Prepaid customers get treated like second class citizens. When I went to go buy my note I was told it cost $769 with tax. I was like don't it retail for $749? They said that's post paid. Whatever. I asked if there were any promotional discount or rebates. The said there's a $50 rebate on accessories. So I asked if I bought a $40 case, I'd get $10 off my phone? Nope. Postpaid only.

Unlimited data here but this is a great thing can only help people on Att sprint and veriz0n

He also did address the new wideband spectrum
Low and behold I finally got band 12 today. Let me tell you I was only getting 5mbp down. Now I'm getting 25 down in my bedroom. I live in Fort Lauderdale.

5 down is 2x what I'm getting. Alleged LTE. Bah! No, I don't live on a farm. I am in San Antonio, TX, a city of over 1.4 million people, and I still get data speeds that are so last century.

Glad I'm still on the unlimited data plan(Granfatherd)

You know they have new plan that just came out. 2 linen completely unlimited for $100. I use to be on the old grandfathered in plan but now I'm saving 20 bucks.

Think they just bumped the speeds here in Springfield Ohio was getting 5 down 2 up now I'm getting 12-15 down 5 up constant

Prepaid customers get treated like second class citizens because prepaid plans aren't where the revenue is generated. If prepaid guys aren't ready to commit to the company, the company can't be committed to them. I'm on the $30 plan, I know this update doesn't affect me, I know this sucks, but it makes business sense.

Be wary of any new plans that come out, on any carrier. Newer doesn't always mean better. In fact, most of the time, it means quiet the opposite.

And how exactly did you confirm this?

I called them 2 different times and both reps said the same thing..

Color me skeptical. The TMO website clearly states that you must have postpaid for at least 3 Gb of data to be eligible.

T-Mo people, teach me about your pricing structure.

Went in to a T-Mobile store yesterday to see if they had any S3's, and while looking at the display model, it said it was $279, or $229 if on the value plan. What is the value plan, and whats different between it and the standard family plan? Also, you MUST take the 5GB data plan? They had 2 employees working and about 5 people in line, so after ab out 10 minutes I left, questions unanswered.
The price is to make up the fact that you could save more with them. A value plan is when you start out a contract with a phone that you either have or bought full price. At the end, you end up saving even more than classic. You could find better deals at Wally world or Costco and they won't even make you upgrade your plan
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
So if Im walking in as a new customer, I would have to pay the $279?
I just signed up for T-mobile this week coming from sprint. Got the S3 with the value plan. I paid about $270 in the store and walked out with the phone. With the value plan, you end up paying FULL price for the phone but they basically give it to you on credit and interest free. They add an extra 20 a month to your bill for 22 months, however you can pay off the phone early. Once the phone is paid off, I am looking at about 83 bucks a month with insurance for Unlimited with 5GB data with hotspot.
All of the numbers I just gave your are ballpark (except for the extra 20) becasue I don't remember the exact numbers.
In the long run, your monthly bill will be cheaper. The classic play with 5gb is about 94 bucks a month before taxes and fees.
At least this is how I understand things. If I am wrong, someone else please chime in.
I hope this helps a bit.
To add to durhamite's response, the extra $20 is per phone on the Value plan. This is easier to explain with examples. I'll assume two lines on an unlimited voice/text/2GB high-speed data plan.
Classic price for phones: $279 (after MIR)*2=$558
Classic MRC = $139.98
Value price for phones: $229*2= $458
Monthly EIP payments (for 20 months): $20*2=40
Value MRC: $99.98
I left out activation fees and any other fees that would be the same, regardless of plan. To summarize, with the Value plan, you pay $200 less today ($100 would come back via MIR if you chose Classic), the same amount for the next 20 months, and $40 less for the last four months of your contract. Keep in mind that both plans have an ETF and if you cancel a Value plan early, the remaining balance on the phones is due immediately.
The other advantage is that with the Value plan, you wouldn't have to have the data plan on your phones. However, I'm unsure if that is from the beginning, or only after you have finished your EIP installments.
So basically on the Value Plan, TMO is giving you an interest free (0% APR) loan on your phone (EIP payments = $20 x 20 months). Assuming that your credit is good enough to qualify for this plan.
I've ran the numbers between Classic vs Value plans. Value is always cheaper, you'll save between $100-$200, after 24 months contract, depending on which plans you choose.
Should of went to Walmart, only 198 for the phone.

