I seem to be unable to successfully flash ROMs on my phone...
I am not sure what's going on.
Yes, I am rooted. Yes, I am flashing ROMs made for my phone, and flashing the appropriate firmware to match the ROM. Yes, I perform a clean flash by wiping everything first.
I have tried wiping cache/dalvik after flashing, still no luck. I have tried not flashing gapps, still nothing...
No matter what I do, it never boots. I sit at the Verizon screen for hours on end.
Any ideas?

Never heard of this. You might have flashed the wrong thing. We don't flash gapps with our Roms. Start over by using Odin to flash a full stock tar of NGC and root again.
I'll give it a try later. Thanks.

If you're on NK2 then most of the Roms I read you flashed won't work on that build. After you flash a ROM built for OC4, like FreedomROM for example, you need to Odin over the OC4 firmware (which includes modem and kernel) to the device otherwise Roms won't start. Same thing goes for everyone other ROM with the firmware except it has to be for the respective build.

Yeah, I've got that all figured out now. Never really had to do that with any other phones I've had, it was always just flash and go, never really messing with different firmware and whatnot. I have since tested 4 different ROMs and they have all flashed with success..
Thanks
Can a mod please mark this thread as answered/closed ? I got it all figured out. Thanks.

I've been searching for the stock kernal for at&t users for s bit now, can't find it I'm trying to fix the annoying "updating camera firmware, please wait..." message. Unless there's a better way, I'll just assume you have to flash the sock kernal to update it. But if you flash the sock Kernal, wouldn't the phone fail on boot?

No, I'm running Wanamlite v1.0.
I just reinstalled the stock AT&T rom to allow the camera to update, but when I ran the camera, no update appeared. So I figured it was all set. After re-rooting, I re-installed Wanamlite and KT kernal, open up the camera, and sure enough the message re-appears. I didn't perform any wipes. But it looks like I'll have to because all the AT&T bloatware was re-installed again.

Your mistake was reinstalling Wanamlite again. Here's how you install non AT&T ROMs
1. Root your phone. I used the one click TWRP and Loki method.
2. Factory Reset and install custom ROM.
3. Install AT&T kernel. Let it boot up. Open Camera.
4. Reboot to recovery. Install custom kernel. Wipe cache and Dalvik. Fix Permissions.
5. Reboot. All done.

Exactly, its nice he can recommend installing a stock kernel, but they are not to be found. I asked in another thread and didn't get an answer. I somehow got it to work just wiping and installing Omega 5.0 Then to get wifi to work I installed ktoonez kernel.

okay, assuming you're using the AT&T variant, I did this:
I got the looping "installing camera firmware" and tried faux an ktoonsez with no luck
I flashed this tmobile stock kernel and the camera firmware updated successfully by going into the camera app.
I then just flashed faux kernel back and everything worked great.

I use shabbypenguin's auto loki CWM recovery, but you'll have to definitely flash the loki patch after the tmo kernel to make this work.

I've always used Teamepic root and then flashed my rom, that didn't work with the S4, at least for me.... I couldn't get into recovery.
So I tried many other ways, every way I have found on the internet and if it's not one thing it's another. SSU will either say binary not available or when I am installing from recovery (cfroot) it says install aborted. I've flashed to the stock rom so many times since yesterday I'm about to go nuts, but nothing will get this phone rooted, please help!

Do I have to wipe the phone again and reinstall the stock firmware first?
Just got my note 3 yesterday and I am no stranger to rooting, roms and everything in between. However I've never owned a Samsung phone before either so I need some help. I've been reading through the forums but things are still a bit fuzzy. I am assuming my phone is on nc4 according to what my settings say. 4.4.2. I rooted using towel root and such is up and running. Safe strap installed. I have also downloaded Odin and a stock 4.4.2 system image file for a restore if need be. Now do I need to flash a nc2 kernel before I flash any roms? How is that done? And my model is smn900v. Which is OK to flash miui for smn900 models right? V just meaning Verizon correct? Thanks for any and all help!

