Root N915F Lollipop Easily - Note Edge General

I successfully rooted my N915F running on latest lollipop using this method, just download the cf root 915f files , flash with odin that is provided inside the zip file and ofcourse it will fail, then flashed the latest TWRP 2.8.7.0 , in my case i have to make the tar file using cygwin because the tar file is not available on TWRP website instead you will get a img file. After the TWRP is up, i flashed the supersu 2.46 and its done
Note: i m new and not allowed to post the outside links, you can google the files and find it very easily. To make the tar file you can search img to tar using cygwin method.
To get a better Idea with proper description you can follow TEKHD thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-edge/general/easy-steps-stock-odin-n915tuvu1anjl-sm-t2943993

[Q] Confusion with Flashing CWM from Odin...

All the CWM files from the official website are *.img but odin3 is asking for a tar file.
there has to be some reason why all the files are IMG that its the right file (its the only thing available form their site...). Where can I find a tar file from CWM?
Additionally, do you have to root to flash CWM from stock?

Here is the TWRP open recovery tar you need:

You don't need to extract anything, simply flash this TAR file using Odin.
Good luck!

N910W8 Custom Recovery?

Hi Everyone,
The Note 4 is my first Android phone and I've been doing a lot of reading the last two hours.
I want to install CyanogenMod because I hate the TouchWiz look. So I discovered I need to root my phone and install a custom recovery. I've rooted my phone successfully but I cannot find the Note 4 listed on the CWM website.
So how do I install a custom recovery on Note 4 N910W8?
TWRP http://teamw.in/project/twrp2/266
Thanks for the link!
Do you happen to have install instructions?
I see a .img, .tar, and a .zip file.
What do I do with them? My first guess was to download the .tar file and use it in Odin with the PDA button (like when I rooted with CF), but selecting the file crashes Odin so I assume that is incorrect.

I downloaded the IMG file one and then I installed the Flashify app from the Google play store and used that to install the IMG recovery.

[Q] TWRP 2.8.x.x are .img, how do I convert to .tar?

So I was following a root guide : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2471340
I did the CF root successfully using Odin 3.07, but now I am stuck on the TWRP. The link it provides downloads only .img files even if I click on 2.8.x.x .img.tar files.
Link for TWRP : http://goo.im/devs/OpenRecovery/hltecan
Is there a way to convert them?
Thanks
Hello, To create odin flashable packages you need a special compression, I created an APP to do this in a simple way.

Can i install stock ROM(zip file) using TWRP? N910F

Lot of confusion please help i want to go back to stock for my gear VR
According to
this thread where i posted photos of my phones INFO
I downloaded N910F( UK BTU) 6.0.1 firmware (.ZIP) file
When i tried to flash using TWRP it says ZIP file is corrupted.
I downloaded it from two website
sammobile
and
samsung.org
both are corrupted(it should not be i think)
When i look into it it has only one file .tar.md5
i tried to extarct it using winrar and it says file is corrpted
\BTU-N910FXXS1DQFA-20170726090446.zip: The archive is corrupt
Although it extracted the N910FXXS1DQFA_N910FBTU1DPL1_N910FXXS1DQA1_HOME.tar.md5
In both files i got the same result same
i dont know what to do now
I tried Odin and it stuck at "there is no pit file partition" or something like that
(yes i wiped out cache and system delvik etc.)
I also tried inserting PIT file but no luck
i would prefer without Odin if possible
As I can go into TWRP recovery
Please guide me or at least answer a few question
1. Is it even possible to flash stock rom using twrp like i flash other roms?
2. Can i install extracted .md5 file from that zip? will it be the same like stock zip?
3. Why my Both zip files are corrpted? your opinion?
4. Should i download again same stock rom?
5. Can / Should i flash or download and /or downgrade Stock firmware (same 6.0.1 )but different release date?
6. Am i downloading the right firmware for my device here is my device details posted??
Lot of confusion please help i want to go back to stock for my gear VR
Based on the amount and type of questions, I believe you need to read up on basic Note 4 flashing/customization knowledge first. Go and read up on the stickies.
Without knowledge and experience, we can tell you how to do a brain surgery, but doesn't make you a surgeon.
No, twrp cannot be used to flash stock rom. Stock rom are most of the time md5 files, used by ODIN only.
Since you downloaded the zip files, use the "Test" function to see if it is corrupted?
Maybe you should just flash a stock based custom rom with VR and be done with it.

Check your Winzip version. It may be old and doesnt handle large zipfiles too well. I had the same problem but I know the file was good as I downloaded it at work, and Winzip worked just fine; but when I got home, winzip failed on my pc - old 8.1 version. I used the trial version just fine to unzip.

Did you keep the ROM as a Zip file when you loaded it in to Odin?
Do not unzip the ROM file.
Try again.
