It looks very nice - Blue is my favorite color and I wish that was out when I upgraded
I would wait. see if droid turbo gets any type of updates that mean something. then if not by the time the S6 comes along. at least samsung puts effort into developement even if they load it up with bloat they do not care about root and such ad much as motorola. it may just be a better phone all around. anyway a 2 day battery life is not really that great of a selling point.
Love it
I got this from bestbuy a few weeks before xmas.. it was an bestbuy Exclusive at that time.. glad to see they are officially releasing it... The blue is super sexy......Only problem is the blue gets dirty and discolored fast and im not sure how to clean it
Blue Ballistic + Kevlar cover
It's been available to anyone for months. The link below is the Best Buy Ballistic Blue (+ Kevlar underneath) cover when it only said "Droid" and didn't have the Verizon tramp stamp. Anyone can order it and slap it on their Turbo or Moto Maxx. It was never "exclusive" to Best Buy. The newer Best Buy Turbos and now at Verizon additionally have the Verizon logo, but the original iteration did not.
http://www.aliexpress.com/wholesale...342&SearchText=droid+turbo+battery+cover+blue
You can order any of the available colors/material covers, if you scroll down the page on that link.
Another advantage is the storage capacity. The Best Buy "blue" EXCLUSIVE version (LIES) and this "Verizon version" only comes in 32GB. You buy a replacement cover, you can put it on the 64GB. No one can stop you.
The Best Buy version isn't quite the same.

If you read my post, it is. Tell me the difference.
The original batches didn't have the Verizon logo, just the Droid name. Now Best Buy version has the both logo.
Go here

and tell me the difference. there is none.
The Droid logo looks blue in one, silver in the other. But on the other hand the latest Best Buy version could also be blue. I don't know how old that picture is. Other than that, identical.
Employees of Best Buy say the newer versions they got in look different from the earlier versions (with addition of the Verizon logo). So, if you saw Best Buy a couple of months ago, you haven't seen the latest.
The AliExpress link I posted to are selling the very earliest versions, without the Verizon logo on the back, just the "Droid". But right now the blue version being sold in Best Buy and at Verizon are identical.

I see they look the same. You need glasses. The ballistic nylon color is the same. The photos I am posting are taken under different light. Even so, both are obviously the same color.
This is NOT the one being sold in Best Buy right now. Doesn't have the Verizon logo.
Unless you are talking about the alleged color of the Droid logo (silver vs blue), which is probably the same as currently being sold in Best Buy. But I'm not going to Best Buy to prove it. Even if it still is silver -- if that's the only difference -- that's not plural. So, wrong again.

Do I really need to point out the blue trim around the camera, or are you really that blind? It looks like "maybe" the logo is slightly different too, thought hat might just be the render.
Wrong again? You are a real hoot, trying to pick fights again.
Not quite the same doesn't mean they are radically different.

OK, there is blue trim around the camera. I'll give you that one. I'm not trying to pick fights, but you have a passive aggressive attitude where you don't give details. And many times you are wrong and won't admit it. I admit I'm wrong in this case.

You are correct and I am wrong.
That's how you do it. I didn't see any differences at first. But you have now pointed them out.
IF the Best Buy version is still the same as in these pictures. It may have changed too. But based on the pictures I provided, yes, there's a difference.
The blue trim/droid logo looks stupid. I like my blue one from Best Buy with chrome trim and no VZW tramp stamp.
i want a red nylon droid, and yes its different from the best buy blue one.
i physically saw it in the verizon store last night .. in person it looks much different than the best buy one (yes i saw that one around xmas time) it has a blue metallic "droid" logo and the same metallic blue around the camera ring... it seems possibly a bit brighter (could be the lighting) but only comes in 32gb .. BUT the manager of the verizon store says that moto and verizon have 2 MORE COLORS coming out soon 1 in kevlar and one more in ballistic nylon (supposedly in 64gb)

So we bought 3 EVO's yesterday.
2 of them were a darker black and appeared smoother then the other one which was lighter black which appeared to have a tiny bit of texture.
Which versions do you guys have?

(Light Black more textured version)
(Top Light Black (more textured) | Bottom Dark Black (smoother)
I've got the lighter, more textured version.
Frankly, I'm starting to get pretty damned mad at HTC with all these little 'surprises'. First they start substituting different types batteries in some Evos, and now they decide to begin alternating battery covers? This isn't cool at all. What if a certain population with one type of battery cover discovers that theirs is more fragile than the other? I can't imagine HTC alternated for nothing more than aesthetic appeal.
Combined with the software issues we're experiencing, I'm seriously considering returning this phone, as much as I love it. This just screams poor quality control and uniformity.

I'm pretty certain the only difference is one of your battery covers is jacked up.. from what I can tell, both EVOs look the same exact around the rim of the phone.

They're definitely different battery covers. The smooth one appears to pick up some lint and hair. The textured version is unable of doing this, judging by the surface and time I've had it in my pocket.

Again 2 of my EVOs are smooth dark black, and one of them is lighter black with a little more texture.
I was going to guess the lighter colored textured version was the oddity but I've talked to 2 people now that have this version.
EDIT.
From the Sprint literature it appears to be flat dark black:
Again I see other reviews from people where they have the lighter more textured backing and side edges:
Confirmed.
The lighter grey version is from the first batch. The darker black is from the second batch.
Lots of differences (battery, sd card, case)

How are we supposed to react to this? HTC must have changed it for some reason besides aesthetic appeal. Personally, I'm wondering if the first batch of batteries has a few duds, seeing as how there are so many varied outcomes of battery life. If it is, I certainly won't be a happy camper, having one of the gold-trimmed batteries myself.

Dude if this makes you want to return it... then maybe you should get a iPhone. The EVO is awsome, and a different texture doesn't bother me in the slightest. Nor does the battery issue, because when the Extended Batteries come out, I will be buying a "baby bump" for my EVO. And you can take that to the bank.

Are you really that defensive over a cell phone? I am as big an Android fan as they come, so I'm not criticizing Android. I am obviously questioning HTC. There ARE other smartphone manufacturers beside HTC and Apple, you know.
I am not annoyed solely over the battery cover itself being different. I am annoyed over HTC making such a significant switch in batteries, covers, and SD cards for no apparent reason in the second shipment. There could be a world of differences in a batch of devices created in April/May and a batch manufactured this month. So the battery issue doesn't affect you personally; so what? It affects everybody else who suffers from it, and not everybody can afford to or wishes to buy an extended battery to rectify HTC's mistakes.
You also completely ignored my points regarding the software issues. This hardware switch isn't the only thing strange about the Evo since its launch, let alone the light bleeding and poor screen grounding. Factor in the 30fps graphic cap, touch sensor lag, and poor Wifi reception, and it's nothing short of a pain in the neck for people who expected to get their money's worth. It's clear that HTC isn't treating this like a flagship device, otherwise they wouldn't be making little switches and software changes like this.
Mine is definitely the blacker more rubbery backing. So I guess I lucked out and got the 2nd batch. I got it at a radioshack at 6am on launch day too, so I guess they had both batches on launch day. No wonder I haven't been having all the issues some of the users are having.
I don't have light leakage, don't have battery issues, don't have bottom screen lifting, no SD card issues. 2nd batch has less issues maybe?
Do you have light leak? Take it out of any covers and go to a completely dark room and look under the 4 menu buttons and see if you see any light leak.

Returning it will not fix the software issues the phone has. Furthermore, I'd have to get it exchanged by HTC, since I bought mine from Wirefly. Even if I wanted a phone from the second batch, I'd have to wait quite a while for the supply to increase again.

No light leak at all. But if the room is completely dark, the touch icons have a slight glow, but definitely not a light leak below that on the seam.

