Can you root the Galaxy s8 without voiding knox warranty? - Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions and Answers

I saw a post on android central and a guy said he was able to root his note 3 with out tripping knox, he said that it didn't trip because he didn't flash a custom rom, and since SuperSU promps you if you want to disable knox when you download it. So my question is do you need a custom rom to root the galaxy s8 and does SuperSU actually stop knox from tripping?
Here is the link to that forum post that I saw:

Thank you in advance if I don't respond. :good:

Bro it was the first knox now it's smarter. You flash something that is not Samsung and your warranty is gone.

Root BML1 Without tripping KNOX flag

Hello Everyone.
I have Samsung Galaxy S4 mini i9192
Ver. BML1.
Today i rooted it without tripping Knox with help of XDA member drnag.
All credits to him i'm just sharing What i did.
First Download Kingo app from their website (Google it)
Then install it and run.
You should be connected to internet in pc the connect your mobile to pc with debugging mode.
Click root.
After sometime it will ask that "Kingo will now root device by installing custom recovery...."
Click ok.
Now you device will restart in odin.
and it will be rooted.
:good::good:
This Worked for me but i dont know about other's devices. Try at your own risk.
Congrats and thank you. I just passed the information. I'm not a developer. Credit to great developers. And this is discussed in other threads.

Hey, the part where Kingo says, it will root device by installing custom recovery, it also categorically mentions that your device warranty willl be voided. And everywhere I've read it says, that the knox is tripped whenever a custom recovery is installed.
Are you sure that on bml1, the knox does not get tripped when installing custom recovery from kingo, given that kingo itself claims voiding warranty?
Yes rooted it quite a few times. It flashes the recovery as keyboard or other system software.

[Q] Question about root

Hi guys, I've bought my new galaxy note 3 two days ago and I want to root it.
I've carefully read almost everything about root and knox, but some things are still obscure to me.
My note is running on Android 4.3
AP on N9005XXUDNK2
CP on N9005XXUDBJ7
CSC on MK2
According to the URDLV thread, I can't root AND keep my knox to 0x0
so my questions are:
There is any other way to root and keep my knox to 0x0 ?
If not, and if I still want root my phone, there is any advantage to use ROOT de la Vega instead of the cf-auto-root or any other way ?
(The cf way seem to be easier and faster)
Thank a lot for your help and sorry for my english :/

Both URDLV and mobile odin cannot root without tripping knox with your phone bootloader.
Cf auto root is much easier. That's the advantage.
So, let's root with CF
and I hope someone will manage to find how to reset the knox. I'll add some $ to the bounty.
After rooting, will still be able to use OAT update ?

Yes, RDLV will not trip your Knox, CF root does, correct me if I'm wrong. Once Knox is tripped, no OTA.

Just now i flash back official firmware. No rooting, no custom recovery, still my phone status shows custom. So i think as long as you trip knox it will always show custom regardless if you're using stock or custom rom. However wanam exposed can revert it to official but not sure if OTA will work or not since no other update for my country but it does show 'your device is up to date' thing when i tried to update through OTA. So i guess it will work

Ok, thank for your answers
One last question. I guess I'll not be able to use the installed app KNOX after the flag switched to 0x1 ?

Nope once the flag is 0x1 no knox (for now).

new to note3, what is this knox thing and how can i safely root the device?

So i was reading through the forums and attempted to root my phone until I got into this knox security feature.
So samsung can see if we rooted our devices even if we revert to the stock bootloader and firmware? Bastards!
Is there any safe way to root the device without triggering the knox counter? And maybe an easy step by step guide or friendly toolkit?
Thanks!

Without tripping Knox ? What do you mean with this ?
I just recently rooted my Galaxy Note 3 N9005 with Odin 3.09 and CF-Auto-Root-hlte-hltexx-smn9005.tar.md5
No problem with Knox, allthough it intervenes when starting the SuperSU

I was in an impression that I can still unroot this, without too much of hassle?
(Last time I checked, it showed 0x0)

It's not possible for your Knox flag to show 0x0 after flashing CF-Auto-Roo. As soon as you flash unsigned images to your Note 3, it'll trip knox and you may lose your warranty.

Take a look here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...oot-root-xxufnf4-stock-firmware-knox-t2840150
it takes 5 minutes, including reading OP, downloading and flashing
towelroot
go google for towelroot and download it! install as apk, simple and easy:good:

You're right it seems :silly:
However I don't find this very offensive, as I offcourse accepted the risk before rooting. Allthough, I wish I'd have read more about which bloat I shouldn't have removed... that damn MagazineHome.apk is really pain in the ass. After I deleted it, --> stock email FC every time new message comes... and what really sucks, I was unable to restore or install MyMagazine or MagazineHome.apk (with or without .odex) to get rid of this annoying crash messages.
Not sure yet why I was unable to reinstall those... is there different versions of them on Verizons Note 3 than in my galaxy note 3 n9005 ?
And one thing I havent yet learned is, whether the Knox is avoiding me from doing these restores or managing to reinstall those properly? (help anyone?! please )

No Custom ROM Available for J5 just yet...
Hi guys.
Just wondering if any of you have managed to get a custom ROM for the J5 yet? Also, as far as I know all methods of root will trip the knox on the device - So thats something to keep in mind.
Any devs got the time to create a custom rom for this? Can help out providing anything you need from device and am willing to test builds.

Kingroot was root J5 without Knox. but Be careful. Kingroot can result in FRP lock and Knox Warranty does not changed to 0x0. I tested TWRP and CF AUTO ROOT to SM-J500N0 and if you have more questions, please answer. And our Cafe's address is http://cafe.naver.com/galaxyj5 and I'm Korean novice developer.
I tested it with the Kingroot and now i have 0x1 Knox :crying:
