4GB ram
It was only in 2013 that we saw the first smartphone to feature 3GB of RAM, and while it’s not a standard yet, manufacturers have begun moving towards 4GB of RAM for their flagships. Xiaomi and ASUS announced the Mi Note Pro and the ZenFone 2 with 4GB of RAM earlier this month, and according to Korean analysts, 4GB of RAM could debut on Samsung’s smartphone lineup with the Galaxy S6 Edge. Samsung has always been at the cutting-edge of technology when it comes to hardware, and the company even started producing 4GB RAM modules for mobile devices recently, so it’s very plausible that we will see 4 gigs of RAM on Samsung’s next flagship.
According to the same analysts, the standard Galaxy S6 will only have 3GB of RAM, which means the Galaxy S6 Edge could have more than just dual Edge displays as highlight features. Of course, this is simply a prediction from the aforementioned analysts, but we would not be surprised if 4GB RAM does make its way to the Galaxy S6 Edge and consequently to the Galaxy Note 5 that is certain to launch later this year.
Samsung allegedly testing multiple prototypes of the Galaxy S6, some with curved edge screens
Samsung will most probably announce their next-generation flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S6 sometime in the first or second quarter of 2015. Earlier, we had reported that Samsung is building the Galaxy S6, codenamed as Project Zero, from scratch with a metal build, just like the Galaxy Note 4. Now, a Samsung employee, whose identity has been confirmed by a Reddit Moderator, has confirmed our reports about the Galaxy S6. Apart from confirming that Project Zero is a real thing, the Samsung employee (who goes by the name SamsungRep2015 on Reddit) also revealed some more important information about the device.
Samsung usually tests multiple variants of its flagship device before actually releasing them. According to the conversation on Reddit, it seems that Samsung is testing at least three variants of the Galaxy S6, one with a one-sided curved edge display, another with a dual-sided curved edge display, and one more with a normal display. Would Samsung release a Galaxy S6 Edge?
SamsungRep2015 said, “Project Zero is indeed a real thing. I’ve also seen two different GS6 Edge variants, one with the normal Youm display on the Edge, and one with dual curved edges. However, when I went to my orientation, a few weeks before the S5 came out I got to physically see the 5.2 inch version. Samsung prototypes a lot and things change extremely rapidly.”
“As far as performance, benchmarks are noticeably higher but not by earth shattering amounts. Overall device responsiveness is vastly improved, and memory consumption is way down. Some build have freed over a gig of memory consumption from cold boot,” he added.
“[It’s] not just specs Samsung is focusing on this time around. I’ve heard lots of rumblings about crazy new designs (and I’m not just talking Galaxy Alpha ‘redesigns’ either.) Spec wise though, that all lines up with what I’ve seen/heard, but again there’s quite a good chunk of time between now and April,” added SamsungRep2015.
The device is expected to feature a 64-bit Snapdragon 810 SoC or an Exynos 7 Octa processor and LTE Cat. 9 connectivity, as rumoured earlier. It seems that the performance of the device is noticeably higher than the Galaxy S5 and the memory consumption has reduced drastically. If this turns out to be true, it is possible that Samsung has been working on optimising and slimming down TouchWiz. It is being rumoured that the Galaxy S6 might feature a 20-megapixel camera with OIS and 4K video recording.

According to a Vodafone website, the S6 Edge will be called ‘Galaxy S Edge’
Numerous rumours and leaks have pointed at a dual-edged variant of the upcoming Galaxy S6 that could be in the works for a release later this year. Samsung’s first phone of this kind, the Galaxy Note Edge, was initially dissed by the critics, but the one-sided curve on the screen actually seemed to have caught the fancy of quite a few around the globe soon, and that’s maybe why Samsung isn’t afraid of investing in another phone of the like. According to a Vodafone website, the dual-edged screen version of the Galaxy S6 that we’re talking about — earlier believed to be the Galaxy S6 Edge — will be known simply as the Galaxy S Edge. Now, that might not make a lot of sense at first, but when you go to think of it, the Note Edge too lacks the ’4′ in the name, which suggests Samsung thinks of it as a completely different phone rather than just a Note 4 variant.

Sigh, another rehashed rumor: Samsung Galaxy S6 to reportedly be announced at CES 2015
This is one rumor that you should not take seriously at all, but according to the Korean media, the Galaxy S6 might get announced at CES in January 2015, alongside its curved screen variant (which might never make it to market.) Right off the bat, this seems like a rumor that has little chance of being true – we’ve heard almost every year that the next Galaxy S flagship is to be announced early, but until now, Samsung has always followed a strict schedule when it comes to taking the wraps off each new Galaxy S smartphone.
The report comes from Korean publication Chosun Biz, which cites analysts as saying that the announcement will come early. According to the same analysts, Samsung is aiming to sell 45 million units of the Galaxy S6, including 10 million units of the Edge variant. While that estimate might turn out to be eventually correct, it’s worth pointing out again that the Galaxy S6 will most likely not make an appearance at CES. It’s possible Samsung could make an exception this time around and actually announce the S6 earlier than expected, but unless really concrete info comes along, you should expect the announcement to come sometime in late February or early March.
UPDATE: We asked Samsung Benelux for their take on the rumor, and received a very standard reply that says “We cannot comment on rumors as off now.”

If you're going to directly copy paste off SamMobile, please be so kind as to just say so.

News bird said me sometimes it will have a non removable 2600Mah Battery.

It might be with 20mp and 5mp cameras HDR will better than all other Samsung models.

New Note??

This is an update I just got on the Galaxy Note Facebook page. Looks pretty frikin awesome.
https://www.facebook.com/SamsungGalaxyS3OfficalFanPage
picture is not an actual phone just something made up off this rumor:
Samsung may have only recently launched its latest Android flagship collaboration with Google, the Galaxy Nexus, but the push is reportedly on for the next big thing for the Galaxy line-up. According to a report straight out of Korea, the Samsung Galaxy S3 could be on its way to Mobile World Congress 2012 — and launch a few months later.
We had already heard that the Galaxy S3 would pack Samsung’s own Exynos 4412 processor, a 32nm quad-core chip based on the ARM Cortex A9 architecture. That’s a terrific boost in hardware over the Galaxy S2 and Galaxy Nexus, at least on paper — the jury’s still out on whether or not a quad-core chip is really worth putting in a phone or tablet when most apps aren’t designed with multithreading in mind.
It’s a necessary progression, however, when competitors like HTC are known to be working on similar devices. HTC’s Zeta is expected to arrive during the same time frame, and with Qualcomm promising that its Snapdragon S4 would be ready to power retail devices early in 2012 there will no doubt be other models on the way.
As for what else Samsung is going to cram into the Galaxy S3, the list of rumored specs certainly looks drool-worthy. In addition to the Exynos 4412, there could be a 12MP camera, 720×1280 Super AMOLED Plus display, LTE support, twice as much RAM as any current superphone at 2GB, and Android 4.0. Of course, until Samsung shows us something (or someone else gets their hands on one) we won’t know how closely that hardware lines up with reality.
Keep your eyes peeled for news out of MWC when its kicks off in Barcelona on February 27.

2 GB RAM Galaxy S III variant down the line?

Knowing Samsung's reputation for preducing the best Android smart phones and probably the best smart phones period for the period of their release, and how adamant they are about staying above the competition (Note: HTC One X), do you think we'll see one?
With LG producing the first ever smartphone with 2 GBs of RAM (double the average competitors software), therefore dethrowning them as the defacto best Android phone makers, and with newer hardware being utilized by Samsung's biggest rivals, Apple and their latest iPhone; do you foreseably see a rendition of the Samsung flagship phone before the year is up?

There is no doubt about that.If you remember Galaxy Note marketing strategy,Galaxy Note 2 to be expected to be announce very soon will be their new flagship, note 10.1 tablet benchmarks clearly shows better GPU Mali 600(5 times as powerful as the Mali 400 use in galaxy sIII),just imagine 5 times, there is no doubt that Note 2 will be launching with the same hardware.Note 2 is their next flagship(expected to be announced shortly). As for LG they are ready with A15 krait quad core with adreno 320 and is officially the most powerful smartphone out there, enough to put all these A9 quad core to shame(remember what dual core A15 did to quad A9,Tegra).Now it's up to you which flagship you want,as in android unfortunately every week will have a new flagship, specs and size going higher and higher.
Again, Krait is no A15, but QCOM's own design, with pipeline lengths and OoE somewhere in between of A9 and A15 (stock ARM designs). Then again Exynos is not stock A9 design, but optimized by Samsung.
So, we don't know till we taste the pudding.
Also, the timeframe for Note 2 (or whatever it will be called) announcement is somewhere in October and shipping probably in late November or early December.
That's a long ways away

