hello,
I got Galaxy Note 3 (N9005) just two months back from Ebay. It was working perfectly since today morning I charged to 86% and unplugged it usually using 2.0 cable to charge the device but now its not powering UP, tried to unplug the battery , sim for several minutes but still the same issue
After plugging the charger again its vibrating every 3-4 seconds and showing battery with grey color and O written inside it after it a wrecked line showing at different points that's crossing the screen just like screen is damaged or OS is boot loop
Trying to power on while the charger is plugged it just show Samsung NOTE 3 screen and sometimes samsung logo gets load with blue LED continuously onn again the battery charging issue
youtube: chvRbwgT9n8 or U5B2By7fGII
but it does not show green battery any more
since its not starting up and only shows activity when its plugged in USB/Wall charger , unable to use it. is there any resolution on this most of the Note 3 users are complaining about the same issue
tried to boot it in recovery mode and restart the device from there but still no success
this issue is occurring for the last 3 hours and i am really annoyed how to resolve this issue
tried USB 3.0 as well with laptop but no success even after 30 minutes
if the battery is drained it should start with the charger plugged in but it isnt starting any more.
**Update
plugged on wall charger
started the mobile with Volume Up+ Power + Home key
erased to factory reset
wipe cache
rebooted
now its passing the samsung logo , annimation and then white Samsung Logo blinking with colors and after that again same battery showing
no custom rom installed on stock version i think its 4.2.2
Could be the battery.

It didn't worked out, same issue with a new battery set is not starting with Battery Power only starting up with charger plugged and giving the same battery sign
Still not sure whether its the Hardware or Software issue

If you turn it off but with charger power on, is it got charged(based on the battery animation)?.
If it's charged you could try odin back the firmware but if battery is low, then don't as it could brick your phone if it dies during flashing.
Else try to clean the usb port and 3 pins at battery compartment.
Not sure whether this is hardware of software.
Even the switch could cause such problem.

its just showing Grey Battery sign and vibrates every 3 seconds if push power button for around 7-10 seconds than samsung screen appear but that it same grey battery over and over again
not sure whether now my previous battery is dead or not
since after installed replacement battery its giving the same issue
sent for repair at a local service center, since out of warranty/ insurance
they are saying its unrepairable
The usb module on the phone is defective. Replace it.
But the phone is in dead state if not plugged in as the battery is showing 55% when installed on another set
I guess you're having this

Some what the same issue, cell phone is showing dead symptoms when not plugged in, not activity what so ever is done to start
but when its plugged in its giving Grey Battery Sign and vibration every 3 seconds
when its power on it does pass the Samsung animation but after that OS is not loaded
www.youtube.com/watch?v=U5B2By7fGII
**Update
It's for sure Hardware Issue, checked with different hardware persons and they all agree that its power IC issue that is why its displaying this behaviour
Also tried to load KitKat from Odin but Samsung Galaxy Note 3 logo flashes every 2 second after downloading is complete.

Hi all, my note 3 just died in a strange way.
2 hours ago i it was working in the train. When i got home it was about 10%. Took it out once while smoking and put it back charging again. Half an hour ago i turned on the screen to see if i got any messages. Turned of the screen again. Half an hour later i wanted to check again, but the phone was off.
It wont turn on anymore. Tried my second battery, not working. Checked my usb cable, it was charging my external battery.
After this i plugged the phone in to charge again to see what would happen. I dont see any battery icon in the screen, the led is also not working. The battery feels cold. But the area around the camera is pretty hot. Still won't do nothing.
Has anyone any idea what this unexpected dead is about? Not rooted, not wet, not dropped, like i said, i was checking my messages half an hour ago while it was charging.

Yes, it is not reacting to anything. I thought maybe the power button is bricked, but that would not explain why it is not showing the battery logo and led light while charging.

I will, just checking if this situation is familiar to anyone.
keep battery out while plug into pc and try going into recovery at same time or try pressing power on while battery out while stilled plugged into pc then if u see a screen plug battery back should charge leave 10 min then plug in wall

Plugged usb cable into my laptop, took out battery, connected phone to cable, tried recovery and power, both not working. The upper area of the phone gets hot though. So the laptop is giving power to it i guess.

Ok thanks, what a shame.
Any technical people who might have know what caused it? Could it be a power shortcut or some kind of malware in the background? It's a really stupid death.
Mine did this
Was only 2 weeks old.
Took it back to the shop, and got it replaced.
It wouldnt charge even with the phone off
Common fault with them
similar thing happened to my wifes s2 turned out to be the motherboard
I have visited a support center. They told me the battery was giving 4.2 Volt to the phone instead of 3.8 Volt. So the phone and the battery are both broke. He told me this doesn't happen often.
Hello.
When I try to turn on my N4, I hold power button, and after about 10 seconds Red light blinks (just once, if it's connected to USB that 1 blink last for 3 seconds, if connected to wall, it's just quick 1 blink. If it not connected anywhere there is no action at all, it just stays dead, no blinks, nothing). Same if I try to go in bootloader by holding volume down+power.
This happened after I successfully installed CM12, with no errors. Then I rebooted my phone, and it just stayed black as it is now. Battery was around 25~30% that time, and phone was connected to USB.
Did I bricked my phone totally? I am now trying to charge it up already for 1 hour... but it nothing changes.
I have searched here for similar problems, but couldn't find solution...
Edit: Charging already for 10h+ , still same..
Edit2: I removed battery, reconnected after a while, still same problem.
So I tested it with multimeter, it says 2.6V, but fully charged must be 3.8V. Could this be a problem? I was charging it for whole night.
Edit3: I just got new battery . But it looks the same.. phone doesn't boot up.. same red light blinks once.. so.. its my phone is dead? I can't believe that...
When I connect to PC usb, there are unrecognized deviced called "QHSUSB_DLOAD".
easy fix
Hold down the power button and the volume down button at the same time until phone reboots. If you see the little android no need to worry just let go and wait for your device to reboot on its own. This is not a factory reset it's just like restarting your device. :good:

I have tried that many times. Nothing. It's bootloader screen, but I can't get there. Nothing happens. If I keep holding volume down+power it just keep blinking once every ~10 seconds, same if I hold just power button. If phone is not connected to charger, there are no blinks at all.

I had the same problem a year ago, I tried to remove the battery, charging all night, and other solutions that I found online and no one worked.
Finally I found here in XDA a user with the same problem and his solution was charger the phone with a wireless charger, a friend of mine has one and I put the phone to charge and after a few minutes the screen goes on and the phone was charged, then I press power button and the nexus run again.
Hope this works.
Sorry for my bad English, I'm from Spain.
Good luck.
(I bought a wireless charger in case it happen again)
I don't know anyone with wireless charger. I already ordered a new battery, and then I probably will get wireless charger also. Ty.
But this problem is very weird if you think so.. I think it happened because of many aspects together:
1) Battery was already below 30%
2) I pretty regularly charge phone with USB (won't do it again)
3) It was connected to PC USB in same time.
4) I installed CM12 ROM in same time
So main reason I think is USB, that I restarted phone while it was on pretty low battery and with USB connected.. phone restarted and got invalid voltages and couldn't even boot up or charge phone. I also found an article which says, minimum voltage, when phone battery has 0%, it's 3.0V, so I was below that.. it just screwed everything and battery died. Well, I am not sure for 100% that it's battery fault, but I hope so, I really love my N4 and still wanna use it for long time, I hope it's not dead phone, just a dead battery. Lets see! I will update this thread , when I get my new battery (less than month probably).
Sorry, my english is also not perfect. I am from Latvia.
I was playing when it happened to me. The phone was very very hot and the battery was around 70%. When I put in the wireless charged and I can reboot the phone the battery was at 65%, so it had charge but the phone won't boot.
I charge my phone almost every day, sometimes with AC, others with USB (plugging to PC) or wireless that depends of my needs
I hope you can fix it. Good luck.
Btw. Do you know if battery charges with wireless charger, if it's removed from the phone?
Don't think it does, since the receiving coils for wireless charging are located just behind the glass back.

Major Issue Google
This "Nexus SOD" issue is showing up on many sites across the Internet. I have multiple "Nexus" devices including 2 Nexus 4, 1 Nexus 5, 2 "Nexus 7 2013". It suddenly started out of the blue with one of my Nexus 4 phones. Symptoms included rapid battery discharge. I am using Lollipop 5.1 on all devices. There are many claims as to the cause, Hardware Motherboard, Power Button etc. Others claim it is "Software Related" or App Related. The problem effects Nexus 4 and Nexus 5 phones. I have ordered a new motherboard for my nexus 4 device and see if that makes a difference.
This problem should warrant a "Major Android Lollipop Crisis Team" by Google to investigate the cause and let us know what it is and what Google is doing to solve the problem before moving to announce "Android M". This issue needs to brought up and actively pursued at the upcoming "Google I/O Conference" by the strong Android Developers Groups to press for "Formal Action"

I had this problem a long time ago and my fix worked for me after doing a little research it seems like this is a case called battery total discharge. The fix was simply to charge your phone using the wall adapter that came with your phone (I still use my old apple cube wall thing) and to wait for the red light to appear then wait about ten minutes before trying to reboot.
I just got new battery . But it looks the same.. phone doesn't boot up.. same red light blinks once.. so.. its my phone is dead? I can't believe that...

Just tried booting without battery, and connecting to wall. Same - red light blinks once, after I hold Power button or Power+Volume down for about 15 seconds. If I keep buttons pressed, it just repeats every ~15 seconds.
Power buttons works fine.
After I checked that Device manager thing in google.. it looks very bad.. phone is dead.. probably need to change motherboard. I am just shocked, how this could happen... I didn't receive any errors during CM12 installation. Phone just instantly died after restart.
I ordered a Samsung Galaxy Note 4 (SM-N910T) last week on Ebay. It is a refurbished one sold by a seller named Cellfeee. On the first day it came with 0 percent. So I charged it with the generic non-fast charging charger it came with and it worked good until it suddenly turned off on 5 percent and I couldn't turn it on until I put the charger on. The next day I used another charger with a fast charger (not sure if the charger was broken) and it took 7 hours all night to charge but it strangely last for 10 hours and shut off at 20 percent. Is this a common issue? Should I send it back or order a replacement battery?

