Two US Carrier Capable MOTO? - X Style (Pure) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I wonder if My dual sim Moto X Pure ORDERED can set up with Sprint and a T Mobile or Straight Talk SIM cards.
Thus, two cell numbers and setting for each? Maybe Sprint for data and
Straight Talk/T-Mobile for mobile and text.
Is that in the realm of possibilities?

It's not confirmed that it's a dual sim device, and its likely not to be.

Is T Mobile Neuxs 4 Unlocked?

Hey, I just wanna know if it's unlocked because t mobile told me it's not unlocked and this guy on youtube told me it's not unlocked but it's easy to unlock.. Yet I see soooo many forums that say it's unlocked. I need to know if it's unlocked cause I may be switching to Sprint due to the fact that they have more coverage in PA than T Mobile does even though I live in NY, i recently bought a house down in PA and my t mobile service sucks
If it isn't unlocked, please tell me how I can unlock it. Thank you.
It comes unlocked. But different technology than Sprint uses so it won't work for them. It will only work with carriers who use a SIM card.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
it is unlocked for gsm carriers
sprint and verizon are not gsm so you wont be able to use it with sprint.
and also there is NO possible way to use it on sprint. different bands different wireless technologies
The Nexus 4 is a GSM device not a CDMA device. A Sim-card is required to use the phone.

It is unlocked. You could use AT&T or one of their MVNO's like NET10. The deals are not as good for data, but they have better coverage outside the city. I would do a network scan while in PA and see what GSM carrier's show up. If you see AT&T, try a NET10 SIM for 1 month and if reception is strong enough, choose them or AT&T directly. If not, sell the N4 and look for a new phone and carrier. A friend who lives in the city, but has a house in PA uses Verizon because Sprint has poor data speeds there.

Incorrect. Only works on GSM carriers with sim. Verizon uses sim cards on their lte devices and putting that sim in a nexus 4 wouldn't work.

(Q) GSM settings on VZN

Is there any reason that the VZN rom had greyed out GSM settings. Does this mean that there are antennas that can be enabled with drivers or a SIM from ATT or TMobile?

The phone is a world phone which means you can put in any gsm SIM card and it will work with the Bands that the phone is equipped with. I have used it on T-Mobile and metropcs successfully so far.
Also the area is greyed out because Verizon doesn't have a gsm network for cellular use. Yet. Their LTE is deployed over gsm but it is data only.

you getting 4g and lte or 4g?
I get 4g h+ where T-Mobile has upgraded their towers.

Verizon would have GSM settings grayed out because it is not applicable to their network at all. The phone would come carrier locked so if you pop a sim card in from say TMobile then the phone still wont work. However if you were to unlock the phone (currently illegal last I heard, might change in a year or so though) it should theoretically work on ATT and TMobile and other GSM networks, although you may or may not have to manually input APN settings to get the network data working. The stock Verizon ROM though may also not include drivers for activating those radios bands wither, IDK if that is something they would do or not. All the versions of this phone use the Snapdragon 800 chipset, which has built in radios that can hit basically any network's frequency in the world.

This is completely and I mean completely wrong! ALL VERIZON LTE PHONES ARE UNLOCKED...... Which is why they are called world phones because you can, travel the world with them switching SIM cards and still have Verizon. I personally have done this with gs4, note2, droid maxx, motox, and now the lgg2

Well at most only a small part of what I said is wrong so thanks for trying to correct me in in a very dickish way. Unfortunately you are also wrong, not all Verizon phones come unlocked from them.
digitaltrends.com said:
AT&T will let you unlock your device permanently, provided your contract has already expired. AT&T customers still on contract may unlock their devices up to five times per year (for international travel purposes), as long as they don’t owe any past-due amount on their accounts, and have been a customer for 60 days or more.
Verizon sells all iPhone 5s unlocked, meaning you could take your device over to AT&T or T-Mobile without having to unlock the device. But other devices, like the Samsung Galaxy S3, are locked by Verizon. However, like AT&T, customers in good standing can request to have their devices unlocked for international travel.
Sprint does not offer unlocked devices, but it will allow customers to unlock their devices for travel after three months with the carrier.

All verizon LTE devices are unlocked out the box... wasn't being a. .... despite your assumptions the gs3 is unlocked so is all their world phones. And I never said all their phones were unlocked I stated all lte devices which are world phones are unlocked out the box. I currently have every phone that has come out since the gs3 and all work on T-Mobile with no call to verizon. But I am not going to argue about it. My apologies to the op simply stating what I know is true...

Should be the same process that you use for other Sprint phones. I believe you guys have to call Sprint and move your sim to activate. Read up on Nexus 6 activation. It should be the same.
Sent from my VS986 using Tapatalk
The best and quickest way to do this would be to take the phone to the store once you get it, let them enter the imei, etc. into the system, and once it activates (and it will, since your sim will already be in the phone...), that will be that.
For Verizon: https://forums.motorola.com/posts/e570e4be47.

