I found that after upgrading to 5.1.1, my phone is constantly having the msm_hsic_host wakelocks. As a result, the battery drains much faster than in 5.0.2. Anyone else is having similar issue?
I can't see this listed at all in Amplify on my device.
A quick Google has me guessing that this is used for USB OTG, so that explains why I have never seen it. What OTG device are you using? Maybe it's a problem with that.

No, I'm not using any OTG device. Since this msm_hsic_host wakelock is related to the 3G radio, I'm guessing it only happen when you get bad reception.
Oh I see, should of read more instead of guessing.
"The msm_hsic_host wakelock is because the 3G modem is connected to the phone as an external USB device controlled by the hsic host controller. When the modem wakes up for any reason (apps sync, location, tower ping, etc...) the wakelock is requested"
Yeah, I have data disabled and WiFi only. I guess it's hunting for a better signal or something. Doesn't make a difference on 4G vs 3G?

Haven't tried 3G because 4G is good here and I didn't see such wakelocks in 5.0.2.
Fair enough. I was no help but oh well, thread has been bumped so maybe someone else has a clue.
I'm guessing you have a locked bootloader and can't try a custom kernel, e.g. Zombie? I only ask as I read that it was apparently a bug in the Nexus 4 kernel in one case.

Yes, I've locked bootloader so custom kernel is not an option at the moment. Actually I also found N6 has a similar issue on 5.1.

You can't do anything about that wakelock. It's just the way it is.

Uhm... It's not 3g or 4g related.
I've set my Z on GSM only in network options as I don't have mobile data and use WiFi only.

I don't have any "weird" application running in the background, this happened with the original carrier ROM (telcel, México) and with a "debranded" canadian ROM.
The battery life just runs away, I've charged my phone fully and then I unplug it, leave it sitting there without touching it like an hour (just wifi enabled, no celular data at all) and I'm getting this.

6% drained in a hour without touching the device.
BTW: It's a SGH - I337M
This is my battery life. On att network. Try installing BBS and see if your getting wakelocks.

Definitely there's something wrong on mine... I'll install that and I'll let it "sleep" all night and see the results.
Thanks a lot. I'll come here again with my results.
Let BBS run at least 48hrs with no reboots to give you a full evaluation. That's what I do and I find the answer in couple of days.

So, I don't understand the application, I don't even know if I need to leave it open or what :/
I've solved it, it was the 4G antenna draining my battery life.
Do you have bad reception? Usually that causes severe battery drain. I'm glad you found what the issue is.

use a touchwiz rom - problem solved though it doesn't seem all that bad - considering it hasn't fully drained and you've also had a reboot of some sort which has screwed up the battery stats (random line/drop).

In the latest CM nightly, I have been able to get some really impressive results with almost 2 hours of screen-on time, games, wifi, calls, SMS, etc. i have more than 13 hours and I am right now at 75% charge. I found that, since I don't use NFC, simply disabling it, then deleting it (freezing it or just turning it off doesn't work) I was able to squeeze out even more juice.
At this rate, I'm on track for two days on a single charge, which is something I never thought I'd see on CM.
Your signal stinks. Try backing off the 4g lte until you really need the extra data speed. When the phone it idle and kn voice calls you don't need 4g. So keep it on 3g. You will have a better signal and that will greatly improve your battery life.
Sent from your phone. You should be careful where you leave that thing.

I'm using PA 3.99 currently and I really love it, I don't think it's the ROM causing bad battery life though.

I have the T-Mobile version and I've noticed some quirks and was hoping for some answers.
First Google Keyboard, why does it sound like a typewriter instead of the traditional ticking noises heard on the Galaxy S4?
Next is there a way to make WiFi Calling sound better? When I use cellular service the call quality sounds decent but during WiFi it sounds bad.
When I download something why doesn't it show up in downloads? I downloaded a new .apk from tapatalk to help them diagnose a problem with a forum. Went to my download app via app drawer and its not there. Had to go to the download folder via file manager to find it.
How do I access or turn off my clipboard. I use Dashlane and find this to be a huge security flaw. It stores way too many passwords or things.
Cyanogenmod support is this possible?

I also have t mobile variant of this phone, and I have not noticed the wifi issue you have explained. In fact it sounds a lot better for me, it might be your wifi itself, slow speeds = lower quality. Only thing I see fit is too get a faster wifi, or better signal. As for cm support its possible we are waiting for unlocked boot loader.

Tapatalk download in ANY phone won't show up because of the way it downloads. Dunno about clipboard. And..the phone hasn't been out for two weeks. Wait for more roms.

How much speed is needed for good WiFi calling? Perhaps it is my phone specifically. Typically I get around 50Mbps but for some reason I can't get past 35Mbps. Not sure what's going on.

Well I just got a replacement phone and it sounds the same. The guy at T-Mobile says he hears it too but doesn't think its bad. He thinks its just the way its designed. He went ahead and gave me a replacement just to "appease" the customer I'm sure but at the end of the day it sounds the same.

Oh, download bbs or gsam or any wakelock detector then. Never face that issue with rooting before.
Can you guide me how to troubleshoot?

To see which apps cause the wakelock you need wakelock detector. Better battery stats or gsam can help with that.

Same. Probably it refers to mobile data connection.
I just deleted all stored wifi access points and it cleared up.
I'm wondering if direct share being on was the culprit. I'll check and update.

I don't know. Sometimes it the chart does show it's off. Example , if I "forget" my wifi access points so basically device cannot auto connect or know the password of the access point then the chart shows no wifi connection.
