Apparantly T-Mobile will give you free phones if you sign up for a family plan (2-lines or more).

It's a blog on from the wall Street Journal. I had to put "." in the http becaue I'm still new on this site. Otherwise just Google "T-mobile HTC HD2" and you'll find the link.

Its just the wall street journal. Just do a google search for it on google news or at the above link. It's the real deal. I was told it was for anybody who opened up a new family plan or added a line onto an existing family plan. Free phones for all of the new lines. Regardless of what phone. No rebate i think. Straight free.

Well the "." in between the http was a red flag. Just because its the wall street journal doesn't mean someone couldn't set up a fake site. All they do is set up a very similar url and when you go to their site it usually has a virus or a trojan. Maybe its just being overly safe but I never click on a link that is weird looking.

Great just when i bought this phone a few months ago . Might as well just get one for free and sell it.
I was reading the fine print on the offer earlier today, and it states, "mail-in rebate may apply"...but no other clarification than that
will this work on Even More Plus accounts?
It works for family plans. Is your Even More Plus account part of a family plan?

I'm wondering the same, and yes I have a family account currently on EM+, but of course we're normally not eligible for promos like this...but if I find out we are, you know where I'll be this weekend

That's what I'm saying
I already have 4 out of the available 5 lines on my account... which is obviously a family plan of sorts. Thankfully, I'm on the "unlimited everything" plan.
I'm just going to pay to add another line, and most likely snag either the MyTouch 3G Slide, or another HD2 just to sell on Craigslist.

Okay. Nevermind all that. You are not eligible for the free phone. Don't even bother to go down to the T-Mobile stores. You will just be disappointed.

I must. I'm missing the part in either of those articles posted above where EM+ family plans are specifically excluded from this promo as they have been from others in the past. I expected that they would be, but nothing in those articles (or others I've read) state that specifically.
*The offer is valid at T-Mobile owned and operated locations only. New activation on qualifying family plan with two-year agreement required. Limit five lines per family plan. Mail-in rebate and restrictions may apply. Store hours may vary. See store for details.

i'm planing to sign up for a new family plan and get 2 hd2 for free this saturday, so does anybody know if the return period with a family plan is still 14 days and i will have to pay only 400 $ in order to cancel my both lines, or there is an extra fee for cancelling lines of a family plan???
thanks!!!
Ok guys, so I saw somewhere around here, a while back I think that Sprint changed some of it's fine print in the contract...Soooo, no one flame me or anything, but does anyone have any info on this? Thinking of jumping ship to verizon. I have 4 lines right now and pay around $176 a month and all the lines are still under contract for a while. I'm not set on going to verizon, but would just like to get some ideas....Thanks for any input....yes...I'm thinking about getting the iphone
tether it a lot while roaming. Use up at least 3-4 gig's a month on roaming data.

Yeah, pretty much this. Load up a Verizon PRL and start downloading Linux ISOs.
And get ready for your bill to double for those 4 lines.

I'm looking to get out of all my lines tho, not just one...I forgot what I read somewhere but, Sprint changed like the price per text message, or since they're adding this $10 data fee, or something along those lines...i wish i could find that same post
I think I found something...This was just on my latest bill, I did some research and any change to the previous contract is a breach and you have 30 days to get out of your contract. Now, you can get out of your contract and still keep your service, just not be tied down to a fricken contract! Here is what was on my last bill:
Directory Assistance 411 Increase
Effective 3/1/11, the domestic Directory Assistance 411 base charge will increase to $1.99 per call.
Please let me know if I am wrong, but when I worked for Verizon this is the way it was for them too.
I think the way it works is you tell them "hey I don't agreement this change and I want out" and they have to.

Not sure but I think the contract might give them the option to. I haven't heard of anyone being charged though, just dropped from the network.

I believe the text message rate happened some time ago. Sprint has been very careful with their most recent changes and they don't count as "materially adverse changes". The Sprint Premier change doesn't because it's a perk and not part of the contract. The $10 data fee doesn't because if you have an EVO or Epic, you're already under contract to pay it anyway, and if you don't, you won't be paying it until you get another phone. The 411 fee mentioned above also doesn't count because it's not part of your contract.

No. Once you get out of your contract this way you also lose service and the phone numbers associated with the account. You just do not pay the ETF per line if they apply.

You cant get out for Sprint changing the ten dollar premium data fee because existing lines are already grandfathered in and the 411 calls are just a service they offer. you can call 1800free411 and get free 411 calls if you would like. They will not let you out of contract because these fees are not something you are forced to pay. The last time sprint changed something that would allow you to get out of your contract for free was when they imposed the 5g data cap on the 3g service for data cards only. that meant that anyone who opposed it could end service within 30 days without any ETF but after the 30 days it was assumed that you accepted. So I would keep trolling but they are really arent as dumb as they seem...

