my evo will not stop charging when disconnected from charger and wont connect to comp pleas help need to fix asap
What Rom are you running ? What Recovery are you using ? What Kernel are you using ? You said it will not connect to the computer. Have you Updated HTC Sync ?
Not charging while phone is on..
Hi guys,
I am facing a very unique issue(basically i didnt find any thread which had the same problem as mine). My Evo does not charge while the phone is switched on nor can i connect it to my comp from the recovery after i mount it in usb mode. It charges properly while it is powered off. I have tried installing jellybread & mokeeos roms with tiamat kernel but they go into boot loop.
It is really inconvenient since i have to switch off the phone for it to charge. Please help.
The details of the system are below:
RoM: rooted stock rom from xda thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/HTC_Evo/ROMs)
the kernel is also stock
I am using Amon Ra recovery 3.11
Please do help me out with this.
I figure its a software problem since it is charging properly when switched off.
Are you Full Root "S-off" ? Have you tried using a different charger / cable combo ?

evo charge issues
Yes, My phone is fully rooted and s-off.
also i have tried using several charger, cable combos.
When it is in fastboot, i can flash files, threre is not problem there, but when I turn on USB mode in the recovery, it does not detect on the computer.
Also It charges when off, but does not when fully switched on. 1 thing that i now noticed was that sometimes, it starts charging when switched on, and then stops after 1 minute or so.
Also the battery drains extremely quickly now. This was not the case before this happened.
It would be great if you could help me out here,

Sounds like a bad battery or bad charging port... cheapest way to test is to buy a battery from ebay or something. See what happens. If the same problem persists its a hardware issue with the port itself (which I think it is from the sounds of it). Or you can unroot it, load a stock Sense rom and go to a Sprint store to have them look at it.
You can also try cleaning the Charger port itself out. I've issues in the past with charger ports getting dirty, which causes a bad connection. But I would still defiantly try a different Battery.
thanks guys, will clean the port and also try a new battery...
will get back once i have done these...
my razr m restarting when i plugged charger after 4 5 mints restart.i tried safemode tried another charger other wise phone is working fine just rebooting on charging after 5 mints
Mine frequently restarts too, several times a day, whether on the charger or off. I've tried taking logcats but there doesn't seem to be any consistent trigger. I'm on the last version of JB.

any solution bro?
can custom roms solve this issue?
If you connect phone when turned off to 500mA charger (or computer), the phone will power on.
Or it restarts also in other situations?

Mine restarts on its own at random with no prompting, several times per day, while already powered on. This happens whether or not it's connected to a charger. I haven't been able to figure out what's causing it. I haven't tried any custom roms, just the stock JB ROM.
So you are on JB? There are problems with random reboots on KK on GSM network, but I don't know about it on JB. You can try custom ROM or kitkat flash 163.46.10, NOT .15 if you don't have your bootloader unlocked.

I'm still on JB. My bootloader is locked. I've done the GSM edit and I'm on T-Mobile. Could just be a GSM problem? I remember my old Droid 3 would get occasional freezes and reboots, and it was on T-Mobile also.
On KitKat, there is problem with GSM causing random reboots and freezing. It can be solved by freezing FastDormancyMonitor app. But I'm not sure about JB. I'm on GSM too and I haven't noticed any reboots when I was on JB. You can try updating to kitkat (and rooting and disabling fastdormancymonitor). Not sure if this will help
I've read about the FastDormancy issue and I have it disabled on my JB phone, along with the build.prop edits that are supposed to turn it off too. I was hoping to avoid having to move to KK to fix the issue, especially as it sounds like some people on GSM are having the issue on KK too.

It's a feature. It's so done by Motorola, that when connected to PC (or 500mA charger), it powers up.

