Ok ive been pulling my hair out for a while with this problem so im really hoping you guys can give me some answers or suggestions to help me fix it My Girlfriend has the Galaxy S5 SM-G900V. Baseband version G900VVRU2BOG5 So rooting or custom ROMS is out of the question so that leaves me with trying to diagnose and eliminate this problem without a easy way out.
Ok the problem is once she updated the phone to lollipop she had all the common problems that come with it over time i have slowly eliminated them with factory resets and cache cleaning and such although i have one problem that not even verizon can figure out. The phone itself with occassionally and randomly just refuse to make or receive calls its a very odd problem because the phone will send and receive sms and mms just fine when this happens but when we try to dial out it just sits at dialing and never connects, when calls are dialed into the phone it will ring 5 times or so then go to voice mail or just go straight to voicemail altogether without ever ringing the s5 shows no sign of anyone ever trying to call at all no ringing no records nothing. Once in a blue moon it will ring 4 times on the dial in and then the s5 will start ringing around the 5th ring which is extremely long time IMO. This happens very randomly and in all different locations i have disabled call blocking and auto reject i have tried safe mode to only experience the same problems, i have factory reset several times. Verizon opened a ticket with there tier 2 techs and network development team to check out the issue they tell us everything is completely fine and theres nothing they can see wrong. But they do not deny the problem is there they just cant explain it. Now get this, This is the second phone that has done this to her Ther first one had the same problem and was warranty claimed this is the second phone and same exact issues. Im not sure what else i can do i am a very tech savy person and this one has got me stumped the only thing i can see thats odd for me is the phone has 3 Phone services running in the background But I believe this may have something to do with the Touchwiz Easy Or Regular Home UI althought im not sure why it would use seperate apps. Anyway any input would be helpful Thanks

I just bought my xv6900 2 days ago and i noticed that each time my phone goes idle as it goes to sleep and when someone text messages me i dont get a notification until i turn on the phone again with the button on top of the phone. and also sometimes i dont receive a call and when i next turn back on my phone it says missed call..
does anyone perhaps have the same problem or know whats wrong with my phone?
I have had the same problem and can't figure it out. I've done a hard reset and that fixes it for a bit, but no long term solution.
I have the following Software Installed:
SPB Mobile Shell
VIP Ringtone Manager
Shubaroo Group SMS
Check this out

i have yet to install any other apps that didnt come with the phone. and i read that forum link u gave me, it doesnt seem to be my battery because i know my battery was at 80% when this happend. its such a nice phone but this really pisses me off. wish there was a solution.
I am having the same issue. I called verzion and they know nothing about it. Everyone who has this please call. I really like this phone but if it doesnt work like a phone its useless.
I've seen same problem on a Sprint Touch so it's not specific to Verizon.
I had 2 Sprint Touch phones side by side and one would not wake up from suspend for an incoming text or phone call. The second Touch worked properly and they had the exact same configuration. No clue why some of the HTC Vogue's have this issue and others don't.
I would call Verizon and ask for a swap if they ignore your problem.
Well I did a hard reset and it worked great for few days! Now back to normal.. looks like it is going back to verizon. Not sure what to get though.
Got the same problem but some days it works fine and some days it doesnt. I througth i had to much stuff saved or downloaded on the phone but when i removed programs that i downloaded that i never used it didnt fix anything so im puzzled like everyone else here.
same issue
I have had mine for several months now, i just had to do a hard reset recently and my phone has done the same exact thing ever since. I thought maybe it was a problem with polling. I did notice this time I hard reset, verizon did not have me set my A key, instead they changed something on their side and had me do a 228 reprogram. So i wonder if something is being changed via this new method ( the guy told me he just figured out he could do it this way and not require me to set my akey ).
Hi everyone, i am having a couple issues with my phone. Im no pro, but after rooting my old s3 i got thr s4 and rooted it before even making a call. i installed the pac-rom ROM and its been working great except for the following...
about 3 of 10 calls when answered is dead air, the person on the other end says it rings then stops to dead air..
also about 3 of 10 calls placed are dead air also, the person on the other end gets a ring and answers to dead air.. my call timer starts counting as a normal call would, not as if the phone is unable to gain a network connection to make the call, where the phone just wouldnt connect. i dont hear ringing.
its very annoying. not so much when making the call, but when trying to answer a work call then having to call them right back as they are trying to call you back and leaving a VM or something.. i talked with Telus, and of course they see nothing wrong. but they will only do so much as my phone has a custom rom and they just blame the problem on that regardless of whats actually causing it.
donation coming to whoever can get this fixed for me!
also, when i have google chrome open, or by using the google search bar, i cant google anything or go to my bank website from my phone. it seems that all secure webpages cant be viewed.. im also having a problem where some pages just wont load. wireless or not.. gives me a server error connection refused message.
im more worried about the connection problem than the surfing problem, any help is appreciated though! thanks!
anyone?
What device, what rom, what version of baseband, come on, more info will yield more answers...
If it's a 4.2 AOSP ROM, it's possible that the audio fix from cm hasn't been merged, and even if it has, there are still issues. There is a modified phone.apk you can try as well, just search the forums for it. This issue shouldn't be an issue much longer since it doesn't exist on 4.3

