I am not happy with the update.
For getting to the quicksettings I need two clicks instead of one.
They changed some things but not for the better.
Where is the immersion mode? I do not want to see the status bar and the navigation bar all the time!
There is one setting but it had no effect here. Can someone explain it? It is called "click to hide the notification bar", see attachment.

Love it. Everything is so smooth now.

i wasnt expecting lollipop when i update, the description doesnt say anything like that. lenovo said we will get lollipop on Q3

@hoderlump
It means when your Notification Center is opened and you press on the Notificationbar it will close. @s1conan
I read the update notification and they wrote that they will update the Tablet to Lollipop.

i dont get it, it only said that new update available, when i click i got to the update screen, i click the version it says something about design change launcher or whatever, i didnt see lollipop word

It said Android 5.
I'm loving it. It's finally fast and smooth. I came very close to getting rid of this tablet because it performed like a low budget phone from years ago like a galaxy ace.
Now, after update and factory reset, its lightning fast. Wonderful.

I have a YOGA Tablet 2-830F (8") but there's no update available. (Settings -> About tablet -> System Update -> Check update : "This is the latest version").
Is there any country restriction or something ? Should I try using a VPN to get an US IP ? (I'm in France)

I am in the UK, and I could see the upgrade yesterday, and was notified automatically when I switched my 10" Yoga 2 tablet on. However, I wanted to research a bit first to make sure the tablet could be rooted again after the upgrade.
However, my tablet now says I have the latest version (4.4.2) and there is no upgrade to 5.0 available. Perhaps Lenovo pulled the upgrade after hearing of some user's problems?

I did the same thing but after a reboot the update showed up again.

Hello, i know that the thing i want to talk about doesnt have much to do with this topic but hopefully i can get some answers. I am thinking of buying yoga tablet 2 10 but i would like to know a couple things. I would like to know the performance.. Are there any lags in launcher... and what about games? Are they running smoothly? Are there overall any lags or things like that? And what about battery? . Thanks for answers

Before the Lollipop update, I wouldn't have recommend this tablet. Now there's no lag at all and all games run smoothly.

I'm not seeing the Lollipop update. Any word on whether it's been pulled by Lenovo?

I just called Lenovo's support. He didn't tell me anything about the update being pulled, just that it can take some time before the update is available for my device. It seems like they do not send the update to all devices at the same time.
I don't really know if he didn't made that up. He didn't seem to know a lot about the update processes...
I think I'll call again xD
Edit: I just called again, the woman didn't understand why I don't have the update. She knows nothing about the update being pulled and told me to wait a few more days ... She also told me to try rebooting or restoring my tablet but I already did. I think I'll just wait xD

It's pretty common for OTA updates to roll out in phases, with a small percentage getting it right off, and then a pause before everyone else starts receiving them. Just in case there are issues they can be addressed before it becomes a giant support nightmare. Hopefully I see it again

Thank you for this information, it seems to be a good reason.
I'm not familiar with Android updates (this tablet is my first Android device). On iOS everybody can download the update the same day. (Am I allowed to speak about iOS on this forum? )
Anyways, I wished Lenovo's support had given me such an explanation instead of just telling me to wait

I just got my update !
Notifications on lockcreen are nice and the user interface seems more reactive. I'm sure I've a lot more to discover !

Am i the only one whos have much bigger baterry drain after update to 5.0.1 ? and back of tablet is much much warmer then before update ? i already have down clocked (baterry saving setting) procesor but its same.warmer and less battery life...

ZTE V9 (Light) updates

I just bought this cheap promising tablet and im just wondering is there any custom roms avaible or updates to 2.2 or 2.3 andoid?
This device comes with 2.1-update1 android default, baseband version is V9B01 and kernel version is 2.6.29 zte-kernel(at)Zdroid-SMT. Build number is Light_V9V1.0.0B06
i hope this device gets something newer soon because this feels like it's from stone age after using 2.2
I am thinking of buying this also so I am interested for root/froyo also
i just rooted, it was very easy, i used universal androot.
Nice. You guys have any suggestions for a 3g tablet? Something that is on the market at the moment...
Except for an ipad...

