I would recommend the latest build of the SuperZen R19 and the custom kernel by TheSSJ V75 .... use the SSJActive Governor and the Sioplus for I/O ... then kindly report back!!
I agree, if I knew the battery would be this terrible, I'd never bought this phone.

yup, unhappy with battery backup eventhough it has 3000mah. also due to Android 5.0 bug
21% of Android OS bug for 2% screen use, yeah, Android OS seems to be THE issue of battery draining.
Here is the link to the 8 hours SOT http://forum.xda-developers.com/zenfone2/orig-development/rom-slimlp-t3169982/page11
It is infuriating. Seems to be impossible to get the phone to sleep properly. Today mine seems to have stuck permanently awake. And the WiFi seems to be almost always on, even when it is supposed to be completely off.

Bad it needs root.
I've installed Doze and when the screen is off, i see the difference.
Also don't use the buildin music player with bluetooth, this will KILL your battery.

At first i am only rooted because i am using TB and AdAway. No problem with battery life what so ever. I had also tried to use build-in music player for around 2 hours with wired earphone many times, but seems like it doesnt have much effect on the battery life too. Could be the bluetooth issue? i rarely turn on bluetooth.
BTW, have you turn off WiFi scanning option?
Could be that it is a Bluetooth issue then but I don't have it with VLc and Bluetooth playing.
If asus doesn't improve, I will try your setup.

Don't blame the phone. Mine sleeps like a baby (1-1.5% per hour) stock, unrooted. Your setup is the problem. I'm running Greenify, Opera Max, allow Autostart to only the apps I want AND most importantly denying data access and keep awake to non-essential apps. I've also disabled the crapware including Google music, playbooks etc that I've never used.
One more thing, Facebook, Viber, Skype, Twitter etc are killers too. I access fb via my browser (CM Browser). The stock browser is another battery killer.

the thing is, the earlier firmware version was working fine for me but not the latest one. also i have enabled only greenify in autostart manager. disabled all unwanted google and asus apps. also in sleep mode i have only max 2% battery drain issue. now using Project T kernel by @TheSSJ lets see how it performs

Posts like these make me feel lucky I got the CN version.
First I was angry and rushed to install the WW firmware but my battery got terrible, I barely made 3 hours ost.
Now I'm back to CN firmware with 5 hours ost with light use Internet, Facebook, calls, what's up .and 4 hours ost if I heavy game for 2 hours or more.
I don't know why CN got better battery I wish I could help but I can tell you it's not the phones fault.

Exactly. You need to reboot your phone just to be sure it will sleep properly if you are not going to be using it for a while. It's ridiculous.

i have bought my GN last week, once i have got the phone, i immediately update it to KK1 (2.3.6, Hongkong version) via OTA.
i have read many posts on XDA that you guys with 2.3.6 are happy with the battery life, however, it is not the case on me.
as you can see, i have used for 5 hours after unplugging from full-charge, the battery drains from 100% to 65%, during this 5 hours, i had 10min phone call, took 2-3 pictures using build in camera, about 10 whatsapp messages
do you guys think it is reasonable?
what should i do to fix it?

These third party ROMs all seem to have one issue or another based on what I've read in the threads. Better to just root it and remove apps and tweak yourself.
I haven't had any trouble with Sheep Rom. I think the problem with some kernels is that the phone is not entering deep sleep. You could try installing setcpu and forcing it to 200Mhz while the screen is off.

Completely agree. Wish I never screwed mine up with Odin. Wish I could get back to my stock ron and just root, but my stock ron can't be found. I'm on the Hong Kong non modified ron now and am as close to being happy as I can get without selling and really buying.
I had problems with the sheep rom not showing apps in the market that worked and showed fine on the stock rom. Yeah yeah yeah, I know there was probably a fix but I'm not willing to spend all my time fixing silly **** that wouldn't be a problem.

bunch to list (which I will do later) but go into running services. there should be a ton of crap (assuming your on stock) you can freeze. These are mostly stuff I would never use
Charged to 100% and left overnight...the drain was about 2% per hour...anyone can explain to me why..??...screenshots attached..
2% with wifi on is normal i think. just you off wifi then it will go < 1% /hr
You can use phone weaver to auto manage wifi. It will switch off at specific time and will switch on autometicaly at predefine time.
I manage to switch off data connection + wifi at 2am to 9am. and by bettery drain just 4% during this 7 hrs.