You have to take brochure pictures with a grain of salt. The timing is sometimes such that you're creating a brochure before the final product is actually ready. Often times you will have untextured plastic, no logos, etc, in your photography models. It then all gets corrected in photoshop. It's really amazing what they can do, but it doesn't always match up 100% to the final product.
I posted this I the other thread, but I will put it here too.. What hardware versions are your phones?
Check your version in menu, settings, about phone, hardware information, hardware version.j
Mine is the smoother, darker black and is hardware version 3.
Tiny bit of light seepage under bottom function buttons
Good battery life
Set to CDMA (auto) by default (*#*#4636#*#*)
Battery Cover fits perfectly
Samsung class 2 MicroSD card
Battery is completely red with black writing and patches of black on it. Part #35H00123-22M

I have the lighter, smooth cover and my hardware version says 002.
So there is definitely something different.
Also, another thing about the battery cover is this:
The people with the first batch (hardware version 002) seem to have a flimsy battery cover. By this I mean, the right side seems to not fit after you remove it a couple of times. It sticks out a little bit.
Can the newer batch (hardware version 003) confirm the battery door resting flush?
Revision 3 here. Case is a dark black color but seems pretty smooth to me. AData SD card. Battery looks red but has the gold trim on the back. 2 small patches of light leak at the bottom of the screen under the function keys. Never had any issue with my battery cover not fitting.
Mine came from Sprint Releases. Ordered the day before launch day, received it the next Monday
Edit: forgot I swapped my card. It came with a Samsung

Well, they look similar. But, I won't crucify them. Something will always be similar to other products in past. You can make a invisible, hexagonal, holographic phone!
What I am more worried about is their product placement and marketing strategies. Their marketing and promotion created same type of feeling like it did 1 year back when HOX was launched. I find their strategies bit confusing to be honest.
An example -- they are trying to differentiate in terms of their camera, pixel-size etc., This is a good idea. But how's that going to translate for common folk is something totally different. They are making things more complicated with all ultrapixel, zoe, and many more marketing terms. You can generate sales by confusing customers.
I am bit confused by their marketing strategies. Good product. How it translates to sales is a totally different matter. This was the same scenario in 2012. HOX was a good product, but literally sold nothing.
One thing I can definitely tell you is that Samsung will launch a marketing blitz from middle of March. If HTC wants to avoid a 2012, they should be smart in their approach.
I think the front of both the HTC One and the BB10 look like the Droid X.
I don't fault them though, I loved that phone.

I honestly don't care as long as it looks good in my eyes and it is hackable. Why are you guys even debating this?
Meh, with my joys with my one xl. I think I'll be passing this one up.
Really? So companies can't take inspiration from other devices? Its clear they didn't copy the design 100%, but inspired maybe. People criticize Apple for suing companies that they say they "copied their designs" and here people are criticizing HTC. Its a great looking phone, who cares if they were inspired by others. Everything is essentially based on something that preceded it.
You guys are smoking crack. That's a beautiful phone

I agree the Blackberry and the HTC look similar and both sport a bezel that looks unnecessarily large to me.
OP must hate GM then lol
But for me I am on my 3rd year of Galaxy phones and I must say HTC has me looking to switch!!
There may be one thing missing though... gorilla glass? I know a lot of people say blaaa but it has saved my arse more than once. It may be there but I have yet to see anything about it.
Loving...
the case/design
camera! finally someone gets Mp aren't everything expect in the SLR world!
speakers... I absolutely HATE having to cup my hand behind my phone just hear a frign youtube video!!!
Curious...
3 years of Galaxy means 3 years of OLED... LCD?? I'll have to see it..
battery/CPU so they increased the CPU but the chip is supposed to consume less but at this time there is no talk/standby yet... makes me wonder if it's true...
dislikes...
HTC is notorious for locking phones up.
Colors again.. or lack of... Why does Nokia get it but no-one else does...
the back... if this thing going to rock back and forth when I lay it down? Also is the middle going to gather the most scratches?
LCD... Again they may be improved a bit, but there is no denying the color depth of OLED.
beat audio logo/logo's period!!! ONE in huge letters on the back... WTF!
HTC is bad at updating phones, but this can sometimes be countered in cyan....
Over all I am loving the looks and the speed. I really think a switch is coming
It's not just me. Just read the sentiments online. A lot have the same impression. Though I would not be surprised if the people here could not see. It's a HTC section of XDA after all.
I don't hate HTC. Is just that the design is too similar.
Admittance is the first step to recovery. Maybe HTC can reflect why it's bleeding market to Sony? For your info, Sony sold more phones than HTC in the previous quarter.
Reddragon, it has gorilla glass 2.

