Dynamic white lines and static black lines on the screen. - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

As the title mentions it started with 3 static black lines on the very left of the screen (after a hard fall) and now almost 3 days after that I have almost 5 % of the left side of the screen permanently black and occasionally many white or colorful lines everywhere on the screen which they come and go randomly. I just wanted to ask if replacing the screen would fix this or if it could be that the gpu is malfunctioning. I don't want to spend all that money and effort for a new screen then realise that it was for nothing. Thanks in advance!

Vertical line of dead pixels

So now i'm truly dissapointed! Just found out my (2 month) Note has a entire vertical line of dead pixels that weren't there yesterday... Strange thing is that it only appears with some colors like red or blue. Isn't visible with white or gray backgrounds colors... I tried with *#0*# and the black line its pretty visible only in blue and red test screens.Tomorrow i'll take the shop where i bought it.

How it ended? I found the same problem!
I had this issue after the same amount of time. I sent it back to O2 they have replaced it with a brand new one.

dead pixel?

So I have my N4 for a few days now and I'm reading the yellow screen thread and it made me paranoid so I cranked my brightness up to max (usually just have it auto), open a white webpage looking for yellow crap on the screen didn't see any yellowing but I did see pink pixel on the upper left corner of the notification bar. But the weird thing is that once I pull the notification bar down it would slowly fade, if I pull it down all the way the pink pixel would be black. Can someone check to see if their do the same thing or I just have a dead pixel.
The hunt is on. I'm really sorry about your case, but I hope your mobile is the exception:fingers-crossed:
It a common problem with LCD tech. Many refer to it a stuck pixels... they don't usually go away on there own in my experience

How many people have this screen problem?

If you put the phone on lower brightness or auto-brightness, do you see faint vertical and horizontal "streaks" of discoloration or shading? It's especially apparent in the dark, and on grey backgrounds. My phone has this exact problem, and I tried taking it to a Verizon store to exchange it and they refused, because the two S4's on display had similar issues (although less apparent). So either this is a very common problem on the S4 or I'm just incredibly unlucky. Would like to hear from other Galaxy S4 owners to see how widespread this really is.

My issue isn't smearing, it's permanent, faint vertical and horizontal streaks or lines.

Strange, my S4 doesn't has.. But my old GNexus had vertical lines visible only with white or green background.
I think is lucky.. If you can, change it or ask to technical assistance Samsung for display change..
I am also having same issue in my note2

I've only seen this happening within CWM when flashing new ROMs to my phone.
All my screens had it (I had it changed five times for various other issues).
Mine seems to be fine...

Yup I have it too. The store are refusing to give me a replacement

try to test the screen first.
Go to Dial Keypad and enter the code below:
*#0*#
Test your screen by dimming and check if lines would show clearer.

How were you able to convince them to change it that many times? All within the 14 days?

I didn't get a 1-1. Went to the service centre. First time it was an issue with the sound crackling but somehow they changed the screen when they shouldn't (and I still hate them for it).
The replaced screen had a greenish blotch in the middle, so back it went.
Third had two dead pixels so I sent it back.
Fourth they replaced on the spot for it had a big piece of dust inside the screen.
Fifth has a small speck of dust under the screen which they refused to change for me in the end.
Still quite a bummer that five screens later I still ended up with a less-than-perfect screen. But I just gave up and it doesn't affect me too much nowadays.
I have the same problem.

I'm having the same problem as well..
That's unfortunate. I haven't experience that on mine and hopefully never will. Possibly just a faulty device.
Ive vertical lines really bsd!

Yup, I have this issue too on my international S4 (GT-I9500). This only happens with grey. The screen tests for red, green and blue are perfect. And they're only usually visible in the dark. Best way to show them the problem is to search 'solid grey' on Google Images, save one of them and show them the image on full screen in the dark. After seeing that, it'll be pretty much impossible to deny that it is a problem. I took it to service and got a screen replacement under warranty, but it didn't help. Still has those stupid lines. Most apparent in the dark on solid gray. I'm taking it back to the store on Monday, if they replace the handset and that fixes it, I'll get back to you.
Me too
I think this is another variant of the smudges that are apparent in amoled screens sometimes. Search Google for lines in amoled displays or something similar. There's loads of threads talking about the same thing.
At any rate, it seems to just be luck of the draw as to how bad it is, or if you even get it at all.
At least, if you have them, they don't worsen over time, and any phones that are made with amoled screens can get them. I have two lines myself. I've just gotten used to it really. Don't see them now, unless I look hard for them.

Help identify problem with screen

Hi! I recently had an accident with my Nexus 4. I dropped it from a coffee table, less than half meter high, and the touch screen stopped responding at the first half centimeter of the top.... I couldn't swipe the status bar down... Etc....
My home insurance took care of it and a technician replaced it with another screen.
I see some strange shadows now with the new screen, mostly on clear images..... More if it's just white. Not noticeable at all on black or dark images... See the attachments to get an idea.
Of course, I'm going to demand another replacement to my insurance and complain about the current result, but I guess maybe someone could tell me which could be the reason for this happening.... Bad screen or assembly screw-up by the tech crew?

Visible Digitizer?

Hello, I just bought this phone, and I noticed some horizontal lines and dots on display. It is visible on direct sunlight even if is screen turned off. It not noticeable a lot but i can see it. So I just wanted to ask if that normal or I'm again got phone with defect screen. Because previously i have S7 and Edge Plus with some screen issue...
It is like that on the most phones. Nothing to worry about.

It's not that badgering me but it's noticeable and i just wanted to ask if anyone have same issue. Do you have any lines on your phone?

So, do you have any lines on your phone?
Can someone please tell me if he has or not these lines visible on his phone?
Yes, in my case I see horizontal lines if I set low brightness in a place with some light, or with a light directly pointing at the screen. In my nexus 5 the lines were more noticeable. Nothing to worry.

Just one more question, can you see a tiny horizontal lines when you indoor, on white or gray background on display? You need to look closely to see them...