How is that a long way,a flagship in July to be replaced by another flagship in October that's like 4months of flagship

competition is bigger , market will be changing every now and then. A 2 gb of ram dosent dethrow anything, eventhough 2gb sounds nice practically its of no use. Every flagship will be at their top for atleast a year as per their specs, you can expect the same for galaxy s3, its the best around now. If you need a bigger screen then go for Note or wait for Note 2.(assuming note2 wont have any significant changes)
Yes there are always next generation(exynos 5 series, quad core krait) waiting to demolish all the current lineups like s3,hox,etc etc but it wont happen for atleast a year. this will be the same in the feature but with the reduced time gap
The SGS3 in Japan actually has 2GB RAM.
http://www.samsung.com/jp/galaxys3/index.html?pid=jp_home_thelatest_main_galaxys3_20120515
It uses S4 instead of Exynos.
It's like a totally different phone with the name of SSG3 (in terms of hardware).
BTW guys, recent "leak" by Nordichardware suggests that Note 10.1 will have a Exynos Quad using Mali-T604.

Did you ever take in consideration that that might be a rumor? Or the over hype factor like what happen with the SGS3?
-1080P Screen
-1.5 ghz quad core
-12 mp camera
-2gb ram
Remember all that? I mean it's believable because LG is late tot eh party, but lets not forget that the S4 Pro hasn't even been found in a device and you think they're going to skip over that?
If it's true, I just want to believe it when I see clear and concrete evidence.

Yea, this graph is representative of the ARM portfolio. That dual-core Mali (year 2012-2013) was projected for a device in the entry-mid range level. If some company releases a phone in the entry level with Mali400 MP2, I think it's quite acceptable in 2012.

BB AMOLED and Exynos :(

Sad news...
Yes you just read the title of this message right. Our insider just gave us the first official “unconfirmed” specifications of the next generation Galaxy S, the Galaxy S IV. The Galaxy S IV will no longer use the Samsung EXYNOS processor and according to the latest rumours this processor has overheating issues. Today we can confirm Samsung will use the Snapdragon 600 and it is clocked at 1.9 Ghz which is 0.2 Ghz higher than the HTC One. The Galaxy S IV will have 2 GB of RAM and will come in three variants 16, 32 or 64 GB. As the rumours earlier reported Samsung is going to use a Full HD display. The Galaxy S IV uses a 4,99″ Full-HD SoLux Display we have no information if this is based on LCD3 like the HTC One. But a couple of months ago we posted the first hint regarding Samsung’s LCD factory is ready to produce Full HD panels from early 2013. And we also know Samsung’s AMOLED factory does have many problems with the production of full HD AMOLED screens.
We also know more about the build and dimensions of the device. According to our insider the dimensions of the device are 140.1 x 71.8 x 7.7mm and the weight is 138 gram, the new Galaxy S IV will use a home button and will have touch buttons. If you look at the photo below you will see that it will be square formed again, so they dropped the Galaxy SIII design line. He also said the sides are made from aluminium but the back is still plastic which automatic hints to a removable battery which is good to know.
Yesterday we already found out that the Galaxy S IV will have a 13 megapixel camera. Some leaked photos created by the Galaxy S IV showed up to confirm that.
If our insider is right again this is a bad sign for all the EXYNOS and AMOLED freaks out there. Below a list of the confirmed specifications through us right under the specification list you will see the boot screen photo.
- 4,99″ Full-HD SoLux Display
- Snapdragon 600 1.9 Ghz
- 2 GB RAM
- 16, 32 or 64 GB
- 13 Megapixel
- 140.1 x 71.8 x 7.7mm
- 138 gram
- Home button with touch buttons
- Plastic back with aluminium sides
- Removable battery
- Black / White

Why do you even need 6 cores. Currently no app is using 4 cores anyway. It is a waste of time and money to have 6 core processor on a phone..

Exynos 5 Octa uses I think it was 4 low power cores and 4 high speed cores, so it's not a battery drain for low end tasks. (Octa = 8)
I will wait for official word on this, I can't see Samsung announcing the Octa this year, then not using it, it gives competitors a chance to trump it.
If they do use the snapdragon 600 it will be good because whist yes the Exynos is a good processor Samsung will not release decent documentation for it, so developers have a hard time getting AOSP roms working efficiantly, the Snapdragon range is completely open source so roms will work a lot better, and be easier to port. Exynos has already made developers leave Samsung devices.

doubt that, since they got LTE and exynos working together finally. but the snapdragon seems like a give and take situation. that octa looks like it'll be an amazing processor, but if it's a snapdragon then we can finally get AOSP working fine.
as for the LCD, that's gonna be a personal preference for everyone. I wouldn't mind either, but I'd miss the blacks on the LED. the color punch is really nothing, I set my display to natural.
but really, do we even need the octa now? these phones we have now are over powered. I run my note ii at 1ghz with 1 core enabled and notice no differences in day to day use (except video chatting, that requires at least two cores lol) . point is, these quad cores (by today's standards) are just too much, and kinda gimmicky. I don't think we'll need to see the octa for a good year or two.

Samsung have announced the Octa now, it won't be long before other chip manufacturers try to beat it, then Samsung's great idea will be old tech before it comes out. They have no choice but to put it in something if they want to make any use of it.
Btw we will get more details from Samsung on mwc starting tomorrow. Ill believe this only if it comes from Samsung. Whatever the processor or screen it has already been decided and s4 shoukd be in mass production right now.
《posted from s3》
I think that's nt true. Because making a SS on PS and open up that image on a phone and taking a photo in bad light conditions isn't too hard.
Actually, I think that phone is Xperia Z or LG Optimus and photo taken with a S3...
Next Galaxy S device(international version) will have Exynos Octa(5440 or 5410) or Dual(5250) with 5" FULL HD Super AMOLED Display. Why Samsung use another solution? I don't know any logical reason. Warming? Power consumption? Software based reasons? I don't think so. This is my two cents.
On the other hand, I think(I know, I used a lot -I Think-s)next Galaxy S device will have Exynos Octa, 2GB of ram, Mali T604 or T658 GPU, better camera lens(S3's sensor is good but lens is a bit deficient.), 2600mAh battery and also more durable chasis and screen. On software, Samsung will do wonders...
Edit: If I had gramatical mistakes, I want to say I'm sorry for that. Because Eng. is my 3rd language.
You obviously seem to have very little knowledge concerning technical product design. If it' physically impossible at the moment to manage the heating problems in this case, then in fact THIS IS a reason to kick the Octa processor for a Snapdragon...

I for one welcome Qualcomm in the international Samsung phones. Makes for a great if not superb aosp experience, doesn't it? Or am I being too naive?

This looks actually pretty impressive....its what the note 4 could/should have been in some aspects.
If available in canada with working LTE I could see getting one.
Never thought id ever be interested in a huawei device but they nailed it with this one

I have to wait for more in-depth reviews of the device, but I am seriously considering getting the Ascend Mate 7. I currently have a Note 3, and was hoping that Samsung would either increase the size of the Note 4 or release an updated version of the Galaxy Mega 6.3, but no such luck.
This video shows off the AM7 and it looks really nice. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ayYcVWO3yLI
I'm so jealous of those bloggers at IFA that got one.
Also, I wonder what kind of dev support we can expect here on XDA for the AM7.
Dev support is definately something I would take into consideration prior to buying.

Looking at the mate 6 forums there's plenty of support.
I'm also very interested in this device, owning an note 3 and seeing how the note 4 is a big letdown I'm considering upgrading to this.
This phone looks great! There will always be the people that dislike this and the other Mates for their mid-range specs, but this phone is mostly for battery life. I have a Mate2 and I can get 2-3 days on one charge easily.
Also, we just achieved root today! Sadly Xposed doesn't completely work, along with Viper4Android.
As for dev support, the original Mate has a number of ROMs up, but the Mate2 has nothing. Again, we just got root very recently. Another reason why is most likely because no one knows about this phone. Maybe the Mate7 will bring new developers and users. And if that happens, I hope the Mate2 gets the same treatment.

