Phone wacked out and I need help - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I am usually good about finding solutions to my problem but this one has me stumped.
Phone: LG G2 VS980
Rom: Xdabbeb 3.1.1/3.1.2
I was typing on the Google Now search bar when all if a sudden my phone rebooted. It came back on and went to the home screen bypassing my lock screen. Now my lock screen will not come back, my home and recent button do not work, volume keys do not work, notification light works but the notifications themselves do not show.
Things tried:
Turning it off an on again
Changing device lock options (from knock-code to none to swipe)
Clearing cache and dalvik-cache
Updating from Xdabbeb 3.1.1 to 3.1.2
This fix: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2777889
Any ideas would be appreciated. Sounds like many different types of phone have had this happen and the only fix seems to be a hard reset which I would like to avoid.
Thanks

2015 Moto X Style - Screen Goes Black w/Onscreen Nav Buttons Showing!

Hi there ...
I've had my Moto X Style for about 6 weeks now & I totally love it ..
BUT, in the last 2 weeks, with no patterns showing, the screen will go black all of a sudden multiple times a day.?
While using an app, the onscreen buttons are there, haptic works on the buttons, black screen, but I have no more app access.?
I can press & hold the power button & shutdown fine. I even cleared the cache' of all my apps using an app, made no difference.?
I'm running out of idea's.?
Falling short of doing a factory reset, does anyone know how to fix this.?
The phone worked perfect for 4 weeks with ALL my apps installed back then,
so I don't know why it's going funny now.? Getting very annoying now, please help!?
On a specific app, or any app?
That's just it, I don't know, coz its random! - But I do take note, but nothing seems to follow any pattern as such.!?
Sent from my Moto X Style!
I have seen this after the phone has been unlocked by trusted device connection with BT and carkit. After disconnect and then trying to unlock the phone with pattern only the on screen buttons are there and no pattern.
Sometimes I tried twisting the phone so it goes in to camera and then swiping to view already taken images. This should give the lock pattern but I also get the black screen with only the buttons. After some retries I get a crash from Nova launcher (message is something like Nova launcher did not respond) after clicking the ok button the unlock pattern is back and I can unlock the phone. Other times this doesn't work, not within the amount of retry's I did, and I have to reboot the phone
Note: When you use the phone right after disconnect, before it's locked again you can use apps, sometimes only active apps, sometimes even start new ones. But after a while it will lock. Probably because it lost connection with the trusted device. After that same problem, can't unlock it again
I Had the same issue after I installed the Microsoft's AppComparison app (I don't know why I installed that app). But a factory reset solve the problem.

Screen wakes up all the time

Hey there,
I've a big issue for a few months already.
My S4 jflte always wakes up whenever the screen turns off.
I tried to figure out where it's caused by and when I cut off the soft buttons (home/menu/back) and started the phone, the screen didn't wake up anymore.
As far as I know there is no way to repair this w/o damaging the screen itself.
So could I block the buttons from waking up the screen?
As you can see when a app is opened and the screen turns off automatically and turns on again, the home screen appears and puts the app in the background.
youtube(.)com/watch?v=Bhul9UMJ8l4 (I don't have 10 posts yet so I have to post it this way. Sorry)
Could anyone help me? I've been researching for a long time and found no solution.
Says video not found.
Are you on a stock rom?
The Video is working fine for me. Did you copy the whole link and did you remove the brackets? ( )
I'm on AOSP 6.0.1 Kernel 3.4.110-Alucard-PWR-CORE from JDCTeam.
I tried different ROMs so far (including the Stock) and it's definitely a hardware issue.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bhul9UMJ8l4
have you been doing full wipes inbetween roms ? if you have then maybe it's a hardware issue.
Yes, I've always done full wipes. I'm pretty sure it's a hardware issue. Is there any way to block the keys from waking up the phone? I usually use the power button anyways to wake up the phone.
You can probably disable the keys altogether. Or maybe just the menu and back key, and leave only the home button functional.
There is no way to do it with that rom yet, but you could use Xposed and Gravity Box.
Most apps nowadays offer inbuilt menu and back options anyway.
Before you try to disconnect any buttons, try to clean the phone. That has solved many problems in the past.
Look for disassemble S4 videos on youtube, and for cleaning use a small paintbrush, or a very soft toothbrush, and Isoprophyl Alcohol(70% clean alcohol, 30% pure water), you can buy that in the Apotheke.
Clean the board an all other reachable electronics. Let it dry, reassemble and see if it helped.
Thanks for the tips, but I've already done that before (twice) without success.
I'm looking for a way to disable the keys from waking up the screen. I've tried it with the key configuration files in the system, but it didn't work.
Example: When I press the home button the screen wakes up. I just want to disable the wake up for all buttons except for the power button.
Does anyone know a app for this? Or a mod for xposed?
There is no actual "wake up" function assigned to the back and menu key. Only the home button has one. So there's nothing you can disable, except for the keys altogether. I already suggested you how to do that in the 5th reply to this thread.
I've found a work-around. I disabled the keys with 'Xposed Additions' while the screen is turned off or locked.
Thanks alot for your help guys!

