Pretty cool. That would be nice for websites that make use of mouse over (hover) functionality, at the very least. I wonder if it is specific to the keyboard / mouse in the video or would most mice work just as well?

The US version of the Tab does not allow connecting with a BT keyboard or mouse. Pairing works fine, it recognizes the keyboard & mouse as a keyboard and a mouse, but connection simply fails. Other Tab owners in the US have had the same problem. Ah, yes. Land of the free.
BTW, my firmware build number is DJ11, but on the pdadb.net site I see that the latest is DJ30. Under 'System updates' my Tab claims that it is up to date.
Any advice? Other than moving overseas? Maybe rooting & flashing new firmware?

DJ30 is for the Sprint version.
Flashing with European firmware will make this availalbe on your Tab.
I have t-mobile Galaxy Tab that I got from the day 1... and today, I was very disappointed with the fact that I can not get the Bt keyboard working with usa version.
Why all usa versions are crippled with no voice + now no BT keyboard...
Please... I do not want to return this cool tab, but I really want to use it with
the BT keyboard so that it can replace the netbook completely...( i got nice heavy performance labtop... already..)
I can bear with no voice.. but can some1 come with the solution for the BT keyboard pairing?

Thast Just not True, I have a US Tmobile Stock Tab with an Apple Keyboard, A Think Outside Mouse and an LG Speaker Phone attached, paired and working fine!!

How did u pair ur apple keyboard to tmobile tab?
I tried to pair, but I couldn't ...
It says 'type xxxxxxx to pair', but there is no window where I can type those numbers...
when I tried to pair with my galaxy s, I could type in the numbers, but it still dint connect...
I searched everywhere, and it seems all tab pairing with bt keyboards are from other countries, not us..
Any help?

I have found that if you simply type those numbers on the BT keyboard and then press Enter, the Tab will seem to acknowledge that it is proceeding with the connection: the 'type xxxxx to pair' message disappears the instant you hit Enter. However, that's where it stops. It does not actually connect to the keyboard. It's one thing to share phone numbers with someone, it's another thing to get that person to answer your call.
I think Samsung wants to see how well their keyboard dock sells before enabling this feature (I *hope*) in a future release of Android for the Tab. Don't lose hope yet! If this were an el-cheapo Android tablet, then I'd say there's probably no hope for it. But Samsung has put a lot of resources into this tablet, so there will be a lot of development (and hacking) for it. And a lot of users who spent a lot of money are very pissed off, even returning the tablets back to the store. That's good, let Samsung know you're angry!
Meanwhile, I have just received in the mail a Bluetooth developer's book. I will see what I can determine about the internals of BT on the Tab: I know the full BT stack is there because I did use it to transfer files with my Mac. I was also able to write an Android app that paired my HTC Incredible (which also prohibits connecting with a KB & mouse) with my BT mouse, but I didn't go as far as to connect and read mouse movements. Pairing is easy, connecting is the question. I'll try the keyboard next.
On the VZW Tab, I have been able to pair a keyboard, but not get it to connect either.
I tried the latest version of BlueInput off of the Teksoft, but it does the same thing - pairs, bur won't connect. (There's an earlier demo version in the market). I also tried KeyPro from the market (also demo), but it doesn't seem to recognize the keyboard I'm trying to use (gearxs bluetooth mini keyboard - it appears to be sold under other names - it came with a CD with Android drivers, but it pairs, but won't connect).

I have the T-Mobile US version and I can now also confirm it working for both mouse and keyboard. I bought a logitech revolution 5500 combo at best buy and they both paired without a hitch. Simply awesome I must say. Tab recognized them independently by name. When asked for pin for pairing the keyboard I entered it on the keyboard itself and then was connected upon hitting enter.

Ok, great! That's encouraging. So it looks like Verizon may be the culprit and not Samsung. I'm now considering taking a trip to BestBuy to see if I can trade my Verizon Tab for a different one, I think a Sprint model was available. I'll test it with a BT keyboard & mouse before I bring it home.
[edit] Were it not for a $90 restocking fee and an assurance from Sprint customer support that the Sprint model of the Tab does not support the HID Bluetooth profile, I might have traded my Verizon model for a Sprint model. Contrary to what the Sprint customer support person said, in the store I was able to get the Sprint model to *attempt* to connect to my Bluetooth mouse (which I brought with me). There was a menu option on the Sprint model that let me view Bluetooth connection options, allowing me to use the mouse as a HID device. I believe that the problem was an incompatibility with the mouse itself. This menu option is utterly absent on my Verizon model. Next time I go back I'll try bringing my Apple keyboard (the BestBuy I went to didn't have a Bluetooth keyboard in the whole building).

Ditto....works just fine for me on my stock t-mobile tab...
I'm not sure about BT keyboards but the kb-dock sold by Carphone Warehouse UK seems to be the Samsung keyboard and it looks pretty cool and holds the tab upright at a slight angle for visibility. Been sold at nearly £40. I'm thinking of getting it because it will save battery and can also plug the charger and headphone while docked. I don't have any bt keyboard anyway and that feels just right.