First off, I didn't find this anywhere on the forum, so I hope it's not a dupe - but it's a very annoying problem. I have a Galaxy S5 on KitKat. Here's the issues (pretty much all related):
Often times, I'll answer an incoming call successfully but the person on the other line simply hears a continuous ring cycle.
(Same as #1), but instead of hearing ring cycles - they get voicemail.
On other occasions my phone will be face up on a counter, I'll get a phone call, and when I walk over to the device it will "automatically answer" but the person never connects on the other line.
For all of these occasions, this seems to happen more frequently the first time someone tries to call me. Sometimes additional incoming calls from that number will go through with more success, but not all the time. Restarting the phone and pulling out the SIM card and battery not only do not fix the issue, but seem to consistently re-create the problem.
I should also note that I had Google voice as my provider for voicemail, but I have temporarily disabled that and set up my voicemail through Verizon - still doesn't help. Also 3rd party dialer apps like Dialer One do not make a difference.
Here are my settings:
Android Version 4.4.4 - Kitkat, no updates available (non rooted)
Blocking mode disabled
Motions and Gestures disabled
S-Voice disabled
Preferred network mode: LTE / CDMA **This seemed to solve the problem at first, but it came back immediately. (It was set to 'Global')
I've spent hours trying to fix this and contemplated rooting my device to try to get it to work, but to be honest I'd rather just exchange the phone for a new one before I did something like that. I also have not restored to Factory Default... but again that is preferably a last resort.
Any thoughts? I need a 100% working phone for my job and missing phone calls and having to call people back just isn't cutting it.

First try a data factory reset, if that doesn`t help refash the stock rom with odin 3.09 and after that factory reset/wipe cache in recovery.

Im having the same issue, i cleared the cache, did a factory reset and made sure s voice was turned off, it cleared the issue up for about a month. Recently i have been having this issue happen more and more. Im starting to think it may have something to do with the Bluetooth or the visual Voice mail / voice mail. Anyone else have any ideas on what else to try or do ? The only problem is recreating the environment to cause it to happen. Right now its completely random.
Haven't had a lot of luck with questions here for the last little while, but maybe someone has an idea as to why this would happen. My wife tried to call me 6 times yesterday. Not a single call came through or registered on my S7 Edge. She said all calls immediately went through to voice mail. When she got home, she stood right beside me and tried again and again, I was not notified of the call and it went right through to voice mail.
The phone had recently been rebooted. DND was not on. All sounds were on. The phone is not rooted and no apps like Greenify or anything like that running. After her last unsuccessful call to me, standing right beside me, I called her and it went through without an issue. She then tried to call me back and it worked. A minute or so later I received notification of her 2 voice mail messages from her previous calls. It's like the phone was in an extreme deep sleep. Which is pretty annoying considering I use the phone as a phone and I need calls to come through when they are made.
I took the phone into my carrier and they gave me a new sim card to try. I didn't have any issues with the previous sim card other than the issue from time to time of the first call I place being dropped and then the second call going through without issue. The signal is not fantastic in our condo, but I've never had someone tell me they have tried to call me and simply gone to vm before, so I don't know of any time of this happening previously. My wife had never had problems calling me before at all.
Anyone know what might have caused this?
No answers to this post,. Guess no one knows. Just another bizarre Samsung issue. Had it happen again today. My wife had to send me a Whatsapp message saying she couldn't call me. She said she called over and over again. No voice mail, no nothing. Never rang on my end or registered a call at all. Phone just didn't work until I called her and then she called me back and it worked. So sick of this thing working when it feels like it. Checked signal Not great, but no better than her signal and she never has any issues. She said she would call, it would just drop. No ringing, no voice mail, no nothing. Just call and then drop sound. Over and over again. Good thing this phone is only a $1000 device. Works great.
I don't have a solution for your problem, but had a similar issue when phoning my wife. It would ring on my side, but not on her side, then goes to voicemail. 2nd or 3rd time the call would go through to her to answer. Her phone wouldn't show any of the other calls. She was with a specific service provider and I moved her over to my provider. That is when the problems started as she was ported over to my provider. In the end it was on the provider's side where the problem was. They made some changes on her number profile and she could receive all calls and not random ones. Don't know the technical side of what the provider did, but they did admit they created her "call profile" incorrectly. Perhaps it's the same with you, that there is a setup on your profile that is not correct.
Thanks for the post, but I have contacted my provider. We use the same provider. Same settings. They reset everything for my phone and I reset everything on my end too. Still no solution. She does not have the same issues. Same phone. Same provider. Just sucks when you don't know if someone is trying to call you or not and if the phone actually works or not. I just want a phone that works all the time without having to worry about it. At the end of the day, that's all this is....a phone. If people can't call, well, that's an issue. I'm currently looking for work so it's even more important now than it's ever been.
Sorry to hear that you went the route of the provider and still no resolution. Maybe someone else can give light on the subject...

OK...What does that have to do with this thread that I created about my issue? I feel drunk...I think I need another drink. WTF?
What do you want? I had the ****ing same issue..solved it and deleted my message..
Try to flash some stock firm with Odin.. solved the very same issue for me!!!
So why did you delete the message then?
I have searched everywhere and tried every connection fix I could think to try but I cannot find the answer. Short of buying a new phone, I am running out of hope.
My international S8 on T-Mobile has up until now given me zero issues. The last month it has been acting up though. It is almost always unwilling to send phone calls and when it works the connection beep takes like 10-15 seconds before it works.. on the other end, people who call me say my phone goes straight to voicemail.
I have manually input connection settings. I full unrooted and clean installed factory firmware and I made sure it was not something as simple as being in 'do not disturb' mode. I am out of ideas and need your help. Thank you in advance anyone who may have some ideas!!!

I had the same issue.
Go to phone dialer and dial *#0011#.
when the screen comes up look to see if it says MIPI_Fail or something to that effect.
If it does then your radio is bad. This is a hardware problem. I had to send mine to the service center and they replaced the MB.
Good Luck
How you guys got in this in first place?

After update to Oreo phone showed no connection. Tried all the usual fixes and still had an X in signal bars.
I figured the dialer still worked the same as my Note 3 so I gave it a shot. It worked and went into service mode. That is where it said MIPI-Fail. Googled it and found out that means the radio is bad. Off to Samsung it went.:good:
