Problem installing SOME AOSP Roms. - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone,
I installed AICP lollipop (5.1.1) and have been using it for a while (installed using TWRP 2.8.7.1) , but because of some bugs and glitches , I decided to switch , I've tested CloudyG3 which is also lollipop, and works just fine , but I wanted to install Resurrection Remix because its similar to AICP and probably have less bugs I guess (Plus I just want to change). But when I did try to flash the latest build (20150822) on my D802 , I got this error "E:error executing updater binary in zip '/sdcard/roms/Resurrection-Remix-LP-v5.5.4-20150822-D802.zip'" and then it says error flashing rom , says updating partition details and says done. And then nothing happens , I also tried LiquidSmooth which also gave the exact same error. It isn't a problem with the bootstack or anything because I can install other Lollipop roms , both 5.1.1 and 5.0.2 without any problems, but these are both giving these same errors.
I've tried to look around to find what could fix this issue and so far I've found one thread with the same problem , which unfortunately, was not applicable to my device.
Thanks for the help.

Try to reboot the recovery roght after you enter in recovery mode. You can do this in Twrp reboot tab. Than you should have no problem

nope no luck , didn't help with any ROM , tried Liquid Smooth , Validus and Resurrection Remix.
Really weird ... why only some ROMs and not all Lollipop ROMs...
Anyway thanks a lot for the help...

maybe you can try to reflash twrp again

RR is the only ROM that still needs the lokified bootstack. Just flash it and you're good to go.

Lokified bootstack?
Don't know what that actually means , I just went the OTA route to LP and then rooted the phone. So I have LP bootstack , if I do flash Lokified bootstack , how do I go back to LP bootstack? (If it actually gets affected)
thanks a lot for the help tho.
EDIT: Couldn't find much on the topic , and I'm getting the same problem on Liquid Smooth (http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g2/development/rom-liquidsmooth-v4-0-lg-g2-t2948395) and Validus (http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g2/development/rom-gzr-validus-rom-official-t3007168). If the reason really is the bootstack then these should have the same "Lokified bootstack" as well.
I've also read that verifying the MD5 fixes this issue sometimes , but some of the ROMs don't have those , so how do I verify them?

[Q] bug when I install CM 11 to my LG G2

I tried several times to install CM 11 to my LG G2
I have twrp 2.6.3.4
The flash of the Rom is correct, the gapps too
but when my phone in on, I have several bugs:
android process, clavier,... stopped and I was obliged to restore my phone
An Idea ?
I tried to install the CM 10.2 stable with the same Twrp, and the flash is refused ....
Try installing it with CWM instead of TWRP. Everything I've read has said CM and TWRP don't play nice together on the G2.
Sent from CAMACHO, my Verizon G2 (VS980) running PAC ROM.
Impossible to install an other recovery ....
I have followed this tuto:

Do you have another method ?

Really try Philz recovery in Original for cm11 a lot of ppl have same prob with twrp idk why.....just download Philz then go to recovery then wipe cache and davlik then install philz the wipe cache and davlik again....wiping cache and davlik prob isn't needed but a habit for me can't hurt then....when finished reboot!
---------- Post added at 02:13 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:11 PM ----------
And you prob already know but to install ROM wipe system, data, cache and davlik the install ROM then gapps then wipe cache and davlik again and reboot!

Just seems like more ppl have had success without any hiccups with Philz recovery but 3.3 supports 4.4 as well ...so try either one
Thanks to help me to find THE solution
It was the TWRP 2.6.3.4 which has a problem !
I have replace it by TWRP 2.6.3.3 and all is OK !....
I think this issue ought to be known but I don't know where give this feed back ...
May be, you know better than me where give this information ?......

with the Twrp, it's impossible to make a back-up ==> obliged to install the recovery Philz .....
But it's imcompatible with Kitkat !.....
I'll put my self the feed-back in the right thread !....
I have twrp 2.6.3.4 aswell and for some reason i cant install cm10.2, only cm11 nightly... But after install gapps and cm11, auto hide softkeys doesnt hide the keys, already desinstalled but still doesnt hide them. On stock LG g2 rooted used to work just fine