I have a MS BT mouse notebook 5000, It'll pair but will not connect no matter what I try. This is on a Sprint Tab. Anyone get a Sprint working with BT 5000?
On the other hand Im able to use my Motorola BT S9 head set as headphones and make Unlocked Skype 3g calls no problem.

As title stated I am just planning to use galaxy note as a device that let me control my bussiness pc even work as office.
There is only one video which is very good example of this on youtube
but ı want to know your experience.
My aim is that
1- Use galaxy note teamviewer to reach bussiness server and wake on line my personel bussiness computer
2- use galaxy note as a remote desktop connect it to a monitör with hdmı cable so that now ı am on vocation and using asus n1215 if this can happen ı am no longer bring this netbook with me. Insteead o this ı will buy a montör and use only galaxy note.
3- use microsoft wireless usb mouse and keyboard by connecting usb cable to galaxy note
If this is possible then every bussiness man no longer have to bring their little computers with them

I would like to do this with LogmeIn as well. But I think there is something you should conciser.
You are planning to use a USB mouse and keyboard? The HDMI connector would take up the Notes single port, so unless you have the right splitter, and the Note works with that splitter, I think you will need a bluetooth keyboard and mouse.
I just hope that the App works with the mouse HID drivers. I tried this with my Jailbroken iPhone with BT Mouse stack and the app would not recognize the mouse pointer.

In additon to this ı use Nokia N8 now and ı tried microsoft wireless keyboard and mouse by connecting usb device to nokia n8 and it works properly.
I hope galaxy note will be the my final smart phone and ı could use it all daily work activities.
If the soul purpose is to control work PC, why not get VPN to the office and use a proper laptop?
On Topic : I used teamviewer with Galaxy S II to help a friend and it was great.
When I get the note in 5 days, I can perform this experiment for you.

I use both Teamviewer and PocketCloud for remote connections to my computers. I use both on my GTab 8.9 and my SGS2. Spend the extra money on bluetooth KB/Mouse; it's the ONLY way you will be able to use both AND still use MHL for external display. On that note (no pun intended), both clients display at handset's native resolution for anything except for video. So, no matter what display you use (even 1080p display) you're still going to be "limited" to 1280*800 in your remote client (which really isn't that bad when you consider, that's basically laptop resolutions!).
Another thing worth mentioning is that Android doesn't really have a "right-click," so you're not going to be able to click your right mouse button in your RDP client and get a right-click response. Just FYI.
aside from this, are there any remote desktop apps for android that does not use any client-side..clients? everything i've seen so far needs to have a client installed on the pc

You can have right click depending on the app - Splashtop has long press left mouse button perform a windows right click for example.
I just saw the Galaxy Note at work today and omg what an awesome phone. I understand now that we have changed generations. This is really next gen! The display is incredible!
Anyway, it struck me as well. With the resolution beeing really close to the 1366x768 resolution on my computer. Im excited to know how this works! And if you already got it, congrats!
Interested to know which other apps work with keyboard/mice - Splashtop is the only one I've found that does (but been a while since I tried the others).
I've used Team Viewer a couple of times with my Note and I've even connected a bluetooth mouse to it, whats worth noting is that you will have 3 mouse cursers going on at once when using Team Viewer and a mouse connected to your phone, the mouse will have a curser and the Team Viewer will have a curser and then the client computer will have a curser. And you can't just click with your mouse and control the client mouse, you have to click and drag the Team Viewer mouse to move the client mouse. Left mouse button will click as normal once your Team Viewer mouse/client mouse is in position but right mouse button will function as the back button and try to close the app down, however, there is a mouse button on screen along the bottom that acts as a right mouse button. Hope this makes sense and is helpful!

Sounds awful, that's why I use Splashtop now.
I know you are able to use it as mouse or keyboard replacement for a PC (I assume this covers Mac as well), but how about another Android device?
Here is the thing, I bought an Android-on-a-stick device. You plug it into your TV's HDMI port and have ICS on the screen. Off course, this device doesn't come with any input options, but relies on USB, BT or WiFi for input. Since I have a HTC Desire that I no longer use except as music player, I thought it would be nice if I could incorporate something like GRemote but for another Android device, I suppose primary setup has to through USB, but after that it would be so much easier to use the screen of the Desire. Has anyone accomplished something like this, or are someone working on it and in need of Beta testers?

I am looking to get my phone to do screencast, I work either from home or in the office, and it is a pain to check IM's and SMS from the phone all day and night. I want to be able to just use the PC that I am working at.
I installed the SDK and attempted to get screencast to work on my rooted android 4.3 Note 3. However all I get is the picture of my phone, I can control the phone from the phone and the screencast updates, however it does not work in reverse whereby using the mouse and keyboard to control the phone.
I was just wondering if anyone has attempted this, has better solution, or knows that it will or will never work.