Battery life and screen readability and responsiveness.
hi all,
I'm really considering buying this pad.
How is the battery life?
What about the screen in terms of readability and responsiveness?
Thanks.
i have been using it two days and now it needs to be recharged, specs says 500hrs at idle and 10hrs at full use...
Screen is good and clear, some colour makes weird lines but it doesent bother me. (it is cheap afterall)
Touch response is very good, touchscreen type is resistive and it works perfect in cold conditions.. -30celcius here in finland and it works very good in outdoor use
when in extreme cold conditions, like here in finland at -30celcius, battery behaves very weird, suddenly device reboots and says that battery is dead and when you reboot it says it has same amout of power when it rebooted first time.. i noticed same thing with galaxy s, maby it is just feature to protect device.
my device was left in cold for 5hrs and then i used it*
Just gave one to my wife. Great device for the price. Only problem is Android 2.1, no apps to card, bugged wifi and all known problems for this Rom. Anxiously waiting for 2.2.
My advise for anyone wanting to buy a tablet is... go for it. It's cheap, well build, good looking, fast (for a 700 speed processor) and the screen is very responsive.
Ok so i got one of these 3 days ago. took it back yesterday.
works fine. nice device but it doesnt seem to want to charge when im using it. (draws more current than is charging with)
i returned it for that issue.
basically the optus guy left it on a charger for a couple hours, saw that the charge had went up and called me to come collect it.
no refund/replacement.
is is just mine. do others have this problem?
also MODS can we get a forum for this device. it is VERY popular over here (sold out everywhere) as our telco optus has just released its "mytab" branded zte v9
ALSO:
i can play standard avi files 90% and i would love to be able to overclock. the extra 100mhz would really help. Unfortunately i'm a beginner dev.
I know how to compile and flash a kernel. can someone take me throught he steps for modifying cpu scaling?
I just bought the same ZTE Light yesterday, I really love this tablet, but.... there is a problem charging the battery.. The red charge light is just blinking, but nothing happens. I will take it back to shop and request new one for replacement, because I really liked this device.
So does this mean that you were able to patch 2.1 to 2.2 version ? Any help howto do it ?
theres no patch released yet but zte manufacturer said that it will be released near end of this year

Might be a silly question but did you install the battery? I have one of the Optus Branded ZTE V9's and the battery was not installed in the tablet - it is in the box. The tablet blinks and flashes the Android Bot logo if you dont have the battery in the tablet.

Mine was doing that, there is a status bar on the top which you can slide down, once all the items needing attention are cleared it will stop blinking. For example mine was telling me to update time zone and that the SD card has been mounted. So I believe this is a status light.
Hi all!
I contacted ZTE about V9 (Light) updates and had very frustrating news.
Here's the message:
Dear Sir / Madam,
I am sorry to inform you that android 2.2 software is now unavailable.
Until now we have no plan to upgrade for Android 2.2.
Best Regards
Sincerely yours
ZTE MOBILE DEPARTMENT
So here's the deal. We have to dev the update ourself. I thinking about bringing the device away cause the seller said that the 2.2 update will be out end of this year... quess it won't.
but zte management said that they will release update, what the f*ck?! i hope someone develops 2.2 for this.
maby i just have to sell this and buy galaxy tab...
I quickly realised we have no support. We need a forum for this device.

Where did you get that info? When i bought this device from Sonera they said that 2.2 update will be available end of this year. I have searched info about 2.2 update to this device and there is none. So i decided to ask directly from ZTE and the answer is above.
I hate this situation. This device need Android 2.2 so badly.
ZTE seem to be happy releasing new devices with android 2.1!
They recently attempted to release the eclaire source for this device, but it looks like the upload failed. They have stated that the tablet uses the same kernel/chipset as the ZTE Blade phone, .29 is available for that phone but I suspect it's not upto date enough for the tablet. There are 2.2 ports for the blade phone which may port to the v9.
If you follow the instructions here http://android.podtwo.com/romdump/ to dump your ROM and upload somewhere, we might be able to see just how similar they are. Also if you can grab /proc/config.gz and upload that somewhere too.

Updates on 2.3.1!!!

