The notification bar in Moto X Play lags out.
I thought it would turn out to be smooth as it was in Moto G 2nd gen, but it really lags which doesn't feel good at all.....
Is there any solution to remove that lag???
No. Motorola must be update rom.
Sent from my XT1562
if u have lags make a factory rest and then enable developer options and disable animation scale
Mine doesn't seem to lag. I may be true about not restoring from backup. I restored all apps through titanium instead.

Only when I play videos via YouTube, Facebook or instagram, is when it lags for me
Funny thing is that the notification bar and quick toggles is buttery smooth when you try opening them without unlocking to the home screen. I hope these small stutters can be addressed by Motorola soon.
It's not as smooth and quick as it is in moto g3 and moto g2....

Yeah definitely
Is it better to use cyanogenmod than the stock rom?
Related
I installed apeX last week and am amazed at how much better it is than stock. Everything is so much better....faster bootup, better battery life, faster ROM navigation, the list goes on.
The only issue I am having is the slider is still pretty jittery.
The LockBot app has a super smooth slider but would prefer to just use the apeX one if I can smooth it out.
Anyone else notice this or have a solution?
I don't think you can make it any smoother. I removed my lock screen altogether. I've found that build.prop mods are very crucial for non jittery performance on all ROMs I've run. Oh, and the jittery slide seems to just plague the X. Even my fiance's Ally has smooth lock sliders... go figure.
I too have apex 1.4.1 and love it. I use widget locker for my lock screen and use one of their custom sliders, the iphone esque to be exact. It is smooth as can be and works 100% of the time with no FC's.

Just askin'.
I hate how laggy it is. Feels like it drags down the experience. But MotoBlur 4.0.4 on the other hand.....least obtrusive skin out there right now, in my opinion.
^^ this. Especially the launcher, first thing I did when I got my atrix is install go launcher. Also, how the option to enable/disable Mobile Data is not in with the other wireless settings - its in the battery section - drove me mad for awhile
Laggy and seriously ugly. Can't stand the UI at all its just really really ugly.
Some of the widgets weren't too bad though but on the whole it wasn't a very nice experience. Installed a new launcher after using the phone for a couple of weeks. Glad to be on cm7 now.

The damn blue status bar that just looks weird with apps with a black background! Why couldn't they have just made it black?
Other than that and the laggy (but fortunately replaceable) launcher, its a pretty solid rom and Motorola added quite a few useful features.

I like the status bar except on apps with black backgrounds. I generally like the UI. It's quite sluggish, though.
I don't really dislike it. But I prefer the stock look

Note that I'm currently on Blur. I've been on it for about two weeks. Before then I was on custom ROMs.
I actually quite like Motoblur 2.3, only if it was anywhere as smooth as the Froyo Blur that our phones shipped with... I just hope that our ICS/JB Blur will be way smoother and better than what we currently have with Gingerbread.

I like Blur UI but not on stock Atrix Gingerbread. The newer GingerBlur is faster and smoother than old Blur like Atrix has. Newer GingerBlur on Bionic,Droid 4 and Razr is way better. Even I like it much more than Blur on ICS.

The Blur on the Razr looked cool as hell. I like that black dock, home screen transition and those blue themed widgets way better than what we have on the atrix!

I'm using xperia launcher on nottachtrick and it's far better than stock blur.
I like blur, never got what was so bad about it
Don't know how the launcher is laggy
in landscape mode opening up the app drawer take a second to load
but in portrait mode it is instant
scrolling is fast, no ghosting
apps open almost instantly
I think people here just need to install spare parts, fast animations plus some animations disabled plus compatibility mode and it flies
I like the actual launcher, I used to be thrown off by it because of the app drawer button on the side [g2x and defy had it in center] but I really like having CALL TORCHLIGHT CONTACTS APP DRAWER
I don't have any widgets except for wifi and gps toggle and my 4 basics text, browser, camera, navigation
I had a custom theme so I didn't have to deal with the blue
unfortunately no one has really worked on GB 2.3.5 themes for blur..just cyanogen themes
the camera app is GREAT

I'm waiting for the ICS update (like everyone else), and I thought that the best way to do it would be to go back to Blur. I'm considering switching to CM7 due to how long Motor's taking, but I try to stay away from custom ROMs anyway. By bootloader's software locked anyway.
From the UI point of view Motoblur 2.3 was a descent improvement and I can't really fault it. What ruined it for me both in 2.2 and 2.3 was the number of annoying bugs and one could tell both ROMs had no any kind of optimisations done on them giving the impression the phone is running on much slower CPU. I had previously listed all known bugs in 2.3 for Motorola, on their own Forums, and was updating it as I found more. Before Google purchased Motorola they decided to delete the entire forums to avoid bad publicity since Motorola was being hammered with late upgrades and not responding to anyone.
Generally applications crash more often on Motorola's GB version than other ROMs. Motorola released several updates, some significant, for US-users but nothing for the UK and many other countries where Atrix was sold well. It simply means Motorola knowing ignored the issues in their phones since last year or since GB was released.
I have almost removed everything that Motoblur didn't depend on so I could improve the overall performance of the phone. Without doing my own optimisation procedure I could not use Atrix for this long. Motorola has its own to blame for not investing more on the software side of Atrix and ruined a fantastic phone the money could buy. I'm glad Sanjay Jha is no longer with Motorola Mobility.

