 3.6.

I have tried so many times to jump ship with my note.
But i always end up reverting, I dont know if its because i use SideSync so much and CM or PA appear to break that.
I can just not stay on for longer than a day to test it out.

Sadly I just reverted back to a stock base rom (Audax), after discovering that the Mobeam Beep n Go is not working on AOSP/CM roms [emoji17] , and also after some (probably) ram issues wich caused instability.
I'm on Temasek's CM11. Most stable CM based ROM for me. Slim and C ROM had problems on my phone. Would soon try Dirty Unicorn or even LiquidSmooth as soon as it gets stable status.

Have you already tried c-rom? How does temasek features list compare with it?
Little OT also, since I'm a newbie here, are this kind of thread against xda "no best rom thread allowed" rule? Just asking, I want to respect the forum guidelines [emoji4]

Tried C-RoM Kang from vikas724. I had some issues, the screen won't turn on and it's bothersome. Temas CM11 build has a few customization, but C-ROM Kang has more way more.
I've used AOSP ROMs on my HTC Desire HD and loved them.
Sammy now has so many little bonuses with their ROMs though. I use Pen Window, Multi Window, 4k recording, Blocking Mode on a daily basis.
Are there available on any AOSP, CM, AOKP Note 3 ROMs?
Could I make a TWRP backup of my current ROM, then install an AOSP, CM, AOKP ROM, then backup that in TWRP, and switch between the two?

You could easily switch back and forth in just a few minutes they are so light and unbloated they load up really fast. If you care about recording audio with your videos you will be extremely disappointed on every aosp ROM. They all record sound extremely low like they only use the microphone from phone calls.
********I spoke too soon, the recording audio is back in temasek's latest test build from today. It should be back for all of aosp in the near future as well*******

Hey,
I've got rom stock on my s3.
The phone is slow and very short battery life.
Should i install cyanogenmod 12 - as shown here: http://www.naldotech.com/cyanogenmod-12-rom-5-0-lollipop-for-samsung-galaxy-s3/
or stable cyanogenmod ?
or just stay with the rom version i've got on my phone.
Pls advice
tnx
anyone?
Samsung based ROMs have better:
+Camera
+Stability
+Battery
AOSP based ROMs have better:
-Customization
-Performance
I recommend ArchiDroid ROMs
but in s3 samsung rom is only 4.3 with CyanogenMod i can get 5.0

Install CM12 weekly as suggested previously. Customize the governor and undervolt for great performance and battery life. Install CameraFV-5 and Cinema FV-5 for awesome camera quality. Much better than the samsung rooms.:good:
I too recommend custom ROM with android 5.0.2, its much better then stock ROM in almost everything
hello,
i haven't flashed my s3 since 4.3 .. which means ages ago. since 4.4.4 came out i wanted to flash it again, but there were no stable working running roms yet.
now after a while it seems that there's even 5.05 for my s3?
if so, where can i get infos and which rom should i get?? .. or should i stick to 4.4.4 kitkat?
oh and, if i flash a new rom, will it wipe everything? i forgot all that.
will i lose whatsapp database and all that?

You're on a forum with dozens of threads for dozens of roms. What more do you want???! ;/
Mind
I think stock is obsoleted and running slow. Thus I use Cyanogenmod 12. My s3 run smooth and customized. Combo with Boeffla kernel for optimized performance and daily use.
Good day,
It's just that I am new to rooting - I just successfully rooted my phone a while ago, and I was wondering, if I installed Custom ROMS, will I somewhat lose some functionality of the S3?
I have this "turn off when the phone is put on the ear while calling" feature, Smart Stay, Turn upside down to turn off sounds, etc.
If I install the S5 Sensation ROM, will I get to use these features? If I install AOSP ROMS, will these ROMs have the exact equivalent?
Thank you very much!
If your don't like Stock 4.3 ROMs, you can install CM11 stable, it's fast and stable.
I use Cyanogenmod 12.1 by JustArchi and Moster2. It is excellent, fast, reliable. The only problem I couldn't solve yet is that MMS don't work (send and receive).