I am currently on 2.3. And I was thinking of updating to 2.3.1 but can someone please explain is it safe and stable??? And pls someone explain what are the actual updates in 2.3.1 over the 2.3.0. I have heard that there is improvement in browser (like less lag in scrolling etc.) Is it as smooth as iphone? Can someone confirm it? And should i go for the update?
Cheers...
C'mon guys, can anyone here just answer my question? What are the exact changes from 2.3.0 to 2.3.1, and is it worth upgrading? Coz i will only update if there is no lag in browser after that. Coming from iphone 4 i see a significant lag in the browser otherwise the phone is quite good and lives up to the hype. A quick and thorough reply will be highly appreciated.
Also suggest me some good exclusive android apps, if possible.
really man, cmon its an official update from Google..why wouldnt you update...
All reports say that its just bug fixes and updates Google Maps to version 5.
More specifically Paul @ MoDaCo says about the update, "Super quick Nexus S OTA update (GRH78) analysis -changes to framework.jar, kernel and Maps.apk. That's about it."
That's about as specific as you're going to get short of Google publishing an official changelog.
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
Since I have updated to 2.3.1 I have a lot of apps missing from the market. I would read the thread about missing apps before I update. It is 4 days later and they are still missing.
Google has their work cut out for them; there are a slew of bugs/issues/glitches with Gingerbread. Looking forward to 2.3.2.
I am new to the Nexus line (in other words, I never owned a Nexus One); how often do these minor updates get sent out? The 2.3.x ones.
Thanks for the replies at last guys. My main concern with 2.3.1 is the bugs associated with it, like missing apps from market and stuff. And i wanted to know more about such issues before upgrading. I am new to Nexus S and even with Android as an OS. I am quite impressed with it as a platform but i must say it's not as smooth of an experience as iphone, these small glitches and bugs are quite annoying to say the least.
I think as a general rule with a vanilla Android phone, if reliability is your main concern, incremental updates are probably a good thing, but you may want to think twice about going to a new version of the OS. That's the trouble with being on the cutting edge, you're liable to get wounded. I expect it'll be several updates yet before all the kinks in Gingerbread are worked out.
My main issues with Gingerbread are the random ringtone changes, difficulty in moving app icons on the home screen, sometimes disappearing icons after attempting to move them, some scrolling lag/issues, weird gallery issues like missing photos or photos in odd orders, etc.
These are recurring issues that primarily only happen with Gingerbread - for example, I can move app icons perfectly fine with AWD.
Gingerbread needs far more bug fixed than what 2.3.1. brought.
I just got my Nexus S today and also have the missing media bug in the gallery! Twice it's happened where there'd be nothing displayed in my gallery apart from the last picture taken with the camera! Only hard restarts have solved this so far...
I've updated and not seen any problems so far.

Has Samsung promised 5.1.1 official update for Note 3?

Has Samsung announced publicly that they will upgrade Note 3 to 5.1.1 or that they will NOT do it?
Or is it all still up in the air and we have to guess what they'll do with the rest of the official Note firmware updates?
I'm aware of AOSP/CM 5.1.1 builds for Note 3, but I'm interested in the 5.1.1 Samsung official Touchwiz ROM future.
Anybody found any info / roadmap on this?
No word yet. It's been confirmed for the Note 4, Note Edge and S5, but nothing yet on the Note 3 and S4.
Samsung knows the 5.0 firmware for the Note 3 is severely broken, so they might choose to update the Note 3 to 5.1, but they might also stick to Google's 18 months/2 major updates contract and drop support for the device.
Given that they don't seem to give a **** about Note users anymore, the latter seems the most likely. They want to force us all onto the S6 Edge +.
LOL! How is 5.0 "severely broken" for Note 3?
Anyway, to OP, no, Samsung hasn't officially announced anything yet, but I believe 5.1 will come for our phones, probably in couple of months time.

Aside from the memory leaks, errors, bluetooth connectivity issues, wifi issues and battery drains?
Oh no, it's absolutely perfect. Everyone is just lying about it, that's all.
I mean, we totally don't get about 8 people a day asking us to revert their devices back to 4.4, we're just making those figures up. That's what providers and tech support people do, right?
Or did anyone really think the several months delay for the larger versions (BTU, DBT, XEF) were because Samsung forgot? No, it's because 5.0 had a lot of bugs Google left in that Samsung couldn't get fixed.
(Okay, okay, I'll stop. I should probably just go to sleep, my sarcasm seems to be overloading. I've been up for 72 hours straight, I think my brain has simply dropped all functions besides its basic survival instinct, which in my case appears to be comprised almost entirely of sarcasm. No offense meant, I am merely quite severely sleep deprived   (Also, I just noticed, on Tapatalk that emoticon is just hilarious. It's pink! Hihihihiihihihihi... )

