N910G won't boot into Android [Help!] - Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am using the Note 4 N910G variant. I have rooted using CF Autoroot(5.0.1) and flashed CWM Recovery. I have also tried TWRP.
For some reason, I can't boot into Emotion Revolution ROM and most of the other ROMs would give me errors such as can't open file during installation.
I am seeing messages such as Recovery is not Seandroid enforcing and set warranty bit: kernel.
I have rooted and flashed ROMs before without a hitch many times. This is the first time I am coming across such problems. Forgive me for my ignorance I'll try my best to provide any extra information that is required to fix this issue.
Help would be greatly appreciated

Erm..anyone? I desperately need help fixing this!

Thanks for the response by the way. Much appreciated I used CF AutoRoot and rooted my phone with Odin V3.07. Pretty much followed the steps here
http://galaxynote4root.com/galaxy-note-4-root/how-to-root-galaxy-note-4/
My phone worked just fine after the root. I went on to flash a custom recovery. (TWRP) and it went without a hitch. After which, I wiped my phone and flashed a custom ROM (Without backing up which was foolish, I know..)
http://www.emo-troid.com/tw-rom-downloads.html
Now, everytime I try to boot my phone, I would just get stuck in a bootloop. I can boot into recovery and download mode just fine for now.

Did you flash (via odin) the right modem and bootloader for the rom that you want to use?
---------- Post added at 03:36 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:23 PM ----------
Download and extract this: N910GDTU1BOF1_Bootloader_Modem.tar.zip than flash the .tar.md5 file via odin.

Oh it does, it shows me the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Powered by Android text along with that tiny yellow text in the top left. It would constantly reboot into that screen, doesn't go beyond that.

Alright. Apparently I can't use adb push for my CWM recovery. Any other way?
Edit: I have resolved the matter with the ABD push., had to simply replug my phone.
My phone booted up but is still in the Samsung animation. It got pass the Powered by Android galaxy Note 4 screen at least.

MY PHONE ****ING BOOTED INTO ANDROID. Thank you so much dude You have helped a stranger across the planet save 800 dollars, you're amazing

I'm happy that you fixed the problems with your note 4!
Enjoy your "reborn" phone!

[Q] SGH-I337M No Sound Or Wifi

**EDIT**
This issue was solved for myself and another member here by tracking down the appropriate latest stock firmware for our regions and flashing it with Odin. Note that it took multiple flashes of the same firmware in Odin before it was actually fixed.
**Original Post**
Hi All,
I have a SGH-I337M from Rogers (Canada) and I'm having a hell of a time getting my phone working again. Here's the complete history. I originally took it from stock 4.2.2 to 4.4 Gummy ROM. Everything was working fine with that. I then found out about the easy sim unlock with the stock touchwiz ROM, so I plugged it into Kies to restore it to factory. However, I didn't realize (about a week ago) that they were rolling out the 4.3 update, so lo and behold I wound up with 4.3.
The unlock method was not working on this, so I got hold of the 4.2.2 official ROM and flashed it with Odin. It was at this time that I realized the 4.3 update included the knox bootloader (I think that's the bootloader? I'm still pretty green with this stuff), so of course I wind up with persisting flags showing warranty void, kernel is not seapermissive or whatever the error is, etc etc. ALSO, it was at the time of the 4.3 update that I realized wifi and sound do not work anymore. I flashed back to the Gummy rom, wifi starts working again but not sound.
PHEW, if you made it through that, thanks for your time! Anyway I'm now back at 4.2.2 because I figured I'd try the unlocking at least and... it doesn't work. I read from others that the wifi and sound not working had to do with the modem firmware not matching what the kernel expects, so I took my wifes phone (which is still running 4.2.2 and the unlock worked, also a SGH-I337M), ran the following:
Code:
su
cd mnt/sdcard/
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p1 of=backup-NON-HLOS.bin
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p2 of=backup-modem.bin
Copied those dumps, wrote them to my busted phone with:
Code:
su
dd if=NON-HLOS.bin of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p1
dd if=modem.bin of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p2
reboot
And.... all that to no avail. I'm literally just fumbling through this now because this stuff is going beyond the scope of what I know. Anyone who can help or point me in the right direction would be most appreciated! Thanks for your time!
Fixed
Alright so, as I mentioned the official rogers 4.3 update over Kies is what I believe caused these problems in the first place. What I did however was get hold of the latest official build from this link (RWC-I337MVLUEMK6-20131125124040) and flash it in Odin. Oddly enough after the flash, all is working. Perhaps there is a broken version being pushed out over Kies.

