Now that most of the phones on our plans are VoLTE capable, I'm having issues with enabling it on one phone... Mine! Currently we have three phones on our plan, two Galaxy S5s and an LG G3. One of the S5s has VoLTE enabled and so does the LG G3 and works fine. However, my S5 does not have that option in Settings -> More Networks -> Mobile Networks.

In my VZW account all three phones are enabled. Both S5s are configured the same way, Rooted stock KitKat NK2 with Xposed/Wanam. I have tried many options including a full wipe, trying both CDMA/LTE & Global, even downgraded, repartitioned and downloaded every update from VZW up to NK2. and new SIM without avail.
When it was made available at first this phone had the option but left disabled due to no one else having VoLTE-capable phones at the time. Now that we all do, it doesn't appear! Is there something else I can try?

This is strange. You could try upgrading to a Lollipop rom and seeing if it works on there or downgrade to ni2 and try it. If that doesn't work I would say flashing a stock nk2 tar, testing it it works on there and if not bring it back to Verizon as you might have a broken phone (Just make sure the stock tar is flashed if you bring it in so they don't know about any changes you made in terms of roms).

Last time I tried Lollipop I had a hell of a time with battery life and crashing apps, and that's why I stick with KK, and happened on both S5s which required going all the way back to the original NCG build. I'm staying away from Lollipop on this phone unless it's absolutely necessary since Lollipop disables access to LTE (GCI/TAC/PCI). Again, remember the other S5 has VoLTE available and enabled, also on NK2, rooted & Xposed/Wanam. BTW, no options appeared for VoLTE on any of the builds up to NK2 while updating from the OTAs (completely bone-stock before rooting).
Did this ever get resolved?

I've activated advanced calling on NK7 (unintentionally).

Hey there. I have a rooted Sprint Galaxy S5. Recently I realized the WiFi Hotspot I'm paying for just doesn't work. It enables. It allows devices to connect. It remains turned on. But any device that connects to my phone fails to achieve an Internet connection.
Yesterday I took my phone in to a Sprint representative who spent a valiant amount of time trying to fix my phone. Unfortunately when he entered ##72786#, the phone started an update process that completely screwed up my activation. I believe he later reprogrammed the phone, but the S5 is still obsessively trying to "finish" activating.

(fun fact: right now when I google "reporting firmware version to server ", nothing is returned. Maybe this'll put it on the map.)
When it's done trying, I see "firmware update not completed."
I've been seeing these messages since yesterday. And I hadn't no idea if any of this has to do with my device being rooted. Rooting is really all I've done, no ROMs or anything of that nature have been attempted... only SDFix and SELinux Mode Changer were run using it.
But I HAVE had activation woes before. When I enabled tethering on my phone, it took the better part of the day for sprint to reactivate it. And I was flying, so the process took several major cities before its success. And this was well before I rooted.
Tl;dr is it possible to use the stock Hotspot and reactivate your sprint phone while rooted with your device in a Custom status?

Yeah, it's safe. I've never heard of such a problem so let us know if it works after f.resetting it

I did it via Samsung Kies... this seemed safest. I used to have negative experiences with custom ROMS and ultimately decided this was the best way to go forward.
P.S. Kies is like iTunes but it doesn't suck and it doesn't require a whole lot of authentication. I just learned this. I did a text message backup and restore and that worked great. An app backup was a lot more hit-and-miss; only the apps were backed up, not the data.
So you fixed it this way? ☺

I am asking for information, because I haven't used my S4 in over a year. My son needs a phone to use and I'm wondering how far it's worth updating my old S4? I rooted it when rooting became available, but never updated it past MDC. What I'm asking for feedback on, is how far it's worth updating it? As in, is updating as far as Lollipop worth it, or is it a battery killer? Or are there any other major problems? If so, how far do you suggest updating? I would probably have him running a stockish, but maybe debloated, TW ROM, as I don't think he isn't interested in learning AOSP. If I update all the way to Lollipop, do I need to Odin all the "official" updates between MDC and OD2? I know I'll have to unroot at the very least so I can activate my S4 on his phone number. Thanks for any advice.