Hello, I have a Galaxy S4 i337 running 4.4.4 Kitkat. It is stock rooted. I have broken the screen and digitizer, so I cannot see what is on the screen and there is no touch input. The phone has a pattern lock with a backup pin. I know the pattern and possibly the backup pin, but I can't input them due to no touch input and I can't see the display. I have an MHL connector that shows the display on my TV, but I can't provide any input. I also have a USB OTG cable and a mouse and keyboard, but input with these devices is essentially useless since I can't see what's on the screen at the same time.
I was going to try the "Android Control" Windows app that I found here at XDA, however, I am unable to unlock the phone and then allow the PC to connect to the phone using ADB. I am referring to the "Allow USB debugging?" prompt. I believe USB debugging is enabled. Wifi is turned off, and bluetooth is turned off. I was thinking that I may be able to connect a bluetooth mouse and use the MHL adapter at the same time, but I can't enable bluetooth. I do not have a Samsung account, so I can't use the find my phone or whatever it's called to unlock it. Does anyone have ANY ideas of what I can try to gain access to the device? :fingers-crossed:
I'm sorry to hear that. I did the same thing trying to replace the glass on my phone. I'm sorry to tell you but you're going to have to go on to Amazon and order one the cheapest I found was for $77. I don't think there is any external application to unlock the pin pattern on your phone without being able to use the touch screen

There has to be some kind of back door or something. Surely Google isn't so inept that they have locked down MY device to the point that I have lost ALL of my data due to the lcd and digitizer being broken. Samsung Kies says that it isn't compatible and says to use something called Smart Switch, which won't work with the phone locked. I can presumably install software via the Google Play website, but that's the only thing that I am aware that I can do without operating the phone directly. I read about an app that can supposedly unlock your device if you install it from Google Play. I have no idea if it works, and that would only solve half of my problem. I still need to disable or bypass secure adb. If not for secure adb, I'd likely have full access to my device. Thanks Google; secure adb is awesome!
Ideally there would be an app that could be installed via Google Play that would automatically enable an FTP server on the device without any configuration. It would be preconfigured with the options in the documentation and would enable on install or after reboot. I have Filezilla and have used FTP before with the device via ES File Explorer, but I can't enable it with a broken lcd and digitizer.
There is a product called Samsung Remote Client/Server that I believe is intended for carrier unlocking devices. It is a paid product, but a free function of the software is the ability to bypass pattern lock. I can't get it to work though. It says:
"Opening Modemport at COM3"
"Bypassing Pattern lock...Please Wait..."
"Bypass Failed"
"Make sure you have set the correct modem or uart port as modemport!"
I have no idea what it is talking about regarding the port.
I read something about possibly being able to manually add my PC's RSA fingerprint to the device to allow adb to connect, but I can't access the filesystem to do this. As much as I despise Apple, I'm wondering if my data would be forever lost if I was using an iPhone and my screen broke. I'm betting either iTunes or one of the Apple stores could recover my data. I guess with Android, you're hosed if your device malfunctions.
Try sending an email to Josh at Mobile Tech Videos or give him a call. He has a shop in texas, and is the most knowledgable person on Galaxy phones of anyone I know outside of Samsung. You might be lucky enough to talk to him in person. (He's very busy.) He can probably get your data for you, for a reasonable price, and will also probably be forthcoming with any way you can do it yourself, if you ask. He is somewhat active here on XDA-Developers as @connexion2005.
Edit: I hadn't looked at his web site for some time. That note about not taking new orders has been up there for the better part of a year now. Also, it looks like he is making good money fixing blacklisted phones with his jtag equipment. So, I'm not sure if this is good advice or not. But it can't hurt anything to ask.
Thanks for the information. I'll look into it. I may have found a broken Galaxy S4 with a working screen and digitizer. If that pans out, I think I can connect the screen and digitizer from that phone to my phone and at least unlock the pattern and authorize my PC. I also found a dock on Amazon for $16 that supposedly lets you connect an HDMI cable and mouse and keyboard simultaneously. I'll try that if the other phone doesn't come through.
OTG cable
Use a generic OTG cable, then connect a wireless Keyboard/Mouse combo. I use one of these: Logitech K400 for my customers, works for most phones.

I have a semi-complex lock pattern. Using a mouse to input the pattern without being able to see the screen is virtually impossible. I have tried. Just getting it to accept the WRONG pattern 5x while hitting at least 4 points each time is very frustrating and nearly impossible. Unless the trackpad on the keyboard you linked works differently (touching the center of the pad centers the on-screen cursor), that method won't work. I doubt it works that way in my experience with laptop trackpads. The only solution that I know of regarding OTG would be to buy a dock that enables both HDMI and mouse input simultaneously.
Regardless, someone came through with a broken Galaxy S4 that I can possibly take the screen off of to at least unlock my phone, remove the pattern lock, and authorize my PC's connection via ADB. I'm about to tear into that now.