Buddy! You're having the exact same problems I had. Can you tell me what carrier you are with and post your exact model here (like mine is SGH-i337M). The solution for me was to end up flashing (for the 4th or 5th time) the original stock touchwiz from branded by my carrier. The kernel warnings and such all went away, all sound and wifi works again (see my above posts). You might also be able to just flash the modem file for your phone, the CM version. Anyway post that stuff (exact model, carrier etc) and I'll see if I can help!

Here ya go buddy, found it on terafile. Click this link here. ProTip! Use Bitcomet to do the HTTP download (copy the link once it starts downloading) and set the max connections to 20. This way you'll bypass the download throttle and download at full speed. Follow up and let me know if it works out for you!
In case you don't know, extract the zip, open Odin, click "PDA" and select the .md5 file you extracted. Put your phone into download mode by powering off and then powering on while holding the volume down rocker. It'll ask you to press volume up to confirm. Plug the phone in now and Odin will recognize the phone is ready for flashing (will say added! in the text field). Go ahead and click start. Note that this is a very big file so after you select it in Odin it will freeze for a while while it calculates the MD5 sum.

You can't flash it through recovery you have to use Odin and yes 3.09 should work fine. Make sure you extract the zip first and select the .md5 file that gets extracted from the zip. ALSO note that this will replace your custom recovery. I have not yet attempted to replace the stock recovery after flashing and fixing my phone, so I cannot tell you if it will work or not. At this point I'm just happy to have my phone working again so I'm not tampering and leaving it at stock. Also note that once you flash 4.3 the boot loader will be replaced so that if you tamper with the phone (flash anything new etc) it will permanently set a flag that you cannot change which indicates that your warranty is now void.
Stock Kernel Fix It but ....
Hello Furinax, i download and flash the original ROM with Odin v3.09, the stock Kernel fix it, but the Wifi and the sound still tethering, don´t work both of them, do you recommend flashing again? Or what can i do? Thanks and we keep in contact.

Yay! Glad to hear it. Just gotta watch and read lots before flashing custom roms. Some phones are a pain in the rear, some are fine. Usually stick to flagship phones for this. For example the Nexus series from Google, never had an issue flashing any of those phones. Anyway buddy I'm glad to hear it's all working, merry Christmas and happy new year to you too and God bless you as well. Take care!
I am going through this right now as we speak. I bought a S4 I337M tonight locked to Telus and am trying to unlock it for bell.....it was on 4.3 so yeah I tripped the knox bootloader which is ok because I do not have warranty on the phone BUT I installed 4.2.2 and tried the unlocking and of course it does not seem possible on the Telus i337m .....I followed all suggestions to a T so we must have to pay for codes....
Anyways I lost wifi and sound so i used odin to push back telus factory firmware mk6 and still have no wifi and sound ? Any ideas?
I am currently using odin and pushing it once again , fingers crossed
Any tips on both the unlocking and regaining sound and wifi ? thanks

Hey. So a couple of things. First, if you did the unlock process with the 4.2.2 rom, you unfortunately have to re flash the 4.2.2 rom and this time in the menu turn sim lock back on. Then, you can proceed to flash 4.3.3 and buy an unlock code. The reason you have to re flash and explicitly re - enable sim lock using the 4.2.2 menu is that once it fails, if you don't do that then even your purchased unlock code won't work!
So make sure you do that. I believe it's #*0101 then hit menu key, select back. Hit menu again, select number input, enter 1. Get the ddms main menu or whatever it's called where you can see network lock options and then select on instead of off. There is actually a video on YouTube of this exact issue and fix, I've just been moving for 4 days and am beat so if you get really stuck here I can find it tomorrow.
Once you do that re flash 4.3.3 with Odin but before you do, enter recover mode and wipe/factory reset/cache everything and of course ensure you are backed up first.
It has been my experience and others experience that you may need to re flash 4.3.3 multiple times before the wifi and other issues will be fixed. Don't panic, it'll work. Once you've got that all sorted, I bought my unlock codes (did this painful process on three sgh-1337m's) from cellunlocker.net and all went perfect. Let me know if you have any more questions!
Thanks! took 3 times to get back wifi and sound.....so odd.
I am now flashing 4.2 again and i will change the settings you mentioned back to locked than clear cache/factory wipe before going back to 4.3 and ordering my unlock code online....I dont understand why it works for some and not [email protected]!!!

