Hello there!
I hope some of you could help me a bit! Yesterday I got a brand new MK809IV Android Mini PC
I wanted to install DroidMote Server from play store, but it required root. I tried to go to UGOOS.net and download their rooted version to their MK809IV (They don't look a like, but they had same model number).
It then bricked and after trying 20+ .img-files, I finally found one that could bring me the device back!
But now I can't turn on wifi or bluetooth - It says it does, but it doesn't! :'(
Can someone help me find the original 4.2.2. firmware for my device? I've found some pictures of it:

It works with the device pictured above? How do I install custom Roms pls help
I have the same Mini PC I think
The roms in this post don't work for me. None I have found are the original either.
I'll add photos of my stick to see if they are the same. Maybe someone else has bought the same device and can backup their rom for us.
I found a rom that may work for you.
I just installed a rom I found that works. Its not the original but I can now use wifi and bluetooth and its Kitkat 4.4. It may work for you. It is MTK rom - probably stands for Mediatek which is the chips on my mini pc.
http :// ugoos.net/index.php?route=product/download/get&download_id=47
To install I used RK Rom dumper tool, but there are others. Rom dumper is pretty simple though, just load the firmware and click update. Just have the mini pc connected to your computer in recovery mode. Hold the reset/recovery button on the side as you plug the USB into the side Micro port. You computer should recognise it as a new device and ask for drivers. Run rom dumper go to second tab and click firmware button, choose your rom, then click update. Let it do its thing and the mini pc will reboot a couple of times and it should work.
MK809IV
There is one big problem with the MK809IV which was not in the III version - Heat dissipation. I recently purchased one of these devices and it crashed and recycled to boot sequence. I eventually got it to work, but when I tried the Kodi on line streaming app it crashed, it was an older version, which I removed and updated. I also tried an alternative program Internet Radio (V.Tuner) I found as long as I did not use the streaming apps, it worked, obviously indicating a high CPU usage problem.
By the way that that red plastic slider switch does nothing its not connected to anything
Diagnostics:
I found that the CPU Rockchip 3188 was reaching up to 50C with a thermal sensor attached to the chip. With the open case, I actually got Kodi to work for a few minutes, during that period the CPU rose to above 53.5C and shut down. The chip is a quad core and as such needs adequate ventilating and cooling.
Using an old Pentium Flat heat sink, I coated the surface of the chip with thermal paste and clamped the heat sink to the chip of one corner of the sink. This has to be done out of the case. (Be careful not to damage the reset button beside the CPU) With the heat sensor attached under the plastic hobby clamp. I again ran Kodi and the maximum temperature was around 41C a reduction of 10C after listening to music on line the device work seamlessly for several hours. The maximum temperature reached was 45.6C which appears to be within the tolerance of the CPU chip.
Conclusion:
Poorly designed and inadequate ventilation. No heat sinking of CPU under continuous use. At present I am awaiting seller's response on EBay, have given them a full report of the problem with this model, which many buyers are experiencing.
Solution:
Not recommended to buy, there are now Android Media boxes available for a few dollars more which have a proper well ventilated housing and appropriate cooling devices. With full internet streaming plus DTV PVR and many other functions.
Running a quad core chip in such a confined space is ridiculous! Might have been OK for the earlier single core chips on the MK 802!

MK809IV wifi fix
Hey guys I was looking around and noticed this thread. Figured I would just drop a message for anyone that has one of these. I noticed yesterday when playing with the unit that the odd time I would actually get wifi reception when moving it around. I took it apart and re-located the antenna. Now I can stream fine from 20 feet away. I posted the fix for you guys here and showed you what needs to be done. If you don't have the red slider like I do, cut a slot in the side of the unit and leave the antenna hanging out of the side. (btw, I just joined and saw the antenna above picture is installed correct, unlike mine was, but I don't have issues with my unit any further. Looks like a different chipset as well)
I still have not resolved the Bluetooth issue, but I think I have an idea. I believe they are using the same antenna for both the bluetooth and wifi which may be causing the issue. I may try to separate them at a later time... but for now it is working so I am not messing with it.
I posted the video.... but it won't let me. Search MK809IV media center, S805 WiFi fix in Youtube if you want to see how to get it running.

Had a real tussle with the Chinese seller, opened a dispute on EBay and he agreed to refund. Then told me he would send another. After a week of garbage reverted to Paypal dispute and sent it back. Its arrived in China so refund in full will be coming shortly. Fast becoming very disillusioned with Chinese sellers on Ebay, they insult you by offering $1 compensation etc and lie to Ebay about what they will do. If you have any problems, best to open a dispute via Paypal, they are far more efficient and at least you get your money back
Please reupload that rom

Does anybody have any experience with this cradle? Would you please share it with us. I'm especially interested in FM transmitter quality and charger efficiency.

I'd also be interested if anyone else has first hand experience?
Additional to the OP's requests, does anyone know the make and model for this device, does anyone know if the microphone socket is 2.5mm or 3.5mm, and how securely can it hold a TyTn II in a vertical or horizontal position? (The photos of the mount in use in a car are for a different model, and only show horizontal).

(I'm hoping posting those pics doesn't break any forum rules, I've added them here in case people have an aversion to visiting e-bay In case it isn't obvious, I'm not in any way connected the seller - I'm actually a little suspicious about the device - it seems too good to be true if it works well, and apart from not having a microphone built in meets my needs.)
[edit]
Mic is included, I didn't read the description properly, so unless the supplied one is low quality, that 2.5vs3.5mm query isn't so important, for me at least.
OK, going from the photobucket url, I searched for pocketpcman (not much help, too many results). Can't seem to find a non-ebay shop of his or hers.
His photobucket album is private - I was hoping there would other pics of the model, or the box it came in etc. to aid in identification.
I've sent a question re. the make and model to the seller, will post back if I hear anything
Just got this reply to my e-bay query
this item is supplied directly from my supplier, they do the OEM parts for some big brand companies for years and now they like to work something for themselves.
unlike other car mount, this cradle is molded to fit tytn2. so the last thing you will need to worry about is the phone drop out of the cradle. i use it for my phone (as seen in the pictures), it will not fall out of cradle even you have the cradle upside down.
i will probably have some in stock since the customer feedback is so far so good without problem at all. (you can check my feedback regarding this mount)

So no make or model
Also, the pics he refers to (on the e-bay page), appear to be of a different cradle, one with a speaker grill at the bottom, not an FM frequency selection area. I'm in two minds whether to risk it or not, any able to help out?

In his e-bay store he has to different cradles. One with the speaker is for HTC Touch, other one with FM transmitter is for Kaiser/Tilt.
Did anybody take his chances and bought this thing yet?
By the way, will this cradle hold HTC Tocuh Pro aka Raphael aka AT&T Fuse?
Gave up waiting for a reply from an e-bayer who had the same model for sale.
Took a risk and purchased it, http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&item=270291556041
Will let people here know how well it works, but I won't be in the country until week commencing 17th Nov.
Way to jump in with both feet! Hope it works out. If it does maybe the seller will give you a little bonus. Let us know. And thanks for being the guinea pig.
Have to admit, I sort of tip toed up to the jump line - had to clear it with my wife first (whilst over here in Kazakhstan, she earns 99% of the money, so wasn't mine to gamble with. That said, I may have accidentally forgotten to mention just how untested this model is amongst online communities I frequent )
Like I said, I'll report back with as much info as possible, but looking at around 4 weeks minimum before I get my hands on it (postal service over here is not worth the risk).
OK, received an e-mail from the guy that runs the company. He passed his mobile number, and so I skyped him (Kazakh mobile to UK mobile cost/minute is scary) with my questions.
Obviously I am only relaying his answers, I'll not be seeing this thing for a while yet.
In stock? Yes, a good 30 or so left in stock
Make/Model? OEM, though it was reviewed recently in the PDA Essentials magazine, scored 8/10?
Vertical only? How does it hold it in? Horizontal as well, snug fit - custom made
Microphone socket - 2.5 or 3.5mm? not sure
Charger fused? yes
I had a look through the PDA Essentials forum, and as I'm not in the UK, searched for a torrent with recent editions of the magazine scanned in, but no joy.
Anyway, though I'd pass the info on.
If any readers of PDA Essentials could take a moment to scan through recent editions for a review on this TyTn II FM Car Mount, I'd really appreciate. I've obviously already ordered it, just interested if the reviewers had anything interesting to say.
OK, I've sourced the manual, a description which states you shouldn't use this for voice calls, and an old thread here referring to this same model.
About to head out for a drink, will update this post later tonight/tomorrow, depending on alcohol intake.
American site with 'not for voice calls' ref, manual and one mini review
Old(ish) thread here which refers briefly to this mount - Anyone know if adidas4275 has posted the mentioned mini-review?
As the manual (actually for the ipod version of mount, but should be same) is quite large when viewed on screen, I've chopped it up and hosted it to display here.
Hoping this doesn't ruin the layout of this thread...
Oh, also reduced the pixel size of the manual as it was double the width before
2nd post due to forum's image limit per post....
(all done tonight as not gone out yet)
The package has apparently arrived in good condition, so in 3 or 4 weeks time I should be back home and able to play with it. Will attempt to post notes on it then.
Package arrived a couple of days ago, in good condition, won't be there to test it for 3 weeks, will post back info then.
Arrived, grabbed some photos during the unboxing phase. Only driven twice since installing. No major issues yet. Will try and write up a review sometime soon.
Hello, I ve a BIG problem with my HTC Leo (HD2). I bought it 2 days ago from second-hand. It has windows mobile 6,5. I tried login to 'marketplace' from wi fi but it doesnt work. I ve got 3 notebook in my house and PSP and there is connection with Wi Fi with all this stuff. At last HTC catched signal when I turned back HTC to antenna which was 30 cm from mobile. I losed signal when I moved HTC. I changed RADIO (from XX.XX.51.XX to XX.XX.50.XX) and ROM and installed Android SD/inROM. I changed BUILD many times and problems always was the same - no signal. Now I have STOCK HTC BUILD

This problem is still appearing. Please help me because i dont know what I should to do.
PS. Im sorry for my english mistakes

whether nobody knows how solve my problem? Very please help
Sounds likely to be hardware related.
You could try a Task 29 & then a Energy ROM & radio from my Signature & see what happens !
Have you tried to set wifi to best signal performance and seen any improvement ?
I fear use the Task 29 because I fear Brick. Anyway, I can not find "Energy Dinik 23699 Nov24" download. changed the signal for the best performance and conserves battery power and can not see no improvement. Maybe to give up the phone for guarantees?

I think your wifi cable is loose from inside.
I have disassembled and re-assembled my hd2 2 times. one for cleaning the light sensors (coz the hd2 wud sleep during a call and not wake up)
second to fix the power button. some dirt got under the power button. now everything works well..
my point being. each time i disassemble i notice the wifi cable comes off very easily without much effort. but gps cable comes out if you apply enough pressure.
EDIT. i gave a little wrong info. no need to go deep inside the device. when you take out the back cover the wifi cable is just there. so no need to take apart the screen and flex cable.
also. check if you can pair bluetooth with another device. if you cannot pair the bluetooth or cannot find a bluetooth connection then its definately loose wire.
once u watch this video u will know its very easy
http://wmpoweruser.com/video-learn-how-to-disassemble-your-htc-hd2/
but if i open m phone i lose guarantees
does ur device still have warranty?
btw no need to go inside for the flex cable. read my post again. i have edited my information.
there is absolutely no need to go inside the device. when you remove the bottom cover, the wifi cable is visible.
well...then you can try servicing it in an authorized shop.

means its the wifi cable. (btw the wifi and bluetooth cable are the same)
since u dont have the tools. u might wana send it off for service or anyone else who is capable of.
ok. write yet what exactly I have to do with the cable after opening the phone?
there will be little socket on the wire on both sides. and the plug will be on the board.
when i say socket and plug...its actually very small.
so just push it place. whichever side is loose that is. remember. its the black cable. dont play with the white cable...which is gps cable.
here is the image of such a cable. its called coaxial cable.
the cable has the female connector and the male connectors is on board on either sides. one is up and the other is on main board (down)
and here are the male connectors marked in RED.
take notice of the orange area i have marked. BE CAREFUL that you dont accidently press on this area. the gold metal clip wil break very easily. this is the actual wifi / bluetooh antennae contacts to the cover.
Do I understand? Simply plug will put more strongly into the slot and should be good to catch WiFi coverage? And if that's not enough, and still will not log in correctly wifi what I must do. I want to know now to not ride to the commission sale after 1000 times
"dzizys .... za co , panie za co... "
YEP. last night only collins521 was having the same problem. after he reconnected the cable his wifi is working in full strength.
see here what he had to say.

ayyu3m,
VERY helpful posts regarding the WiFi problems--especially excellent with the informative photos. On a semi-related note, I've just developed severe reception (regular signal, not wifi) problems on a year-and-a-half old HD2. Signal quality has abruptly plunged recently, and after running exhaustive tests I think I can rule out any and all software/firmware related causes. A hard drop into the street while getting out of my car last month might be the culprit...
Anyway, getting to the point: Since the phone is no longer under warranty, and in similar fashion to your troubleshooting advice above, is there anything I can check in there which could be causing the poor signal reception, like the regular antenna coming "loose" over time or due to a hard knock (or two)? I can't tell from the diagrams you posted, and since I've never opened the HD2 I don't even know where the antenna is located or if it's even accessible for examination without totally dismantling the phone. Any advice you can give me? It would be greatly appreciated.
If not, perhaps I will start a separate thread (and I don't mean to hijack this one), but with the great shots of the HD2 innards along with your clear explanations, I couldn't resist seeing if you had a similar 'how-to' regarding the main antenna.

Thank you very much. I gave it a read and page 96,97 & 98 relate to component level information and is relevant to my question.
Although, I couldn't find a part number for the motherboard as a whole. May be I should provide more information about the problem I'm facing to help narrow things down.
After a pretty(very) bumpy ride, I noticed that the phone had switched off and wasn't coming back on. I assumed that I had damaged the phone. I put it on charge and a few hours later, to my surprise, it came back on. Ever since, I've been facing these problems.
a. Phone consumes battery whilst in switched off mode. I'm talking ~40% drop overnight.
b. 2g works only via 64K SIM cards. Phone disconnects from the network when I set it to 2g when on a 32K SIM.
c. Wi-Fi doesn't work - I get the obtaining IP address error. From the battery usage stats, I can tell that the Wi-Fi unit is drawing power.
Folks at the Samsung service centre suggested that I replace the entire motherboard. It costs ~ £120, which is a little too steep and much to invest on a 2 yr old phone. Spares and peripherals usually carry a nasty mark up, which is why I'm trying to get one from the makers or others who are willing to sell it for lesser.
Edit: Stock ROM fixed the Wi-Fi issue.

Pages 8 to 16 gives the part and code numbers, although, these are not detailed, without them, you will have a hard time trying to buy online...best thing to do is let a technician at your end, check it and let him tell you what parts you need and than you try and purchase them online with part numbers
from what you are saying it could be a simple cracked board ...that may need some reconnection as it is obviously shorting causing power drain even when in OFF mode .
off course technicians can be tricky, so may need to find someone you can trust

You're right. Finding a trustworthy technician can be tricky. Even when I do, they won't offer any kind of assurance. £120 with a guarantee is starting to appear more attractive than £50 with none.
I was lazy. It's listed on page 9. This must be the part number of the motherboard - QMP01 A/S ASSY-PBA MAIN_GT-I9000B,BRAZ (SVC) GH82-04996A
Online search of that part# doesn't help in anyway whatsoever.

Hey guys,
I have found a solution to solve the hardware problem with the LG E900 Optimus 7,
showing the message 'Memory card not working' Your memory card has changed, is damaged or is non-compatible.

Flashing a new firmware or restoring images with zune does not solve the problem!
This message, if shown on a LG E900, implicates a hardware error with the NAND flash memory,
a Toshiba THGBM2G7D4FBAI9.
The memory chip is soldered to the top layer of the 2-layer mainboard, together with the led, sim card holding, head phone jack...
You can see it in the middle of this pic:
The hadware error is probably issued by broken solder joints, in turn probably issued by changes in temperature and/or physical exposure.
Following solution worked for me: (tried with one phone one month ago)
I heated the Toshiba memory chip with a heat tool with around 200 degrees Celsius (400 degrees Fahrenheit) for around ten minutes,
this is a technique sometimes used to repair broken graphic cards, please search google for this if you think there's something fishy going on here.
I used a 340 degree heat tool, with a 2cm distance first until I saw some solder balls, 'dripping' out, I increased the distance to 5cm.
After reasembling the phone works and does still work without problems.
Although this worked for me, it does not mean that it will work for you too.
Please try and comment, if it worked for you!!
Heating the memory chip should solve the problem not only temporary, if you get the same message some time afterwards, try again with more degrees (max 300) and/or a longer period (max 30min)
If you do not have the ability to heat the memory chip with a heat tool, you may trie to bake the whole mainboard layer. A problem could be a smelting head phone jack.

I hope that I find time to provide more information on the website mentioned above, I currently do not have much time to provide detailed phone dissasemble, assemble information, please search youtube for such vids.
Feel free to ask any questions in this thread or on my website.
Hope it works.

Dear Guys,
I tried it (with Dremel Versatip tool with appropiate distance) and now phone even doesn`t react for on/off button. Nothing happens after switch on the charger.
Before "my fix" after charger on it shows "memory card error".
I assembled it couple of times in order to check if everything is on its place.
So now phone is completelly dead (in final nothings happen .
Any ideas?
rgds,
G.
Same problem...
Also gave this a shot, managed to get the solder to 'drip' out but straight after the chip itself actually caught on fire... perhaps a little too much heat? =P
Now can't boot past the LG logo with the top board attached. Strangely it boots up perfectly if I disconnect the top board, however this is somewhat useless since the digitizer and SIM are both located on this board. Perhaps a lost cause...

I had almost the same issue (I did not catch a fire on memory chip). After disconnecting top board phone boots, but because of unworking screen I can not proceed with anything.
After switching on the top board, phone does not want to start at all, not even giving me a LG logo on screen. No reaction on on/off button.
Have no more ideas what to do...?

no boot only LG logo! Solved
I had a similar problem , my phone was frozen at LG start screen , i removed the memory board , i put it in the oven for 10 mins at 180 °C, put it back all together , and it worked!!!! i could save all my pics and video !!
THANKS a lot!!!
*pic in attachment
tanks so much, its worked for me, i have heat the memory chip with a heat tool for few minutes and ok.
I also attempted this repair. Removed the top part of the main board, insulated a few parts like the headphone jack with blu-tack, flooded board in flux, (even though none of it went under the chip...) Then I put the board in oven until infrared thermometer showed 240 degrees celcius on the chip and opened the oven door. After waiting for the board to cool down, cleaned with isopropyl alcohol, reassembled. Works, for the time being.. Thanks for info and ideas guys. :good:
I put it in the oven for 5 mins at 180 °C, it worked and I can recover all of my pictures. Thanks!
It worked! Thanks guys for help
Put it in at 180°C for 10 minutes.
All best.
How do you know if your GPS working or Hardware defective
I install Dr. Ketan L16 version ROM for my note 4 and did all the instruction to full wipe and install clean ROM but my GPS not working properly ( it s keep bouncing while I drive my can and never stayed in the road but when I reach my destination GPS helper sound say you arrived to your destination although the arrow for direction does not accompany me and there is no one telling trun right or turn lift even though I make sure that I did on the helper to speak while I drive) so my conclusion is it is not working as it should be I contact Dr. Ketan and he replied to me that there is no problem and no one report that tere is a GPS problem so I would like to know and want your help on how to discover if it is GPS haredware or software problem in my note 4 my device is N910f please I am really disparete to know the solution.
please help me I do not want to change Dr. Ketan ROM it is really rock if you have a similar powerful ROM tell me it's name I tryied Kuby rom also it's very good but I notice some battery drain even though I do not use my phone and no wifi and I am not using it it drop down from 100 to 90 present in one hour also I want to mention that my Battery is brand new.
I had the same problem. My GPS used to work well but someday when I needed it, I discovered it was not working anymore. I tried many different roms, many tweaks, many apps, nothing helped, my GPS was next to unusable. I finally found the strength to crack it open. The GPS connectors were not touching the back of the phone where the antenna is, no connection was made and so the GPS was not working. I raised the pins just a little and now everything is perfect. It seems to be a common problem among Note 4 users. Opening N4 is not the easiest thing in the world, but if I have made it, then many people should be able too.
First thing to do is try this app. If you cannot get a strong lock in 1 minutes max, maybe you should consider the hardware problem.
thank you man I will try but please tell me if you have a trusted apk that can tell you weather your GPS hardware is working or not. or something similar to this.
See after installation this is what I got

I do not think that there's an app to definitely tell you that your GPS hardware is faulty. The app you used gives only clues and your picture indicates that your GPS is not receiving any satellite signal. Mine used to show the same thing. The GPS pins are located on the upper right corner of the phone, as you watch the phone from the back.
This video shows how to open Note 4, it helped me a great deal.

You are welcome my friend. If this is actually the problem, then it's easy to fix, once the device is open. And maybe you should tell the technician to put a tiny piece of paper under the GPS pins, so they cannot loose connection again. I did not do that and now I'm just waiting for the pins to get loose again, so I can open it again and fix it once and for all.
In any case ask a moderator to move the topic to Q&A section!
please do not move it just yet today I am going to a workshop and if it's a GPS pin problem I will report with picture then you can close it and remove it... please just wait
