hey, thanks for the guide. the link for the firmware doesn't work (anymore?). I did find http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/ however the firmware I downloaded only contains a md5 file and not the zip files shown in your guide.
Do you happen to have a copy lying about? Or do you know how to use the md5 file?

If you are saying that you have a single file with .MD5 extension if the file is of good size from around 100-120mb then you need to flash your device using Odin Multidownloader. All the steps are as same as i have shown but you dont need to select all that stuff i,e PDA, Bootloader etc in odin. Just tick the One Package in Odin Multi downloader and browse for your .MD5 file and click start. Thats It..!
Good Luck..

I've been trying to do this, but it seems the USB connection fails always when in download mode. I have tried multiple drivers, ports, cables, spinning around and tapping a table three times, nothing works, I read a post saying it could be windows 8 so I'm going to try it on a win 7 VM shortly. But otherwise I just can't fix it, device is always unrecognized when in download mode.

You can extract the kies installation package with 7zip or similar. Navigate to CabFile/USB Driver. Unarchive the cab package. You will get the USB drivers installer. Run this.
WHS ^^ Just done that on my win 7 X64 box. Works a treat

I've ran the installer however the device is still listed as unknown within windows device manager. I've also tried installing the latest version of bloatware kies and factory reset the phone. I've tried installing on both x86 win 7 & xp but the device is never recognised, I would put it down to the galaxy wire malfunctioning but it does manage to charge when plugged into the USB
Can anyone provide me with the specific drivers for galaxy S or know which of the folders within ..\SAMSUNG\usb_drivers\ is specifically for the galaxy?

This may sound extremely stupid, but make sure you are using the original cable that came with the phone, that sorted out all the problems for me.
I got mine today, fired up kies and found it horrendous so uninstalled it, I changed it to Mass-usb device from the settings menu, need to mount it but no other issues

<tut and solutions> help and tutorial for fascinate

look at bottom for screenshots
[/FONT]Well today i almost screwed up my phone. (now fixed)
so i decided i wanted to help out others in the same predicament.
1. alright so for people who have problems with odin
a. device not recognized. try reinstalling drivers and if on xp try to update.
b. if flashing process suddenly stops try to use same cable phone came with (for some odd reason it works only with samsung fascinate cables in my experience)
c. if a flash goes wrong. try to get into download mode, use usb jig, try to plug into wall, try car, different cables.
to use odin (hold down button on phone while connected after installing drivers herehttp://www.mediafire.com/?7946i8tdbe0yv50 )download package you want. look at screenshot itll look like that
connect your phone hit PDA and select what package u want.
then check repartition and use atlas pit v22
get this at second link
2. if that doesnt work try heimdall.
ill give a quick tut on how to use it.
first download it http://dl.dropbox.com/u/38077105/heimdall recovery.zip
extract zip to where u want
1. Put your fascinate into download mode and plug it in.
a. Run zadig.exe included in the Drivers subdirectory.
b. From the menu chose Options -> List All Devices.
c. From the USB Device list chose "Samsung USB Composite DEvice".
d. Press "Install Driver", click "Yes" to the prompt and if you receive
a message about being unable to verify the publisher of the driver
click "Install this driver software anyway".
e.run heimdall and youll see a black screen come up and disappear
f.run heimdall-frontend then select the corosponding files
g.put the corresponding files where they belong.
In Repartition:
PIT = atlas_v2.2.pit see below.
In PDA/Code:
FactoryFS=factoryfs.frs
Kernel(zImage)=zImage
Param.lfs=param.lfs
Primary Bootloader=boot.bin
Secondary Bootloader=slb.bin
In CSC:
Cache=cache.rfs
Database Data=dbdata.rfs
In Other:
Modem=modem.bin
Recovery=recovery.bin
go here for wanted heimdall package

[Solution] Android MTP driver install error with KIES 2.x I9100 (Galaxy S2)