still same prob what can i do bro
What problem? If you mean power on after plugging phone to PC or less than 1A charger, you can do nothing. It is so, it is so on all DROID RAZR M's and it can't be changed.
This is also a safety feature. If you were to try this with phone on and plugged into PC with battery protection interlocks defeated, what will happen? Obviously you will damage the battery. Not to mention the Lithium polymer batteries are pretty touchy (they can blow up if you as much as stroke them the wrong way).
Mine restarts randomly 3 or 5 times per day.. Its exhausting
I've been having an issue with my OnePlus 2 since I got it where sometimes it won't charge until I've rebooted the unit. It will not lose battery while plugged in and in this state but says not charging and shows the plugged in battery icon. Anyone else having this issue?
Yep, but I usually don't use the official cable/charger.
Yah, I am also facing this problem with my brand new OP2.
Yeah same issue with my handset. It would use the USB data connection and everything will work fine. But it won't charge, for which I require a reboot.
I called up their customer care and I was asked to clear the cache, which I did. Will post my observations further
I get this issue too. Hopefully it's a software issue that can be fixed on all opt. Are any of you on a custom rom or kernel?
I'm on stock rom with AK kernel.
clear cache
Getting this very annoying issue also. Its clearly software because, as mentioned, a reboot solves this.
Can you tell me what cache they asked you to clear? How did you actually do this?
Cheers
Noam M.
I received my phone yesterday, and charged it up to 100%. Today it refused to charge from my computer, and I had to plug it into the wall with the AC adapter to get it to charge. I will try a reboot next time and see if that works.
I'm running it 100% vanilla.
Me too - same issue.
Stock Cable always (others are still no delivered..)
also Stock Kernel + ROM (Oxygen 2.1.1)
I have the same issue: it charged when plugged into the AC adapter or an Anker, but wouldn't charge when connected to my MacBook. It still drew its power from the USB connection though, so it stayed at the same battery level. A reboot did not help. Using the rooted stock ROM (2.0.3).
Same issue here though I have only had this problem while charging via PC USB port. Charging from AC power adapter works fine every time.
I am on a 1 month old OnePlus 2 A2003 (European) with Android 5.1.1, kernel 3.10.49 and Oxygen OS 2.1.1.
Also encountering this problem – it appears that after the phone successfully charges to 100%, it needs to be rebooted before it enables charging from a USB port again. Charging using a wall charger seems to work at any time.
There's a discussion about this issue over on the OP forums. Just thought I'd cross-link the two.
I haven't received the 2.1.2 update yet; will post if it fixes the problem.
Well, so far it looks like the 2.1.2 update fixed the issue indeed, at least for me and one other poster over at the OP forum.
Try These :
1. reboot in bootloader mode. (switch off -> power button + vol. low)
Wipe Cache (if you wipe data your phone will be reset!)
It should work now!
2. Let your battery go to 0% and wait for 5 minutes, now plug it into charge, it should work properly now.
Do Thank! if it worked!
Now that my DT2 updated to 6.0, it has developed a showstopping problem. It instantly powers off at random times, usually when I'm using it. Worse, the power button is ineffective at restarting the phone. The only way to restart it is to plug it into a power source and then press the Power button after it acknowledges that it's charging.
It used to do it only one or twice per day, but now it's doing it constantly.
I've already performed a factory reset and then a cache wipe, with no change.
Verizon confirms that it's happened to others, so it's not just me.
Is it possible to revert my DT2 back to Android 5.1.1?
Has anyone else here experienced this, or have any suggestions, before I tell Verizon to send me a new phone?
Thanks in advance.
Sounds like a hardware issue to me, especially if it did it prior to the update as well.

I should have mentioned, it never happened in 5.1.1.
yep, i'm having this issue as well since i updated to 6.0 three weeks ago. started about 3 days after the update, i plugged my phone in over night and i woke up to it dead. couldn't get it to charge worth anything. would only go to 4% and stop. using original charger. won't go into turbo charge. stopped by the store and picked another charger and a portable battery and used the pre-charge on the battery and it finally started charging again, but not at the turbo rate it should have. it drained the pre-charge and got to about 45%. plugged in in once i got home and it still didn't see turbo charge, took about 6 hours to finish charging. over the next few days it was still slow to charge and would randomly lock up and then reboot itself. a few days later i woke up to the phone almost dead again, even though it was plugged and showed charging all night.
did some research, found more people with the same issue. Lenovo/Moto and Verizon support all suggested put it in safe mode, then see if it still does then same thing when all the third party apps are disabled. did this and yes, it still charged slowly, and while plugged in it the battery was still discharging (percentage number was dropping... pretty quickly). the next idea was a factory reset. haven't done that one yet myself.
here is a page to one of the lenovo threads about. seems to be the main on there at this point .

I just posted this thread in the general forum for the DT2. Wasn't sure if you'd tried this yet or not - but solved many issues for me.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/droid-turbo-2/general/cqatest-app-marshmallow-causes-issues-t3386929
I also had issues with my DT2 charging. After upgrading to MM, the quick charge was sporadic, and it wouldn't work. Then I had issues with the charging port in general. If i barley wiggled the cable it would not charge, or send files via a computer.
I went up to a local Verizon store, explained my issue, and i had a replacement phone in about 3 days. They ran a special test to test all of the hardware on my phone, and sure enough when it got to the last test, which was the usb port, it failed.
I received the replacement phone with MM already installed, and have not had any issues with the usb port...so far. LOL
I ended up sending my phone back to Motorola; just got it back and it's till got 6.0 on it. It repeated this showstopper behavior twice today. NOT HAPPY.
So earlier this week, I was using my phone with Google Maps like usual. I plugged in my vehicle USB port to the phone to save battery. I had +50% on the phone and 1A USB port. So after like 5 minutes of it being plugged in, my phone just turned off. I tried turning it back on and all I get is the boot screen, then AXON shows, and puff... Phone off again. I tried booting into recovery but phone turns off before TWRP finishes loading. Phone doesn't seem to be charging. Tried different cables and charger to charge phone but nothing. No charge light. Seems like battery is dead because the phone turns off during boot and battery not charging.
Nothing seems shorted. Phone been working great for weeks before this. BL unlocked, Debloated stock, TWRP. Any ideas other than sending back for warranty? Luckily I still have my S7 as primary but I had my Axon for primary for my trip for real world daily use. Needles to say, photos and videos are wanted off the phone.

Have you tried going to bootloader mode by holding power and volume down
If the battery has died, then the phone wouldn't turn on is my thinking as everyone you then it on it eats some vattwry
You didn't mention specifically, but have you tried using the factory wall charger & cable and leave charge for like an hour?

Original charger but with certified Micro-b/USB-C cable I've been using for weeks between my S7 and the Axon.
So I left the phone alone for the last few days as I was busy at work and Just didn't feel like messing with it when I got home. I tried to turn the phone on but battery was dead. The quick flash of red led was the indicator trying to power it up. So I used my Samsung charger as it was right there and the original ZTE cable. Phone lights up charging and so I left it as is to go to work. I get home, the green led is lit, so I'm hoping my phone will power up now. Nope, right back to my original issue. Power on phone, gets to Axon logo then eventually turns off or goes black screen. I tried booting into recovery but turns off before fully loading. I try to charge phone again but no led indicator.
So later today, I'm going to try to boot into fastboot and try the new TWRP recovery. Maybe it was enabling r/w on system that caused this. I had downgraded to unlock bootloader and then installed ZADmix. I've been usuing it nonstop for 2 weeks with no issues. I have xposed installed so I know rebooted a few times to get everything working and it never turned off since then.
Really frustrating as that's the phone that had my pictures on it.
Hi @RoninBlackSoul, so what did you end up do ? Have you found any way to bring back the Axon from the dead or sent it back to ZTE for repair / replacement ? Same thing just happened to me, and for me Axon 7 is my primary phone ... if the phone is really dead ... will neve buy another ZTE phone ever !!!

Honestly not sure what did it. After battery drained, plugged it in to charge for 2 or 3 days. Then remembered some note about enabling write access in TWRP (something like that) would cause bootloops. Which is weird, rebooted the phone a few times when it was working.
Any case, I reflahed the recovery/bootstack in EDL and got my phone back. Been working great 5 months now

@RoninBlackSoul, thanks for the feedback.
Got mine working also, my phone was not charging at all. After suddenly rebooting and battery went dead fast, phone was not able to charge for about two days. After which, suddenly started working again, was able to charge and works normally now. This is weird. From my point of view this could be: 1. some sort of auto-protection perhaps or 2. an actual hardware design issue that manifests at random (for some after few weeks or months after purchase). For the 1 point: I was using a non original cable using the original charger, and the USB type c plug was hot at the time the issue occurred. Perhaps due to that heat some protection mechanism manifested that got reset after phone was completely out of juice. Will use only original cable with the Original Fast Charger from now on, as the usb-c plug of the 3rd party cable was fine with a normal charger (non QC3). Hope issue will not manifest again or, Axon 7 will be my last ZTE device ...

I only use good chargers rated for QC or 2/2.4 amps like samsung, anker, aukey. Haven't had issues since. Plus certified type-c cables at all times
