Hello guys ! how much does it take to charge Note4 ? I plugged my device when it was 18% and only one hour needed for full charge (no fast charging) and it drains very fast, device is not rooted, charger is original
it takes about one and half hours to charge through the original charger with out fast charge if the device isn't in use
and it around 2 hrs to charge if it is in use

Battery life is terrible at normal usage, unplugged this morning and dropped from 100 to 75 in hour at standby, what the hell is wrong with this thing
your battery must be deffective, I got 10-11% overnight when out of the box, after rooting, and cuatomizing, my batt consumes 4 to 5 % overnight in standby, wifi off data off in about 6 to 7 hours, using greenify, amplify , controlling autostarts, and removing bloat, I mention overnight, because in the day Its highly variable how I use it, if your batt last a few hours in standby, take it to your OFFICIAL vendor/carrier to claim warranty, I did it once, with a Nokia N95, and got a New one, luck man?

I've been slowly draining my G1 since yesterday, with wifi on and auto-check email every 10 minutes. It lasted almost 24hrs before 2%.
I noticed it slowly went to 2% around 12pm today and at around 5:30pm, it finally shutdown. That's almost 6 hours using the last 2% of battery. I did check battery status a few times and also checked websites/market for a few minutes during the last 2%.
Is this odd? Should I wipe my battery stats? It doesn't seem calibrated to me.
Does it happen often that it hangs at 2%, if so wipe the stats and drain and shut off and recharge. Could just be the new battery breaking in.

When you wipe stats you should let the battery die out then fully charge to 100. You should be happy you get so much time out of 2% though
Actually this has happened to me, it seems that once the phone enters the 5% range, it lasts just as long as everything else put together.
i wish i were that lucky to claim any of these things. My phone under very very moderate usage lasts about 2-3 hours from fully charged. It has been like this for a while and the ROM i'm running now is just making it worse. if i dont touch and send a couple texts messages it'll last up to 4 hours but that's it. I'm going to reset the stats and see if that corrects it before i go and buy a new battery.

Which is weird because using the stock battery I can get 12+ hours with moderate usage, this includes browser and wireless tethering.
I've been recharging it for a few hours now. The phone is off. It'll charge for another 10 hours before I turn it on.
Should I have wiped battery stats before I started charging? Or can I just wipe it before I boot up Android?

I guess wiping them at full power wont hurt, but then you must then let it fully die again and recharge it fully.
I just unplugged it from the charger. Booted into recovery, wiped battery stats, then rebooted. It now says it's at 87%. Somehow it took 13% to do those 2 things.
Hrmm, your battery life shouldn't be that bad, custom rom or not. Did you overcharge your battery? That seems to be a common cause for poor battery life.

How do you overcharge it? Shouldn't it stop when it think it's full?
This morning I used 'battery info' in the settings area and it only said the voltage was 4.05v or something and at 91%. This was for at least 9hrs with phone off and using HTC usb charger. I plugged it back in, while the phone was on, and it charged to 'full' in 10 minutes.
I'm recharging with phone on now tonight. I'm also currently using my motorola razr usb charger. It seems to charge faster than the HTC usb charger. It's voltage is now 4.15v and 61% now.

How do you overcharge a battery? If you mean leaving it plugged in long after it's fully charged, that is such a common thing to do it seems like lots of people would have battery problems. Almost everyone I know plugs their phone in before bed, and unplugs it in the morning. Most phones are fully charged in under 4 hours, so that leaves roughly 4-5 hours of being plugged while already fully charged every single day.
Well I'm basing that claim off of a t-mobile rep (hahah reliable isnt it?) who told me that overcharging the battery, or keeping it plugged for the majority of the day (which is what i tended to do) could harm the battery, causing it to give off false percentages or making it unable to hold a charge.
And also, from personal experience, my battery did begin to bulge outwards, and would not hold a charge for more than 4 hours. So I just assumed it was because I had a tendency to plug my g1 in when it wasn't necessary, and keep it charging. So perhaps my previous claim wasn't so well supported. I just based it off of my experience and what the reps told me.

lol haha that sucks
since i download a font pack, keyboard skin and better keyboard once my battery hits 10% it usually dies within 5-7 minutes if i have swift running in the background
but before the most recent updates my battery would last about a hour or more with just swift updating in the background and the music player on pause
I have had my S2 for about 4 weeks now. The internet at home conked out so I have been using the the wifi sharing feature on the phone a lot - like 4-5 hours each day for the last ten days, and since this feature eats up battery real phast, its been sitting on the charger for most of that time, and then some more.
Now since the last two days, the phone doesnt charge anymore. In fact it drains battery whilst connected to the charger. The battery lasts about 2-3 hours now with moderate usage. I managed to get it to full charge when it was switched off and charged overnight for 6 hours. I've attached the results after that full charge
This is after the phone was plugged in for about 20 minutes. If you notice on the right side, the battery is draining while its plugged in!!!! The big drop was reading and sending a few emails, reading some news etc.
I installed some battery monitor apps from the market and they showed the battery being in good health. Any suggestions ?
Try recalibirating it..
let it run down completely and full charge ( don't use when charging) then use until almost dead again ( don not use charger in between) and full charge again.
Seee if that helps or go get a new battery :/
So after a bit more testing, I notice the phone charges at a normal rate when its switched of.
However when its running, then it doesn't charge at all, and over time drains battery, but does drain slower that it would if its not charging.
So one of two options
a) Battery's charge capacity is severely depleted, and is not able to hold much charge. However this battery is less than 4 weeks old~
b) There is something that is absolutely devouring the battery. (screen is what shows up us having used 60% of the battery)
If its battery, will it be covered under warranty? If its something else, how do i fix it. I'm still on 2.3.3 but this seems a bit extreme for the AOS or WIFI bug.

So thats pretty much what ended up happening, it died completely, had to charge it overnight to full charge...and still only lasted a couple of hours.
My guess is that the constant load on the battery running a hotspot has hooped it. Might get warranty support if you don't disclose how you were "abusing" the battery.
Cheap temporary solution is to buy a set of cheap knockoff batteries from Ebay, less cheap is to spring for a genuine Samsung unit. Long term solution is to get your home internet working again.
First step would be to backup all data and factory reset .
That fails i would return under warranty .

Just an update - I removed all the widgets from the home screens and its actually charging now I had the AP widget, the stock price, accuweather, a few widgetdroids, flashlight, photo frame, espn news, touchdown calendar and pulse.
Its not even a month old... and runs pretty damn hot as it is, I dont want to take a chance by using a cheap battery. If i have to, I'll buy an original.
But as far as abusing the battery - its should not be any different than running your laptop plugged into the charger at all times right - how is that beyond normal usage?
After it charges up fully, lets see how long the battery lasts in this 'lite' mode.
Just an update. I'm not sure if was the recalibration suggested by tfn, or removing all the widgets, but i went from losing full charge in 2 hours to losing charge at a rate of 2% per hour under heavy usage!
This is crazy - i think those widgets are taking up way more battery than we think.
Hello Experts,
I received a new nexus 4 and noticed that it takes around 3.5 to 4 hrs for complete charging from 5% to 100%.... is it normal? my other sony xperia seems to be charge in about 1..5 hr
since i am new to Nexus 4, not sure what is the avg charge time and should i call for RMA? Please let me know what is the avg time for charging.
thx
Ganu
Perfectly normal. You want a nice slow steady charge, especially in a sealed phone. The battery needs to last as long as possible. Fast charging batteries significantly reduces their lifespan. My old Nexus S takes the same amount of time to charge from 5%.. 3-4hrs or so give or take.. I still have the two year old original battery and it holds a charge just as well as it did the day I bought it. Meanwhile my 15 minute charge AA batteries I bought last year lose their charge in a week just sitting on the desk.
Mine is just about the same, but that's under use. If I don't touch the phone, it typically charges to 100% in about an hour.
And if it's through USB.. um.. more like 8 hours to fully charge.
Battery widget reborn (awesome app btw) says my phone usually charges in about 2.5 hours. This is on Qi though not sure about the regular wall charger.
2-2.5 hours for me on usb wall charger and Qi Orb.

From 2 hr 45 min (from around 12-15% juice left), my charge time has reached to 3 hr 30 mins now (i.e. from 1% juice left)... 14% juice wouldn't make such a huge difference so don't really know why it increased..

yes, this is one of the reasons i started this thread to understand what everyone is experiencing.... i called up the google customer support and they are ready to send in a RMA as it appears to be a higher side...
so let me know your thoughts guys...should 3.5 hrs charge time considered high and warrant a RMA? share your thoughts.
^ Hmmm.. I doubt if this would mean anything serious or worth RMA-ing. I can but I won't RMA my device because it's been exceptional so far. I am fairly happy with it and wouldn't want to get it replaced with a defected one.
Its perfectly normal especially from around 5% to 100%.. In my experience if you dont let it get below 20% it usually charges faster. I wouldnt RMA it especially if your phone is perfectly fine in other aspects.
I tried with a different charger yesterday and it took similar time. The charger has same voltage input levels.
You charge 3 hours, for only double the lifetime. How pathetic, actually. I didn't thought that the battery life would be that bad. I can hardly make trough 1 day, if I play some games, make some calls, and use a little bit of internet. On the last charge I got 4Hours of screen on time with 15% left.
Gosh, at least it's fun to use it. :/
Help guys, my battery drains so fast. It charges so fast also drains so fast like 1 hour and 35 mins of usage and its dead. Then when I charge again it instantly goes 40%+ again even though my battery just went 0%. I tried many roms, kernels and chargers. No hope
I have same issue it even sometimes charges very slow and when its on charger and I'm using my phone battery drains.
Is this a problem with battery or my phone?
* I use stock charger and OTG

I have a used Note 3, one year within my posession (I'm thinking this here's 1.5 years old.) I think it's a problem within the BATTERY itself. Fortunately, spares are fairly easy to find and for cheap. I tried another battery and it gave me 3+ hours screen on time consistently no matter the usage when the original battery could barely eke out 2.
I used samsung fast charger for 4 months and battery life was all good , then i lost the charger so i had to charge the phone with a "not so fast charger" that took ages to charge my phone.
Never charged to 80% , and battery drain was serious.
That's when i got worried that the charger ive been using might have destroyed my battery.
So bought the "turbopower 15" charger for my MXP and at first it heated up my battery more then 60* (serious overheating issue)
After 2 or 3 charges i figured it only heats up after the percentage is 50% or higher or when i use it while charging.
And now it drain my battery like crazy!,
I just restarted my device into recovery right now and it was 45% but by the time i booted up to recovery it said 25%. How CRAZY DRAINAGE IS THAT??, Please devs help me.
Its like i dont need a stopwatch my battery drain a percent per second.
Im using purenexus 7.1.2 by @GtrCraft witb stock kernal

I was just using stock rom but the battery drain was still the same. I dunno if ive messed up the battery because of the "not orignal" chargers or whatever the reason is. I think the battery is now done for. I think Im just gonna sell this phone

I use tronsmart 3.0 turbo charger (backward capability for quick charge 2.0 devices). Battery life is good. I charge it when it hits 15-30%.