Hi all,
Yesterday I stayed till 3 AM trying to flash the new firmware to my 9100, but KIES was so unstable that I decided to re-install.
We all know if we simply install Kies under XP, there is an issue with an Android MTP driver failing to install. No matter what you do, it won't install. This is the driver that Kies requires to work in order to sync contents and flash new firmwares.
After trying different options and settings, the solution is quite simple. Follow the steps (XP tested):
1.- Remove Kies entirely.
2.- Remove Samsung USB Drivers
3.- Reboot.
4.- Install latests .NET framework.
5.- Download and install latest Windows Media Player (ver 11 for XP). This is the key, since it installs a User mode driver framework used by Kies.
6.- Reboot
7.- Download and install latest Kies. Reboot.
6.- Plug in your phone. It will detect everything.
8.- Start Kies.
This should make it.
Hope it helps!
Cherni.
I had Rooted and Custom ROM-ed with AOSP GingerMOD.
Then when connected to PC via cable, W7 failed to install MTP driver.
Heres what worked.
Turn off USB Debugging on the phone. Reconnect via USB storage mode.
Voila!
Am not using Samsung Kies. so dont know whether it will work with the same trick.

He said version 11 for xp lol.
BTW, for those of you with windows 7 enterprise N - The "N" means no multimedia drivers, so media player would not be enough.
You need to download some 300+MB package which I don't remember the name. and then media player.
I meant W7!
Well I just tried this and it didn't work, am losing hope here...I already tried everything and nothing works

All this started when I updated from version 2.3.3 to 2.3.4 through KIES
Hi, were you able to solve? I'm stuck at the same point, tried almost everything and i'm still getting the MFT driver error with my Galaxy S 2.
OS is WinXP 32bit, I tried before with Kies version 2.0.3.11082_152_2, then yesterday with 2.0.3.11082_152_4, no luck.
I tried the suggested Windows Media Player 11 procedure, i did the whole process as written in the 1st post (installed .net 4, then WMP11, then reboot, then Kies, then reboot again) and it didn't worked.
Before that i tried with USB debugging mode, i tried following what Kies says (connect device, got the error, disconnect the device then go to "tool -> the crap that should be supposed to repair drivers but that truly does nothing", then reconnect the device just to get the error again), I tried a tool i found somewhere on the internet while reading HUNDREDS of pages of users having the same error (Samsung engineers, that means that you really SUCK!) "FileSearcherforKiesFix" to find files with long extension on my SD, deleted some files (was only some thumbnails), NOPE, still getting the same F****n' error
So, were you able to solve in some way this error? How?
Thank you for your help, and sorry for my english (i'm Italian).
and if that doesn't work...try a different USB port on your computer. I have found that only one of the 4 on my t410 thinkpad plays nicely with the samsung usb drivers...
having said that, i have sworn off kies entirely and will only use Odin,
I'm on the Galaxy SII and was having similar problems. Went to the samsung website, DLed the USB driver, then to get the MTP to work: Turn off Debugging, go into "wireless and network", then into USB Utilities, unplug usb, click connect to PC, then plugged it back in, and bingo, we have a winner.
I didn't read the entire thread to see if this method was already posted, to f'ing tired!
Hopes this helps.
edit: looks like Kragusk did a similar (exactly the same?) install. So yeah, what he said....
the fix
This fix for windows XP was discovered by a chap named Dennis.
The problem is caused by some drivers from WMP11 failing to install correctly.
(WMP11 contains the MTP drivers, nothing to do with Samsung or USB drivers)
You just need to re/install them
rename C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\wudfrd.sys xxx_wudfrd.sys
rename C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\wudfpf.sys xxx_wudfpf.sys
rename C:\WINDOWS\system32\wudfhost.exe xxx_wudfhost.exe
rename C:\WINDOWS\system32\wudfsvc.dll xxx_wudfsvc.dll
rename C:\WINDOWS\system32\wudfx.dll xxx_wudfx.dll
rename C:\WINDOWS\system32\wudfplatform.dll xxx_wudfplatform.dll
rename C:\WINDOWS\system32\wudfcoinstaller.dll xxx_wudfcoinstaller.dll
Then run this file (umdf.exe) found inside the windows media player 11 install
(Hint: download then open in winrar to find the file)
Sorry as a new person I can't post a hotlink to a file.

