Over the last several days, I've noticed I don't have any data connectivity on my LS980, running CM12. I'm on the ZV8 radio.
Things worked fine a few days ago--I'm not really sure when it stopped working, maybe when I installed the most recent nightly (150505)? I've tried toggling roaming on and off, wiping things, reinstalling, rolling back to both CM11 and the nightly where I knew it worked (150405), all without any luck.
I can make calls and text, and wifi works just fine, but I've got no data service at all.
Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot? I'm happy to do some digging, but I don't really know where to start!
Did you figure this out
Im having this issue also
Yeah, it ended up being that some of my radio settings were jacked. If I remember right, I switched Preferred Network type from CDMA/EvDo/GSM/WCDMA to CDMA + LTE/EvDo.
And then it started working.

I guess my settings got messed up also during my latest nandroid backup.
I had another working backup......So I just flashed the old working backup, then flashed the Data only from the non working backup restore.

Im having a issue with my Evo a few days ago I switched from mikfroyo to mikginger and since then i have only been able to get onto a CDMA-1xrtt network or 4G. could this just be a build issue on mikginger or is it possible that it is a issue with my actual hardware? I checked my gf's evo which is still on mikfroyo and shes able to get 3G and is never on 1x.
After searching I havent found anything to support the idea that its mikginger but has anyone else had this issue before I do a complete wipe and take the phone back to the new OTA
(Nandroid first) Flash a rooted 2.2 ROM, whether it be stock, Azrael, or such.
Go into EPST (Dial ##3282#, Choose edit mode), enter your MSL code, Data Profile, hit the menu button and choose restore. Just sit there, your phone will reboot and everything will go back to default. This should fix your 3G issue.
Have you updated your radios or something recently? I have, and seem to be staying on 3G more often.
I don't know about restoring from your nandroid, you can try it, but I always start fresh.
Download MSL reader from the market and write down your MSL code
Dial ##3282#
Choose edit mode
type in your MSL
Select Data Profile
Hit Menu on your phone
Hit restore
hit okay.
It will reboot phone and reactivate. You should have 3G after that. I had to do that as well recently. the stock EVO only shows 3G even when I am in 1X so I was always in 1X just didn't realize it.
What these guys said It doesn't need to be a stock rom, just a sense rom.
As you've found out, the notification icon is more of a guideline and spoof by HTC/Sprint to show 3G most of the time within the script. The aforementioned tips could very well do the trick for you or it could be hardware related. I've done those steps and countless hours of doing everything under the sun to going as far as unrooting to see if it would come back..no dice. I was traveling and had the issue in several states, so it wasn't a local network issue as well.
One thing you can do is go into a rom with 2.0 or later sense. Go to Settings:>About phone:>Network...look under Mobile network type. If it says CDMA - EvDo rev. A, you can stop worrying about your 3G being borked. Going to an area that you KNOW has 3G may help with being comfortable. If it says 1Xrxx then you might have a hardware issue as I did, and had to get mine swapped out. Hopefully it's within the first year or you have the insurance if that is the case.
Hopefully the tips given before fix the issue, which it should aside from hardware issues.
Good Luck
thanks, it did the trick I am using MikGinger and ended up doing a full wipe for the update, did the trick and im back to my normal speeds
Thanks Everyone
I have the same issue after flashing a MikG rom. However, entering ##3282# in my dialer doesn't do anything. It doesn't launch EPST as its supposed to. How do I fix that?
what mik rom are you using, I have no problem with 2.0 and my issue was on 1.4

I'm using the latest, 2.15. I wiped everything before flashing. I tried updating the profile and even called Sprint to have an updated data profile pushed to my phone, but it still only shows 1x and the speeds are terrible.

The strange thing is that I wasn't able to use ##DATA# on my phone before I flashed to MikG either. I got 3G Rev A, but I couldn't get into EPST.
I flashed another ROM today (deck gingerbread 1.2) and I still don't have 3G. Any help?
OK, so I flashed to an AOSP Gingerbread ROM where I was still having the issue with only seeing 1x.
Then I flashed the latest radio, NV and PRI. Still no 3G.
Then I flashed to the latest stock rooted ROM. There I was finally able to get into EPST and change the setting to Automatic. It was on CDMA Only.
I now see State 3 = Connected in the EVDO Engineering menu from the Field Test Menu (##33284#). Hope this helps someone else. No wonder I had been getting ****ty "3G" speeds ever since I got my EVO. I wish the stock ROM would tell you that you're on 1x, not EV-DO, like every other phone does.
Now as my final step, I'm about to restore the backup of the Sense 2.1 ROM I flashed yesterday.
Restoring back to MikG 2.15 was a success, I have actual 3G now.
My apps are all there, but user data is gone and the apps that I downloaded from the Android Market don't show in the My Apps section. I might hard reset and install everything from scratch because I don't know if its as smooth as it could be either.
No 3G
I'm having the same issue on my girl friends phone. When I flash mikg rom on it no 3G, only 1x. When I flash fresh evo, it works just fine. I wonder why this is? My phone has no problems what so ever. I flashed the same roms she did.