Hmm...but what about Android OS battery usage..its always high..??
wat is wrong with this, it showing you how much battery drained by OS. if your phone is workng then smthing shud use it na?
if your use is <1 %/hr, and that use, is with android OS mostly. it means not other than OS draining your battery.
Look to total battery draining/hr, and smthing (like ne service/application) over consuming battery, thn you have to worry for that..
And while using betterbatterystats...i saw in kernel wakelocks that vbus_present and deleted_wake_locks were on for a considerable amount of time...
Do they cause high android os use and drain battery..??

My battery is draining too fast after upgrading to android 4.3. Even only on 2g there is 1% decrease in battery almost after every 3 minutes. But with screen off it will remain almost at 99% after even 12 hours or more. But when I start using the phone for something like even navigating through the settings the battery drops 1% every 3 minutes or even less. My handset is about a month old. I am from India and running the ML4 android 4.3 recently released by Samsung. There is no wakelock when the screen is asleep. The phone screen consumes between 60 to 90% of the battery or more. I factory reset it thrice since the update but with no effect. I am running the 4.3 update for about 3 weeks now. I also installed Greenify, battery doctor, juice defender etc to save battery but there is no improvement. I installed the same apps that I installed on the 4.1.2 firmware but the battery is draining quite faster in the 4.3 version. I also freeze almost all bloatware using Titanium backup and even uninstalled some like Google Books etc. but no use. I don't use wifi or wifi hotspot at all. I rarely use bluetooth. GPS, location, etc off. I even freeze Google Play store, Google play services and Google services framework. No multi window, no smart stay, no s voice, no ripple effect, no live wallpaper, etc everything off but still the same. If there is anyone facing this issue and has already found the solution, please help me out.

Battery on 4.3 is almost same as 4.1. What else do you expect its a quad core phone.

This is funny! You mean to say that the upgrade to android 4.3 has damaged my battery? The battery is not even 1 month old as I mentioned in the first post. The battery is very good on android 4.1.2...... As I mentioned in the first post, there is no battery drain when the screen is off. Even after 24 hours the battery is 99% from 100% with screen off. Why should I checked for wakelocks when the battery is fine on screen off? I did checked it to be sure but no wakelocks. The battery problem is when I use the phone, the battery is draining abnormally when the phone is used. Anyway thanks for your reply.

Yes, 4.3 upgrade downgraded my battery life about 20% when I am using my phone. On idle it is better about 10-20% also compared with 4.1.2. It is useless to do factory resets or other nonsense. Just it is as is.

Okey So Firstly I rule Out Few Assumptions Made By Some Members(No Offense):
1) As thadoukuki said battery Drains only while using the phone and not wen its idle that means its not a wakelock for sure.
2)Secondly as the handset n battery ofcourse, are just a month old i dont even assume it to be damaged(Trust Sammy)
3)Thirdly 1% / 3Mins is quite normal on extensive Usage but as you say its just while navigating around settings etc. den i assume its a bit high.
4) Now betterbatterystats is good to identify what consumes your battery but ive never been a fan of that actually.
SO according to me try to do some trial n error work .
Instead of Freezing apps through TB u can use Greenify Donate to greenify system apps and user apps as well. It Does same job as TB freeze but without that extra hassle.
Secondly Choose a kernel that you think is battery friendly for you like the one which gives you peace of mind(Oh Yeah Battery's Draining Slow!!)
for me i'd go for Boeffla or Googymax
Choose a battery friendly Governer for ur CPU(For me Boeffla kernel with Archi_ultra_power_save governer gives great results)
Check if CPU Touch boost is Enabled in Kernel Settings coz Touch Boost gave me good performance and responsiveness but even i had observed that battery used to drain faster with it.
Battery friendly Rom with few Tweaks by xda members is always better for me over Stock( ArchiDroid Is the Rom ive ever Used){Personal Opinion}
Ppl Say undervolting helps .....hmm maybe ive never Done it but as you are very cautious about battery you may try it (on your own Risk)
Lets see if that Helps
And Lastly i never Observed much Change in Battery drain pattern wen Coming from 4.1.2 to 4.3 so thats not really true.