Glad you got sound/wifi back! As far as why it sometimes works, phone had to be shipped with 4.2.2. Once they get upgraded to 4.3, the functionality is gone for reasons I'm not 100% on so I won't shoot my mouth off like I'm an expert. Lol enjoy your unlocked phone once you get it all sorted!
After the second flashing works, be patient

- U cant come back of 4.3 to 4.2.2. And u cant restore ur DATA/boot of 4.2.2 to one new firmware 4.3 either
- U will have to install now TWRP for ex.
- Go to Recovery and wipe all (data, system, cache and dalvik cache)
- Reboot in Download Mode
- Flash this firmware by ODIN
- Take a look in XDA the terms im writing u (TWRP, Recovery, Download mode, ODIN, Flashing firmware). They are very important steps for solve ur problems :highfive:

[Q] Accidently closed TWRP

Hi guys, I will try and explain this as simple as possible.
I as trying to install cyanogenmod 11 on my phone, and everything seemed to go alright until I made a mistake. I used TWRP to first backup my stock rom on the phone, and then when I was supposed to reboot into the app, I accidently rebooted the phone.
Now the problem is that the phone does not have any OS installed, so what is happening is that it's trying to boot into an OS that's not there, and instead ends up being stuck on the Samsung logo. I can enter Odin mode just fine, but for the love of god I cannot seem to figure how to get back into the TWRP application, or if it is even possible.
I do have the backup of the ROM stored on my SD card, and I've now moved it over to my PC, but it still does not seem to help me in any way. I've trid to launch the Odin3 program on my pc, in an attempt to to try and launch in TWRP through that, but it has all been without any success, so now I come to this board of guinesses, asking for help!
As an added bit of information, this was my first time trying to install a custom rom, so yeah.. Puff..
- The lost Dane.
- Edit -
I tried to "flash" by doing what this link said, in the hopes that my phone would boot into the program, but alas, it only booted back to the logan saying "samsung Galaxy Note 3 SM-N9005" :/
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=30694404
-- Edit Edit --
To make it super clear ... If I could get back into TWRP, I would be able to run my backup. I know how that app works, I just simply cannot get back into, and I do not know if it is even possible. I've searched and tried various guides to "flash TWRP through Odin" but it has all been without any success... :/

Did you hold volume up+home+power button to get into recovery mode?
In case your twrp get corrupted due to flashing failure previously
1. Download twrp from the following. 2.6.3.7 if you were running 4.3 or 2.6.3.8 if you were running 4.4.2(not sure if 2
6.3.8 is 4.3 compatible). For odin flashable use the one with .tar
http://www.techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/hlte
2. Get into download mode(vol down+home+power)
3. Link the downloaded .tar to pda in odin. Odin log should show 'added' once you connect phone to pc
4. Start the process. Once finish phone should boot into recovery automatically but it'll try to boot back into OS. Just hold vol up+home+power button to get back into recovery

When I do that, I get an ultra short blue text appearing on the screen, before it goes into downloading mode, with a red text saying "Could not do normal boot." So it basically goes right into odin mode.

I edited my post. You need to reflash twrp
You are an absolute god. I wish I could show my appreciation, but I fear words isn't even enough to even begin.. I managed to get into TWRP now, though my backup rom doesn't show up anymore, but I suppose that's because I run a different version of TWRP than I did first? Idk, but really appreciate that you were able to get me back into TWRP.

I really do appreciate the help you've given, but I have one final request, and I really do hope it isn't too much to ask. Say I am unable to find the same version of TWRP, I will have to actually flash cyanogenmod onto my device. I don't think it should be too tough now that I've managed to launch into TWRP, because now I should be able to just put the rom on my SD card, and then install the files, no?
if it helps you, my device is SM-N9005, and I had 4.3 when I started this whole thing. Cheers!
- Edit.
I tried to download the Nighty build from CyanogenMod's own homepage, but when I try and install it, it says failed, giving me an erro that says "This package is for "hlexx" devices: This is a." That's all it says ... Hmfh. Sooooooooo... Yes! I'm in recovery mode now, but without any rom. :/

Yes you can flash any cm based rom.
You can also flash any stock rom such as SweetRom/X-Note/BobCat as most developers still keeping 4.3 rom in their thread.