What we're buying isn't clothes... Innovations have to be under the hood for me! It's still a cell phone... How much innovations do you need or can they make? There's a 13mp camera, a flash, a sim card slot... Screen, volume rocker etc.... If all you're looking for is looks, then you shouldn't buy this phone... It's clearly too expensive for your needs... The S6 processor, 2gb of ram and everything it has to offer don't show in the design.... Personally, I'll buy this device for sure... It's a piece of innovation... Under the hood!

Apparently just like the iPhone 5 this phone will scratch like hell. Especially with the chamfered edges and aluminium body. Not keen on this
The Sony comparison is ridiculous.
The rear looks just like the rear to the One X, except with tiny plastic bands that the device HAS to have for the radios. The innovation here is that those bands are tiny and are inset gaplessly, giving the entire phone a seamless, single-piece feel. This hasn't been done before, ever, to my knowledge.
Edit for the above tho, I have to wonder why they didn't go for the micro-arc oxidisation root (like the One S) instead of anodising... Frankly, the shiny edge looks kind of tacky.

I believe that they've learned that the MAO process isn't that durable when used in phones.. yes it's indeed a smart innovation and it makes the One S really sexy, but durability-wise, no.

I do not have the blue-line and ordered it from Newegg last Monday as part of the $249 offering. Loving this tablet and with CM11 out, makes this a beast.

Got it from Newegg.ca.
The back does pick up fingerprints (as do most metal backings like the IPad Mini). It is going into a case permanently as soon as it arrives so not a real issue. It does look bloody amazing but I've dropped a tablet in the past and damaged it due to no case (a $500 Toshiba AT270) so making sure that will not happen again.
This thing is honking fast. Loaded my entire book library into Moon + Reader Pro (best Android app for EPUB's) in under 15 minutes!
My GPE was sealed with a single grey piece of tape, not sure why LG isnt sealing some.
My box didn't even have a sticker on it. The box does display a white tablet though so perhaps that is why they were left open.

Arrived today. No discoloration on screen, white looks pretty white especially beside my Samsung and Apple tablets.
Will have to test video to see if there is a blue line. Hoping the case I ordered (VOIA) comes in tomorrow.
Box was unsealed (no sticker of any kind).

Can you please post a pic with your G Tab and the other tablets displaying a screen that has a white background so we can see how white it is versus the others? Kind of like I did below.

Sure. I'll get out the good camera. My point and shoot Sony will have trouble capturing colors.
Here is a shot. Samsung Tab 3 8.0 on left, IPad Mini (first gen) centre, and LG on right.
It has a warmer tone than either tablet but by itself the screen depicts white quite well. I have never run the Samsung or Mini at full brightness as I find them too bright.

Thank you. Yours looks very similar to mine. My problem is that I use a G2 that is tuned really cool so it makes the G Tab look extra bad to me. If you notice, even the gray tabs for chrome look a little dingy. It has left me extremely disappointed with the G Tab. Hopefully since they have released a GPE edition we will be able to adjust the gamma and saturation. Thanks again for doing that. I have a feeling that all the people that think they have defective units due to a yellow screen, really just prefer the cool look. I noticed in the pics on droid-life today on the GPE edition, their unit has dingy whites too. http://www.droid-life.com/2013/12/12/unboxing-and-hands-on-lg-g-pad-8-3-google-play-edition/