Got this phone about 10 days ago and my battery is terrible since day 1, someone suggested to root my phone and get the BBS app and dump a file i did that and installed a system tuner to disable google CHECKIN OR GCM and unchecked them. apps i got installed to help with battery battery doctor, wakelock detector, os monitor, system tuner, gsam battery, betterbatterystats.
Apps i disabled are:
Ant radio service
Ant+ plugins
App zone
Blurbcheckout
chaton
chrome
flipboard
google play book, games, movies, music, newstand , google search, google+ , hangouts
hp print service plugin
my magazine
s health , svoice , samsung account , samsung apps , samsung galaxy apps widget, samsung push service, smart remote , Top Hd Games
got a plain black wallpaper, even after all this i cant get more than 2h30m screentime and everyone is getting 5h+ do i have a defective unit? what are my options right now? cause basically i removed everything the phone has lol. i talk to my workplace and they can send the phone for repair but i want to see if someone can help me before i do that. i have to unroot the phone if i have to send it for repair even though my phone is 0x1 on knox cause i was stupid to root with cf-root and didnt check other methods.
After all that you did, then it sounds like a faulty battery or device.

This system tuner app you used it not any overclocking or something that might drain you battery?
What screen brightness do you use most of the time?
Can you see what use most of your battery? There is charts you can access in settings -> battery
I run with BLAZE kernel and Alliance ROM. (install without any samsung or google bloat if you can)
And I have been using my phone constantly, playing streemed music, installing apps, downloading from internet, browsing internet, having screen active a lot...
And Now I'm at 87% and have been running 1 hour and 38 minutes on battery. (Was at about 100% battery before)
I run +5 screen brightness and don't have any special powersaving features running that limit my experience with the phone.
You could try that kernel and ROM too, I feel they improved my battery time a lot.
I also shut down some samsung and google bloat stuff like air browse, s voice and such crap, saving a little little battery.
Here is my battery info and my brightness level. I have Canadian g900w from Rogers so I am not sure what roms or kernels you can use ?

It's a smartphone, if you're supposed to turn all the features off then you should have bought a dumb feature phone.
Looks like ur using max brightness? Nearly 2 hours screen on time for 44% isnt the best but isnt terrible. I get around 5 to 6 hours using low brightness 3g/4g on besides when screen on. Using android tuner and greenify for tuneing. Screen uses a lot of battery to. Im using. Ktoons kernal now with oc and the batterys probably the same to to me. No beter or worse but. You're set for almost four hours of screen on time there, on what seems to be very poor mobile signal. Doesn't sound that unrealistic to me to be honest.
Poor mobile signal absolutely kills battery life, as your phone spends the entire time searching and trying to get a better signal.

I think his point is that most people get 5-6 hours screen time with everything on and without following the "stupid extreme battery guides". To be honest it looks like you aren't getting great life either if you are only getting 4 hours. I regularly get 6-7 with everything on and no greenify or kernel tweaks

I see a couple of things interesting with your setup, Speaking from personal experience, I too have had battery issues drive me up a wall. I'd get just about a day on a battery when everyone else gets about 3-9 days more. My friend has an s5 all stock and he gets 9 days on a freaking battery. WTF
I rooted my first s5, with ANCH baseband and still couldn't solve all the issues with it. So I sent it back to t-mo and they sent me another one, getting batteries on ebay has also ended up a wash. 2 batteries I've received go down 20% from a full charge in the first hour and shut completely down at 32 percent at least I got a refund on that. (So be careful about ebay batteries, even though they say samsung.
So looking at yours here's what I see, Your system is staying awake, lets look at wake locks. Kik is really tearing up your machines wakelock (900wake locks) as well as the camera CPU time, i'd imagine you were recording a video at some point.
1. Go get greenify and greenify those Kik, Instagram and camera apps if thats usage while the screen is off. (No notifications on those apps, i'm afraid when you do that.)
2. Go get system tuner, make sure your rooted by towelroot (If you so choose to keep from tripping knox) and go into app mgr and find android system and go through activities, receivers and services and make sure everything you see that says IQAgent gets unchecked. This will help you stay out of ServiceIQ's eyes and also help your battery as your entire phone is debugged through those apps. (Help is on the forums somewhere)
3. Turn off google now, hotword detection and location history or you'll start noticing Google services draining your battery
4. Go get deep sleep battery saver and remove that battery saver, I personally never liked it it only suggests things to do rather than do them for you. At night or whenever you need to save your battery turn on slumber and it will only take like a percent to 5% in the morning
5. You probably have a bad battery, especially if its down to that low. Time to exchange or return
I'm incredibly disappointed, i've had to do all these things to really figure things out, heck i'd be on firefox for about 15 minutes and go down 18% (Happened this morning)
Android really has some issues with kitkat, and even though we try and fix these problems with modifications there comes a point where one just gives up and tries to deal with it.
I don't understand why my phone gets 1.2 days and my co-workers Verizon s5 gets 9 days with normal usage. Everyone seems to have crazy all over the scale battery life results. Heck, i've reset my phone and flashed so many roms that i'd be safe to say that I have yet to have 10 full discharges in the 4 weeks i've had the phone. At the end of the day though, it's mountains better than my iphone 5 with a lenmar battery case.
Wish I could say the same with stability, I'd be on my bike and switch tracks (or try) and stuff just doesn't respond, heck I can't even go with voice activation with wired headphones and that is really a downer for me. I want to be able to hold down the pause and play and get the google now boop boop sound and speak as i'm riding.
I'm tired of this, and google has no answers, the fixes above only seem to add a couple of hours but not the 9 days I was seeing.