Hi there, I have some questions for you all... I hope that you can help me in a way or another because I don't really know what to do else.
I was looking for a way to maximise the battery life of my Note 3 LTE, so I found a good ROM and I thought it would get better at least a bit, but it didn't. It has only worsened. So I reinstalled the original firmware (Lollipop 5.0) and I rooted it, installing some apps like Greenify, Wakelock Director, Titanium Backup, Kernel Auditor, trying to configure them all in a good way, but the battery didn't get better, but it's like it was before (or maybe a bit worse).
So I found a tutorial here, on XDA (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2579075) but it is for Note 3 N9000 and it doesn't advise me a good kernel to use. I used the arter97 kernel using the original firmare with Nova Launcher but I got some issues (since the first time I turn on the phone, an error message appears saying "Phone is not working") so I wasn't able to use the phone with it and I didn't know how to solve that problem so I put back the stock kernel and now here we are.
Now:
-I can change the kernel, using another one, but I don't know which one. Can you advise me a good kernel for Lollipop 5.0 which improves battery and performance?
-Does anyone know how to solve that problem with the arter97 kernel?
-I saw a lot of tests with CAF Kernel and CM12.1 with other phones and the battery life is really amazing. Is it possible to install CAF Kernel with CM12.1 on my Note 3? It would solve all my problems, I guess...
I'll wait for your answers, thank you in advance... and sorry for my English, I'm italian, after all... >.<

Try Lean Kernel 6.3.
But before flashing it, make sure you flash Kernel cleaner via Recovery (you can find Kernel cleaner zip file in Kernel threads)
Also make sure to Wipe (cache and dalvik) after installing Kernel.

And I am not using any Kernel tweaking apps. Stock setting in Lean Kernel is the best.

I apparently solved my problem by half, the battery life is okay when I'm on Wi-Fi and it lasts even 2 days (4h SOT), not that good when I use 3G/4G though. Do you have any advice for improve even more battery life? I still use Greenify and I unistalled some applications that I don't use (ChatOn, S Voice, S Note etc.).
Now, I'm finally happy (all 4G) :

Hello guys,
I have a oneplus one and have recently purchased a oneplus 2 but I am facing various issues and bugs. I am thinking about clean flashing and I have been doing quite a lot of reading. Can anyone tell me what in your experience is the most stable and bug free rom right now? I don't care about root or customization that much. I just want an issue less stable rom where everything works perfectly.
Regards

For me Hydrogen OS is most stable.

The only options are OxygenOS (stock ROM), HydrogenOS (stock Chinese ROM) or Cyanogenmod based ROM's.
All Cyanogenmod ROM's have no working fingerprint reader or laser auto-focus but are generally fairly stable (more stable than OxygenOS in my experience)
OxygenOS/HydrogenOS are the ONLY ROM's with working fingerprint/laser auto-focus and there are no custom ROM's based on these versions because Oneplus have no idea what they're doing.
Personally I opted for Exodus CM-based ROM. If you can't live without a fingerprint reader then OxygenOS or HydrogenOS are your only options.

OxygenOS
HydrogenOS
I have used HydrogenOS and the main reason I'm not a fan is that it's a pain in the backside to install updates, have to reflash Google Apps every single time and wipe system partition because GApps aren't installed by default. To be honest, I'd suggest OxygenOS. Stick to stock and you can't go wrong
Main differences on HydrogenOS: Terrible launcher that has no app drawer and instead has a sort of "All apps paginated" like the iPhone (EEEWWW) and a slide from bottom quick toggles page instead of it being in notification drawer.. Oh, and REALLY terribly done notification system. You have to add apps to priority notifications to see ANY notifications from them at all.
Seriously, stick to OxygenOS :good:
I am experiencing strange bugs with oxygen like fingerprint not responding and some weird battery issues. Are you on stock rom or did you flash some custom version of it? It there any version where I can flash gapps separately? The default gapps are consuming too much battery.