My GPE is calibrated almost the same as N5 screen, it is warm, compared to the G2 it is really warm as the G2 is really cool...
Btw, I just ran a video for almost 40 minutes using the default player and no blue line showed up. Also no dead or stuck pixels.
I just compared it to the Mini 2 and it is actually brighter. The Mini 2 is less bright than the original (battery conservation).
Seeing as I have been running the Samsung at 45% brightness, the LG needs about 65% to be comparable which is fine.
Not really concerned about battery life when on the go.
Got one of these at Memory Express on Black Friday sale.
PNY Powerpack Dual 5200 mAh.
$20 on sale free shipping. I have a lower mAh unit that I use with my Samsung (3200 mAh from Logisys). Gives me roughly another 7-8 hours of charge full use (watching video) and recharges the tablet while in use.
This one will charge two devices at once and has rapid charge. Should provide 10-12 hours of additional power to a tablet.

Thanks for the info. I definitely prefer the cooler look. Does your GPE run hot? My CPU temp hit 165° the other day while playing riptide gp 2. I tried to increase the screen brightness and it gave me a toast warning.

I noticed the tab's top portion was a little warm after constant use, guessing the snapdragon 600 soc is located somewhere there. Wasn't so warm as to feel like it was overheating tho.

couldn't agree more, cool is the way to go. The brightness doesn't come close but with mods you can get the whites pretty close

Sadly the GPE kernel by default doesnt allow trickster to tweak the gamma/color balance.
Friends I have moto g 2nd gen bought from flipkart in India in October. I also bought 3 of them for my friends in January. When i compare their screens with mine, i found that their screens are a bit yellowish while mine is pure white. Also they are having grid lines seen on screen in sun while mine is not. I think Motorola is using good quality in older ones? Anybody felt same issue?
Yes...i have a pale yellowish white screen as compared too pure white.
And even grid lines...are visible in direct sunlight.
And i m quite happy with the 720p IPS HD Display ..offered by motorola at a reasonable price.
It brings life to wallpapers and textures

I have the pale yellow type screen as well and I can also see those grid lines in sunlight.
Does anyone know what are those grid-lines? (just curious)
Oh...and btw would you please tell us which screen do you like the most?
To be honest i like mine whitish one bcoz it produces more natural colors and there is no grid lines seen in sunlight.
I was just about to start thread about this , Very recently my friend booked Moto G 2014 from Flipkart , but on receiving i found this screen to be very yellowish comapred to mine which i bought in Dec 14. IT was looking very cheap type although it had good colors(more saturated ) but lokkinh dirt cheap man.
I was shocked to see this and thought of this device specific only but that guy returned that mobile due to speaker problem and on exchanging ,, new mobile screen was same Yellowish and looking cheap esp on browser viewing of white webpages .
Looks like Lenovo is now having some influence
If I turn my phone just right, I can see grid lines buy I can't see any yellowish cast to it.
Yes..i bought moto g 2nd gen in november 2014..after that my friend bought phone in December.. I noticed difference in display but i dnt know what exactly it is..i just thought may b its because of screen guard.. But now i think there is diffrence definitely..

You have Gorilla Glass 3. Why use a screen guard? Unnecesary and detracts from the phone's original screen.
My screen is the pure white one, buyed the phone on a random store in 18 nov 2014. I guess the Yellowish screens only appeared after/in december.

Well as I said earlier, I've the gridlines in my screen, and it looks slightly pale yellow too. However I bought it on September 14 which means Motorola had both types of screens from the beginning...
Anyway, I've another concern now.
There is a GAP between the bezel and the screen. Its less than 1 mm but over 0.5 mm, mostly at the right side of my phone.
Can anyone please confirm whether they have any GAP like this or not?
Please share the photographs if possible, I'll share mine soon (have to get a camera)
Hello. As I have 7 friends who also own the ΧΤ1068 model and I've been able to compare them all, I can confirm that there are two different types of digitizer used. The digitizer grid consists of many dots and lines. It's the layout of each type that makes the one seem like there are vertical lines on the screen. Here's an image I made to explain how the two digitizers look while holding the phone under a light having the screen turned off.

