I was reading about this program from Samsung that could let you use your phone remotely and share your PC mouse and keyboard with the phone, and also show the phone's screen on your computer, and it would be really useful, but for some reason it says it's not compatible with the Galaxy S4. What gives?
I got it to work by downloading the apk and installing it manually, it works perfectly, and it's really useful. You can basically see the phone's screen on your PC and use it with keyboard and mouse, or share your PC's keyboard and mouse with the phone and operate your phone with them.
I wonder why Samsung decided to make the app impossible to find on any store when it works perfectly. But then again it's Crapsung we're talking about here.
I performed a clean install of Kangakat KTU84P with no problems on my i337 galaxy s4. In the past, I have been able to get the built in IR blaster to work with the WatchOn app (had to get it from Aptoide since it doesn't appear in the Play Store), but in the most recent build the IR blaster does not work. Is the IR blaster supported in the most recent build? Thanks.
(I can't post in the development thread yet)
Edit: I tried Smart IR Remote, which did work. WatchOn and other apps still do work, even though the IR LED turns on on command. Did the IR protocol change at 4.4.3/4.4.4?

I'm having trouble with my IR blaster after rooting. I didn't put a custom rom on my phone. I literally just rooted and removed bs verizon bloatware. Didn't change any settings and didn't remove any system apps.
The IR blaster was working before root, but now it just doesn't work at all. Is there a fix for this?
yes, but it's complicated
Getting root was the most complicated process that I've run across yet, for our variant, and I've flashed lots of handsets, from lots of carriers.
After I finally got root, I went on to install a custom 5.0 TouchWiz ROM from BigBot96.
I also ran the extreme debloating zip with ADB, from Elliwigy.
From there I just downloaded what I wanted from the Playstore like YouTube, and the Smart Remote from Peel Technologies.
My IR blaster works just fine. I set it up as a remote for the TV here, and the TV at work, I just 'change rooms'.
If you're looking for a diagnosis of your trouble, we need a bit more information.
How exactly did you 'remove bs Verizon bloatware'?
Considering the age of your post, you're probably never going to see this.

Holy ****. I didn't realize it doesnt have an ir port. Well **** that really sucks to be honest. Looks like I will have to buy a universal remote then for my TV.

Yeah. This is one big loss for me too. Use my Note 4 as universal remote. Now with S7E, there is no IR!
Stupis samsung!

This is an option. But its too big and ugly to have on s7E.

Correct, you cannot use Peel because the Galaxy S7 does not have an IR blaster (hardware).
However, if you have a Samsung Smart TV then you can use the "Remote for Samsung TV" app by FreeAppsTV to control it. FreeAppsTV made similar apps for other TV manufacturers as well.

It works well but there are a lot of ads. I am willing to pay $ for the ad free version but I can't find it.
It connects via Wi-Fi and enables you to power on and off the TV, change the source input, enter the TV menu, navigate the Hub (i.e. open Netflix, HBO Now, etc.), and control the TV volume. Unfortunately, because the Samsung TV is not able to control the volume on external speakers, the volume on external speakers cannot be adjusted.
In addition, if you have Comcast, Verizon, etc. then there are apps to control the cable box.
The Xfinity X1 Remote does not enable volume control either.

Thanks for this. It's working perfectly with my Samsung TV.
The main requirement for the phone to be use a remote is the IR Blaster which is not available with S7 and S7 Edge. It is not an issue but its just that you cannot really use the phone as a remote.
Thanks. Hope I answered your question
what device do you want to control?
Unfortunately the Samsung Galaxy S7 does not has IR blaster . You can use it as remote control by Wi Fi or with external IR blaster.
Hello and good afternoon. I just joined the community to seek for help and to look arround for cool stuff
Well, there is my problem:
I'm looking forward to use my dualshock 4 with my phone, but even if the device connects to it successfully, no input is recognized, this leaving the controller unusable until i disconnect it. No matter how much times i have tried (even with different IME apps) it won't recognize the controller inputs.
Is therd a workarround for this? My previous phone recognizes the controller fine and i have seen other lg phones using a dualshock 4 with no problems
My phone rom is stock (non rooted) running android 6.0.1
Thanks in advance!
As far as I can tell the Sony framework files don't seem to be included in this phone. However if you decide to root magisk seems to be the way to go for you as there is a download module called Sony framework that seems to add the framework files you would need for the duelshock 3 and 4
I don't know what that is.. Lol.. I'm sorry. But I'm sure it's awesome sauce...
You need root and this app:https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dancingpixelstudios.sixaxiscontroller
Works perfectly