I have the same issue my phone n910t shutdowns at 20% and sometimes at 15% and phone won't turn on.but i can enter download mode and it remains on for hours
but when i plug in fast charger back it shows same 15% then why the hell it won't turn on ?
I think its nothing wrong with my phone not refurbished never rooted it definitely could be bad battery..
I have the same problem with my 2 year old Note 4 - bought a new battery but that didn't fix it. Phone usually shuts off at around 15-20% battery. However, when I connect the charger it shows 0%.
So, either there's another hardware fault which is misreading the battery level, or there's a problem with latest Android or Samsung app which is causing it.

Try this
Dial*#0228# and press quick start at bottom of the screen and hit yes.
This will clear old battery calibration status.
Then turn off the phone and charge to 100% and reboot
And your new calibration status will create automatically.
I did this and now my phone is not shutting down at 15 or 20%.

Hey trex.. i have the same problem phone shuts down at 15 to 10% but when it shuts down it goes to bootloop whenever you power on the phone it goes again to bootloop but once you connect the phone to the charger it boots just fine! I'm on stock rom not rooted, 8 month old phone. Did you noticed this behavior n your phone or it's just me .

I tried that with 2 batteries. I have bought a now oem one and it's worse than the 2 years old one.
I have exactly the same problem as everyone else, the phone shuts down at 20-30-40% and sometimes even at 50%.
Edit: I was talking about the *#0228# method.

I never face any bootloop issue. after i recalibrate bettery status its perfectly fine.but still sometimes when phone heats up a lot while gaming and it shutdown at 5 or 8%.
Maybe you flash a clean stock firmware and make factory reset after flash should fix this bootloop issue.

Thanks for your reply, it isn't bootloop as i described but it fails to boot if the phone is not charged enough( it should be over 5 percent) it will go to Samsung logo the restarts again unless i connect the phone to the charger.. very strange behavior! This started to happen after November security update.. i was thinking to factory reset but i have too many apps and without TB i will suffer backing up all these data 😣.. if factory reset did not help i will send it back to Samsung service center and let them suffer 😈.. thanks for your help trex really appreciated.. cheers

It might be a software issue. The battery still lasts pretty long even though 20% is like 0%. So buying a new battery didn't help. Did you try a non-oem battery? if so, did it do the same?

It might be because your battery can't supply enough power. I had the same problem and brought it to Samsung, they said I only need to change the battery. And since I had another backup one, it was fine and decided to buy 2 more batteries just in case. No more problem so far.

I suppose its not come from the battery last time I already buy another battery but the same issued my phone shutdown at 20% ob Android 6.01, I roll back 5.1.1 everything ok with battery
We all know that since the stock marshmallow update everything has gone mad with the note 4.
My situation was when I was going home i had 52% battery and it kept discharging so fast that around 20% it just turned off.
After i got home for about 2 hrs, i tried charging the phone and it wasnt charging and was not turning on. No vibrations no anything.
So i decided to borrow a friend's note 4 to use its battery on my device, thinking that my battery was just damaged. But again it did not power on.
Tried connecting the phone to adb after pressing long to the power button and still cannot be detected.
Is this bricking due to the marshmallow update? And if so, how do you fix this problem?

Have a look under the thread "Note keeps freezing and restarting" there's a lot of information there! I am using the app mentioned on the "partial wake lock" option and so far it seems to be OK!
Hello.
So, I recently updated my phone 2 days ago for the first time after 2017, and the battery ran out while it was updating, and then it was boot looping and kept getting stuck at 28%.
I decided to reinstall the os on it (I installed the official rom that the phone came with). At first, everything seemed normal until I plugged it and after a while, the led indicator was showing that it was still charging but after I unplugged it from the charger, the light was still on and the screen was completely black and unresponsive.
After a while, the light shut off and after that, it never came on. I tried everything to get it on again: tried hard rebooting, trying to get into recovery, charging with different types of cables and with wireless charging also, basically every combination that came to mind. When I used the wireless charger, it showed that it was charging, but no signs of life on the phone. Samsung support wasn't that much of a help either, they only asked if I used a cable that worked on it and if the phone was water damaged or had any cracks.
Any help will be appreciated!!!

This same thing happened with my s7 edge 3-4 months ago.... i was installing some apps from play store... as usual the device was high at temperature..it turned off... for next a couple of days it was only rebooting when it was very pleasent at temperature... and sudden shutting down within minutes.. the last time it did not turn on but the blue light was on for 4-5 days until it decharged... when the battery fully drained it never accepted charging or turned on yet... i miss my s7 egde... i had many useful data saved in it.. i lost everything..
I know it was the cpu failure...

Looks like RAM failure. Heating phone's back side(after removing back panel with hair dryer for few seconds may help. Not a permanent solution, but for data backup.
