how to root sm-t530nu with boe5 firmware - Galaxy Tab 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have galaxy tab10.1 sm-t530nu with firmware t530nuueu1ank1 and rooted using cf root. But now i have upgraded to firmware t530nuueu1boe5 and my root is gone . How do I get the root again on android 5.0.2 firmware boe5. Can I follow the previous cf-auto root method/ samefile again.

Maybe but just flash the TWRP tar file (matissewifi) with Odin and then in TWRP flash the latest superSU .zip file and you should be fine

Hi, I just rooted my tab using the same old method of Odin & cf-autoroot file. I had no Problems time now.

Would you please confirm it was build number T530NUUEU1BOE5 that you had when using the CF method? Just got my tablet last week and want to be careful. Much appreciated.

Here is how you root lollipop. I was made to understand cf auto root won't work properly with lollipop

I replied yesterday but it seems to have been sent to the bit bucket. There are three different .tar files for TWRP, but there does not seem to be a clear differentiation between them. Would I need the one without the 3g/lte since I only have WIFI? My apologies for seeming paranoid, just don't want to brick it. Thank you very much!

openrecovery-twrp-2.8.6.0-matisse_wifi_3g_lte.tar. Don't touch the one with t355 in the name, and the 2.8.7.0 tar file seems to be malfunctioning for now.
Update: I can confirm both of the following: the 2.8.6.0 tar file is working, the 2.8.70 tar file is not working.
Matisse is the development code name for all tab 4 10.1 variants. T355 is a different tablet altogether, don't touch that file

Worked like a champ! Very much appreciated!

[Q] New S4, Tried to Root, Bricked, Have New 1

I'm looking for re-inforcement here:
After MUCH reading, searching here and the net, I tried Motochopper, which failed, then went to CF-Root, these very shaky old hands instead of clicking on the file for the L720, clicked on the file for 900.
Bricked it.
Sprint gave me a new one (didn't even have it a day), reinstalled FoxFi and can tether USB/Bluetooth, but not WiFi which I need for the Tablet.
Now I'm gun shy.
It would seem that there are 10-15 methods, but CF-Root seems the best and NOW I have the file for the L720.
I've an S4,
Software: L720VPUAMF9
Build: JD939.L720VPAMDL
S/W Boot Status: Samsung
Kernel: 2.4.0-529760 - Dated 4.27.2013
Can someone reinforce which method is the least prone to problems? I'm not that interested in flashing ROM's, just want the WiFi Tether.
Thanks in advance and for those who feel the need to tell me search/been discussed/look etc.,I have A LOT.

Didn't see it the sticky, probably bleary.
So CF-Root (with the PROPER files seems to be the way to go.
Thanks for the reply, it's a bit different then a pad, if you screw up the pad, your not out your only phone - just a pad (BUT not to downplay the cost).

I'd just Odin a rooted rom... it's way easier than using a root method, and as a bonus, you'll get familiar with the most powerful recovery method for your phone! It'll even fix most bricks!

Use the one that matches your version. I think you can go to settings > More > about phone and see if it's mdl or MF9

I thought about that, but I'm relatively contented with the stock software/firmware. If there were a simple ROM, I might do it. I like the idea of - maybe- TWRP - but really only need/want to tether WiFi and add a firewall.
What'dya think?
AND why would it be easier?

It is an MDL but I didn't see a different file for the 720, just the 900 if it's a MDL or MF9 (foreign, I believe)?

Not sure if you have ventured out to try it again, but if not you'll find all your answers here.

Just do the OTA updates on your phone. Should be two of them at this point, one to MDL, then when it is done to MF9. After you see MF9, do CF autoroot. Then install TWRP as your recovery, followed by the HotSpot. Just do what the videos show and you'll be fine.
I think I did exactly what you did. I got my new phone and tried to install the HotSpot while on MDC (whatever original version was), after doing CF autoroot. Failed to read the part about HotSpot being specifically for MF9. Used Odin to reverse back to stock Rom and Recovery and ten followed steps I outlined from there. Phone is working awesome and WiFi is best I've seen. Barely uses battery.
I used the qbking77 videos from youtubes and was rooted with twrp recovery in 5 minutes tops it's the best way to do anything. To see it get done step by step is the best way for me.
For wifi tether several roms got it built in already.

Yeah, I'm sure flashing a stock ROM would work fine. It's unlocking the bootloader and being able to flash custom/AOSP roms that I'm looking forward to. :silly:

New firmware for SGHI337

I have an unlocked SGH - I337UCUAMDL running on 4.2.2. I tried updating it OTA but it failed. I am assuming it was because it is unlocked.
Is there an alternate version of this that I can download and flash through Odin?

If you have mdl why do you want to upgrade the firmware? You currently can use twrp and flash roms based on 4.4.2. If you upgrade with Odin or ota you'll lose that ability for ever.

1. Rootable is just that, you'll be able to root it using towelroot. The normal nb1 is not rootable. The nc1 firmware is rootable with towel root too. So you could flash the non-rootable, then ota to nc1 and root it
2. If you're sim unlocked flash with Odin will not lock it.

[Q] i337 4.4.4 Rooted. How to Unroot and return to factory

I saw a thread on how to unroot s4 on 4.4.4, but I can't find it anywhere. Kingroot and su are two different forms of root, in this case flashfire is asking for su(super user) so you need to root with superuser, the old way, flashing from Odin the necessary files for acquire root, then flashfire will work.
Couldnt i just install su as a sys app for same effect? Does mobile odin work on this devic3
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G530AZ using XDA Free mobile app
It won't work I think, because you need all the related files that super su needs for work. Take a look on the thread root by Mohan, there's must be some answers related to cricket variant and root.
Grand prime on cricket doesnt appear anywhere. Ive read just about every forum. Since cricket is owned by att could i use the att stuff

Download kies 3 on your PC, put your phone into download mode, plug your phone in, in the upper corner of kies go to firmware upgrade and ininliaztion or something like that, put in the model, put in your serial number, and just contuine with the process. It took me a couple tries, it failed for some odd reason the first couple times but eventually it started working and I got back to stock 5.1.1

I'm new to Samsung devices and therefore Kies and Odin. Are Samsungs essentially unbrickable, then, since you can flash back to stock using Samsung's tools?
I unwittingly attempted to root a SM-G530AZ (Cricket) running Lollipop 5.1.1 with Kingroot and bricked the phone when it rebooted. "Custom" was displayed on the boot up screen and the phone was locked with an exclamation point in a yellow triangle. It told me to contact the service provider for assistance.
What is the procedure to undo that goof up?

i have try everything on the web and fail.root will be obtain by kingroot but bricks on reboot.