Believe so. It's because of updater script i guess as described in the link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2600648&page=2
Try flashing chenglu's 6.0.4.5 recovery.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2454079
Just the same as you did for twrp. I think i read somewhere that changing recovery helped some people.
The worst just download sweetrom/x-note/bobcatrom or any stock 4.3 based rom if you deperately need the phone to boot up

So after having spent the better half of the night, I actually managed to get my phone to boot into cyanogenmod 11 ! But that joy was shortlived when I came to realize that wi-fi wasn't working, and I couldn't get it to work. I tried to factory reset as I had read would help, but alas it did no good. I figured I should try and run back a stock 4.4.2 rom and just be done with it, but that was when I realized I had lost my root (?!) so that wasn't really a possibility either, next I set out to try and find a way to root my phone now running cyanogenmod 11. I found a file here on XDA called "CF-Auto-Root-hlte-hltexx-smn9005.tar" but whenever I try and flash that onto my phone, my phone just stays stuck saying "trying to enter into recovery mode" and does not really go anywhere from there. I can get back into recovery mode if I flash "n9005-cwm-recovery-6.0.4.5(1116)" onto the phone, like you said, but that still leaves me without root access, which I need to throw a rom onto my device?! Arrrgh, this is getting silly, I just wish I could go back to my backup/ default rom on the device, but I can't.

About the cf auto root make sure you flash the one for 4.3. I believe you flashed the one for 4.4.2.
Doesn't really matter whether you have root access or not as long as you can boot into custom recovery. Just flash any custom rom. It'll give you root anyway.
Still if you need root just make sure you flash cf auto root then flash twrp or chenglu recovery. Flash the one for 4.3 that's the most important

But when I have cyanogenmod 11 installed, is that then not 4.4.2 ? I suppose that's what's giving me trouble... I'll try and see if I can find the cf auto root for 4.3 and return back if I was successful or not. Again, thank you for being so patient..

This seems to be the only one I can find; http://download.chainfire.eu/352/CF-Root/CF-Auto-Root/CF-Auto-Root-hlte-hltexx-smn9005.zip
And I've already tried that one 3 times, but every time I flash it, the phone reboots and keeps trying to enter into recovery mode, and is unable to do so before I've flashed n9005-cwm-recovery-6.0.4.5(1116) again
this is what it says;
"recovery booting...
Recovery is not seandroid enforcing
Set warranty bit : Recovery "

You flashed 4.4.2 cm rom but you're on 4.3 booloader. So you need to use cf auto root for 4.3 which is available here

Just enter download mode and reflash twtp. I saw there are 4 different versions for 4.3(2.6.3.0/2 6.3.5/2.6.3.6/2.3.6.7). Flash 1 by 1 and see if it can restore your backup

You really are a boss with a heart of gold! I used the file you linked me, ran it, and sure enough it installed and gave me root access. Believe it or not, but I am learning from this! The whole thing about bootloader being different from the rom version was new to me. But I am up and running with root access now, so now I hope it shouldn't be too hard to get a stock rom thrown in. I've kinda given up on my backup. I no longer care for the files I had before, now I just want the phone up and running with wifi.. X_ X
- Edit
Or do you have any clue as to what is causing wifi to not work? I really don't mind the rom at all, I quite like it, but where I live wifi is mandatory as it's a lowered area with mountains around me, meaning LTE really isn't viable while at home.

The recovery you provided works just fine! There was no issue booting up the phone, i havn't tried to flash a zip file with it yet, but i think it will work.
Other options like terminal and adb open up correctly on the local machine, and there is no reason for them to give issues when actually used for side loading and command input.
I have a recovery.log file if needed.
Thanks a lot, that was the first recovery for Galaxy A8 Sm-A800i.
I request @cheupe to move the post to the top and change the status to solved. All credits to @ashyx for successfully compiling the recovery.
Note - Flashing this recovery, or anything other than stock, might make your wifi to stop remembering passwords on reboot. (Only if you have flashed a custom boot.img /kernel). Flashing only the recovery without other modifications should theoretically not cause the issue.
Solution-
Open up system/build.prop, find "ro.securestorage.support=true" and change the "true" to "false" and reboot. Enter your wifi passwords once again and it should be permanant even after reboot.

Thanks for the feedback, glad it works. Now you guys have the door open for custom roms and root. I will officially release this to XDA if you are happy everything is working.
Regarding your note on the wifi, Recovery shouldn't affect the wifi. Custom kernels that dont have the "ro.securestorage.support=false" set usually have this issue. However that can be fixed.
Did you have an issue with wifi as that is a new one on me with custom recovery?

Thanks for the feedback, glad it works. Now you guys have the door open for custom roms and root. I will officially release this to XDA if you are happy everything is working.

The wifi problem occurs everytime i flash something that is not stock. Flashing a custom boot.img for root caused the issue. It was fixed with tweaking the build.prop.
Now everytime i flash anything, be it boot or recovery via odin, i have to tweak the build file. The only exception to this is flashing the stock firmwhere.