While it's true that you're saving upfront cost of the phone $198 vs $229 from Walmart vs TMOBile, once you add up all the 24 months contract the Value plan is still cheaper. AFAIK, you can only get Value Plan from Retail TMO stores.

WELCOME TO TMO BRO! Ive been with them for a decade, and in that time Ive also had second lines with Sprint, and verizon. Tmo is AMAZING!! They will take good care uf you whenever theres a problem, they have gone SOOO far above and beyond anything any other carrier will do for me.
Also, make sure you bookmark tmonews.com, , its ran by blogger David Beren and its a branch of phonedog. Youll find all the latest leaks of phones, and sales. If you watch the sales, you can call and make changes to your plan that cxan really save you big money and lock you into great prices and features. Sorry, Im a huge TMO Fan, and Im always trying to bring ppl over, lol. Theres a guy at my local Tmo store who tells me I make him About $500 a year in commisions, just telling ppl about the service and handing them his card, lmao. But in return he called me the day before launch and had a GS3 tucked off to the side to sell me a day early!

wrong you can get the value plan w/ the s3 at costco for 390 without monthly installments. now that is a deal.
My plan:
unlimited minutes for two lines: 69.99
unlimited text for all lines: 9.99
two additional lines: 4.99 x 2 = 9.98
two lines w/ 200mb data: 4.99 x2 = 9.98
Total bill: 99.94$ - 15% employee discount = 84.95$ monthly pre taxes for four lines.
This same plan on classic would run you.... 99.99 for unlimited talk/text plus 19.99 for two add a line plus 40$ (minimum) for required data. After the discount it would be 137$ monthly.
This itself is a 52$ savings per month over 2 years. Which is 1248$ total in savings.
Provided you have to buy your phones separately it is still a good deal. My family all has smart phones of our individual choice, some that are not available on T-mobile.
I'm thinking about going to Tmobile also as sprint still doesnt have LTE. So if I get the value plan of $64.99 (500talk+text+5gb data) then I can go to costco and get the s3 for $350 correct?

390* but this is only an in store promotion so IDK if you can get in on the deal depending on where your at.
Also 5gb data is kind of a waste, I would sign up for the 2gb data unlimited for 10$ and edit the apn to keep getting unlimited data without throttling. But that's just me....
Good luck

Just as a note for those thinking about it... if you live in the area east of dallas, tx, tmobile service is the worst out of the four carriers. Bar none. Sprint beats them, Verizon and AT&T beat them without any effort at all.

Not a joke at all bud, if your making threats like "I'm leaving" when you call in, that may be the reason why? I've been a small business owner, and if someone has an issue, being polite could take them a long way with me. Not to say you haven't been, but I know a lot of ppl expect to just get what they want out of a business by yelling, especially when it's an over the phone situation, and not in person.
Tmo has done things that have just blown me away to keep my services. I'm positive that not everyone has had all great experiences with them, but honestly, in 10yrs they've always gone out of their way for me, while other carriers have barely ever ever been personable!

New TMOBILE Data Plan

Does anyone know about the new plan from Spe 5? I guess they will not throttle? So it said a 20 or 30 plan. So if they do not throttle, why not get the $20 2 gig? plan?

But there are still plans above that, for more money? There must be some catch or else everyone would get this new plan, and no other.
The "Unlimited" plan they're proposing doesn't include the tethering option. Rooted phones don't apply, we can tether anyways.
I'll be jumping on this, I just need to figure out what phone to upgrade too...yeah, perplexing questions.

The purpose of multiple plans is that there are some people that do not use that much data so why pay for it? I personally don't tether and was grandfathered in to unlimited data of 5 gb before being throttled. I am mostly on wifi all day so it doesn't count towards the limit. If you're not going to tether, then there is low risk of hitting that limit unless you're watching movies all day.