This not only cures Kies, but almost all other Media Player connection problems as well!
Kragusk said:
Go to Samsung Kies software, on top left of the window, click the menu > Driver recovery.
Let it reinstall drivers
After driver installation finished, go to your phone, Settings> Application > Development, tick USB debugging mode.
Under USB debugging mode connect your phone to the PC with USB.
It installs correctly!
Disconnect from PC
Untick USB debugging mode
Connect again
and it works!

Vega clone USB drivers problem (and bootloop)

Ok so i was running Vegabean beta6 on my ntt smartbook pad umts but it didn't work well so i thought ill install CM10.1 Build 15 rom.
And now im stuck on bootloop. After couple hours i have finally get into nvflash mode. But the real problem is that i can't install drivers.
Im runing on win 8 32bit and its still saying "unknown device"
I tried to install it manually, (Device manager-> Update software drivers -> pick path -> tegra tab 10 usb drivers)
But i keep geting "Windows can't install device 'Unknown device' "
I tried also this http://www.craftedge.com/tutorials/driver_install_windows8/driver_install_win8.html
But it didnt help, still have the same information.
Anyone know what to do? How to install them? Or how to flash my tablet...
Thanks for any help
And sorry for my english Hope u understood me
As I have noticed there are two kinds of USB drivers for this tablet.
Strange enough I need one kind for installation under WinXP and other kind for installation under 64bit Win7 (they were not interchangable!).
In driver's folders "amd64" and "i386" they both have the same content, but they totally differ in driver's root folder.
One has only "NvidiaUsb.inf" and the other has: androidwinusb86.cat, androidwinusba64.cat, android_winusb.inf and source.properties.
I know I got one from MoDaCo: http://www.modaco.com/topic/331467-...-rom-for-the-advent-vega-with-online-kitchen/
Or if you don't want to download that 97MB file you have here only the needed zip file: http://www.wuala.com/Cosmichyrax/Programas/ANDROID/r1-tegrausbdrivers-modaco.zip/
And the other from this site (it's the site for my POV tablet):
http://downloads.pointofview-online.com/Drivers/10 inch Tablet PC Firmware TAB-TEGRA-10-1 upgrade/
And the needed file is called "Tegra Tab 10 USB Driver.zip".
Both links found thru Google!

[Q] Missing CDC drivers

I'm trying to install Samsung mobile phone drivers but no matter what I do I miss these drivers when I connect my Samsung Galaxy Y:
CDC Abstract Control Model (ACM)
CDC ACM Data
CDC OBEX Data
CDC Object Exchange (OBEX)
I have googled for solution and I have followed recommended actions (install Kies, install latest drivers, reinstall all, use "have disk" method) on different operating systems (Windows XP, Windows 7) but I got no success.
My phone doesn't boot (I need to flash it with Odin) so I have tried it all in recovery or download mode but I understand it should not really matter as it's Windows issue, not a phone. I'm using original Samsung USB cable.
Could somebody with a working setup could check if they have above devices correctly installed and provide me more information on the driver file? I mean the information from driver details tab in Windows, ie. name of *.SYS file, *.INF file so I could at least check if I have a driver on a disk.
Any other suggestions also welcomed!
Kies is useless & is not required for galaxy y gt-s5360 as it's not supported for firmware flashing on this device so uninstall it
Uninstall any Samsung drivers you have installed from add/remove programmes
Goto my firmware thread at top of Dev section or link in signature
Download & install USB drivers on my thread
Download the firmware from my thread depending on region
Follow the instructions fully
You can manually install drivers if you wish by clicking on unknown device/device with yellow! click have disk & navigate to where you installed Samsung drivers eg c:/programme files/Samsung
It has finally worked (Windows XP)! I have just installed drivers and followed your instructions (with download mode, not recovery mode). Initially I had other unrecognized devices (very generic usb ones) but after a few attempts (usb plug out, usb plug in) the phone has been detected successfully and I managed to flash it. Many thanks!
Sorry, I forgot to mention. I had also removed a battery.
I have the same issue, Could you please paste the links for downloading the drivers.