I think it is worth it, battery life gets worse with each version of Android but not enough to not update. My S4 runs good enough that I decided to not upgrade for the last 6 months. OH1 is actually the latest and I just saw that they are about to release OK3. You only have to Odin one file, you don't need to do the updates in between.

Yes, the only reason I would say to go with OD2 over OH1 is if you want to unlock for another carrier. OH1 doesn't have an unlocked modem yet and you can't downgrade firmware once you've upgraded past KitKat.
If you are having trouble with the process there is a step by step in the installation instructions (about halfway through the first post) for my ROM here- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3115583
I have a few concerns to address. I recently bought the Galaxy i9505 (or in my case, the Sprint SPH-L720T version). The device comes unlocked with stock firmware/software, Lollipop 5.0.1 baseband OH2.
Now I will try to make this as clear as possible. We don't have the Sprint network here, I'm on Vodafone. I just flashed an official ROM from Sammobile with a different baseband version (this one) because I can't find the version that my phone came pre-installed with. I upgraded to address the StageFright and widgets app draw issue that was on the stock ROM.
Now my question is: by flashing a different baseband version, will I lose the ability to have an unlocked device and incur roaming charges on my network, or is the unlocked to work on multiple networks feature on a firmware level so I don't have to worry about it?
Thanks.

You will lose your domestic/international unlock of you upgrade the Baseband unless it was actually unlocked by Sprint.

Yeah, I kinda figured that would be the case. Good thing I made a backup.
I suppose you wouldn't know where I can get a StageFright Patch for the OH2 version by any chance?
Hello,
I have a S4 L720 that's running the OH1 modem on CM12 by JDC Team, I put a Boost Mobile Sim Card in to see if I could get service.
After flashing the Boost Mobile fix (Link Below), I get LTE speeds and data works fine, but I can't make or receive calls or texts.
Is it that Boost Mobile Sim's aren't compatible with the S4?

You have to go back to a Touchwiz ROM to activate the SIM. Make a backup, flash a Touchwiz ROM, activate SIM, restore backup.

Once you're on a TW ROM I think all you need to do is Update your Profile and that should activate the SIM. Try making a call and you'll know.
If that doesn't work, dial ##72786# in the phone app and that will reset the network and start the self activation process.
I went back to stock but I don't see the option to update the profile, all I see is System Updates.

Yes it's under that option, you should also update PRL while you're at it.

What ROM did you flash? If it's a 5.1.1 Touchwiz ROM they are all ports from different devices and won't have that option, you need a stock Touchwiz ROM or one built from this devices stock ROM, like my ROM, Wicked X.
I flashed the OH1 rom via Odin, I'll flashing OD2 next.
Edit: It worked, I have the options back, but it says connection error (6).

Do you have an active account with the SIM card that is on your phone? If not, then all of this was pointless.
Yes, I'm using it in another phone for now until I get it working on my S4.
I used to do a lot of this back in my Bionic days, but I've just been stock for a few of years on my hltevzw Note 3. I've been happy with my stock 4.4.2 KitKat except that It's been eating the battery lately. The bloatware seems to be unhappy that I won't cave to Big Red, so it just runs up the CPU until the battery dies.
Anyhow, I bought a spare Note 3, unlocked the bootloader, and got TWRP going on it. It's on 4.4.2 right now (stock) and I'm ready to flash something bloat-free. I've read stories about GPS or MMS or modem not working with some roms and I can't have that. I just need a rom that will run like stock without the bloat. I use the pee out of GPS, I go through 35 gigs of data a month, I text instead of calling, and I still accept the occasional phone call.
What would be recommended for something like that?

Jasmine Rom 6.1 it is based on OF1 but works fine with the 4.4.2 bootloader (unlocked) and 4.4.2 modem. I run it with idlekernal or also with the reccomended leankernel. Very battery friendly.

I saw where people had talked about Jasmine. I'll take a look. I also heard about Jackyaway. But aren't some of the roms not good for VZW or Dev phones?

No changes to the phone according to the "about" screen. It must not be as easy as flashing a rom from TWRP.

According to what you posted, you only installed the lean kernel. You didn't install the rom itself. Read the link I posted, follow all the steps for dev edition. You don't need to flash the modem, nc4 modem works fine.