Moto X Style On Screen buttons not working

Some basic info before i begin:
Phone: Moto X Style/Pure on android 5.1.1 (XT1572)
It is rooted, but no custom roms are installed.
So basically what happened was I dropped by phone, then all of a sudden the on screen (Home, Back and Multitasking) buttons started to become unresponsive and started ghosting. I have restarted so many times just to exit an app. After several restarts, my on screen (home, back and multitask) buttons have stopped working.
Firstly my basic and short term solution was to install a 3rd party on screen button app from the play store, this would put a second set of on screen buttons above the stock on screen buttons. But before this I noticed that the on screen buttons actually worked when rotated so that instead of being on the bottom of the screen they would be on top. The on screen buttons also work when i boot into recovery mode, my custom recovery is TWRP. I also wiped dalvik cache and reinstalled my apps through the recovery setup.
I dont know whats going on, I even made it so that when my on screen buttons moved to the top of the screen, i would click on apps from the bottom of the screen and it would work. It doesnt seem to be a hardware issue as i have confirmed it to be working through TWRP and tapping on apps from the bottom of the screen, confirming that my touch screen is working perfectly. The on screen buttons also work and it being detected when TalkBack is enabled.
Help me plez.
Common hardware problem, use developer option to see your input and tap, if it brake when on nav bar, then IT IS HARDWARE PROBLEM.

Hi, I enabled Show Touches in my Developer Options and when I put my finger on the actual nav bar, the pointer stops just above it.
Idk if its a hardware problem, but i did drop it. And it still works in TWRP and TalkBack enabled.

The touch screen issue of this device is hardware related, born with such flaw, you will have it even you didn't drop it.
No sure how it happened, but it helps if you can take it apart and clean the connector a bit and make sure you reconnect it firmly, if that doesn't work, you will have to replace the touch screen part or the whole screen and touch screen and rear frame and stuff, but do notice: it's likely to happen again.

Back and Recents Buttons Disappeared / Not Working?

I have noticed that my back and recents buttons seem to have stopped working. I had them set so that they were always lit up but they've disappeared.
Has this happened to anyone else and did you manage to fix it? I've looked through the settings and can't see that I've changed anything.
Currently running Action Launcher.
I have noticed that if I touch the Home button briefly, when using the Sense launcher, two small symbols appear briefly - a "b" and something else... Have I accidentally engaged some accessibility feature unwittingly?
ETA: I properly switched it off and restarted it, and the buttons reappeared, lit up as expected. It was a bit of a worry though. Hopefully this will not reoccur.

HELP! Can't get past lock screen (Pie Stable)

I was on official Pie beta (which worked excellent for me) with locked bootloader and today morning I got OTA for Pie stable. I thought what could possibly go wrong and updated it.
After updating successfully, On lock screen, I swiped up to enter my password, and it just showed me black screen. I tried various ways to go past that black screen. Nothing seemed to work. I tried reflashing Pie BETA zip from SD card in recovery, but that also failed as it showed error that it cannot flash old version when on new version. I don't want to factory reset as all my important app data will be gone. I can't even set the USB connectivity behaviour to MTP as selecting that option also shows me black screen. I am able to use camera and google assistant directly via lock screen but when trying to do anything else it shows me that black screen. I tried clearing cache from recovery, but that also didn't get me past that black screen. I can receive calls but can't do anything else. Even Whatsapp Web is working but I cannot open Whatsapp from my phone. I can't afford to factory reset as all my assignments are there in an app.
My last bet is to wait for someone or Asus to post Pie Stable zip and then reflash that zip from stock recovery via SD card.
If someone have any solution or has suffered from similar problem, please help
Hi,
I was also facing the same issue after updating to android Pie.
Here is a way around, using which I was able to access the phone.
Press power button.
You will be able to see the lock screen.
On the bottom bar, you will be able to see buttons,
on left, mic
in middle lock
and on right camera.
Swipe mic button, it will open the google assistance, however, it will ask for unlocking the screen.
Once you unlock this screen, you can go back to home screen.
If all go right, you will be back on your home screen and now your lock functionality will also be working as expected

Thanks for answering
Entering password on that black screen also works.
Simply switch to a dark wallpaper instead of a light colour wallpaper.