How are you flashing? What recovery? Are you wiping everything? Are your radios up to date? Did you update prl and profile after flashing?

Im using AM 2.3 recovery. I did all that. I wiped everything. The funny thing is that I did the same thing on my phone that I did on hers and mines works perfect. We went from Fresh EVO to MikG. I put her back on Fresh evo (flashed the new version) to fix the issue. But she is being a pain in the butt and wants the same ROM cuz she wants to use some of the themes for MikG and what not. Anyways, I'm going home and going to try the fix using ##DATA# and see if it works. I'm just more curious to know why this happens to some phones and not others.
it worked
Well going to fresh evo then restoring my networking using ##DATA# worked. I flashed MikG and she has 3G now. Thanks guys.
Hey, I normally wouldnt make a help thread. But Im at a total loss of ideas on how to fix this. My Nexus 4 has been running on AOKP 4.3 nightlies for a week or so perfectly fine. Today out of the blue I lost signal all together, so I went through the normal steps of checking if everything is in order. I tried to go into my apn settings to check those, but I just got a force close upon opening my mobile networks settings. I tried using the *#*#INFO#*#* menu to check my phone settings in there, but that force closed as well.
So I flashed a clean ROM and tried to check my APN settings. I was able to get into the APN menu this time, but when I would try to save an APN and it would just exit the setup screen without saving an APN. When I try and change the setting to anything (for example, GSM, WCDMA, etc) in the *#*#INFO#*#* menu it instantly resets to "UNKNOWN" I have tried flashing multiple new radios, and new kernels and nothing has worked. I'm totally lost.
Any help would be enormously appreciated. All of my previous phones were CDMA phones so I cant really just swap my sim into an old phone to use.
EDIT: Problem was resolved. If you find this thread because you have a similar problem, download the factory image from Google's site and flash that. That fixed it for me.

Currently what ROM you're using? If you're on nightlies you should be aware that it isn't stable. I suggest you restore your nand backup if you have one.

Im currently on an AOKP nightly. Im trying to flash back to stock but Im having trouble getting it to do that for some reason too. Its acting like its been flashed, but it always boots up into AOKP again. Trying my hand at another toolkit before I start attempting to do it manually.

Flashing back to a factory image fixed the issue. Thank you!
Don't forget to make a backup. By the way I just got my 4.3 with CM 10.2 working with franco kernel.
Hey guys,
I have a Galaxy S4 (i9500). I installed Omega ROM v22 on it and everything went smoothly, Wifi & BT working perfectly.
After a few hours of using the device (nothing special at all, texts and stuff like that) - I noticed my wifi isn't working and by not working I mean that I click the wi-fi button and it changes from gray to the mid-state between gray to green for around 20 seconds before it goes back to green ago.
If I open the menu to see my networks it just says "Enabling" without any networks there.
I had to drive somewhere so I went to my car and tried to enable Bluetooth, and same thing happens there - Bluetooth will not turn on and will stay stuck on mid-state between gray and green for a while and go back to green.
I flashed omega rom v22 again and the problem was gone, or so I thought. I went back to the car for another drive and realized the bluetooth issue is back - and when I got home I realized the wifi issue is back as well.
I figured I need to reset everything so I tried the following:
Full wipe (including dalvik and even including "internal SD card") and then flashing stock rom (from the official website, stock rom of my country).
The issue was back after a few hours. I do not have BT or Wifi access. Yesterday Wifi suddenly started working for a few hours but then it stopped working again.
I really need help! I have no idea what to do with this issue!
Well rule number one when you have problems after flashing without wipe.
1. perform a full wipe and see if the problem persists.