Okay, first thing i saw when looking at that link. was "DATA FEATURE" meaning something added to a base price of your minutes? I remember seeing something like this when 3G became popular on verizon's network. They charged like 30 bucks for your minutes and then 25 extra for data and 20 extra for MMS. It was a while ago, but it pretty much just splits up the fees. Like instead of one fee for everything they split it up. It looks "cheaper" that way.
But i do feel a little skeptic, as said before, there are more expensive plans than this, one would think they would make this the most expensive weather or not you had MobileHotspot option. Plus there is no fine print, im certain T-Mobile knows that you can have a rooted phone tether. However i do remember someone over on PPCGeeks tell me that the way they will block tethering is by User Agent. But i dont see that working because you can spoof a User Agent inside your mobile browser so that you can get the full website not the mobile version.
Unlimited T-Mobile data sure would make me consider getting a contract... Hell i KNOW i would get a contract for that. I use data like its nothing. Price you pay when your father is still using dial up
Well i just spoke to customer service and they didnt mention anything being "truly unlimited". I asked about it and she said i can only get the new 5gb plan bundle with mobile hotspot,Which cost 5 dollars more. So as of now if you want the upgrade any service you're forced to pay extra for something most people had for free.
Edit: well i just spoke to them about the the plan was able to switch. In all the I'm paying the same amount as I was before.

Is T-Mobile monthly 4g $70 plan unlimited now?

Today I was at a third party retailer they told me that T Mobile $70 dollar unlimited plan is truly unlimited but they cap the speed at 14.4mbps. Do anyone have this plan? Plus I have a couple pics!
I didn't know about the 14.4mbps speed limit, thank you very much for including that. But yes, it is unlimited which I don't think you can find on any other GSM carrier for a reasonable price (under $100). I was told by a T-mobile rep that I would be able to download 10gigs per day (or however much, used 10gb for example) 30 days a month. Talk about pioneering the industry! And if you don't use many minutes you can get the same plan with 500 minutes for $10 less. I hear an additional $5 less if you are affiliated with a business.
ol omsun
I had no idea if they capped speed. (Even though that capped speed is still pretty good enough for me)
Guess I gotta research this a little bit. I was planning to jump on this plan.

To be honest I was on that 70.00 plan up until last friday and TRUST ME it will cap at 5gb. I was on the walmart special 30.00 monthly tmo 4g plan (100mins/unlimited text/5gb) but i kept running out of mins thats why the last month i decided to try out the 70.00 monthly unlimited plan. Only tmo truly unlimited contract plans come with no cap. To be honest being a full time student i couldnt afford 70 a month so i started shopping around for other prepaid offers....I recently switched to solavei which is a Tmobile mvno company (they work off tmo towers, same towers your phone is connected to right now) I signed up monday received my micro sim card weds and the service is amazing I get faster download speeds with them then the actual Tmobile Monthly 4g plan Ive been on for the last 18 months!!!!.....Im currently using the service with a samsung galaxy s3....its 49.00 a month unlimited talk text and 4gb of internet....you also get paid, every three people that sign on under you, you wlll get paid 20.00 every month that they are active, payout comes on a prepaid visa card solavei sends to you. I havent received mine yet since I just activated. my google+ profile gives more info since ive been telling everybody about it. let me know if you have any questions
here is my google+ profile if you wanna see the speed test I have done since being on Solavei https://plus.google.com/photos/104158389637045624794/albums/posts/5808785640460793522
How sure are you that Solavei pays you $20/month for every 3 referrals. I'm pretty sure it's a one-time payment of $20 per every 3 referrals.
Even if they do cap it to 14.4mbps that is still plenty of speed to do anything on a phone.. You're really complaining about those speeds?? Where I live I'm lucky if I hit 100kbps as I'm on EDGE all the time. Be happy with your "4G"

I've done alot of research on it before I switched over and talked to people that have been doing it.....it is every month. Every 3 people is 20.00 a month and if they add 3 ppl you are also paid 20.00/month. I just received my Solavei prepaid visa card in the mail today. Link below gives you more details. I'm not sure where you're getting your info from but they clearly don't know what they are talking about.

I work for a T-Mobile corp Store and there is no speed cap on any of tmobiles plans only cap is how much data you get. The $70 M4G plan is unl talk and text and up to 5gb of data at as fast as your phone can go then it slows down to dial up or slower. Unl everything on a contract is $70 a month that is truly unl data no slow downs.