I think his point is that most people get 5-6 hours screen time with everything on and without following the "stupid extreme battery guides". To be honest it looks like you aren't getting great life either if you are only getting 4 hours. I regularly get 6-7 with everything on and no greenify or kernel tweaks

So? What do you do to have that many hours? Which rom? How often do you recharge? Which apps do you use? That's the point. I never freeze/uninstall anything...

My rom. With nothing removed or frozen as I have to keep all bloat due to development to check everything. I recharge every night usually with about 20% left and about 5h30 screen on. Using Tapatalk, music, calls, Internet. The usual stuff.
Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
I get 6-7 hours normal use with the bloatware I never use frozen. And I mean never use.
Gtalk, whatsapp, line, google drive, dropbox, gmail, Yahoo mail, corporate mail, all running. No greenify. No battery saver.
Now playing games is different thing. 2-3 hours max.
My battery is amazing. I keep the screen brightness lower, keep networks and chips off when not using, i use bootmanager to prevent apps from launching ay boot and only 1 active widget. Good for a day and a half of very fair use !

Yup probably, the only flaw with a smartphone is its user
Nexus 6p running 7.1.1 beta. Rooted, but running stock ROM and kernel. Only modifications are Pixel launcher and Google Assistant. Brightness at 10-15%. Wi-Fi is on while the screen is on only, but Bluetooth and mobile data are always off. Location services are set to battery saving. Screen timeout set to 30 seconds. Adaptive brightness and ambient display is off. I'm only getting 3hrs SOT, but standby time is great. Only watch one hour of YouTube altogether and use social media often. Is this good or is there something wrong with my battery? ?

Install a battery app like GSAM and you can see what is using it, or things that may be causing wake locks.

Try a factory reset. Factory reset mostly fixes such issues of wakelocks.

Tried that and wiped the cache partition. No luck. I'm pretty sure it's poor optimization on Nougat. Hopefully Google will fix it.

Even i was on stock Nougat for a long time...but i didnt face such issues yet. Infact i think Nougat optimizes better than Marshmallow. As battery backup has substantially increased...a bit.

Well it may also depend on ur battery life..not all phones work the same as they must .
I seriously thought that such a big battery and the optimization that I 've witnessed on many other Huawei devices would mean that I would get better battery life.... How to fix this people.... Help!

I have a problem with battery life on Nexus 6p running Android Nougat 7.1.1..... How t9 optimize my battery for better SoT and how to fix the battery drain?
It drains in such a short time.... I would've sent you some screenshots but it says network error...

Private messages are not for chats, more so if it concerns others too, if it can help others.
You can write thenumbers that bother you, and we then can say if those are bad or not.

I get 4 hrs of SOT
Average use daily is checking e-mails - checking Facebook and Twitter - Youtube and Music streaming - no games.... Sometimes, it drains without even doing that and I barely pass a day without charging it.....
PS:
The Screen on time is inconsistent as it might be just 2 hrs or 3 hrs and it would be consumed completely!
Is there a ROM or an app or anything that can help me get better SOT?
Thanks and apologies for the message, I now know that it was unnecessary.

