S5 with Android Auto - Verizon Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Does anyone else having issue with the Galaxy S5 not working with Android Auto? I have the new Pioneer 8100NEX but AA does not start up when I plug in the S5 to the head unit.

According to support.google.com/androidauto the Verizon Galaxy s5 currently isn't supported. I am currently in the same boat..

My question, is what is Verizon doing differently than AT&T? Verizon must have done something when they received the OS to screw it up.

Though it has not been posted anywhere but AndroidCentral just yet, the Verizon S4 and S5 are now confirmed to work with Android Auto.
You need the following:
Latest (May 5) update of Android Auto app
Google Play Services 7.5.71 (update Maps, Google app, and Play Music, then go into Settings > Applications > Application Manager and uninstall updates to Google Play Services to force the update)
May 11 update of SE Linux security policy (go to Settings > Security > Security Policy Updates and update the policy if it is dated prior to May 11)

[Q] Nexus 4 Android 4.3 problems

I have a new google play nexus 4 that came w/Android 4.2 and I immediately updated to Android 4.3. Problem one is Bluetooth cannot discover my Bluetooth ear piece; and problem two is that I can’t get a connection without Wi-Fi. Without Wi-Fi I can’t load any web info so I can’t use google maps. I guess I am not getting data. Is this a problem with Android 4.3? Is there a fix for this or is there a setting somewhere I don’t know about? I have the correct APN, I got the info from straightTalk for mt T-Mobile sim, and everything is stock on my phone. Thanks for help.
Did all of this work properly before the update?

I don't know because I up dated right out of the box. From what I am reading on the net these were problems w/4.2 and continued w/ 4.3.

How does Wear check for firmware updates

Does anyone know how an Android wear smartwatch checks for firmware updates?
is it the phone app that check for the update and then the watch checks the phone?
or does the watch check on the internet (via the phone's connection)?
thanks,
andy.
It seems to notify you once its been told that an update is available. I say this because it says its up to date while offline. It can't have possibly checked. It seems to me that the android wear app on your phone would be the thing that actually checks for updates.

Convert Galaxy S5 from Verizon to a Google Voice home phone

Has anyone converted Galaxy S5 from Verizon to a Google Voice home phone before?
I plan on upgrading from a Verizon Galaxy S5 (Android version 5.0) to an S6 Edge, however when I do I am planning on keeping the S5 and was thinking of turning it into a home phone for the kid. I was wondering if anyone has done something like the following:
- Put on a clean ROM (without any bloatware or apps or features from any carriers) just the basic setup, unless there is one created specifically for the Google Voice
- Set it up for Google Voice only for use at home on WIFI
- Setup a kids menu (with log in times etc for games).
Please know that while I am tech savvy but this would be my first time rooting a phone. Any help is appreciated.

*SOLVED*force update play services breaks data

So, PayPal and android pay finally integrated. And the only way that the integration will show up in either app is to have play services version 11.0.56. *pic below* However, this update is only supposed to be available to certain parts of the US currently I guess as it was just released about a week ago and they want to soft release.
After I did initial research, I found that I could simply download the updated play services and install. Which worked great initially. (everyone without integration capabilities should be on version 10.x.xx)
Got it set up and properly situated, while on WiFi. Kind of ignored the Google play services won't run unless you update(downgrade) it notification. *pic below*
Went to the store to realize I have no data capability on my phone. Tried just about everything so far besides downgrade because I want the integration.
So to my question vvvvv
*Does anyone know if Google play services/framework is capable of blocking all data traffic? *
Because it still shows I have great data connection(as I use the tmobile lte booster and always have good in home data. Testes with another phone to make sure booster isn't messed up) , but any app I try to use that is connected to Google play, does not have a connection. But everything works perfectly over WiFi
UPDATE: Went to remove my Google account to add it again. Upon removing Google account, sim status shows absolutely no service now
Also, I am on Tmobile
-pulled sim out and back and showing service again. But still not able to access any app connected to play store
Double Update-
**Solved**
For some reason it stopped dns capabilities of ipv6. Which is weird given the apn has been running ipv6 stock in the apn from tmobile... So i switched to my apn which is ipv6/ipv4.
Just still not sure what happened there to make that issue

Android Messages RCS Official Rollout issue

So I saw an article they were doing an official RCS rollout for Android messages...went and checked my settings today and enabled the chat features/RCS...I check back in the app later and RCS is turned off and the option to enable RCS is no longer there. I tried clearing the carrier services data and force stopping Messages...I was able to turn RCS back on, but then it disappeared again shortly after. I'm in the U.S. on T-mobile using the most recent Android 9 version. Anyone else experiencing a similar issue?
Those issues are universal. It doesn't work well. It seems to stick for me since A10 update.
I don't see the point for now if this as it's only working from Google message to Google message. And everybody has another internet messaging system like WhatsApp or whatever.
It's 5 years too late to have a chance to prevail
Mine says...
"Chat Features unavailable for this device. Your carrier does not currently support this feature."

I tried this trick here https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.androidcentral.com/how-enable-rcs-chat-features-google-messages?amp
It worked for me
Since the roll out I haven't needed that trick anymore

Yeah, I hear you but it still doesn't work for some devices or people outside of the US!