Android 5.0 for the NOTE 3 is rubbish. Since the update i have multiple lag problems with my note 3 but the most severe is the bluetooth connectivity problems. I can`t use my smartwatches (Moto 360 and Pebble Time) anymore. They drop connection all day long, unable to reconnect, android wear saying connecting .... or displays that my Moto 360 is connected but it is not !
Android 5.0 made my life hell. My phone still thinks that is connected to my car stereo when is not, in a prone call i have to manually disable bluetooth when i leave my car so i can speak.
On Android 4.4.4 bluetooth was working perfectly. Now i`m searching a way to downgrade to Android 4.4.4 ...

Are you sure you are using 5.0 for Samsung on your Note 3, or probably on something else?
Anyway, jokes aside, really?
Memory leaks? What's that? I am dumb. Please enlighten me.
Errors? What errors?
Bluetooth connectivity? I use BT for around 6-8 hours a day, and not once my BT got disconnected!
WiFi issues? I download 3-4 GB from my phone, EVERY DAY. WiFi doesn't disconnect, not once. I however manually power off my router once every 3 or 4 days so that my ISP doesn't start to monitor my otherwise high usage at a stretch.
Battery drains? As I have said a hundred times before, battery life is much better in LP than it was on KK!
Are you sure you are not trolling?
is not just not working. I have never rooted my phone, only installed OTA updates. Android 5.0 is the worst. Tried everything, including wipe data/full reset, wipe cache, format SD card, the same bluetooth issues. Can`t use my Pebble Time .....
While it's not as bad as ShadowLea described, I do get occasional battery drains, a dreaded Camera and Gallery lag and heating up/throttling while playing intensive games (Such problems were not present in Kitkat). While the Lollipop update brought some interesting features and new much needed visual improvements the phone for me performs worse than Kitkat (but it's not that bad). Now will I downgrade? Of course not (add the fact that I don't know how xD). Let's hope that we get the 5.1.1 update or even Marshmallow (Though knowing Samsung that's a bit far fetched =P)
Just downgraded my Note 3 to Android 4.4.2 this morning. So far my Pebble Time works like a dream, no more dropped connection, no more unable cu connect, all bluetooth issues are gone.
Because i never rooted my Note 3 and downgraded to stock firmware, the downgrade process was pretty simple using ODIN.
Let's not make this "is 5.0.x" good/bad - thread. Some are having issues. Some are not. Some would like to have 5.1.1 with stagefright and other patches, regardless.
The question is: will Samsung deliver 5.1.1 (or later) for Note 3 or or will they not honour their "2 years of updates" or not. If they will. I think I'm done with Samsung for a while (esp. with Note 5 being what it is).
Yeah, Samsung made a special 5.0 ROM for me only, which doesn't give anywhere near as problems as mentioned above!
Some people just like bashing TouchWiz, however I thought those were kidzzzz only, but until now. Then they switch to some other third class OEM, get tired and come back to Samsung, and then they keep their mouth shut. That's how it generally goes.
There's no need to be so arrogant. If you're satisfied with how your phone works, doesn't mean that software works flawlessly, especially on other devices that you couldn't see. There may be some failed upgrades, software conflicts, or rare race conditions that prevent some users from enjoying their Note 3 devices.
Fortunately my experience with 5.0 on Note 3 is much better than with 5.0 on Nexus 10.
Still I couldn't see any mention of >5.0 upgrade for Note 3, which is a bit sad, especially when there are exploits out there, and it'll soon be 2 years old.
I found this post claiming 5.1.1 is coming to Note 3 according to Samsung UK. However, I'd take it with a grain of salt, as August is almost gone, still no 5.1.1 not even news about release and often the local offices in Europe do not know the final details about what the Korean giant had decided.
Galaxy Note 3 receives the Android 5.1.1 update soon

