[Q] help me!!! Verizon s5 in UK! - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, I currently have a Verizon galaxy s5 with a Three UK SIM, I can access 3g and make calls without a problem BUT my problem is I cannot access 4g data or even send any text messages! I've searched high and low for solutions but have not found anything.
I have managed to troubleshoot the text messaging problem and have discovered that I cannot send anybody a text message when there is a 44 (UK) in front of their number. Which is very annoying as I would have to change people's numbers all the time.
I also have another question that I cannot find an answer for; would it be at all possible to install another firmware (different model number) so that it basically turns my phone into a English handset instead of an American one? or maybe install a custom firmware to remove the original origin of the phone?
I hope this makes sense to you guys as I must have read a zillion websites today, I think my head is about to explode!

You already made a thread about this exact issue

Strange Caller ID Problem

I have recently updated my T-Mobile Touch Plus to the official 6.1 Rom and since doing so have a funny problem when receiving a call, the callers number isnt displayed even when they are in my contacts.
The device doesnt seem capable of realizing that numbers that start +447 are the same as 07, one fix would be to update all my contacts phone numbers and remove the international dialing part but my SMS messaging would then not work as at present it displays the names correctly.
Has anyone got a fix for this?
Cheers
Kev
I've had this problem for a couple of weeks since T-Mob updated mine and I agree, it seems to be related to the international format of numbers.
I have emailed T-Mob customer services to see if they can do anything and if I hear anything back, I will post here.
In the meantime, I was thinking of having a poke around the registry
I'll keep you updated
Cheers,
Smiffy.
Problem Solved
a bit of googling today and I have found the solution it is due to a registry setting that (on my device) was trying to match 12 digits of the number, for the UK this needs to be changed to 10.
here is the link:

Nice one - but I don't really want it fixing - I want T-Mobile to admit defeat and swap it for a G1 for me
Failing that, I will put it in place though ;-)
I knew it would be something like that
Cheers!
Smiffy.
Just got a used T-Mobile MDA Touch Plus and it was running the original WM6 so I updated it via T-Mobile UKs site to WM6.1 and since then I've developed the missing name problem on my texts.
I've tried changing the callerID thread in the registry and it's done nothing.

Still impossible to send sms

I just bought my htc HD2 and upgrader to official rom 1.62, i think, released from last january, then i had this bug for sending sms. i upgraded the radio, twice, 2 versions, no way,
used the official rom, then three roms of the best cookers her, thanks to them for all the work
But, no way to send the sms, i receive instead something from my operator telling that i'm using a bad adress, something like that.
I read all around the site, and this seems to affect just some users.
but from another side, someone with the same issue desactivated the sms function with shap's utility, and solved it.
i don't know what to do, please help, is this a hardware issue?
have you tried getting the settings resent from your network provider?
It's not the normal sms bug you have. You have a problem with the settings.
Contact your provider and ask for the sms settings.
Or visit the a shop that have this provider and the HD2 and ask for help.
Thanks for the replay.
When i started with the phone, with Orange france, i think i was able to send some messages. but then i updated to several roms to hope resolve the problem. i'm receiving areplay from the provider just after sending every sms saying 'your message can't be treated else you have no credit, or you use a destination non authorized!!!!"
i cheked the parameter for the server provider, it's ok. nothing wrong on this side. Really strange to buy a handset 550$ and to be without sms function, i regret really having sold the Iphone 3Gs, at least i could do the basic things.
As I wrote, it is NOT the sms bug that is making problems on your phone.
Because with the SMS bug, the SMS never left the phone.
If you get a message from the provider, then it is the provider making problems, not the phone.
So either the telephone nr is wrong, or the settings or some strange thing in the ROM when used with your provider.
I suggest you test with another SIM card. Borrow a SIM card from a friend to test. Test both with the same provider and a different provider just to find out. Also, if you post what provider you use, maybe someone here can help U with correct settings.
But I agree there have been to many bugs on this phone. I had much less problems with the Touch HD, but HD2 is so much faster that i prefer the HD2.
U should also contact your provider with this problem since they are making the problem.
You are right!
Here is what i did.
i have another sim card from another provider, i switched the two sim from the two phones, and when i use the new sim hd2 configure automatically the settings. then i send the message from the HD2 to other handset with the faulty sim-provider-config or whatever. the message is delivered in 2seconds! so definetely strange thing here.
I cheked the setting - number for sms server, it's ok. back with my principal sim on hd2, and again no way to send the sms. really strange!!!
thanks anyway for the good help. i appreciate

[Q] Unable reply to SMS

HI,
I bought my S4 earlier this week and found that I had been sent a US Verizon model SCH-I545 - I live in the UK.
It is entirely my fault, I bought the phone from a very reputable seller on Ebay for an excellent price, but failed to see the small print to state what model would be sent (on googling found these all to be US network models).
I have had no issues with the phone - once I managed to change all the settings over - I can access data and send and receive calls, however the only issue remaining is the most annoying!
I can send a text message, I can receive a text message, but I can't reply to one! I assume it is to do with the SMS settings and the fact that a +44 is added to the number I reply to, but I can't figure out if I can change it and how to change it.
Any help or suggestions will be gratefully received - thanks in advance.

Need help. Unlocked in Australia - No SMS

So I've been searching and searching but haven't been able to find a solution.
I called Sprint before I left and they actually unlocked my phone without any issues.
Got to Australia and got a SIM card.
Changed my Network Mode to Global (GSM + CDMA)
everything seemed to be working but SMS will not send. When I receive SMS they always have +61.
So I dug a little deeper and noticed in About - Status my phone number is still my old number from the states. As is my MIN number.
Forgot to mention I'm on CM10.1.
Someone help me please!
Service code? reflash TW ROM and update profile?
What's my move here guys? I've been messing around for hours and getting no where.

Cant send texts, cant find smsc number setting

So a week ago my phone stopped sending texts and at the same time started putting US area codes in front of all my numbers. I managed to get the area code thing to stop by turning off assisted dialing. Then I went looking for the sms centre number to see if that got messed up as well. But there is no sms centre option in the message setting menu. Any ideas?
My phone is G900V unlocked, rooted with Safestrap and SuperSu. Android 4.4.4 stock NK2. I am using a non-verizon simcard in Kenya, and texts had been working fine for the last year with the same sim card. I receive texts just fine.
Edit: I guess what I'm asking is:
1. How can I edit the sms centre number on a stock G900V
OR
2. If I switch to to a custom rom like Alliance, will I be able to set the sms centre number?
I'm having a similar problem. Only I run MOAR on my Verizon s5 and I have a TIM simcard in, as I live in Italy. I know this is an old thread but maybe a bump will help. I dled advanced signal status and tried that way, with the TIM smsc number, but that didn't seem to help.
