I am running SACS V8 Rom with the Blue Theme. My father decided he really liked it and wanted it on his too.
So, I rooted his phone (Used ODIN and flashed CF-Auto-Root-jfltespr-jfltespr-sphl720.tar). He is on MF9.
I verified Root. Downloaded GooManager and went to have it install a Open Recovery (Just like I did on my phone.)
Problem is, when I tell it to Install Open Recover Script, it keeps coming up and saying "No Recoveries Were Found".
What's going on? It worked just fine when I ran it on my phone.
Any ideas????
I was going to use ODIN to try and install TWRP, but when I downloaded the TWRP 2.5.0.2 TAR file from the TWRP website, when I unzipped it, it was a .img file not a .tar so ODIN wouldn't see it.
Try ROM installer, I'm sure that will work, make sure you set your device name on settings

NOTE: AT&T variant. Phone is running 4.2.2 with MF3 baseband
So I'm helping a friend root his phone and run a custom ROM. The root went successfully (motochopper) and we installed SafeStrap and then we did a backup and wipe and then installed a 4.3 Google Play edition ROM (first mistake as we meant to download the 4.2 version)
I have the stock firmware zip for the phone and figured that that was the way to fix it, but I can't figure out how to get it to install. Through ADB it gives me an error after starting DAEMON. I converted the zip to a .tar and tried to use ODIN but ODIN stops working as soon as I tell it to run. I made sure I had the most current, correct drivers and am running ODIN3 v1.85. I thought maybe if I put it on the SD card I could install it though that method via the stock recovery but it says there is an invalid arguement.
What am I doing wrong?
Help

What stock firmware zip do you have? You have to have the mf3 .tar.md5 file if you're trying to use odin
How does he have mf3 and motochopper works? It shouldn't. Also you have to have a custom recovery to flash the gpe rom and we don't. The closest thing we have is safestrap.

I'm not sure. I just used the first method I found and it worked. Then when it came to the recovery part that's when I found out about his baseband

I'm on the SamMobile site trying to find the firmware and it says that they don't have it. I find that weird that such a popular model doesn't have the firmware needed to do this. I put in the correct model and country
EDIT: nevermind.
Hello all, maybe you guys can help me out. I have an ATT S4 on MDL firmware with the old boot loader. I wanted to flash a new ROM yesterday and decided I would use Odin to re install my MDL firmware before I flashed to clean up some old files that a wipe wasn't getting rid of. I have done this plenty of times before and never had a problem. Anyway, I re installed the MDL firmware - everything went fine. Then rooted and that went fine. I then downloaded CWM and that's where the problem started. It downloaded fine but then when I tried to boot into recovery it will not boot into custom recovery - just the standard stock recovery. I checked and the file did download to the correct place but for some reason it is not installing. I also tried TWRP and Philz and no luck either. Other than that the phone is fine. Everything works and it is rooted it just will not install the recovery no matter what I try.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Did you ever check the md5 of the downloads? I'd make sure they were good and then try to flash the recovery

Hi jd, yes sir. Checked MD5 and that was fine. Also downloaded Odin and Motochopper again just in case something was wrong there and everything was fine.
Fixed
Found a solution. There is a flash-able TWRP file in the TWRP thread that you can flash with an app from the Play Store called Flashify,

Here is the TWRP open recovery tar you need:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/45687485/openrecovery-twrp-2.7.2.0-hltetmo-4.4.img.tar
You don't need to extract anything, simply flash this TAR file using Odin.
Good luck!

Thank you I see I was not suppose to download the zip
Hi Everyone,
The Note 4 is my first Android phone and I've been doing a lot of reading the last two hours.
I want to install CyanogenMod because I hate the TouchWiz look. So I discovered I need to root my phone and install a custom recovery. I've rooted my phone successfully but I cannot find the Note 4 listed on the CWM website.
So how do I install a custom recovery on Note 4 N910W8?
TWRP http://teamw.in/project/twrp2/266
Thanks for the link!
Do you happen to have install instructions?
I see a .img, .tar, and a .zip file.
What do I do with them? My first guess was to download the .tar file and use it in Odin with the PDA button (like when I rooted with CF), but selecting the file crashes Odin so I assume that is incorrect.

I downloaded the IMG file one and then I installed the Flashify app from the Google play store and used that to install the IMG recovery.
I was running on dark aurora rom and i tried to use flashify to download twrp so i can flash CM12.1 with it (Since cmw didnt work for some reason) and when i opened twrp it says that my phone has no OS and it cant read my backups or my files (including the cm12.1 zip file) and right know when i try to power up the phone it opens up twrp and i dont know what to do
Tried flashing stock firmware with odin and i cant boot into the system just stuck at samsung logo
Does it read an SD card? If so, try flashing a rom through TWRP. Else, try a PIT flash through Odin.
