those are the giz and engadget links.
basically they are getting rid of unlimited data and are charging you buy the megabyte/gigabyte. it's 15 a month for 200mb and 25 a month for 2gb. if you go over the 200mb limit on that plan it's another 15$ for 200mb that month. so that means for 1gb of use on that plan your paying 65$ for 1 gb on that plan. and if your on the 2gb plan it's 10$ for another 1gb. only good thing is if you use more than 200 you can switch to the higher priced plan and save some money, and it seems you can do this on a month to month basis.
there is a lot more stuff in the articles you guys should read. but honestly we shouldn't complain about the 10 dollars extra for the evo. for that ten dollars we get unlimited txt, unlimited data, and unlimited mobile to mobile. no other carrier can provide this. on other carries txting alone costs like an extra 20 a month for unlimited.
you know what i'll be happy to pay the 10 a month on the evo even though i live in miami without 4g. that 120 a year will just help get 4g out to everyone faster. we're lucky it's just ten. look at what other carriers are doing, we are really lucky.
good now more people will be coming to sprint lol
Nice! iPhone users will suck it up. haha that's funny new iPhone will users will love this
Haha this is sad. Happy i switched to flexpay

thats freakin' AWESOME. way to go sprint

Yep, "Any mobile, any time." It's saved me so many minutes, and you get it long as you have an everything data plan.
Thank God I'm switching from AT&T. The new data plan prices are asanine. The point of getting an iPhone is to promote more web use. In life I learned that if you have too little of something you tend to need/use/want more. AT&T will make a killing off overage buckets.
Netflix is supposedly coming to the iPhone. Are you telling me that 200mb a month will suffice when streaming a movie. You will easily use that just watching ONE movie. You have to be a fool to even consider those plans an option.
To be honest, if it was not for Sprint's price, I would be with Verizon. So the extra $10 is not a super deal breaker... it is just annoying, but still maybe a bit cheaper then Verizon. I just hope that those extra $10 help install a bunch of
4G towers everywhere because I want to get my money's worth.
What annoys me is that I am supposed to get unlimited, but it was always known to have a soft cap at 5gb. So now I bet they will enforce it. Does my $10 make it truly unlimited in 4G AND 3G? I get no clear answer here. Because I KNOW that I will be on 3G more than 4G...
Also... I used to get free tethering in Sprint with my plan (I have a shared plan with my wife, 1500 mins, unlimited) Do I no longer get that? Do I have to pay the stupid $30/month for that? That is what annoys me.
Also what will happen when/if they go to 2.2? Will they disable the hotspot in Froyo?
As far as ATT is concerned... I just feel sorry for them, and for those that have to use them. Verizon makes a good point that your phone is only as good as your network, and theirs sucks. My buddy has to walk outside to send a text on his iphone. Many of the people I work with have Iphones that don't work well at all where we are. They would rather deal with THAT then give them up. I feel sorry for them to be that blinded. Have a phone that does not work at your place of work just to have an iphone... that is retarded.
$250/mo with AT&T or Less than $100/mo with Sprint. I could care less about the $10 premium for 4G considering how much I used to pay. I believe that these new plans will drive many people away.

never heard of a cap on sprint so don't know about that. and there are at least 5 different ways to tether on an android phone through either root or applications like pda-net. i think it's like 10 dollars and once you buy it you can tether all you want with the program. the 30.00 a month thing is for people who don't know about those type of things.

the limits are:
3g = 5GB/month
4g = real unlimited
and yes sprint will disable tethering in froyo, they disabled gps in the sprint touch so only they could use it with their navigation app(which they charged for)
Yeah i seen the ATT price changes yesterday also. WTF are they thinking? Maybe the iPhone and it generated traffic is actually killing thier network after all. I would blow through 200mb in a day. I am a little over 5gb so far this month with VZW.

yeah but with tethering it's not like you don't have the ability built in and data is data regardless of device so you shouldn't have to pay so much for the option. 15 or 20 is "reasonable" 30 is a little much in my opinion. and with the new 10 dollars extra we get "truly unlimited data" 3g and 4g. i don't consider it stealing, i consider it circumventing an idiot tax but thats just me.