Lg g3 d856 kitkat/lollipop root and twrp

Rooting the KITKAT or LOLLIPOP the one click rooting method is working fine for me. Here is the link
Now come to the main point TWRP
KITKAT : Download this . Install flashify from playstore and flash the recovery using it.
For lollipop :just Download the auto rec[/URL] . Install it and Open the app. Do what it says. Done.
If there is any problem, there is a fb page for D856.
For kitkat you can also try to simply install the twrp using flashify.
As for autorec contact me and I will add the d856 string into it and it will be valid
Hay
Can i install d858 rom on my d856
Thanks a lot, kaziupal! Have you managed to install any custom ROM with dual sim support using TWRP? Does backup/restore function work well?
Stuck on bootloop after editing build.prop
kaziupal said:
Well brother, first thing first If you have an LG G3 and the variant is D856 then regard yourself as an unlucky person who won't have any unofficial support , no custom rom no CM12, nothing brother we are the orphan here.
Ok, about rooting on KITKAT and LOLLIPOP the one click rooting method is working fine for me. Here is the link
Now come to the main point TWRP
Well there is no official or unofficial twrp for D856 ...
But there is for D858HK. So for kitkat download your LG G3 D856 original KDG form here
Download the Imageprep gui from https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BxHcXHUSGaDDeWsxT3BzRDZuUE0/view
Install it and do accordingly with this guide here
when downloading just download the D858hk TWRP and use the aboot image and laf image which is in your KDZ
IF you are doing it accordingly you will be able to do be in TWRP.
About lollipop it is easier, just Download the auto rec LG G3 D858HK variant , Install it and go to the build prop change the model number of your phone to D858HK and reboot the device. Open the auto rec app. Do what it says. Done.
If there is any problem, contac me

Hi, I was excited to see this thread as I had already rooted my LG G3 d856 but could not find any custom recovery or custom ROM for it. Since I was on lollipop I downloaded Autorec d858HK and the changed the model number of my phone to d858HK and rebooted but it hasn't been able to recover from the reboot. At this point, it seems hopeless as stock recovery is also not installed because I attempted to flash d855 recovery earlier through flashify and since then when i reboot to recovery it just shows error. Please help me and Thank you

A little bit more than:"it doesn't work"
What happens? Describe the procedure so we know why it didn't work. Which autorec? Disabled "mount namespace seperation" in supersu? What exactly doesn"t work.

You don´t have to use flashify afterwards.

firstly, will there be official marshmallow update for d856?
secondly, how do i get roms working flawlessly on my d856? is there a way since no roms seem to be supported for the d856?
thirdly, please explain to me the simple way of rooting my d856.
lastly, will i get the official marshmallow update (if it comes out) OTA if i root my d856?
Im sorry for so many questions. Tbh im regretting not checking the phone model before buying it.

TWRP 3.0.0, anyone tried? Test and feedback.

Hi guys,
TWRP 3.0.0 has just been released. Did any of you flash it?
I did not yet as I am trying a rom and don't need to flash anything until next week.
How about the following points?
- backup/restore ==> Does not map correctly efs, thus does not back it up.
- encryption ==> Confirmed OK on COS 12.1 by @geowolf1000, but failed on several CM13 (Sultan's version + official nightlies) data partition with no logic found yet. It seems to depend if encryption has been made on a CM12 then upgrade to CM13 or directly under CM13.
- f2fs support ==> Confirmed OK by @Haiqal Johari
- modems/firmwares flash ability ==> Confirmed OK by @Haiqal Johari
Unless there is one thread already, that might be good to centralize the feedbacks.
Download link ==> https://dl.twrp.me/bacon/
Official thread in OPO Original Android Development section ==> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2766186
Flashed the new version through TWRP 2.8.7.0.5 materialized. Good interface and quite smoother than the 2.8.7.0.5.
After that i flashed the BlissPop 6.0 Chimera (Hybrid-CAF) and it has booted succesfully.
The rest i did't tied it but i prefer much more the 3.0.0 version than others.
Also decrypt successfully for me
I did not test firmwares because latest cos 12. 1..1 works great to my needs

Unfortunately twrp-3.0.0-0-bacon has not EFS Partition for Backup! What is not good.
For comparison twrp-3.0.0-0-hammerhead has EFS Partition for Backup.
That is why I have flashed twrp-3.0.0-0-bacon-20160206_efs.img which has EFS Partition for Backup.

2018? Im on stock rom already flashed through stock recovery. I flashed those custom roms on latest 2196 firmware also tried that on older firmwares still no luck
ok then try this ... use adb sideload to install the rom .. google it its pretty easy to do .. then tell me what happens
i tried all custom roms and my phone was fully dead but i managed to get it alive again
here's the solution
after installing any custom rom
go to mount and mark on system
then go to file manager from setting in twrp
open system>etc>firmware then delete the first three folders, i have stock rom now i can't remember wat exactly it's name
enjoy your rom