As I said earlier, and I can't stress it enough, install a better battery monitor such as GSAM. You can see exactly what is using your battery and what is causing wake locks. It is the best first step in trying to fix drain.

Make sure you let it run for a couple full cycles and you have to read it correctly. You can't get useful stats the minute you install it because it needs to run through full cycles while charging and unplugged, as it can only provide information for the time it's been installed. The longer you run it, the more accurate it is. Second, the App Usage stat is a percentage of the percentage of battery used. So if your battery is at 70% when you look at app usage and it says those things used 57% of the battery, that's 57% of the 30% used to that point.
You also need to look at the Held Awake stats because that will tell you what, if any, processes are keeping your phone awake and thus contributing to drain.
I have found that the system in Nougat does tend to use more battery than it did in MM. However, doze implementation is better and it deep sleeps more and does a better job of saving battery. In fact since Nougat, I've stopped using Greenify because it actually seemed to make my battery worse. Since I've been on Nougat I get well over a day on a charge with about 5-5:30 SoT. However, battery also comes down to what ROM and kernel you use and how much you do processor and screen intensive tasks. Music streaming doesn't tend to use much battery, but if you spend a lot of time web surfing, Youtube and games, you'll cook your battery no matter what. If you use the Facebook app, nothing you can do will help as it's a dreadful battery suck.
Here are the numbers provided by the GSam App
Are these numbers good or bad?
The average use gets me through the day but if I use it heavily, it would last 3hrs max.

Has anyone else tried Nap Time by Francisco Franco? Been using it on all my other phones and decided to give it a try on the 1P6T. Set it to aggressive doze and will keep thread updated on advantages or disadvantages.
I'll run a complete battery cycle using Nap Time and then another with it turned off.
Haven't installed it, have had it on previous devices. Will be interesting to follow your findings.
I feel like, with the combination of excellent out-of- the-box battery life and the Dash charging speed, there is not as much reason to skrimp and save on battery power by using Franco's excellent app.
When you can get screen on times that are practically all day and you can get a massive recharge in 10 -20 minutes ... I'm far less inclined to spend much time tweaking the kennel and searching for wake locks etc.
Franco makes good stuff though. Used his kernels for years.
Greenify and other nap apps are considered as useless in pie, native battery optimization is enough. I ditch them months ago without any visible difference.
The only thing I think will make a difference is Leandroid switching mobile data off when the screen goes off. This is a because of the Mobile Radio Active battery bug. That said I'm now a week in to my 6t and haven't noticed the drain, so it looks like OnePlus fixed it, OR, the battery is just so good it doesn't cause inadequate battery life anymore. (I've not rooted yet, which is a sign the phone is excellent.)

Will do. Even tho the battery life of the OP6T is great I believe it can be better. Just started with a full charge yesterday afternoon and when the battery is down I will post. Then I'll stop Nap Time and do another test.

I was just getting ready to post. It saves a bit on the battery and if it was a paid app not sure it would be worth the $. Since I have it installed and have run the 2 adb commands to give permissions I'll continue to use the app. If anything changes I'll post again.

Cool, thanks. Will try it out and see if the phone goes into deep sleep quicker than without it.
Nap Time works fantastic here, now gets pretty much instant deep sleep.
Sent from my OnePlus6T using XDA Labs
I've been using it also and I'm getting about 97% deep sleep while I sleep through the night
hi.. may i know if you guys remove naptime from the OOS battery optimization or not?
I tried this but nothing has helped the massive battery drain I've been getting since finally rooting the TMO variant. Google music is using like 80% of the battery and not going to sleep.
My battery has been awful on my phone since day 1 which was when I rooted. The last 6t I had for about 10 days , did not root, battery was much better. Going to try this app
I turned on "disable motion detection during doze" and notice that ambient display doesn't work on tap. It might be the case that it doesn't work when the phone is in deep doze. Hmm, a bug on oneplus's end?

+1
if im not wrong, the app will ask you to remove it from being optimize
I have now tried this for a few days and notice no changes in battery.
I do notice that it goes in doze mode more often and more quickly (gsam battery monitor) I don't see any difference at all other than that.
Hi, can I check if this is Naptime working normally?