I do not troll. I have never understood what the point of trolling is. What do people find so appealing about it?
I'm simply speaking from the experience of getting far, far too many reports of problems with 5.0. That, and the fact that Samsung themselves have, repeatedly, admitted that 5.0 is extremely flawed. If the lads at Samsung's dev department tell you 5.0 is broken, it's broken.
Have I updated? Hell no. Absolutely bloody not. 5.0 has white menus, that's a no-go for me. Besides, NB7 works perfectly for me (7+ hours screen-on time!). I'm a great fan of the "If it ain't broken, don't fix it" principle.
Memory leaks are when apps use more memory than they should. So when an app that normaly uses only 50MB RAM is suddenly using 900MB RAM, when there's nothing it actually needs it for.
Wait, your ISP has a problem with 4GB a day? That's... wow. I average about 700GB a month on my laptop alone.
Not every Bluetooth connection has problems. Older Bluetooth protocols have problems, some newer ones work fine. (This is a problem from Google, not Touchwiz. Unless Nexus devices run TW these days )

Unfortunatelly, the experience of one does not equal the experience of all. If you don't have issues doesn't mean nobody else does. (Although I am very glad for you that yours works flawlessly! )
I do not bash TW. Hello, I'm on pure 100% stock. That'd be a bit hypocritical. TW works fine, it's Android 5.0 itself that is broken.
It doesn't just affect Samsung, 5.0 is malfunctioning on all devices.

LOL! All the articles are more than three four months old! Maybe there was some memory management issues on early LP releases, but that doesn't count. I don't see much problem (if any at all!) with apps closing/ restarting upon going back into them. I use a six year old Sony GV435 BT headset, LOL!
And as I said, Samsung didn't make a special ROM for me, nor I am the person who just runs a dull device without any kind of modifications! I talk half an hour a day, more mostly, with BT connected, I keep at least a dozen apps open in background, the phone is running for 18 straight days now! So as long as Samsung didn't make a special ROM me those mentioned problems/ bugs are terribly exaggerated. 50 MB app is taking 900 MB in LP. Nah, I sure don't know what trolling is, my DNA lacks that, but I am getting a sense of what trolling is, because when you are around trolls, some effects will be unknowingly pushed into oneself.

Yeah, then you report those problems in Google's community, not here. If there any problems with Lollipop then it is Google's problem, not Samsung's.
Google fixed problems in 5.1.1 this is why we wait news from Samsung. If lollipop is latest update for note 3, they should fix all the bugs.

H820 OTA Update Aug 18

E: The Unsolicited OTA Update, or Why I'm Leaving This Phone. See post 3 for details.
I got a notice that there is an update for at least the ATT 820 variant of the G5 today. I'm not going to flash it until someone else does or we have a changelog, I dont want to ruin any potential root capabilities we might be looking into at the moment. Does anyone have any information on it? Guessing it's an attempt to close up some of the QuadRooter vulnerabilities, but that's just a guess.
Any info here?
E: Contacted both LG and ATT. Supposedly it's just to enable wifi calling and nothing else, but they didn't offer a changelog or anything so I'm not going to flash it as I don't care about that functionality.
I updated for the hell of it.
3 out of 4 vulnerabilities have been patched. Along with this, I've immediately noticed they added the normal launcher with app drawer. Much nicer.
Figured I'd take one for the team on this one...so if you want root, I'd suggest blocking this update as long as possible.
Update time. So, I didn't initiate the update. I didn't want to install it at all. I look down at my phone this afternoon and it says update on progress... Nice. OK, fine whatever.
Now there's a persistent notification in the pull-down whenever you don't have mobile data enabled. And you can't get rid of it unless you turn on mobile data.
Sorry, but **** this. I'm getting rid of the phone. This is ridiculous.
Screenshot attached. Returning the phone and probably just going to get another G3 that I "upgraded" from. Pity, I liked this phone, lots of potential but I can't handle no root, bootloader lock, ads, ads, ads, ads, and persistent notifications. I just honestly don't see how anyone can handle a phone without root and adblock these days. I also can't understand how if a consumer spends $600+ for a device that they cannot do whatever they wish to it. Brick it, throw it in the ocean, root it. Imagine if computers all came with a locked administrator account. Absurd.
Lol i will never root my device, last time i did, i ****ed it up, so i am happy with my stock lg g5, i will never root anyphone
I'm also not digging the H82011K OTA as it rendered my favorite data saving app unusable.
I was very happy with my rooted/rom'ed G3 until a bad CM13 nightly fried the motherboard. Now I've been suffering the life of G5 over a month and while it's not terrible (Adguard helps) it's just not the same. I'd still like to repair that G3 someday if I ever get the time/ patience to get around to it...
Nowadays people don't root often your phones because the software is getting better. If this is your first priority, you should get something like the Oneplus 3.