Considering you work where you do, can you answer me this? Does Tmo offer discounts to business owners? If so, what is the discount and can the discount apply to senior managers of the business?
It depends on the plan you get setup on but yes most if not all bus accounts gets more discounts then a personal account. You would have to call and talk to a bus rep and see what they can offer you. Most of the time it is on the plan only you still pay the same price on the phone that everyone else does. I am on vacation right now. Next time I work is Tuesday if you want to pm me some info on your bus I can pass it along when I work Tuesday.

How I got an early Nexus 6 upgrade with AT&T

Here's how I upgraded over 3 months early...
I went on AT&T's website and opened a chat window and said, "I'd like to upgrade to the Nexus 6 today and pay the 2-year contract price ($250). If you can't do this for me then I will be cancelling my contract today." I was told that I could not upgrade early and that I'd have to call 800-331-0500 (or 611 from my phone) and select the options for contract cancellation.
I called and told the woman "I'd like to cancel my contract so that I can switch to T-Mobile." And of course she replied, "I'm sorry to hear that. May I ask why you're switching?" I said, "...because AT&T is too expensive and I want to upgrade to the Nexus 6 and don't want to use AT&T Next." Then without any hassle, she offered to let me upgrade for the 2-year contract price. I went in fully prepared to pay the ETF since I thought for sure they would deny my request so they could stop my grandfathered unlimited data plan. She waived the upgrade fee, applied a $10 discount that I didn't know about, and even sent it overnight FedEx.
I'm sure you XDA experts have had better upgrade experiences, or maybe thought I got a bad deal, but I'm happy, and now hopefully now more people out there can upgrade early, too.
You got a 32gb N6 or a 64gb?

Well, you didn't really trick AT&T, they tricked you... After your 2 year agreement with them is over, they will make over $1000 from you, that's what you will end up paying for the $650 32 GB Nexus 6....

I would've had to pay for monthly service regardless what company I went with. Anyway I'm OK with sticking with AT&T since their service is pretty good where I live and I keep my unlimited data.

If he has an grandfathered unlimited plan, that's pretty irrelevant

Tell me where else I can get an unlimited text/data phone plan from one of the big three (ATT Tmobile Verizon) for ~$70.

You pay the same every month regardless if you buy a phone or not if you plan on staying with your carrier for the two years of the contract.

So you are paying full price $70 x 24 months + the full price for the phone $650 = $2330.
While I pay $71 (after tax) x 24 months + discounted price for the phone $300 = $2004.
Looks like signing a 2 year contract with ATT looks better.

I routinely use 10+ GB of LTE/HSPA+ data monthly (Sometimes over 15. One month I used nearly 35GB.) and I've never been throttled.

Not for anybody I know that have T-Mobile.
I bought mine from T-Mobile out right and use it on cricket with 20gb's of data for 55 a month. Yeah its throttled to 8mbs down but I have that everywhere I go.

I got the 32 GB from AT&T, as well. I don't think AT&T are offering the 64 GB.

tmobile throttles the limited data plasns, but it doesnt cut them out or charge you more. but their unlimited plans are actually unlimited, unlike other carriers. last month i used 39gb of data.

Thanks for letting me know guys
Meh never mind.
I'm happy that you got what you wanted, but with such a steep subsidize price I oppted for the 24 month financing and paid 0 down and only raise my bill by $22 per month. I think it's a win win either way, but my rule of thumb is if you've got to pay more than $150-200 then you're better off going the payment route if you have the 10 GB data plan or higher which I do.

But if you look at the promotion it's $325 back over 24 months while you are spending $70 / month on their unlimited plan. Compare that to using that same phone on Project Fi at $20 / month plus $10 / GB data, money back if you don't use it. Quick calculation means you'd have to use 3 GB data or more to break even with the T-M plan. If you're a heavy user perhaps it would pay but for the casual wifi user it doesn't make much sense.

TBH project fi has is uses and its customer base but its not for everyone. While switching between lower tier tmo and sprint networks you get pauses and breaks. While on sprint its really bad. Thats just my opinion.
Especially good for exsisting Tmo customers wanting a Pixel anyways now get money back.
Personally Im on Cricket. But its a good option for those that think its Verizon exclusive and cant be used on Tmo networks.
Besides its good for Pixel owners, more pixels means more accessory support!
