Been using it for more than a week and very impressed so far
The best Wacom-based bargain out there right now. Well-built, accurate, surprisingly fast SSD (not eMMC) and CPU. If I were you, I would order straight from manufacturer despite the slightly higher price.

---

I had some free time so i tried installing windows 10 rtm. Works nice. Was even able to activate it, which didn´t work with 8.1 bing.
Pros: The driver script didn´t work, but i was able to install individual drivers. Seems snappy. Edge browser is superfast. Some benchmarks heaven 4.0: 329 points. 3dmark 2011: P871.
Cons: Couldnt install the reg file for the sensor, so the orientation sensor doesnt work. Windows doesnt allow me to edit the registry at all. The physical windows button works, but there is no vibration feedback. Any ideas?

Another interesting program is ThrottleStop:
Download is available here
The main window gives a brief overview about temperature, package power, clock multiplier and throttling reason:
A click on TPL (Turbo Power Limits) shows different settings to manually adjust the cpu TDP:
(Note: TDP locks need to be disabled in UEFI -> CPU settings to have access here).
The most interesting feature is probably the integrated voltage control, it allows to undervolt specifically parts of the core package:
(It needs further testing to see if and how much impact does this function have on an ultra-low voltage cpu.)

Ok so i´ve tried that, doesnt install any of the drivers. Cannot access the files on mega, could you try reuploading them and i will try them out!
Btw the vibration on the windows button came back by itself =)

---

Thx! The driver install fine. The orientation is upside down though. Ive been playing around with the orientation reg file, but Ive only been able to get the screen rotated 90 degrees to the side. If i do that and lock the screen the accelerometer works in games at least. Asphalt 8 works very smoothly!
There seems to be trouble with the bluetooth as well, it only keeps on searching indefinitly. Maybe a driver issue. I will try to look into it.

My order is from Geekbuying.com which seems to cause much trouble for several Cube i7 buyers.
It was in customs "custody" for several weeks because they declared it completely wrong.
It's probably for the best to avoid Geekbuying.com

I also ordered through geekbuying. The tablet was very buggy out of the box, thats why i went along and tried windows 10. The screen was water damaged with a large dark spot in the middle. I was able to fix it with this trick though!

Geekbuying is absolutely inadvisable (to put it politely), i also got the version with pre-installed kms activator which is a very questionable practice for a "proper" retailer.

I agree. My i7 stylus was shipped weeks after they deducted payment, the seals were broken, the screen protector had serious scratches all over it (may have been a display unit), and windows was bootlegged. I would strongly advise against doing business with them.

Thx mate! That reg setting set everything right with the orientation! The bluetooth driver gave the same error, maybe a windows 10 issue.

Thanks @Hendrickson

Has anyone opened the tablet?
Has anyone opened the tablet to replace the SSD or anything else and can give instructions on how to do it without damage?

Here there are photos but no instructions

Thanks for the photos. I have seen them before but there are reportedly some pins that are easily breakable so was hoping for someone who opened the tablet to comment on what was done to prevent damage.

I am going to apologize for this newby question upfront, but in what you said or what you saw, does this phone have the same kind of graphics accelerator that the Dell v50x has? I have seen video and games on the Dell Axim v50x and it is amazing. I was just hoping that the Universal was going to be comparable.
good stuff but, hopefully someone can post the entire thing.. like lcd, keyboard , etc
http://www.firstloox.org/VGAppc.htm
here they state that it will use the same ati graphic chip as the xdaII
ups my bad that was the device beside it the graphics of the universal was tba.
about graphic chips and games then
having a fancy graphic chip dont mean anything unless the game
is made to take advantage of it
it's not automaticly used
and same thing with the resolution being VGA games have to support it

Can anyone tell me where the WiFi and Bluetooth antennae are located? What's the best orientation for the device when trying to connect to a weak WiFi signal?
The Wifi one ( looking at this pic, and from taking appart mine ) is screwed into the lowest screw hole next to the USB port you see there. The BT antenna is to 1" the right of the 1.3mp camera if you are pointing it at yourself in portrait.
the phone antenna is around the camera lens.
There is ALSO an antenna of some kind at the bottom going across the SD slot, right next to it is a pigtail connector thingy like you get on MiniPCI wireless cards.

Cool, thanks stot.
So the WiFi antenna is in the back edge of the device, near the hinge.
The Bluetooth antenna is near the stylus hole.
Useful info - cheers!
All the antennae, then, are in the 'base' unit with the keyboard. I guess if signal strength is a problem for WiFi then I should pick it up off the desk and use it in tablet mode rather than laptop mode. :?:
yes ALL antenna are in the base unit. Id point the back of the device to the router/access point as much as possible if youre having weak signal. I think in portrait mode your hand is likely to be covering the wifi antenna, if youre right handed.

Thanks for this pics.
I too would like to see the rest of the parts. Specifically the hinge on the screen side.
I unscrewed the keyboard (single screw) side, but the 4 screw on the lid don't remove the metal plate.
It's seems the actual screen housing has to be separated before the metal plate will come out.
Why do I care? I'm wondering if there some way to tighten the pivot point.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
This is is top-class device, why 520, why not 624mhz!?

not good enough reason! battery consumption is not so bigger, and there is power&speed management system (axim x50v), and u can adjust device to best perfomance or batt saving.....
go ahead, use Pocket Mechanic...
can anyone confirm the graphics memory? :-|
Is there any way to increase the Storage Memory on the Universal?
I had to install all my programs to the SD card to avoid repeating critical memory messages. is Storage Memory RAM or ROM?
hello itsme and other hardware gurus,
first i like to thank you for providing such detailed hardware information for the xda wiki. after studying all those infos i would like to initiate a discussion about those two empty places on the pcb located nearby the m-systems doc g3 chip. when i compare the layout of the soldering points (shape and quantity) against the informations in the data sheet of infineons dram-chips and m-system doc chips i am almost sure that those two reserved spaces are not for expanding the 64mb of ram (which is more than enough from todays point of view) but for expanding flash-rom (main memory or storage) by one or two m-systems doc chips with 64mb each in a 7x10 fbga package. that means the device could be upgraded up to 128mb of additional flash rom by soldering two more m-system doc chips on the pcb.
what do you think about that idea?
still unanswered is the question whether there is a software modification required for the universal in order to detect the additional memory or whether this function is already in the current software.
best regards
peter
oh it has a qualcomm modem and the 3g protocol stack was done in farnborough, uk?
is the ti tnetw1100bg a wifi chip
i geuss the intel pxa is the media processor
what does this the xilinx cpld 2c128 programmable logic do?
@peter_altherr
You'd really, honestly, hand on heart take your pda to a hot air gun & attempt to solder on 2 FBGA ICs - you're bloody mad mate!
Strong piece of advice - don't even think about doing this!!!!!!
If this tought did by some miracle enter therein, take your mind firmly off it by looking at some nice pictures of some ice cold pints of beer freely available on the 'net.

MK809IV RK3188-T - Internet problems

Hello there!
I hope some of you could help me a bit! Yesterday I got a brand new MK809IV Android Mini PC
I wanted to install DroidMote Server from play store, but it required root. I tried to go to UGOOS.net and download their rooted version to their MK809IV (They don't look a like, but they had same model number).
It then bricked and after trying 20+ .img-files, I finally found one that could bring me the device back!
But now I can't turn on wifi or bluetooth - It says it does, but it doesn't! :'(
Can someone help me find the original 4.2.2. firmware for my device? I've found some pictures of it:

It works with the device pictured above? How do I install custom Roms pls help
I have the same Mini PC I think
The roms in this post don't work for me. None I have found are the original either.
I'll add photos of my stick to see if they are the same. Maybe someone else has bought the same device and can backup their rom for us.
I found a rom that may work for you.
I just installed a rom I found that works. Its not the original but I can now use wifi and bluetooth and its Kitkat 4.4. It may work for you. It is MTK rom - probably stands for Mediatek which is the chips on my mini pc.
http :// ugoos.net/index.php?route=product/download/get&download_id=47
To install I used RK Rom dumper tool, but there are others. Rom dumper is pretty simple though, just load the firmware and click update. Just have the mini pc connected to your computer in recovery mode. Hold the reset/recovery button on the side as you plug the USB into the side Micro port. You computer should recognise it as a new device and ask for drivers. Run rom dumper go to second tab and click firmware button, choose your rom, then click update. Let it do its thing and the mini pc will reboot a couple of times and it should work.
MK809IV
There is one big problem with the MK809IV which was not in the III version - Heat dissipation. I recently purchased one of these devices and it crashed and recycled to boot sequence. I eventually got it to work, but when I tried the Kodi on line streaming app it crashed, it was an older version, which I removed and updated. I also tried an alternative program Internet Radio (V.Tuner) I found as long as I did not use the streaming apps, it worked, obviously indicating a high CPU usage problem.
By the way that that red plastic slider switch does nothing its not connected to anything
Diagnostics:
I found that the CPU Rockchip 3188 was reaching up to 50C with a thermal sensor attached to the chip. With the open case, I actually got Kodi to work for a few minutes, during that period the CPU rose to above 53.5C and shut down. The chip is a quad core and as such needs adequate ventilating and cooling.
Using an old Pentium Flat heat sink, I coated the surface of the chip with thermal paste and clamped the heat sink to the chip of one corner of the sink. This has to be done out of the case. (Be careful not to damage the reset button beside the CPU) With the heat sensor attached under the plastic hobby clamp. I again ran Kodi and the maximum temperature was around 41C a reduction of 10C after listening to music on line the device work seamlessly for several hours. The maximum temperature reached was 45.6C which appears to be within the tolerance of the CPU chip.
Conclusion:
Poorly designed and inadequate ventilation. No heat sinking of CPU under continuous use. At present I am awaiting seller's response on EBay, have given them a full report of the problem with this model, which many buyers are experiencing.
Solution:
Not recommended to buy, there are now Android Media boxes available for a few dollars more which have a proper well ventilated housing and appropriate cooling devices. With full internet streaming plus DTV PVR and many other functions.
Running a quad core chip in such a confined space is ridiculous! Might have been OK for the earlier single core chips on the MK 802!

MK809IV wifi fix
Hey guys I was looking around and noticed this thread. Figured I would just drop a message for anyone that has one of these. I noticed yesterday when playing with the unit that the odd time I would actually get wifi reception when moving it around. I took it apart and re-located the antenna. Now I can stream fine from 20 feet away. I posted the fix for you guys here and showed you what needs to be done. If you don't have the red slider like I do, cut a slot in the side of the unit and leave the antenna hanging out of the side. (btw, I just joined and saw the antenna above picture is installed correct, unlike mine was, but I don't have issues with my unit any further. Looks like a different chipset as well)
I still have not resolved the Bluetooth issue, but I think I have an idea. I believe they are using the same antenna for both the bluetooth and wifi which may be causing the issue. I may try to separate them at a later time... but for now it is working so I am not messing with it.
I posted the video.... but it won't let me. Search MK809IV media center, S805 WiFi fix in Youtube if you want to see how to get it running.

Had a real tussle with the Chinese seller, opened a dispute on EBay and he agreed to refund. Then told me he would send another. After a week of garbage reverted to Paypal dispute and sent it back. Its arrived in China so refund in full will be coming shortly. Fast becoming very disillusioned with Chinese sellers on Ebay, they insult you by offering $1 compensation etc and lie to Ebay about what they will do. If you have any problems, best to open a dispute via Paypal, they are far more efficient and at least you get your money back
Please reupload that rom