This.
My wife's stock Atrix cannot handle everyday apps like YouTube for example. Seems like that phone is running beta firmware and not mine.

Hi Fellas,
I'm wondering.. the G2 provides with 3 power-off animations to choose from. If you notice for those who are having lock screens, the retro TV off isn't very smooth. There is some graphical glitches at times.
Overall, I'm wondering does anyone know a hack to turn off the animations completely? That will definitely speed up the screen off lag.
I would love this too. None of the choices are attractive or smooth.

I noticed that when you preview them they're not the same as real world use. They're a ton smoother when they're applied than when you preview it. The fade one is the same as stock Android is it not?

I find retro TV to be the best. It's smooth for me and I think the "graphical glitches" you mentioned is part of the animation.

You are absolutely correct.
However, even with real world usage, the glitch does appear intermittently. And I'm pretty sure if I have my lock screen turned off, this glitch is not to be seen.
You can consider it as part of the animation, but I find it ugly The while light of the retro TV animation is supposed to be too fast to be seen as a whole chunk, but with the glitch on, you will see the "chunk" of light with some other colors in it. Not sure if ya guys get what I mean
I've recorded a clip of my retro TV power off animation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WRgkL5bO7Ak&feature=youtube_gdata_player
Is this the same effect as what you're getting on your side? I know the preview version if it looks horrendous but the actual animation is snappy and I like the look if it.
Sent from my LG-D802 using xda app-developers app
I've got the sprint ls980 variant and while I have the menu options to change my screen-off animation, none of them make a difference. The preview work, but the actual animation is unaffected. Also, the old CRT animation that was released with gingerbread looked infinitely better than the retro TV animation on here. LG made so many odd decisions with this phone. Though to be fair, the only other LG phone I've owned was the G2x, and it was vanilla-ish android, so I'm not very familiar with their UI, whatever calling it. Looks a lot like touchwiz to me.
EDIT: I just realized how old this thread is. Sorry for beating this dead horse, everybodies.
What are some of the best new features for Nougat? I went through all the settings and didn't find too much new stuff.
I really like the performance mode option, the new System UI, and Device Maintenance in general
i missed double tapping recents to quick switch to last app from when I had the V20. Now its feels nice. Plus seeing 3rd party notification icons at the always-on-display.
Like increased resolution, maintenance stuff, ability to force all apps into multi view (developer options)
Like scrolling screenshots too

Didn't know you could do that. Now i do.
Got my update earlier today, in my case the settings menu is nicer, the flashlight LED intensity slider is cool, and the overall look of the UI so far. Nova Launcher works great with Nougat.
Also using Nova

Where is this slider? I can't find it.
Tap once on the text of the icon, not on the icon itself.
I LOVE marking a message as read from the notification. Smaller toggles are nice too.
The only thing that I dislike is the removal of the fingerprint unlock animation but besides that I've been loving N since the start of the beta

If you take a screenshot while in 1080p mode then zoom in the difference is noticeable. But only if you zoom in. But I've tried using 1080p resolution for several days and saw no battery life increase so I just stick with 2k.
The fact I almost have my note 7 back
Thanks for the replies about screen resolution. I didn't notice any battery or speed difference either, that's why I asked.

Thank you.
I've got the phone for a week now. Most apps work fine as expected. But home launcher is too bad. Scrolling through pages isn't smooth at all as you would expect from a flagship. Home launcher is the first thing that makes an impression of the phone and this is a let down.
Any tips to make it smoother?
force gpu rendering then reboot ?
Try Nova launcher.
Settings/Developer Options/tick on "Force GPU Rendering" should make the beast smoother or snappier. If root available try L Speed/fstrim apps/Entropy found on Play Store! I guess the LG G6 is stuck on Android 7.0 at present, Android 7.1.2 might be smoother/faster or more optimized than 7.0
Tried the GPU rendering option. No change. Waiting for OTA update in the meanwhile.

Please explain. The first thing I noticed after taking the phone out of the box is this jagged scrolling of the launcher.
I maybe missing something. Do elaborate and I'll implement it.
