SPH-L720 S4 on Boost Mobile - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

Hello,
I have a S4 L720 that's running the OH1 modem on CM12 by JDC Team, I put a Boost Mobile Sim Card in to see if I could get service.
After flashing the Boost Mobile fix (Link Below), I get LTE speeds and data works fine, but I can't make or receive calls or texts.
Is it that Boost Mobile Sim's aren't compatible with the S4?

You have to go back to a Touchwiz ROM to activate the SIM. Make a backup, flash a Touchwiz ROM, activate SIM, restore backup.

How do I activate the Sim?

Once you're on a TW ROM I think all you need to do is Update your Profile and that should activate the SIM. Try making a call and you'll know.

If that doesn't work, dial ##72786# in the phone app and that will reset the network and start the self activation process.

I went back to stock but I don't see the option to update the profile, all I see is System Updates.

Yes it's under that option, you should also update PRL while you're at it.

When I tap it all I see is this.

What ROM did you flash? If it's a 5.1.1 Touchwiz ROM they are all ports from different devices and won't have that option, you need a stock Touchwiz ROM or one built from this devices stock ROM, like my ROM, Wicked X.

I flashed the OH1 rom via Odin, I'll flashing OD2 next.
Edit: It worked, I have the options back, but it says connection error (6).

Dial ##72786# in the phone app

Now it goes to hands free activation and doesn't go past that. (I can still use the phone.)

Do you have an active account with the SIM card that is on your phone? If not, then all of this was pointless.

Yes, I'm using it in another phone for now until I get it working on my S4.

How to remove "This SIM card is from an unknown source"

Im on Stock NC4 firmware and i get this message "This SIM card is from an unknown source".
How to get rid of this message because i use a different sim and im rooted.
Go to notifications in the pull down menu... press and hold the notification until you see "app info". Click that then click "force stop". This pops up every time you restart your phone so this is one way to get rid of it.

Another option is to use Xposed Framework and the NotifyClean module. I use it to hide the ongoing notification for my Gear watch.

Which Sim card did you get from straight talk? ATT, T-MO, or VZW?
I have the VZW Sim card. I tried the ATT Sim carf only had 4G no lte b/c n900v can not support att's bands. I tried T-MO Sim super fast lte speeds but I had horrible coverage. I now have the VZW Sim excellent coverage but lte speeds are capped at 5.5.

How to restore cellular service

I've recently installed Lollipop GPE 5.0.1 and noticed that I no longer had cellular service. I then reinstalled stock 4.4.2 (NG2). I still don't have cellular service. When I go to Settings/Connections/More Networks/Mobile Networks, the Network Operator option is greyed out. Also, the cellular icon has a red X over it. Any ideas how to update the cellular service? By the way, my SIM is for RingPlus (a Sprint MVNO) which has worked fine on this phone prior to my installing Lollipop GPE. Any hints would be much appreciated
Update PRL and Profile in Settings/System Updates. If that doesn't work, dial ##72786# in the dialer. This did a network reset.

Having the same issue. So the only way to get an update prl is through a touch wiz rom right? I tried Sacs and its stuck on trying to connect. then went to dialer and there is none. So i tired a different rom with dialer and it says i have no mobile service. Anything else I can do?

Will that give me knox? I am trying to avoid that if possible. Also do you have a link to a stock rom.

Android Development... All ROMs are there. Why are you trying to avoid Knox? It won't prevent you from doing anything.
Sounds like your baseband is not compatible with your ROM/bootloader..

Sim Unlocked Sph-L720

Hey All,
It's been a while since I've posted in here, but I have some questions I need answered that I have not found completely. I managed to sim unlock my Sprint Sph-L720 running android 5.0.1 and i'm currently using it under Cricket network. Where i'm going is, I want to put a custom rom on it but i'm not sure if it'll undo my unlock. Also, which rom would I use considering when I plug it in to my computer, it reads as a GT-I9505? Would I use SPH-L720 or GT-I9505? I see all over that an re-lock is unlikely, but not impossible. I just haven't seen anything to connect it to my experience (GT). Any help would be excellent and i'd be incredibly grateful.:silly:
Thanks again :good::good:

The unlock is in your modem, don't change your modem or firmware and you won't lose your unlock. As for the other, go by what the sticker under the battery says the model number is.

Sprint s4 sph l720 Octos CM13 6.0.1 help.

So I have a sprint s4 onrunning octos (cm13 build) on 6.0.1. I have the OK3 already, as I came from 5.0.1 already using OK3. My question is, what modems can I flash BACK to? Better yet what firmware can I downgrade / flash ? I am having the worst time trying to get my network settings to work. The APN settings are COMPLETELY GONE. There is no way for me to edit them. And the best I'm getting of service is 2 bars of 3G MAX, when I usually get almost full bars of 4G here at my house. I struggled to even get 3g working. Can anyone help me out?
Sph l720 sprint running Octos CM13 6.0.1. MY PHONE IS ON STRAIGHT TALK. I REPEAT MY PHONE IS ON STRAIGHT TALK. THE SERVICE PROVIDER IS NO LONGER SPRINT IT IS STRAIGHT TALK.
But for some reason, when I was having the phone activated I was having trouble getting the sim to work. But they told me that was because it did not take a sim card with straight talk. Also they never told me to use the provided network access code. The phone was literally sitting there for 3 hours NOT ACTIVATED. Because they said it was in progress. I asked if it was taking so long because of the sim card not being inserted. They told me no. But for some reason as soon as I put in the sim card BAM IT WAS ACTIVATED. could anyone please help me out in some way

Unable to revert to stock rom

I have an unlocked Galaxy S8. I flashed it with the stock Sprint rom to get Sprint visual voicemail and wifi calling features. Doing so changed the model of my phone from SM-G950U1 to SM-G950U. Now, I am unable to flash back to the stock rom because Odin says the model number doesn't match. What can I do to revert back to the stock rom for the unlocked S8 with region code XAA? All help is appreciated.

I recently reverted back from T-Mobile firmware to unlocked S8 as it used to be. You need to use custom Odin, not the regular one.
Do the section where is says "Flashing Unlocked Firmware"

Same happend to me, sadly the walkthrough linked above does not work for my SM-G950F (Exynos, cz version)
Mobile had TWRP+LineageOS 17.1 installed, is currently in Odin download mode and both version of odin (PrinceComsy 3.12 and Samsung's 3.14) look like in the picture below, they always get stuck like this.