Hi
Got mine two weeks ago.
I tried to dual boot Ubuntu 16.04 with windows 10, but I had an issue with Ubuntu boots in portrait mode.
I changed the GOP vBIOS or something, and now the device won't boot any more.
Just black screen.
Tried to connect HDMI cable but no luck.
Also I can't access BIOS to reset the configuration.
The device come with no CMOS battery, so hard reset will not be an option.
I left with find the device firmware (ROM or BIN) and find the boot combination keys to try the last option or RIP my device .
BR
Voyo V1 experiences
Bought one of these, Win10/Android 5.1 dual boot version.
The physical build is very nice. Massive, great craftmanship, metallic looking (but plastic) top and bottom, not bending, the hinges are strong.. to the level you need two hands to open it. It is even problematic to pick it up from the desk, it is not really offering a place to grab it.
The sound is okay, speakers are at the bottom - though I don't know why didn't they lead the sound out at the sides where it rounds up at the bottom, I suppose there would be space inside (didn't take it apart to look).
The touch pad is not very sensitive, multi touch but tends to do weird things like for example instead of scrolling (two finger swipe up/down) it resizes the window instead by docking it (under windows at least, haven't used it much under Android). It has no specific driver, so no way to fine tune it, no idea who the manufacturer is either, it comes up as standard HID device.
The flash disk is one of the slower ones (no idea again) but it's acceptable.
The keyboard however, is terrible. The island type, which would be okay, but the buttons when pressed go way under the level of the surrounding plastic mesh and the finger gets stuck, or it doesn't register the press. You can only type by finger tips, literally, which is not very comfortable at all, and especially at such a tiny keyboard. I actually took the device apart and cut the mesh out, it still looks alright but much better to type on.
Windows came activated, in english, no problems there. It switches to droid and back by a built-in app. Droid is not rooted.
The battery usage tracking is not working neither under windows or droid; it shows rapid discharge then continues working for hours at a few percent (as it thinks). It says "battery usage data isn't available" and in Windows just "Calculating..." for ever so you don't have a real clue about when is it going to shut down.
I measured with a USB charge tester and from empty it loaded ~11600mAh into it so the battery capacity is okay, the problem lies somewhere else. Charging took overnight, it takes a lot of time to load 11k by 5V/1.45A.
Under droid the sw keyboard kept popping up whenever I went to an input field - I have never had similar problem with external keyboards, fortunately "null keyboard" app offers a workaround.
I haven't found an alternative ROM for it nor have an idea how to root making it work as-is.
So considering the above I'd give it 6/10 tops.
I bought mine from Gearbest. Took two months to get. Wrong color. Case they recommended is 2 1/2 inches too small. After four hours of use it won't power up.
any other feedback on keyboard, battery indicator, sleep mode on Android ?
Thanks @MistycSr & @Funky54 for your feedback on the Voyo VBook V1 !
I must say I am tempted to buy one of these netbooks because it's cheaper (Gearbest : $208 with android http://www.gearbest.com/tablet-pcs/pp_331052.htmlhttp://www.gearbest.com/tablet-pcs/pp_323958.html or $188 without android : http://www.gearbest.com/tablet-pcs/pp_323958.html ) & lighter than the Asus Chromebook Flip (and with native Android & Windows also).
Does everybody have problems with the keyboard & the battery indicator ?
Does it run OK with android ? Does the sleep mode work OK on android ?
(I tried android on my asus t100ta , it worked good except that it would'nt go to sleep ...)
PS : after checking on another forum there is a file for a dual system (Windows & Android) installation on voyo's website : http://en.myvoyo.com/xiazai/Win%20Pad/VBOOK%20V1/down/ ... so adventurous people can save $20 if they want to install android afterwards

New pumpkin with Android 6.0 Marshmallow

http://www.autopumpkin.com/android-...00-480-resolution-steering-wheel-control.html
good find, seems odd it only has 1 GB of RAM when all these other new ones are supposed to have 2 GB.
So is there a future where our MTCB/MTCD systems would see Android 6 Marshmallow?
anyone know about that processor? Just says Quad-core Cortex A7 Processor in the picture but the specs list:
SKU: 27-AQTU72
USA Warehouse
OS: Android 6.0 Marshmallow
CPU: Allwinner T3 Quad Core
RAM: DDR3 1GB
Nand Memory: 16GB
Cold Boot time: about 25-30s
Boot time(2nd time): about 10s
What do they mean with the following:
5) Support Fast-boot. After the installation, this machine only need about 5 seconds to finish booting from the 2nd time .(Other machines typically take 30 seconds)
Is there some option in Android that they use to get the boot time down to 5 seconds? Or is this just like a standby timer which only works for 1 or 2 hours after switching off the ignition and the next morning one has to wait for 30 seconds again? If I google for Fast-boot, then I obviously only get results about the Fastboot mode to flash images...

In Android 6.0 there is the "Doze mode" in addition to the "sleep mode", right? Could it be that they are using Doze to increase the "Standby-Time" (i.e. no cold boot necessary) to more than 12h without draining the car battery?

good find, seems odd it only has 1 GB of RAM when all these other new ones are supposed to have 2 GB.

It also says DVD in the title and that unit clearly doesn't have one.
Take it with a grain of salt
Guys, this is a preorder. It doesn't surprise me to see it on 1+16. It is low resolution so it should boot just fine if android is set to low memory mode.
Allwinner is sort of an lower end version of Rockchip. It is like Mediatek to Qualcomm. Most likely it will have the Allwinner A33 processor. Here is the spec: http://dl.linux-sunxi.org/A33/A33_Datasheet_release1.0.pdf
It is a quite old processor, first released in Jan 2014 but newer than the RK 3188 that is from 2013...
i talked with pumpkin. the 2gb unit and this one are just tests. they do not know which one they will be going with yet for full production

So they're taking pre-orders for a product that they aren't sure they're going to make?
That's shady even by Chinese standards.
did anyone order this?
Well, I found out that their German store says they have it in stock, if it is correct. But I dont understand why they made a product with 800x600 screen resolution and 1GB RAM in 2016! Also Joying units are about 3cm shorter? (better cooling possibilities) Do I want to pay more because it is android 6? definitely not...

I ordered one through autopumpkin.de and I can confirm the unit has indeed 2 GB ram. I haven't got the fast boot to work yet since the wiring in my car isn't properly set, it seems to miss additional continous 12V current. I will get to that in a later stadium since it's a pain to open my dashboard and get through the wiring jungle.
One nice thing is it supports multiple USB devices through a USB HUB, even though Pumpkin doesn't mention it and states it doesn't work on any of their other units. Right now mine gets internet access through a USB 3G dongle and it plays music from a USB thumb drive.
I do however dislike how they closed down the Android version to the bare minimum. Widgets are not enabled and the two widgets on the desktop can't be removed. Also a lot of Apps won't install on this unit, for example 3G Watchdog Pro and Osmand+ navigation.
Support on the autopumpkin forum is good but restricted to the bare minimum functions as advertised.
@Jerry_R is it possible to upload marshmallow launcher, mtcmusic and radio? Dab app would be awsome too if available... Thx

Hopefully that's just a matter of getting the right settings in build.prop
It might need to be changed to pretend to the store that it's a nexus or galaxy or something.
If you can share the contents of that file people will be able to help.

The unit isn't currently rooted, I'm still looking into things as i just got it. There is no DAB radio app, this model has no DAB module installed.

The problem isn't that it won't install from the play store, the problem is it stops at about 80% of the download, then attempts to install but at some point a message pops up it can't be installed on CF or USB storage. (even though there's plenty of space left on both)
can you post some pics of the unit?

Evolution / HDK Forester Golf Cart Touchscreen

Hello -
My golf cart has a 9" touchscreen that has very limited capability. I'd like to see if there's anything that can be done to enhance by maybe adding an app launcher and then adding a few better apps.
Based on the number I see inside the unit "zl201721508032.8", I think this might be a iMars or Jmance but I really don't know.
Any ideas on how to approach this? Can developer mode be enabled? I clicked around on the version but there's no response. I've connected my laptop to the USB and I see no serial port action.
thanks for any ideas.

I'm always a sucker for a good UART hunt.
Got a voltmeter? Got a USB UART?
Check the voltages on these three pins.
Mmm, I think this is a really low end device. I think that it's not Android at all.
1 GB flash and 64 MB RAM doesn't get you a lot of buzz these days.
Oh good eye on seeing those pins, I completely missed those. I'll give that a try. I've got a couple of the usb-uart things that I've used on routers.
The UI sure looks a lot like other Android auto tablets like that eBay auction and the ones in Jmance website so I was thinking it's Android.
Novice question, could that allwinner board be just the MCU part and the Android part/tablet is below the black plastic with the zl201721508032.8 stamp?

Nope. The white ribbon cable is the fixed pushbuttons on the left of the screen, the orange is the LCD, the black is the I²C interface for the capacitive touch sensor.

I finally got back to this. Flipping the board over, those pins and several others are labeled. Those 3 pins you mentioned (to the upper right of the 18V sticker in new photo) may not be a UART, they are labeled 3V3, GND, KEY1. Any idea what they may be?
The labeling on the 5 vertical pins seem to be a single wire interface module (SWIM) test point. A test module that I don't own.
And there are two groups that do look like UARTS. One in the bottom right and one in the middle below the 3 caps.
The bottom right didn't seem to generate any output but the middle one was quite yappy. I think it was outputting at 115200 but I saw nothing that looked like english text log output, no boot-up logs, I think it was all data. It did react to button presses, turn signals and such.
This was fun but I got no where and it doesn't look very capable or customizable. I think I'm yanking it out and replacing with an Android.
Thanks for your help
I'd think that the yappy one was it.
Did you try 921600 (the new high speed one) or even 38400.
Make sure it's all 8-n-1.

I'm pretty sure I tried 38400 but probably not 921600. I think I was using 8-N-1 but I will dbl check