Okay, I'm assuming you're on NC4 since you used Towelroot. You can flash roms but since the bootloader is locked no CM, AOSP, AOKP or Miui as far as I know. No custom kernels yet either so don't try to run any apps that change the governor or CPU frequencies. It may happen in time but not yet...:fingers-crossed:
Beans has a guide here and roms in this link read the first two posts : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2787627
Modems, you're on the NC4 modem but we can change modems even though our bootloader is locked. You flash them in Odin. Put your phone in download mode and flash the modem in the ap slot. Modems can be found here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=47400062&postcount=1
You may want to stay on the NC4 modem. I took the NC2 leak from 4.3 and that modem didn't work well for me at all. I'm on NC2 with the NC4 modem. Modems depend on your phone and your location. Some people haven't seen a difference in NC2 vs NC4, some people went all the way back to the MJE modem. It's something you have to try for yourself but if your signal is good then leave it.
You put on safestrap so you're good there. Don't even try clockwork mod or rom manager. Safestrap is cool in the fact that you have rom slots. You can put roms in different slots and switch back and forth with wiping and reflashing. Kinda like dual booting your computer with OS X and bootcamp or Windows and Linux. Right now the rom slots work but people have had battery issues using anything but the stock rom slot so for right now use the stock rom slot and it's like old school flashing, there can be only one for now (Highlander reference). As of right I wouldn't dirty flash anything make sure it's a clean wipe.
Next, the rom you chose to use is pure personal preference, they're all good just make sure you read the OP and browse the threads to get an idea. If you get stuck just post a question. The crowd for the Note 3 has been the most courteous and helpful since I've been on XDA.
Welcome to the funhouse!!!
Thank you again. Any more questions I'll post em here.

You should be fine, alot of the bootloops come from being on Nc2 and hitting reboot to recovery on the power menu. There's a fix for it but I just haven't done it yet. If safestrap is on and working properly just reboot your phone and wait for the safestrap screen and hit the recovery button. If you bootloop hitting reboot to recovery just pull the battery. Reboot to download mode and reboot to system from there.

Just tried biggins rom in slot 1 after making a backup and it hung after Safe strap boot screen. Had to pull battery and switch back to stock slot and reboot. Something isn't right....

Did you use the nc2 firmware package in his OP? Also in reading his Op he says flash it in the stock rom slot. Even though Hashcode has working rom slots I still think they're not functioning like they should.

I'm using Koontz TW Kernel currently. But the CM zip file should contain the new CM Kernel. ?

Yes, from Ablinoman887 and official cm 11, KLTEVZW. I did flash the KLTE version and it didn't fail but it bootlooped. However I did flash fusion 4.4.4 for KLTEVZW and its working great.

Right, but how did you flash it? With ODIN? or use TWRP to flash it? The link only provides a .img file and if I tar it ODIN wont flash it, not sure if I am doing something wrong with tarring it or if the img isnt setup to be flashed by ODIN.
Thanks, for your help

Hello all,
I have an ATT i537. I do the Towelroot, then flash Securestrap, have tried Goldeneye, Samy, Hyperdrive, and others. I tried flashing the GT Kernel, I've tried leaving the stock kernel per Aroma installer, even the ATT Modules, but after every flash. No Wifi. I restore my ROM to factory via Odin. Wifi works.
Can anybody chime in on whats going on?
Thanks
Sounds like a firmware/baseband/OS mismatch. Make sure to flash ROMs that are the same version as your baseband/firmware.

You can't flash custom kernels with this phone. I hate to break it to you, but the i537 has a locked bootloader.

For Wifi to work you need to flash the RIL files and modem files for i537. That will fix your issue. NO Matter whichever ROM you flash there are few things you will always need which MUST be model specific - those are (1) Bootloader, (2) RIL Files and (3) Modem; also at times (4) Stock Kernel - however the last one i.e. Stock Kernel is at times compulsory or optional - depends.
Correctly flash (Afresh) the working ROM for i537 and once all is finished instal i537 specific STOCK RIL Files and STOCK Modem and check - if that does not fix - flash STOCK KERNEL - of course all assuming that you have flashed right Bootloader (BL) right in the beginning of the whole process.
Hope above helps
