N910W8 Custom Recovery? - Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi Everyone,
The Note 4 is my first Android phone and I've been doing a lot of reading the last two hours.
I want to install CyanogenMod because I hate the TouchWiz look. So I discovered I need to root my phone and install a custom recovery. I've rooted my phone successfully but I cannot find the Note 4 listed on the CWM website.
So how do I install a custom recovery on Note 4 N910W8?

TWRP http://teamw.in/project/twrp2/266

Thanks for the link!
Do you happen to have install instructions?
I see a .img, .tar, and a .zip file.
What do I do with them? My first guess was to download the .tar file and use it in Odin with the PDA button (like when I rooted with CF), but selecting the file crashes Odin so I assume that is incorrect.

I downloaded the IMG file one and then I installed the Flashify app from the Google play store and used that to install the IMG recovery.

[Q] GooManager / TWRP Problems

I am running SACS V8 Rom with the Blue Theme. My father decided he really liked it and wanted it on his too.
So, I rooted his phone (Used ODIN and flashed CF-Auto-Root-jfltespr-jfltespr-sphl720.tar). He is on MF9.
I verified Root. Downloaded GooManager and went to have it install a Open Recovery (Just like I did on my phone.)
Problem is, when I tell it to Install Open Recover Script, it keeps coming up and saying "No Recoveries Were Found".
What's going on? It worked just fine when I ran it on my phone.
Any ideas????
I was going to use ODIN to try and install TWRP, but when I downloaded the TWRP 2.5.0.2 TAR file from the TWRP website, when I unzipped it, it was a .img file not a .tar so ODIN wouldn't see it.
Try ROM installer, I'm sure that will work, make sure you set your device name on settings

[q] help! How do i go back to my stock kernel

I installed a kernel but there's a wifi bug and i don't know how to fix it. I made a backup before, but when i restore it, it doesn't go BACK!
i have i337M (4.4.2)
Someone please help me ..
I haven't personally tried this on the s4 but it should work. Grab the 4.4.2 factory tar file, rename it without the.md5, and extract it. Inside you should find a boot.img. Put that on your device and flash it with flashify from the play store.

Thanks! I will try it when I finish downloading the File from SamMobile.
Just to Clarify:
I need to remove the .md5 from the name? So just .tar? and then extract and put the boot.img on my sd and install flashify and flash from there? And my kernel will be back to stock?
If I wanted to unroot, would i just flash the .tar file through Odin? That would remove TWRP, root and custom kernel, am i correct?
Thanks.

[Q] Stock recovery needed for Tab 4 7" SM-T230NU

Hi, i have a galaxy tab 4 7" i got a few days ago. I found a way to root it by flashing TWRP recovery through ODIN, and i succeeded getting root access. Now my tablet has a software update available, and i don't have the stock recovery available. Can anyone upload the stock recovery file for my tablet? My build number is: T230NUUEUOANK2. Thanks.
Edit: Stock recovery found, no need for this post anymore.
Is there any way you can post the link of where you found the stock recovery I'm having the same problem with my tab 4

Go to this thread and download the file with your tablet model number to your PC. Open up the zip and extract the .tar file inside (might be .tar.md5, whatever, doesn't matter). Now, you know how you just opened up that zip file in Winrar or 7zip because it's an archive? Well, those Odin tar files are archives too! (TAR = Tape Archive Record) So just open the tar (or tar.md5) file in Winrar or 7zip and extract the file called recovery.img. That's the stock recovery you're after.

Installare Recovery TWRP

Hi guys I would like to install the TWRP recovery on my note 3 n9005. I went on the website but would like to know which files I download from TWRP-3.0.0-0-hltetmo.img.tar or TWRP-3.0.0-0-hltetmo.img.
What is the difference between tar and .img ??

A .img is an image file flash-able with ADB software with .tar is an archive file which u can flash with Odin. Down according to which u are more comfortable using.
There are instructions written on their page.
Oh wait, you have to read them, so there's the problem. Sorry.

Can i install stock ROM(zip file) using TWRP? N910F

Lot of confusion please help i want to go back to stock for my gear VR
According to
this thread where i posted photos of my phones INFO
I downloaded N910F( UK BTU) 6.0.1 firmware (.ZIP) file
When i tried to flash using TWRP it says ZIP file is corrupted.
I downloaded it from two website
sammobile
and
samsung.org
both are corrupted(it should not be i think)
When i look into it it has only one file .tar.md5
i tried to extarct it using winrar and it says file is corrpted
\BTU-N910FXXS1DQFA-20170726090446.zip: The archive is corrupt
Although it extracted the N910FXXS1DQFA_N910FBTU1DPL1_N910FXXS1DQA1_HOME.tar.md5
In both files i got the same result same
i dont know what to do now
I tried Odin and it stuck at "there is no pit file partition" or something like that
(yes i wiped out cache and system delvik etc.)
I also tried inserting PIT file but no luck
i would prefer without Odin if possible
As I can go into TWRP recovery
Please guide me or at least answer a few question
1. Is it even possible to flash stock rom using twrp like i flash other roms?
2. Can i install extracted .md5 file from that zip? will it be the same like stock zip?
3. Why my Both zip files are corrpted? your opinion?
4. Should i download again same stock rom?
5. Can / Should i flash or download and /or downgrade Stock firmware (same 6.0.1 )but different release date?
6. Am i downloading the right firmware for my device here is my device details posted??
Lot of confusion please help i want to go back to stock for my gear VR
Based on the amount and type of questions, I believe you need to read up on basic Note 4 flashing/customization knowledge first. Go and read up on the stickies.
Without knowledge and experience, we can tell you how to do a brain surgery, but doesn't make you a surgeon.
No, twrp cannot be used to flash stock rom. Stock rom are most of the time md5 files, used by ODIN only.
Since you downloaded the zip files, use the "Test" function to see if it is corrupted?
Maybe you should just flash a stock based custom rom with VR and be done with it.

Check your Winzip version. It may be old and doesnt handle large zipfiles too well. I had the same problem but I know the file was good as I downloaded it at work, and Winzip worked just fine; but when I got home, winzip failed on my pc - old 8.1 version. I used the trial version just fine to unzip.

Did you keep the ROM as a Zip file when you loaded it in to Odin?
Do not unzip the ROM file.
Try again.