Yes dear you are right. I bought in October and there is no yellowish ness on screen. I think Motorola is purchasing screens from different vendor. But now they look cheap.
Another thing
Friends if you look at a particular angle in newer screens, you will see light diagonal lines which is not seen in older white ones.

My phone was shipped from Hong Kong to Thailand and has a manufacturing date of September 26, 2014. My screen's white has no yellowish tint whatsoever and the color of the white tends more towards the blue spectrum, but it is a very nice white. I guess I got lucky. I've only had the phone for a couple of weeks. I've had LG phones with a reddish tint (didn't bother me but my wife hated it) and I would probably be bothered by a yellowish tint. Why would Moto opt for an inferior screen when the phone has been getting such good reviews? Maybe it was something Lenovo forced on them after the sale finally went through?

We talked about this some in the CM12 thread in the Original Development section.

What about the GAP between the bazel and the screen?
Does anyone have it?
Just purchased s7 edge in white and to be fair I am very dissapointed with it. Light is bleeding pretty much all around the screen. It is in white finish and it just looks like the white does not cover anything at all. I understand that amoled should not bleed as ther is no edge backlight but the screen just looks horible when in bit of a dark conditions. White edges on top and bottom are basically lit up as well!
Please see this picture in pitch black on phone. Could it be faulty handset or just a white finish not covering things properly

Well it is quite clear on pictures. The white surround of the phone does light up based on the colour of the screen to the extent that majority of white bezel is lit up with white screen on. The rainbow efect on the first pictures could be seen over the bezel itself as well which is very unusual

It happens on all s7 edges. But the white one shows it the most. It isn't really lightbleed all it is that the light from the screen is traveling through the glass.

It happens slightly. I personally have the gold one and if you have you brightness set to full and have something white display you will see the light come out at the edges where the glass meets the metal frame.

I have arranged exchange for another white one tomorrow, so we will see.
For me personally this is dealbreaker. Cannot really believe this was not reported much before for such a favourite device. Having all this gorgeous amoled screen with zero level blacks and you phone lights up like christmas tree in dark is ridiculous. Watched video side by side on my LG flex 2 and this s7 edge in darkness and the edge one is really bad with all the leakage coming from bezel. Magic of amoled is just gone for me. Hope will have better news tomorrow. Worst case scenario will have to go for dark finish one to get results I want.

The black s7 edge is the best looking one in my opinion. It's the one I was going to go for but the gold one was the only one which was in stock. I'd go for the black one becuase the white one will have the same issue.

You were right. Doh.
Received replacement and it is exactly same as the first one. I dont really know what to do. Really like the phone but I just can't get over the issue. I use the phone in dark quite often and black performance is very important for me, unfortunately it is just not good enough with all the leakage.
I am tempted to try the black one to see if issue will go away or possibly wait for Note 7.
I cannot really understand how people can live with this issue. Done more googling and it seems to be quite a common problem even on s6 edge. If that was apple it would be all over the web as another Applegate but Samsung is somehow protected. Weird.

Try the black s7 edge. The only reason which would warrant the jump to the note 7 is 2 features, the spen and iris scanner. Personally I'd keep the s7 edge because of the bigger battery. I've had every single note up until the note 5 and the spen in my case was just a showing off feature, I rarely used it. Obviously it's still your choice but I'd try the black s7 edge before jumping to the note 7.
I have the white as well , and the light leak is not a big problem for me.You can see it as a feature, like the expensive Philips led TV's with Ambilight..

Yes. Phillips Ambilight was first thing that came to my mind as well. Unfortunatelly it is not something I want from the phone
Received black one today.
Much better than white. Still some leaking on sides where glass meets metal but bezels covering all the light so thats good. Got mixed feelings about the phone at the moment but will see how it goes. Expected Really good baterry life but it is poor so far. Hope it will improve with few more charges. Camera is excellent. Need to get used to the samsung UI as been with LG for 4 years.
