Hi,
So I have this very much annoying problem which I have made a thread about it before and it's that I have always to choose either to use Touchwiz Home or Touchwiz easy home or knox, and even though I always choose Touchwiz home and make sure to check ALWAYS, it will come back asking me the same question when I hit home button.
The only solution to this problem was to reset the phone which helps, but the problem will appear again after few days or weeks.
I called Samsung Support and I spoke to a very nice person and I was told that the cause of this problem has to do with the kernel and some corrupted files there.
He said, my only solution is to change the motherboard, because if they put a new software, the problem will come back and the cost of the motherboard is 90% of the device value and since my phone was rooted before, I will have to pay the full price.
I told the guy that in status it shows now original and not custom, is there is a way that they can find out that my phone was once rooted before? He said yes, they will find it out because there is something that will show them history of the phone, something like that.
My question is, how can I clean up those files, how can I trick Samsung into thinking that my phone was never rooted before.
Thanks a lot guys in advance

just clear ur binary using triangle away(by chainfire)
if u have Knox, well, bad luck, there is not a way yet to reset it..
To check Knox,go to download mode, there should be something like Knox warranty there...
Or,if u ever installed samsung's 4.3 update u will have Knox..
if u have Knox and its tripped, install a custom rom and enjoy.
btw,be confident in front of Samsung care executives, they will most likely try to convince that u did mess up and u will have to pay.they did this to me,but at end they had to take my phone under full warranty...

Thanks man.
Actually just few minutes ago, I found a thread about Triangle away and I did reset that counter. It shows now original.
I'm heading to Samsung services and see what crap they will pull on me now!! hehe
cheers
It all depends if the technician cares or not.In other threads, they say that Samsung use a special cable to reset knox.

Talking about knox, I really don't know if it's official or not!!
Can you tell from the photo attached?
Knox warranty void: 0x1
So it is tripped and the warranty is void

You already void your warranty .... It shows Knox warranty Void 0x1 and you might end up paying them for repair. But if your country is part of EU .. then no need to worry about Knox crap.
It all comes down to Samsung warranty policy and your countrys consumer laws; and if Samsung cares about it.
Youll soon find out lol.
how about if I downgrade to 4.2.2? There was no knox back then.
Is it possible?
A downgrade is not possible afaik

I have the phone for over a year and the chrome from my bezel chipped of.
I went to Sammy Center and asked if the bezel can be changed with a new one.
They said that I have to change the screen because it comes with the bezel.
The dilemma I have is that when they replace the screen they will re-soft the phone and then I'll have KNOX (now I am on the old bootloader)
What do you guys think? Should I keep the phone "ugly" and knox free or have a shiny new screen but with knox 0x1 (I cannot help flashing some custom ROM ) ?

It depends on how bad the bezel has been chipped also are there charging for the repair?
I dropped my S4 but luckily it only chipped the bottom bezel and not the screen or front panel.

It only chipped by using it, not from drops
The guy from Sammy said it's free as long as I bring him a beer
Ok it depends if you find it slightly annoying.
Are you sure that they will update the boot loader if they send if for repair?
As far as I can see they will only change the physical appearance and not tamper with the mainboard but I could be wrong.
Hi,
It's all about you mate! You know what you want, and if Knox will be an issue then I'd prefer to keep the "ugly" device. But it was already said, how really damaged was it? Is it really annoying enough for you to do it? I'm not sure enough of what really got off, it it's what I'm thinking, can't you cover it with a case? Personally I dislike cases, but there are some that are simply amazing!
And I think it's a bit weird they reflash the device to change only an aesthetics part too .

Sorry to hijack this thread. Today on my phone saw KNOX icon. When tapping it wanted to install the app. My question is, what exactly KNOX does and should I install it? I don't experiment with custom ROMs, using only generic stock ROM.

Hi,
Shorting things up, KNOX is a security measure by Samsung, it is a bootloader with a binary that can never go back, once you're 0x1 (KNOX tripped) you can never go back to 0x0. And in some countries this means warranty voided.
How do you trip KNOX? Simple. Just flash any custom firmware on it, be it Kernel, System or Recovery. Anything will trip the KNOX, not that it will do any damage, but (please someone correct me if I'm wrong) every time you turn on your device you'll receive a message that your device was customized. AFAIK some companies are using KNOX as a security checkup, but I can't confirm it to you now.
I'm not really sure what the app does, but the bootloader is pretty much it. If you're on a completely Stock 4.3+ ROM you already have the bootloader, then I think you should not worry and install the app. But I'm confused, how could you have the bootloader, but not the app too... Anyway, for further information, please check this thread:

Thanks for the reply.
My S4 BE came with 4.4.2 already installed. It was on O2 and all I did was flashing generic stock ROM. Then after couple days I saw this KNOX icon.
So if I don't mess with custom ROMs I am OK with KNOX? Can I flash any stock ROM as long as its the same or newer version? I read somewhere, that some member flashed stock ROM and the KNOX counter changed to 0x1. (But I think it was attempted downgrade to 4.3 - must check it).
Right now my phone shows this and one more line : eMMC Burst mode : enabled.
Hi all
I bought a new samsung S4 i9505 ---without guaranty---
2 days ago the device started restarting and the sound goes dead and there can't be anything to make the device produce any sound neither from the front speaker nor from the main speaker nor even the headphones !!
I did a hard reset and voila -or i thought so- the device finally worked fine completely , until after about an hour when it started freaking out and not responding and the sound went dead again , restarting the device only sent it to a boot loop !
Finally today i installed a complete system using ODIN and it worked fine again for only an hour and then it went to the boot loop
I plugged the phone to the charger and powered it on and it worked smoothly but with no sound at all again :X
So can any guy help me sort this problem out please
Thanks in advance

Stores usually offer warranty.
So there's something odd at the middle.
Maybe you bought it from some dealer on the street..and those usually never sell you anything good.
Well the store did give me a warranty but only for software issues , and he said this must be a hardware issue.
So is this true ?

I asked WHEN, not WHERE.
When is time related. Where is location related.
Also, warranties usually are all-rounders. Meaning they offer service to software and hardware related issues.
So why did they offer only software?
Anyway. If it is hardware related then there is nothing you can do, except to change the parts.
LOL
My bad , i read it like where , and was like what difference does it make where i got it , my mistake
anyway as i said it is not a big firm or anything like that is just a small shop only providing software warranties
and as i said in the first post i got it about a month ago
i will try flashing with pit file
thanks for the advice

Didn't see that info
Anyway. What I am trying to say is that maybe they knew about the phone having issues and that's why they offered only software warranty (A bit paranoic, I know)
once the phone boots up try dialing *#0*# and let us know how that goes. This MAY be a kernel issue. happens when they probably have given you an S4 with a different model number, with a different firmware flashed. (sometimes i9505 vs. i9515 due to different chips) What is the model number shown in the download mode? i9505? And Knox Status?
The service tests all OK except both speaker tests
The download mode shows i9505
i don't know what this Knox is

So your bootloader doesnt say anything about knox? What version of android are you running?
KNOX cernerl lock : 0x0
KNOX warranty void: 0x1
i was on latest jellybean , tried flashing it with odin and the problem didn't go away
tried lollipop and it is just the same
when i turn the phone on it gives the booting sound hangs about a min or tow boots up , sometimes doesn't even complete booting, sometimes the sound stays functional for a few mins then stops sometimes it instantly after the boot stops
could it be some minor issue like battery malfunction maybe ?
or is it a big issue ?
i don't want to take it to samsung and pay the fix if i can fix it my self because i am not good at turkish and they speak so little english that i will not be able to make them understand the problem

Hey guys, I have a "little" problem . I was downgrading My Galaxy A5 (SM-A500FU) to 4.4.4 from 5.0.2 and somehow the result was hard bricked phone ? I have done a few downgrades before on the same phone with the same ODIN files and everything was fine, but now it wasn't, still searching the reason why. But that's not important now. Important is that my phone is in warranty. My phone wasn't rooted and Knox state was always 0x0 after every ODIN procedure. I always flashed with stock ROM from sammobile. About the warranty, my provider accepted the phone for repairing, but I'm confused will they fix it or return it as non-warranty-allowed actions like downgrading and ODIN manipulations. What do you think ? Thanks and sorry for my low english.
Please look in question answer for my thread about my repair, knox 1/0 no problem here, lol.

Dude let me tell you my experience... I had my phone taken in and it was clearly warranty void.. But i told them everything ,but not the part i was messing with kernels and recoverys, so they didnt check for the knox logs ... they just changed my mobo.. it was in warranty as well.. If you told them that you indeed downgraded then i guess there's a slight chance that they won't fix it.
Hope you don't have to pay for anything good luck

Ok, the results: I got my phone back without any problems, as far as I know the whole motherboard is replaced. But I have another question: Can I remove this notification about this software update (which was the reason to reinstall my phone, it completely buged my phone, now I don't want to do the same mistake) ? It's very annoying. Pics:

I never told them what ive done before the camera was broken, i only reported the error and thats all, 8 days later my phone was back with new camera, all runs perfect, in germany you loose waranty only when its 100% sure that the software you have installed the reason is that your phone is broken. In 99% its not software related so it was no problem.

Hello world. So thing is... Knox is tripped.. No Samsung stuff is working.. As usual.. But once I've read something that said it can be fixed by changing the mainboard (or whatever it's called). Is that true? If so.. How?
What?
I've tripped Knox on so many Samsung Devices, it should work no problem if you don't flash files wrong on the device.

I know.. What I meant was Samsung pay, Samsung health, and these applications are not working. The phone is okay, working like a charm, but I'm curious if changing the mainboard will fix knox or not.
Well yeah, if you obtain a logic board that hasn't had a custom binary (kernel / root / custom rom) flashed to it.

Alright. My phone is still "under warranty" but I don't know if they can fix it or not. Last time the company I bought a phone did repair it, even after the phone was rooted. But I don't know how Samsung does its stuff.. Should I try at them before or change it myself?

They will most likely charge you an out of warranty replacement, though replacement logic boards aren't that expensive in my opinion.