Here.
Your phone is waking up too often. I suggest use some app like better battery stats (Maybe there are new apps these days, I am talking from 2 years back) to identify the apps/services that is waking up your device so often.
Usual suspects are location based services. Updating your device location to Google is a battery drain.
what will be amazing is when Oxygen updates to Android 6.0.
I also didn't want to loose fingerprint & laser focus, so for now I'm on oxygen 2.1.1 with AK kernel 015 and very happy. As soon as CM supports fingerprint and laser focus I'm going with CM though....
Does anyone run AICP? It has always been the best and most stable rom on my last smartphone(mot g 2013)....
http://dwnld.aicp-rom.com/?device=oneplus2
(I'm still on OxygenOS)
Root, AK kernel, Greenify every fkn app except for whatsapp, snapchat, linkedin, fb, whatever else you dont want to hibernate.
I'm on hydrogen because my fingerprint reader is not working at all in oxygen but in hydrogen is working like a charm. Any advice?.
I'm not using the Hydrogen stock launcher -- what are the reasons to switch to Oxygen and will I have to setup a whole new system? Thanks!

In one week you couldĀ“t have tried and test them all. Why do you want to let other people decide? Everybody has his own preferences, so at the end you have to decide yourself.
Most of the roms are stable , unless you corrupt anything. Resurrection remix mm, cm 13, dirty unicorn mm , aicp, aokp, saosp all are stable for me , and my daily use also.
Official Cyanogen OS 12.1 works just fine. i dont see the point of using another ROM (ive already tested some roms with not big difference)
Guys thank you for your feedback. actually i didn't tried any one of them i wanted to try resurrection but apparently the youtube installation guide is removed, so i couldn't move on.

Secondly i am having issues with Cynogen 12.1 screen brightness is automatically 100% some times screen is non responsive. settings and google play shut down for no reason. that's why i wanted to try some other ROM.
Why do you need a video for Installation?

- Download the latest build
- Download Gapps
- Take a nandroid backup
- Recommended - Full wipe and factory reset
- Flash ROM using latest TWRP 2.8.6.x Recovery
- Flash Gapps
- Reboot.
- Enjoy!QUOTE]
Full wipe means System too,
For Gapps you can use Open Gapps (Arm, 6.0, i would choose Nano)
For TWRP you can use latest 3,0 (I recommend to install it with the Multirom App, so you are able to install more than one Rom)
If you are on 12.1, first install CM 13 Nightly because of the Firmware, or install the Firmware only.

du mm is my daily driver for me now....tried resurection remix mm but did not like it it lagged..DU is great
My choices are jgcaap, resurrection remix and nuclear reborn. All three roms are very very good, stable and battery friendly.
A0001 - oneplus one
My suggestion is Sultans CM 12.1 It is one of the most stable and smoothest roms, battery friendly and most of all it does not heat up with excessive use.
Go for dirty unicorn and stay dirty!
Sultan. The answer is always Sultan.
Either try Exodus 6: http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/orig-development/rom-exodus-android-6-oneplus-2-t3333818
Or try mine: http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/development/rom-t3333591
Picking out a ROM is like picking out socks. There are many choices, some better than others. I've never needed anybody to help me pick out socks.
Given the variety of answers above, you're just going to have to decide for yourself. There is no single best answer, besides straight CM13 nighties

Ressurection remix MM
Request please port a Dirty Unicorn Build for OnePlus 2 , The MM build.
Evenif I am using du mm right now yet somehow I am missing the old kitkat cm11s
i am using dirty unicorn and is fast and stable BUT all mm roms i tried(i think i've tried all the famous ones) have ****ty battery life.
i flashed 44s a week ago just for fun and going "back" to mm was the hardest thing