Tried that, no luck.
What else would you try?
In some places when people had problems with Wi-Fi they said to flash a different kernel but I don't see why I would have this specific issue with Omega Rom and why the default kernel with it wont work well?
Maybe this could be a root issue? My root works fine but I have this weird gut feeling like this is some permissions thing that's going on.
I'm trying to think why it would work right after the wipe but then stop working shortly after.
Another symptom: It randomly started working for a few minutes and then stopped again (around three hours ago).
Any idea what's going on?
Well, if you fully wiped and didn't restore any apps and settings then it can be two other things.
Or it's a bug in the rom or a hardware failure in your phone.
I would suggest trying a different rom first. Do not restore anything, not even your google account.
wi-fi fix?
Do you actually have an i9505? or is it a canadian or att version? if its the latter sometimes the devs offer some wifi-fixes, also try a different kernel. otherwise it could be that your radio/modem are not compatible with the version of the ROM you are flashing.
Tried arrow ROM and this issue doesn't seem to happen in this rom. Hope it stays like that...

Sadly, it did happen with this rom, after just a few hours.
I'm now using stock rom and still suffering from the issue.
Does anyone have ANY idea what I can do to fix this?
Thanks in advance!
Last night my phone started acting up on the recently flashed official CM13 nightly 25-3. So I tried to restore my nandroid backup of the CM12.1 version but got stuck in a bootloop. I manually reflashed CM13 but can't get internet through wifi or cellular data, wifi is off and keeps displaying "Turning on wifi" with a grayed out toggle in the on position, Data is on but there is no H or LTE displayed next to my signal. Calling and texting work fine though.
I tried going back to stock Cyanogen OS with the windows toolkit but still the same issue. Installed Chroma kernel and flashed the Marshmellow firmware but still no fix.
Anyone have any ideas how to resolve this?
Edit: Data works now, it was an APN issue. Still no wifi though. And apparently Bluetooth isn't working either
Phone seemed to stop working yesterday. Last time I used it was via Bluetooth paired with my wife's car.
I get signal and can text, just not send/receive calls.
I was on dirty unicorns official and had not messed with anything in several weeks.
I just updated radio and vendor and installed latest weekly of dirty unicorns.
Anybody go through this before? Any advice?
Thanks.

What does your prl version say under your IMEI settings? I had this exact problem when I flashed the latest PN build. I tried everything to fix it. Flashing my EFS backup worked for a while but sometimes on a reboot I had the same issue again. Flashing EFS would fix it again but it was temporary. The permanent fix for me was a clean flash of Chroma ROM. Just curious but what carrier are you on? It seems like this issue has been affecting CDMA carriers like Verizon more than others.

When I had this problem the prl version in my screenshot said unknown as well as the MIN number. If you problem started after flashing an update I'll guarantee its software and not hardware. If you have an EFS backup I would try and flash that first if not I would do a backup in TWRP and then clean flash Chroma. If it doesn't work you can always just flash your backup and be back to where you are now.

I'm sure you have already checked the APN settings but it would be a good idea to make sure they were not changed when you updated. Are you in a good LTE area? A lot of people with this issue could make and receive calls over LTE but when they didn't have it they couldn't even though they had service. That's why I think it affected CDMA carriers more. LTE goes over GSM and 3g goes over CDMA. Does your phone number show up under SIm info?

The EFS doesn't change. The original backup you have is all you need as long as you have a backup of just the EFS partition and nothing else with it. It might not fix your issue but it won't hurt anything. I tried Chroma after reading it fixed a lot of others problems with the same issue and that worked for me also. I'm still running it but others have said they were able to go back to their preferred ROM after flashing it and all was good.

As long as you clean flash their shouldn't be any issues. Just go to advance wipe and select system, data, cache and dalvic. Just make sure you don't check internal storage. Then flash chroma and the recommended gapps and you should be good to go. Make a backup first and you can always just flash back to the point where you are now if it doesn't work.

Have you changed any settings in the test menu? Another option would be to swap sim cards out with another phone to see if yours works in theirs and vice versa. As a last resort before you RMA you should wipe everything and flash the stock images and start fresh. Even if that doesn't fix it I think you would have an easier time with the RMA process being completely stock and relocking your bootloader.

So, uh, I forgot to mention a critical piece of data: I live in Georgia, but this occurred at one of the South Carolina beaches, over 300 miles away.
I had full LTE, but noticed the phone said Not Roaming (or roaming: false).
As soon as we got home today, boom -- could make and receive calls again.
So, I think I can close this thread and open a new thread on how to get roaming to stick.
Thanks for all your help! :good:
