I have the N900 octa core version with build number MK2
1) Basic question..which would be the best way to root? Any uproot options yet? Does rooting trip knox counter?
2)Flash a custom recovery...which one? I'm guessing via odin...does this trip knox?
3) Custom ROMs via the recovery
4) What sort of theming can be done? I have heard of xposed or such but have no idea how to install or use it...need help here.
5) I'm not planning to uninstall any "bloatware"..
6) Any danger to phone by bricking or such?
7) Anything else that can be done?
Thanks a lot folks ,
PS don't mind so many questions im new to all this

Any firmware from MJ3 onwards cannot be rooted without tripping Knox status...
Options:
1) Just go ahead and trip Knox status
2) Wait for some developers to come up with another way to root without tripping Knox
3) Buy another phone with MJ1 or below firmware!
And there's always danger of bricking your phone so you must be prepared to take the risk. Good luck!
Hi,
I installed an Samsung Firmupdate this week, my build is N9005XXUENB4.
How can I root this firmware? I saw that the Vega root is not working with this newest build.

Just to let you know, note 3 n9005 is otherwise called note 3 LTE, anything with 5 at the end like i9305, i9505, is the LTE variant.
Coming to question of root, that method will work, its called CF-auto root and the latest package can be downloaded from
http://download.chainfire.eu/352/CF-Root/CF-Auto-Root/CF-Auto-Root-hlte-hltexx-smn9005.zip
But this will void your warranty as KNOX counter will get tripped to 0x1.
Having said that anybody who is on 4.4.2(any version), if they were not rooted before, will get KNOX 0x1 (warranty Void), if they try to root.

This should be stickied somewhere, because as someone who is still within the first 24 hours of reading about this device, it is not clear at all.
I just got a Note 3 that is still on 4.3 Jelly Bean, Kies is telling me to update as follows:
Current firmware version : PDA:MJ7 / PHONE:MJ7 / CSC:MJ1 (VIA)
Latest firmware version : PDA:NB4 / PHONE:NB1 / CSC:NB1 (VIA)
I am trying to find out if I can do this safely or not, at the moment my Note 3 is stock out of the box.
If what you write is right, then I should NOT update using Kies now, but root first, if my goal is to keep Knox warranty 0x0.
But how, if chainfires method is also triggering it?
If I had root I could use Mobile Odin and that doesn't trigger Knox?
I have spent several hours reading the subforums for the Note 3 as of now, it's still not clear, I think some more things need to be stickied and updated.
What would the best steps be from MJ7 stock?

You will trip Knox unless you're firmware is MJ1 or lower... You have been warned...

That needs to be stickied somewhere too! For newbies to this device, it takes hours to find this info.

Not really, if you are looking up ways to root without tripping Knox then you generally stumble across the URDLV thread and it has this in BIG RED letters across the top... URDLV was a sticky in Original Developement forum...
AFAIK the only way to root 4.4.2 is to downgrade it to 4.3 before MJ4 then root it using URDLV method. Here's a site on how this can be done.
http://www.thebitbag.com/root-your-...ut-tripping-samsung-knox-security-suite/73295
Disclaimer : I have not try this method and not responsible if you brick your phone.
As others have posted, there's currently no method to reset the Knox counter once it is tripped. The bounty is still out: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=52095753#post52095753

AFAIK aside from N900W8, you cannot downgrade 4.4.2 to 4.3.
So i was reading through the forums and attempted to root my phone until I got into this knox security feature.
So samsung can see if we rooted our devices even if we revert to the stock bootloader and firmware? Bastards!
Is there any safe way to root the device without triggering the knox counter? And maybe an easy step by step guide or friendly toolkit?
Thanks!

Hello Galaxy S4 users.
I recently bought a Galaxy S4 Black Edition.
After going through all Knox and warranty related posts I was not able to make up my mind to root.
So I called up the Samsung Customer Care for clarifying my doubt's.
The representative cleared that Knox has nothing to do with warranty(at least on India) and even if the counter increases to 1 warranty will not be lost.
Only if device status is unofficial then only we loose warranty and flashing stock firmware through Odin resets it to official(telling through personal experience with Tab 3 on 4.2.2)
I have no intention of using Knox and so want to root it.
Yet I would like to know if there is any method to root 4.4.2 without increasing the counter.
Thanks in advance.

You can use 'towelroot' by geohot for rooting 4.4.2 firmware without tripping KNOX.

I already tried that.
Both version 1 and 2.
where as version 2 is said to root without rebooting the device yet my S4 gets rebooted but it doesn't gets rooted.

The firmware installed on your S4 is not compatible yet.. what version do you have?
NC1

You can try to ask on the official towelroot thread if anyone has successfully got it working on that firmware.. or instead, you can email geohot for help
I saw a post on android central and a guy said he was able to root his note 3 with out tripping knox, he said that it didn't trip because he didn't flash a custom rom, and since SuperSU promps you if you want to disable knox when you download it. So my question is do you need a custom rom to root the galaxy s8 and does SuperSU actually stop knox from tripping?
Here is the link to that forum post that I saw:

Bro it was the first knox now it's smarter. You flash something that is not Samsung and your warranty is gone.