I drew up a plane ticket and an apartment lease contract to a place where Sprint offered no reception. I think I was moving to Alaska or something.... can't remember. Point is, it worked. They let the line go without paying an ETF.

Does anyone know about the new plan from Spe 5? I guess they will not throttle? So it said a 20 or 30 plan. So if they do not throttle, why not get the $20 2 gig? plan?

It's basically all over the android blogs as well as engadget. Here's a link to one article:
http://www.tmonews.com/2012/08/t-mo...unlimited-data-plan-thats-actually-unlimited/
But there are still plans above that, for more money? There must be some catch or else everyone would get this new plan, and no other.
The "Unlimited" plan they're proposing doesn't include the tethering option. Rooted phones don't apply, we can tether anyways.
I'll be jumping on this, I just need to figure out what phone to upgrade too...yeah, perplexing questions.

The purpose of multiple plans is that there are some people that do not use that much data so why pay for it? I personally don't tether and was grandfathered in to unlimited data of 5 gb before being throttled. I am mostly on wifi all day so it doesn't count towards the limit. If you're not going to tether, then there is low risk of hitting that limit unless you're watching movies all day.

Okay, first thing i saw when looking at that link. was "DATA FEATURE" meaning something added to a base price of your minutes? I remember seeing something like this when 3G became popular on verizon's network. They charged like 30 bucks for your minutes and then 25 extra for data and 20 extra for MMS. It was a while ago, but it pretty much just splits up the fees. Like instead of one fee for everything they split it up. It looks "cheaper" that way.
But i do feel a little skeptic, as said before, there are more expensive plans than this, one would think they would make this the most expensive weather or not you had MobileHotspot option. Plus there is no fine print, im certain T-Mobile knows that you can have a rooted phone tether. However i do remember someone over on PPCGeeks tell me that the way they will block tethering is by User Agent. But i dont see that working because you can spoof a User Agent inside your mobile browser so that you can get the full website not the mobile version.
Unlimited T-Mobile data sure would make me consider getting a contract... Hell i KNOW i would get a contract for that. I use data like its nothing. Price you pay when your father is still using dial up
Well i just spoke to customer service and they didnt mention anything being "truly unlimited". I asked about it and she said i can only get the new 5gb plan bundle with mobile hotspot,Which cost 5 dollars more. So as of now if you want the upgrade any service you're forced to pay extra for something most people had for free.
Edit: well i just spoke to them about the the plan was able to switch. In all the I'm paying the same amount as I was before.

How do you get this cash back? Is it taken from your bill?
No I don't think it is taken from your bill I think you get the 10% discount on your bill but then you get the $35 cash back in your student rate account

3.) what business is it of yours whether we buy off contract or don't? yeah, we've heard of the "best buy" loophole, which was eliminated back in August. i'm not risking losing my unlimited data when i have the means to purchase my phone outright, thanks.

For me, being in the small minority, I'm actually in contract until October 2015 due to their new 2 year contract and keep unlimited data "glitch" last year.
Here is something I've never been able to understand. Hopefully someone can help me get this. I hear about this method and that method to keep unlimited data. I hear about dummy phones and switching sims., etc... on contract is 299. Off contract is 699. Difference of $400....over 2 years. Doesn't a dummy phone, or line cost money? I've heard 10 a month, so in two years 240 dollars spent. That leaves $160 left. .....over 2 years? ??? That comes to about a $7/month savings. Ummmmm.....I see a lot of effort for $7/month put in by a lot of people. Am I missing some other super secret method to keep unlimited data? I paid full retail for mine, saved the 200, and kept unlimited, but im also not worried about the Verizon police either.

As someone who has unlimited data on 2 of my lines (wife and mine) I'm not sure this is entirely true. I've upgraded 3 times since they stopped unlimited data and the note 4 makes 4 times. I'm doing it the same way I've always done it, I even tell vzw I'm doing it and no one (at verizon) has ever told me I can't so it.

but hey, everyone is entitled to do whatever the hell they want with their hard earned money so I dont get why others try and tell them what to do with it.... hope we get root soon!!!!!!!!!!! cheers!
So my question to those of you on unlimited data is .... If you look at the amount of data you use on a regular basis, then figure in the cost of a full price phone, are you actually saving much money over what you would pay if you just had a normal contract? My guess is a few people are getting in Verizon's pocket but for the most part you aren't coming out that far ahead if any. That's why Verizon doesn't close the loophole. These guys run a billion dollar business. You think they don't know everything about their business. They have people that read these forums.
It's the same reason Cspire offers unlimited plans because they know that most people don't use much data. Only a few use a ton.

I know a lot of users who use a ton of data me and my girlfriend use between 20 to 30 gb each a month. Our combined bill is only 145 bucks that's with 2 smartphone and a feature phone. I can't speak for all but in my case the price I'd pay for that much data on a new plan would just be ridiculous, so for a heavy user (anyone using over 8gb) then I'd say never lose unlimited.