Well as the issue was probably caused by the modified boot.img, its gonna occur only for those who have rooted their phones using that particular method. I am pretty sure flashing just the recovery you provided will not cause the issue. The note was for who are here after rooting. I still dont get it why the build file changes when i flashed the recovery, even though i had tweaked it and not touched the kernel after that. I dont understand the reason for it to change back to true after flashing something such as a recovery.

Strange I've never heard of that before, I don't see how flashing a custom recovery affects the build.prop they are totally unrelated? Ah well stranger things have happened. :silly:

I concur. Thats strange to say at the least. Why would flashing something after flashing a custom kernel change the build.prop. I guess, somethings are just the way they are

What did you flash?
You can recover by flashing stock firmware.
NOTE: One of the main reasons for flashing custom recovery is to make a full backup of your device.
ALWAYS ensure this is done BEFORE flashing custom stuff.

Try flashing the corresponding uninstall x64 zip. It will reverse all the steps that the install did. Good luck.

Yes buddy. Please update us on whether it works. I have been away and I am just seeing all this now. I want to flash the recovery right away.
Currently i'm sending from my old phone so there's no "quotie quotie"
So, i did all you ask. The phone doesn't bootloop anymore. Thanks, although i have to leave it there for 6 mins until it starts booting up
Much appreciated your help

Can't get back into SafeStrap. I'm stuck please help

Was running BPB1, and tried to decrypt my phone. It got stuck, so I did a reset, and rebooted into Safestrap. Tried to restore a backup, which seemed to go by quick (I thought it took a bit, but this was done within seconds). I FORGOT to flash teh BPB1 SS kernel....
So I got into Download mode and tried flashing the NK2 kernel. I get stuck on the Samsung Galaxy S5 Custom screen. I then tried flashing the NI2 kernel...same thing.
What the hell do I do now?
Even performed factory reset..and same thing, it won't get past the Samsung Galaxy s5 Custom Powered by Android screen.

I don't know when the TAR version of the kernel is. These are all ZIPS and one is the full tar, I think http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-galaxy-s5/development/vzwstock-based-tw-rom-3-4-16-t3329029
Edit - just found this: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24438995911969780 will try flashing it.
I just tried the header partiion fix here (even if it was for bok) but that didn't help either: http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-galaxy-s5/development/safestrap-5-0-lollipop-t3313800

I am fine doing that if that is what it takes. I hate to ask this..because there is so many links, but could you provide the URL's to the re-root process? My head has been swimming in pages/links for the last 3 hours.
I assume I can use this PB1 download? https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24438995911970571

So reading that rooting thread you posted..the instructions are a bit unclear. Because I am going to odin the BPB1 file, it is mentioned

Should I look at my situation as if I am NOT on BPB1 then, despite that I 'was'? And then it says 'proceed to rooting instructions' ....but if I install the BPB1, do I still need to unzip "OK3_ROOT_V5.exe " ?

Got it. thanks. Will report back.
Ok so I am going for round 2. Screwed up apparently.
I followed all the steps, and even rebooted into SafeStrap. I thought, after wiping cache, data, etc.. like the instructions said prior to installing a ROM, I could just restore my backup. That process went fine, but then I went to flash the G900V_Fix+Safestrap and it said "FAILED". WTF. I've never had a fail on flashing a zip before. Said it couldn't open the file.
I wonder if part of the SD card is corrupted because it was encrypted, but I can still see my files after I told the phone to decrypt earlier. I mean I got no error flashing my August 26 nandroid...
Any clue why flashing zips would barf? I was definitely rooted and busybox and SS installed. Though after installing SS a 2nd time (per the instructions) I got a verizon notification that said unauthorized something....
Confirmed...my files on my SD card were corrupt. So formatting card, copying over the fresh backups I made before **** hit the fan, and giving this another go.

Just got this device due to a insurance claim so this is a completelt new phone to me and I really want to either start or add to one specific form till we get a complete spot on the fourms.... This does not work. I've tried it multiple times on multiple versions of Odin. This will not work if you use Boost Mobile. It either fails, hangs at flashing boot.img, or hangs at SetupConnection.

This works to get you back to stock from bootloop. I tried my hand at rooting this little SOB (TWRP,Magisk) and tripped the Knox counter bc I forgot to wipe it. Reboot came up with "Validation Failure" and I was stuck. I stumbled over this post and with nothing to lose other than $130.
First piece of advice...Use Odin 3.12.3 ONLY!! I tried the latest version and it didn't work. Download the files, place them in the appropriate boxes and flash. reboot into recovery, wipe the cache/data and you should be good. Mine took quite a while after hanging on the Boost mobile splash screen, but about 3 reboots later, it brought me to the configuration screen. It's up, running and I even got the OTA software update, but then again, it is stock.