Really wondering which oem (and when ?) will jump first on kernel_version 4.x with possible "Live Patching"...

As far as "Live Patching" is concerned, I hope none of them do - ever. If I wanted my devices hijacked and tampered with behind my back I'd use Windows 10. This sounds bad for freedom within the Android community (why many chose it over iOS in the first place).

Shouldn't take more than a half hour. I replaced the broken screen and digitizer on my G3 after I dropped it on its face. Pretty easy really, the hardest part of getting the screen off was just getting the adhesive separated from the screen > body. Not bad at all. The board would be easier, it comes out as a piece.
Reason I downgraded to a G5 from my G3 is because even though the replacement screen was LG branded, it still had quirks... I'd be typing something and suddenly "This is a sentence I'm typinng aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa"
Super annoying. But honestly, not as annoying as the newest G5 update + ads ads ads ads...

This is just my personal opinion and experience of the phone, im just loving the phone, it has extremely good camera that i use taking photographs in every situations, the low light photos could be better, but i think software updates can improve that part. There has not been any lagging, everything is so smooth and fast, also i havent had any problems with notifications, they work perfectly in every app i use. There are some bugs in the EMUI 5 software like font changing works only in english language etc, but i think those will be fixed in future updates. Battery life in my personal usage has been very good, usually at night time i have 25-30% battery left even i use phone very much during the day, anyway i would personally recommend this phone to anyone because it is very good phone and i just love it.
Yes, best Android experience I've had in a long time. And, I come from a long line of Samsung devices.
Thanks guys.
What about the wifi issues that many people talk about, have you encountered any bug like this?
Zero issues with Wi-Fi here, what issues are you talking about?

Best android around.
People who are after an Iphone built quality and super Android performance at 20% to 30% cheaper comparatively should go after the Mate 9 Pro .There is no similar package around.Dual sim and 128 GB plus 6 GB RAM are insuring it to be the best Android for the months to come regardless what Samsung will try to promote. That Phone is the best i had.
I also like the phone a lot ,the feature i was looking for most was great battery life on a high end device (had the S7 edge,Oneplus 3T before this one ) the battery life is amazing and this is the only phone that I do note have to charge to top up the battery during the day.
Buy it, no regrets.
that sounds promising
thanks guys for your reviews.
but don't you find it weird that there is no section dedicated for this device till now in the forum?!

Hello
Is it possible to disable the pedometer?
I now that I can hide the notification on the lockscreen, but I would like to disable it.
Regards
my only complaint with my M9Pro here in the USA is that i'm still stuck on B124. check for updates through HiCare everyday and nothing. Called Huawei customer service and they say they roll out updates by serial# but I've seen around 2 updates so far that people are on which means that Huawei CS is full of it.
I hate when updates are super delayed. I love the M9Pro but I'm really missing my Nexus 6P because of this one issue. The lack of current security updates and such is nerve racking

Here is the solution

Install huawei Firmware finder and read the details
Actually that's relieving. I was worried about the updates too.
Do you have any idea if we can root it and if it's safe?
as i remeber rooting marshmallow devices was affecting their performance and disabled certain apps in samsung devices

While I do know of this method and appreciate your assistance, the point I was trying to make was that getting updates shouldn't require us to jump through external hoops. The manufacturer needs to make updates more easily accessible and if they know they can't do that because of all the customizations they implement then they should consider just using stock android and build their proprietary apps to be Play Store downloadable and simply put restrictions that limits those apps to be installed on certain phones.
Why not just get the China version, works flawlessly on US networks + you get the updates.
U can delete the fitness app
sorry if this is the wrong place to post this..
I am looking to get the mate 9 pro
Are any of you on Tmobile in the USA, and, do you get 4G/LTE?
The reseller I have been emailing with on Amazon says you do NOT get 4GLTE on Tmobile in the USA with this phone, but I have read that you do.
Thanks if you can help with this! :good::good:
