So i recieved my Galaxy s2 the other day, as a replacement for my HTC HD2 which was in for a repair with a broken screen - apparently it was 'unecconomical' to repair - but i certainly wasnt complaining!
Awesome phone, had it for two days, rooted it fine using Odin and superoneclick - fantastic tool..
After rooting i re-flashed with stock kernel again.
All was absolutely fine, i was using my phone without problems until a few hours later (yesterday evening) when after putting it down for five minutes and picking it up again, there was a pixel wide horizontal line running across the screen.
They are not dead or stuck pixels, as they change colour with the background- they just appear extremely brightly, so stand out from the rest of the display.
No amount of adjusting has resolved this, rebooting/hard reset etc. the line remains prominently running from the right side, and slowly fading to the left.
Ive searched online but cant see any issues with screens like this, just dead pixel lines and stuck pixels.
If anyone may have an idea on whether this could be software related problem or hardware related would be great to know your thoughts.
Cheers, Alex
I would be taking it straight back . I got a couple of sgs2 handsets back in may when they were 1st released and i had numerous screen issues. i got one a few days ago an my friend got one yesterday and the screens are pretty much bang on (tiny tiny yellow tint if you go looking for it)
No lines , no dead pixels , beautifull screens even with the slight yellow tint
I hated my 1st screens so there are defo some bad ones knocking about and some that are literally 10x nicer to look at
Like i say take it back buddy
Good luck with it and let us know how you got on
Also pictures of the problem could be interesting
Yep I definitely will...
Just whether to un-root and reset flash count first or not - probs a good idea im thinking.
Aside from that i agree its a lovely display- ive heard about the yellow tint but noticed it on mine.
Will try and get a pic up before it goes back..
Cheers for the input!
Bought brand new OEM Galaxy S4 LCD assembly from ETS. However, i've tried it with a few S4 motherboards, and with everyone the Samsung i9505 startup logo is purple. And it doesn't look right. Even though it's purple, there are specs of white around the edges of the text.
Plus, what's really confusing is that i bought this replacement LCD for a customer who's screen was playing up. The customer's screen would also startup with the purple i9505 logo, but then also display some gray garbled image, and then display correctly but with a haze, which would correct itself after a couple of minutes. The phone would also have problems playing videos and some other display issues.
Originally i thought the customer's phone had an LCD problem, but then i tried the replacement LCD and saw the same purple startup logo, and then settled on it being a display IC fault. So i assumed there was nothing wrong with the replacement LCD.
But now i've tried the LCD with 2 other motherboards, and get the same result (purple startup logo, not the other display issues).
So i believe the display IC is faulty, but it's strange that the same purple startup logo is occuring with the new LCD. Other than the purple logo, the LCD appears to work fine.
Has anyone else had a purple startup logo, either with an OEM replacement LCD, or their S4? Is this a defect that warrants return to the supplier (ETS)?
Hope this all makes sense...

Hmmm.. hard to say, as I never seen something like that here, at XDA... however, one user claimed such phenomenon, but not on new screen... see here, as the result of dropping the phone.
Well, first, I'd try this.
But, I'd expect no significant improvement, as from the description of a guy cited above, it seems to be likely that such may be caused by micro-crack on some circuit.

Thanks for the response, but I sent it back to the supplier and they sent me a replacement. All good.
Hi , my name is Stefan and i am new on the forum ...
Regarding yellow tint display if somebody have an advice ,anything to solve this.
I must confess that although I have changed three screens, I have the same problem ...the display is not trully white .
The comparison is made in the same conditions : both phones are on 5.0.1 Lollipop, brightness is on maximum, adaptive mode display, auto adjust screen tone.
If somebody can tell me what is the problem , please because i don't understand why and how is possible ?
Screens can be recognized by a code, a serial number or manufacturer / supplier or is there something to differentiate between them ? From where to buy or achieve a display that have non tint yellow screen ?
Any advice is welcome because here i think is my last chance to find out what is it about...
Thank you
Have you tried to remove screen protector, just to check that its not that?
Yes , sure that i removed also screen protectoon but is the same yellow tint dispay !
And another important aspect also is , if you look carefully to my pictures beside that my dispalay has yellow tint , the colours are less vivid
Did u change the display settings

if you have the cinema mode for display selected then its because of that
You can't make anything to fix it. Mine screen is like yours. Also change my phone 3 times and always the screen is the same.
I've white phone like you. I think the problem is with white phone manufactured during 2015. I think 2014 phones doesn't have this problem.
Cheers.
No way ! My phone is always on adaptive display screen mode and auto adjust screen tone
These are the most recommended settings for Note 4, so far i know ...

I never thought at this ...what are you saying is incredible for me , this don't solve the problem but i must confess that i' m really very shocked !!! And yes , indeed you are right ! I took an app, from Play Store called Phone Info *Samsung* and manufacturing date is 2015.02.03 ,made in Vietnam
If you are right is something unbelievable !!!
So for me it's easy to find out if you're right about what you said, because tomorrow I will go and i will check if all phones that have white screens compared with my phone are manufactured in 2014.
And after that, I'll post the results here !

As i promised i'm back with the results after i checked today 4 phones that have white screens from different suppliers and situation is as follows :
1.From 2 different Orange stores i checked 2 phones both on black colour ( they sell only black colour) , first one SM-910F(snapdragon variant) was manufactured on 2014.10.08/made in Vietnam and the second SM-910X(demo unit phone) don' t appear any date of manufacturing just made in Vietnam.
2.From Media Galaxy store i checked 1 phone SM-910C (octacore exynos variant) white colour and this was manufactured on 2015.01.19/ made in Vietnam.
3.From official Samsung store i checked SM-910X (demo unit phone) ,don't appear any date of manufacturing just made in Vietnam.
While I was in the official Samsung store, I met someone, who had bought a Note 4 from same supplier as me and the phone was the same colour white , same model (SM-910F) but this person told me that bought the phone in 2014 and we checked together with the Phon Info app and yes indeed the phone was manufactured in 2014 / made in Vietnam but this phone don't have white screen !!! but the phone screen although it was manufactured in 2014, the screen was more yellow than my phone which is made in 2015 !!!
And another thing would be that my phone which is compared in pictures with the phone screen from Media Galaxy store, but it is also manufactured in 2015 , the same as mine, this phone has a white screen and not a yellow screen like my phone .
So the final conclusion :
is NOT TRUE that all the Samsung Note 4 phones manufactured until year 2015 have white screens and the phones manufactured after year 2014 have a off white/ tint yellow screen !!!
Ok, It was a guess, because in my country almost Note from 2015 have this yellow screen, also new Galaxy S6 have too.
It's true that if you search you can find a good screen but I think 75% of probability is to find bad screen.
Cheers.
I got my note 4 shortly after it was released in Oct 2014. The past month I noticed only the upper half of my screen has a yellow tint to it. I've already tried display settings. Also tried resetting the phone and clearing system cache. It isn't the screen protector. I've investigated many forums and took every advice I can find and still the upper half of my screen has a yellow tint. I see a ton of people have this issue. This phone is supposed to be good for video and video editing along with photography Kind of hard to determine a good picture if half the screen is yellow. I am sure Samsung is aware of this issue but why have they not resolved it? Seems like a recall would have been made on the phones and replacements sent out. Paid over $800 for this phone, I could have kept my old Note 2 and invested in a good camera instead. This really needs to get fixed. If Samsung customer service is going to be this bad I will go with HTC or Iphone.
Try to set it like that!!!

Hi please i have a a5 2016 and i noticed few days ago a pixel turned to green . It is a dead pixel ? How i can fix it please reply im worried . It is rare in AMOLED screens ? Thanks
Hi! ..got the same problem, however I can see not only our pixels are dead, also thread stuck in spot..
Phone is new, after two months, in the center of the screen appeared one bright point. I don't know is it dead, hot, or stuck pixel.. It's green and max-bright. Especially annoying at night, while watching/reading with dimmed screen../
Any of repair apps (flashing/snowing) wont work, Odin also - maybe there is some framework, that could at least turn it off (or sth..)???
Did anyone else had that stubborn pixel on this ultra FHD 5,2" 1080/480dpi AMOLED screen?? Anyone can help??
- Did You managed with your green dot??
- Does one bad pixel qualify device to service repair?
Unfortunately you have to replace display. Both of you guys...
Guys, you have warranty if you haven't done any modifications to your phones. In this case, take your phones to your carriers or Samsung Stores and they'll repair/replace them without any question.
I have a Samsung gAlexy s5. When it gets even a little cold. My display does not turn on. After warming it near my body. It works fine. Once it's on it works fine. I's it my display or my battery?

Even with white or green glitters especially when the light of display is set very low ? This maybe is the begging of the display R. I. P. or having a problem with a component of the motherboard. Not the battery. Sometimes is needed a new display and others or the component can be changed or a new motherboard is needed.
Your screen is dying. You're going to have to get a new screen if you want to continue using the phone. My S5 did this last year and just last month I bought a new screen for the phone and flickering/not turning on is gone.