I don't know about this device specifically, but I'm on AT&T and I've swapped devices by simply switching the SIM. Never had an issue with this.
ATT as well and can agree just popping in a existing sim no activation needed. Bought a micro to nano cutter to be ready for when my MXP get here.
I just did a chat with sprint asked for a nano sim they asked what phone told them they said no problem so it looks like this wont be to bad

Yeah you'll need a compatible SIM and you'll still have to get in touch with sprint to have them activate it to your line. I know for a fact the SIM that the iPhone uses won't work, the only compatible SIM that is currently in use on other Sprint models that will also work with the X Pure is the SIM the HTC one M9 uses. Just go into a Sprint store when you get your X and they'll have one
Since the phone is just getting out there, it's not officially sold through Sprint (or Verizon), at this point, the trickle down info the online reps will have is going to vary, and different and confusing things can happen. The simplest way for CDMA customers to get going with this phone is to contact them, either by phone or in store, and activate whatever they need to on top of whatever you put into your phone from your existing one. Note: this phone uses a Nano, NOT a micro, sim card. This being the case, unless you want to buy a fitter, or feel comfortable cutting your sim card to fit, it would be best to just get a new one. GSM customers (like ATT & T-Mo) do not need to worry about any of this (aside from Band 12/wifi calling stuff, which is way more advanced than this thread, but I'll be looking into....QXDM, etc...), since the sim card being inserted for the first time will automatically download all of the pertinent information to get you going .
I ordered a Sim cutter so I can just use my G4 Sim. Verizon is notorious for not giving Sims for devices they don't sell.

Why wouldn't your iPhone sim work? I have a Verizon iPhone, and swap my sim with all kinds of android devices nearly every day. There has never been a problem. They use the exact same sim card. In fact, it is already a nano-sim as well so it would fit perfectly in the MXP.

Let me start by saying I'm a technician at a Sprint store, yes that works on Verizon and any GSM carrier but with Sprint the SIM card doesn't carry your mobile subscriber identity it just allows the phone access to our 4G LTE network. So yes the X pure takes a nano SIM, same size as the iPhone but we have many different SIM card SKUs for all our 4G phones and ones that work with some are not compatible to work with other phones. As I already said the only phone currently on the sprint network that uses the same nano SIM that will also work with the X pure is the HTC One m9 SIM but even if you aren't coming from the m9 you can just go into a sprint store and pick up the specific SIM we have tons of all SIMs in stock in the back for these specific reasons

You'll need to provide them the ESN, they'll activate it to your line and also activate the SIM to the phone at the same time and pop it in the phone, they should know what SIM to use it was already mentioned in our introduction material provided to us, if the rep seems like they have no idea just mention it's the same SIM the m9 uses

Good to know, I was wondering about this myself as I currently have the Nexus 6 on Sprint. When I do receive it, I'll just pop in at Sprint and get a SIM and let them do their thing. Appreciate it!
Edit: Would you by any chance know if Sprint will support VoLTE with the Pure? (In the select markets that it's available?)

Wait, so, the Moto X uses a nano? Google tells me that is what my HTC One M8 has. So I just swap the sim card and I'm good to go?
First time getting a phone that isn't through Verizon so I'm inexperienced in this kind of thing

Will this phone work on Straight Talk?

Does anyone know if this phone will work with the Verizon/Straight Talk service? I am currently using a Note 3 and am looking to get a new phone.
Sent from my SM-N900V using XDA Free mobile app
I know for fact that it will. A friend of mine activated his with Straight Talk a few weeks after launch. If you already have a compatible SIM, then it should be swap and go. Since he activated new service, there were some hiccups since it was a new to the network phone, but he hasn't had a single problem using Straight Talk on Verizon.
Yes it will
It will work on all three carriers. At&t, Verizon and T-mobile Straight Talk BYOP Sims.
Yep, I just transferred my phone number from a nexus 5 to my moto x by just getting a nano sim card and it transferred it in less than 5 minutes.

Sprint Activation?

Hello, just wondering how hard is to activate an N6P in Sprint and also how good has been working just thinking on get one of this phones. thanks in advance.
Activation went without any issue. Service is good. Only drawback is that wifi calling is not available.
I upgraded from a M8 and had to get a new Sim chip. Once I tracked one down at a sprint store it was pretty easy.
Quick and easy activation. A quick note that the required sim for Nexus 6p is not carried in all Sprint stores, at least not my local one because it's the size of a closet compared to the one I was refered to that had the sim. Call quality and data speeds are great in my area. Hope you are able to activate yours soon!
Easy as ****. Walked in, told them what was up, they went in the back and got a sim card. Took less than 20 minutes
thanks guys, I have the Moto X pure edition, can be the same sim card or is different?
Just get a new sim to be safe. It's free.
