I was wondering if i remove my old housing (due to broken screen), would i have to buy a new earpiece with fresh adhesive or could my old earpiece clip in to place (i'm not too sure how the earpiece attaches just yet). I would much rather replace the whole front housing as it's much easier than removing the screen by heating up the old adhesive and removing it with the screen and putting on tape which is much too fiddly for my likings.

please note.
1. your phone will not be water proof any more and any water can do a lot of damage so be careful now.
2. remove speaker mesh which is glued and place in into the new hosing so dust will not damage your speaker.

DO IT NOW! Within an hour of taking the thick protective film off and putting the protector on I had a scratch. And no, it doesn't look bad or affect performance at all putting another on.

Questions should be asked in the 'Xperia Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting' forum, not in 'Xperia Z General'.
Also, if you would have searched, you would have found some threads about this topic.
The pre-installed Anti-Shatter Film (ASF) is not scratch resistant. The ASF is not supposed to be removed. Removing it is not easy, will remove the Sony logo and can void your warranty, so it's recommended to apply a screen protector on top of it.
You will not notice that two films are installed. Touch sensitivity will remain good.
So.. no joke, I just went to open up my charger port to plug in my charger into my SGS5
And the little cover flap has just broken/snapped off out of the hinge :/
I longer have a water/dust resistant phone

Hello! I am new here, here's what happen: i was recording im phone from a pool i think it only took 5 mins from the pool and i noticed that the recent button is functioning itself. when i opened the back cover it has some water in it even the board has. i removed the battery blow dry it for about 3 mins and put it in the container that has white rice Just now. will it work? I will let it there for 2 days. ps the back cover is already replaced that's not from samsung
If you want to submerge your Galaxy S5 make sure that you have closed the back cover correctly, there isnt any crack on your back cover, USB port closed tightly, rubber water resistant seal isnt broken. Every day I often wash my Galaxy S5, record video underwater and I dont have any problem
the trick worked. its working now. i bought it second hand so the back cover is no longer original. i wont submerge it again or else if i got the original one
Don't EVER trust the seals on the S5 to be waterPROOF. IP67 means the device is water RESISTANT up to a depth of 1M.
For the device to be classed as waterPROOF, it would have to be classified as IP68 which means it will withstand immersion under pressure for extended periods of time. IP67 is classed more as protection against accidentally dropping the phone in a sink full of water or handling the device with wet hands....nothing more than that.

Hello Guys, I heard that ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL can clean the dirt inside the Phone, I watched on the YouTube how to fix it but they have to separate the board. Now my question is, it is Ok to submerged the whole phone on the ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL without separating the board and camera? and Mic also?... help me please. thank you very much.
Most definitely not .
From my personal experience, once the phone has water damage, it's impossible to fix it.
The best thing would be to completely disassemble the phone and pack the parts in a bag of desiccant for a few days.