People who don't know any better will get the $30 tethering package. However, being on XDA probably means that 98% of us know better. I am willing to bet that the following will work:
ROOT + Wi-Fi Tether app = Free Wi-Fi tethering.
actually some one has tried it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=694047
this thread has stuff about wifi-tether etc.
Just because you can afford the extra $10 for whatever reason they give, does not negate the fact that its bogus. Changes are always incremental, so if you delay or prevent increases in fees, the less you pay in the long run. By letting any company do this without complaining, it makes it alright in their eyes and they will do it more often. Wouldn't you from a business standpoint?
Besides, Sprint has been bleeding postpaid customers for years, they should continue to bring in new people with the low plans and not tax the higher end users (cuz they know they will pay)
Does anyone know if this combo would work?
I read around the web and the Vibrant worked.

My first data plan and spoke to the "loyalty" department. Have mine unlimited for $20, but then again been a T-Mobile customer when they were still called Voicestream. Also read somewhere that T-Mobile is starting a new data plan for smartphones where its $10 for 200mb of bandwidth if you don't use that much data.
you guys DO know that the EVEN MORE PLUS plan for $59.99 is cheaper than pretty much everything combined.....

Yes, but on the Even More Plus, you are not under contract and pay FULL price for your phone.
If you are still under contract you will pay the Early Termination Fee.
Why throw in something that's only relevant to 1 or 2 people? Most of us are under contract.

Weird story about this, I've had internet with tmobile for 3-4 years and I still have my 20 dollar plan pricing. Since it was already on our plan my wife also got an android phone and was also able to get the 20 a month plan. Saves alot once you get more then one phone with that pricing @@

If you've been with T-Mobile long enough, i'd say like 2+ years... you can ask them to put you on the Even More plus plans..... they ARE getting rid of these plans as it turns out they are not as profitable as they thought they would be.
I personally think thats the best deal around $60 for all that is unbeatable.
Also, if you have a good credit you put the G2 on Interest-free installments.... I paid $250 down and the rest $250 will be added as $25/month on the my bill each month until I finish out the remaining balance.

Honestly, it doesn't take much to get T-Mobile to lower down your prices. You just have to call retentions and make them budge.
I have two friends that JUST switched to T-Mobile from Verizon about two weeks ago. They got the Even More 750 minutes Family Talk and Text Plan for $79.99, and to one of the lines added a $30 Unlimited Android Data Plan and to the other line a $10 Unlimited Feature Phone Data Plan. So in total, their bill came out $120/month.
What I told them to do the very next day is call T-Mobile retentions and tell them that Verizon came calling back with an offer that they couldn't refuse, and since they were in the 14-day trial period, they could leave T-Mobile without having to pay any contract cancellation fee. T-Mobile is not about to let someone walk away. That is just not good business. So they made a counter offer that they couldn't refuse that looked like this:
Even More 750 minutes Family Talk Plan for $59.99/month
Unlimited Text Messaging for $15/month
Preferred Android Unlimited Data Plan for $20/month
Preferred Feature Phone Unlimited Data Plan for $5/month
10% Off Entire Phone Bill every Month through University Affiliation
2 Months Free of Data Charges
That comes out to $90/month, not even including those two free months of data charges. That's a ridiculously good price if you ask me. So next time you call T-Mobile, push them a little. They'll cave eventually.
whos with me ??
Just switched my plan over, 1 2 3
price stayed the same, now I can use 10-15-20 gbs a month! woot
So it stayed at 49.99 a month?
switched over yesterday and i'm spending $30 on the plan in addition to the talk and text i already have. saving $5/month now and i dont even use the wifi tethering
I'm on the value plan so im paying $5 less for going unlimited as opossed to my 5 Gigs of data
When I switched the tmo rep said the offer would only be available for a limited time, even when they discontinue the offer whoever got it will still be truly unlimited. I don't know if he was just trying to get me to upgrade the other lines though. Any who get it why it last!

I hate Telus. I pay 30 bucks for 6 gigs but they could care less if I tether. They even told me they have no way to check lol...I guess that's a plus. Besides I can't dent 6 gigs if I try...I live in so many wifi hotspots I never use data
I called twice to switch to their new really unlimited plan, and they both said "its the same as 5gb (the one I have), but without tethering. You'll pay $5 less, but you'll still get throttled at 5gb"
Obviously he had no idea what I was talking about. I want to switch and I can't do it from the 'my account' app. Any other way to switch? Will I have to go to the store :banghead: ?

Hi everyone.
I'm getting the Nexus 4 launch day, but I don't have Tmobile nor do I know how it even works.. I'm looking to do a sim only plan since I will buy the phone from the play store.
So my question is.. Are the plans monthly? or long term? If so, what's the cheapest plan with data and unlimited texting? I don't need a lot of minutes. I've looked at the Tmobile site, but to be honest its kind of confusing..
also would it be worth it to upgrade to nationwide 4g? I'm currently at UCF so if anyone knows that would be awesome!
Thank you in advance!

One of their Monthly 4G plan for $30 (they have two plans for $30) comes with "Unlimited" Data 5Gb 4G, rest is miserably slow. unlimited texting and 100 minutes. I use it, If you don't use minutes that often it's great. I've only went over my 5Gb once, so unless you stream HD videos you should be fine. I listen to slacker almost everyday while i'm at work and have yet to go over.
It's only available if you order the Sim online and activate it on their website, or go to Wal-Mart.
As for the Sim-only plans, the Value Plans, I'm pretty sure they're contract plans. They don't advertise them as being pre-paid.
You just get a cheaper plan because you're not paying an extra $10 a month for getting a $400 for free or whatver.

I asked if there were any promotional discount or rebates. The said there's a $50 rebate on accessories. So I asked if I bought a $40 case, I'd get $10 off my phone? Nope. Postpaid only.

Unlimited data here but this is a great thing can only help people on Att sprint and veriz0n
He also did address the new wideband spectrum
Low and behold I finally got band 12 today. Let me tell you I was only getting 5mbp down. Now I'm getting 25 down in my bedroom. I live in Fort Lauderdale.
5 down is 2x what I'm getting. Alleged LTE. Bah! No, I don't live on a farm. I am in San Antonio, TX, a city of over 1.4 million people, and I still get data speeds that are so last century.
Glad I'm still on the unlimited data plan(Granfatherd)

You know they have new plan that just came out. 2 linen completely unlimited for $100. I use to be on the old grandfathered in plan but now I'm saving 20 bucks.
Think they just bumped the speeds here in Springfield Ohio was getting 5 down 2 up now I'm getting 12-15 down 5 up constant
Prepaid customers get treated like second class citizens because prepaid plans aren't where the revenue is generated. If prepaid guys aren't ready to commit to the company, the company can't be committed to them. I'm on the $30 plan, I know this update doesn't affect me, I know this sucks, but it makes business sense.

Be wary of any new plans that come out, on any carrier. Newer doesn't always mean better. In fact, most of the time, it means quiet the opposite.

700 mhz wideband has kicked in all over. Here in Fort Lauderdale too.
I'm assuming tether data doesn't "stash" ... That sucks for unlimited users.

and, BTW, I just confirmed that most post paid plans, including the 4 lines for 100 bucks DO qualify for the "data stash"/10 gigs per line, per month plan!

This is great to hear. Your saying even though I've never bought extra data like the fine print says, I'm still going to get the stash and 10gb of data?
And how exactly did you confirm this?

I called them 2 different times and both reps said the same thing..
Color me skeptical. The TMO website clearly states that you must have postpaid for at least 3 Gb of data to be eligible.