There is no Mate6, unless you mean the Ascend P6?

Ahh, my bad yes that one.
I hope the mate 7 will get cm. If it does it will be a blessing of a phone.
I would buy this right now for battery!
I'm currently using Nexus 5. I would really like to know if we would get stock rom on this. I really like the dual antenna and finger print setup. I think it will be challenging to get stock to working on those features.
Anyway I am still willing to buy it now. Any suggestions where would I get it?

Hasn't the Ascend Mate 2 been out since February? If it took this long to get root, that doesn't bode well for the Mate 7. I don't think I could wait half a year for root.

Yup, around that time but that was the Chinese/overseas model. It already got root and even an official KitKat update.
Our US model only started to get sold here back in July, I believe. So about 2 months to get root.
Mate7 looks like it will be a Bad ass phone, like to get my hands on one.....
If stock Android/root would be guaranteed I'd buy this the first moment I could get it.
Will T-Mobile LTE work on it?

Well if it was as easy as you just made it sound, why'd it take the other mate referred to in the other thread forever to gain root?
Guess I just gotta wait for someone to port stock. I could use a launcher I guess.

We didn't have the hw-qmonekeytool to get the 16 digit code needed for the Unlock of the bootloader to get root, now we do. Huawei is like HTC, as long as you have that code, you can unlock any Bootlader on any Huawei and get root.
I buy all my Huawei's direct from China (Better prices) Once the Mate7 is available (in the Configuration I need for FDD LTE) I will have it.

What's FDD LTE? Also, am curious how the octacore within the Mate 7 compares to other SoC's nowadays. seems like a low clock to me at 1.8, ya?

We use FDD LTE (Frequency Division Duplex-Long Term Evolution) here in the US they Use TD LTE (Time-division Long-Term Evolution) in China.
The Ascend Mate 7 features an octa-core (1.8GHz A15 + 1.3GHz A7) Kirin 925 SoC with Mali T628 GPU. While the 16GB variant will come with 2GB of RAM, the 32GB variant will pack 3GB of RAM.
That Kirin Chip is bad asssssss

lol, I didn't need you to rehash the specs. Just wanted to know if there's comparisons to the other flagship SoC's out there.
So if I purchase the mate 7, is it gonna be compatible with At&t or T-Mobile's LTE?
And any words of availability?

[Discussion] New Samsung Galaxy S6?

It’s 2015 and hence time for a new Galaxy S Series flagship from Samsung. In earlier reports Samsung has claimed that it will completely change what we have witnessed in the Galaxy S line so far, starting from scratch there will be an all new Galaxy S6. As it goes for a Samsung flagship, the specifications that the Galaxy S6 will hold will be nothing short of impressing but the dream to get 4 Gigs of Ram isn’t just here yet. The Galaxy S6 is already cooking up and not a long time back arrived in India for R&D purposes, hence our sources have managed to secure some information on the specifications the flagship will boast.
These specifications are intended for the Asian units, that have since beginning relied on the Exynos SoC’s. The variants intended for the North American and European markets will be using a Snapdragon SoC’s instead (Snapdragon 810 Likely), while keeping the Ram, Display, Battery and undisclosed specs identical.
Also beside the already anticipated spec-sheet, the Galaxy S6 will be using a Metal Exterior (similar to Galaxy A Series) with a new much slimmer design. Stay tuned for more updates and feel free to share your thoughts about the next Galaxy S flagship.
SPECS:
5.2 Inch Quad HD Display (Amoled)
3GB Ram & 64GB Internal Storage (Micro SD Missing in test Units)
Non-removable Battery (2800mAh)
Exynos 7420 Octa-Core Processor (Dual Quad-Core)
Finger Print Scanner
Heart Rate Monitor
Android 5.0.1 (running units)
20MP Rear & 5MP Front Camera Unit
The specs are pretty much accurate (not very hard to guess as they've been predicatble for years.) but that picture/render is wishful thinking.
Aside from the fact that test units come in fake cases, as they've always done, these leaked images are always fake, every year in a row.

It's looking like this will fix all the wrongs of the S5:
Class leading CPU/GPU on 14nm
Premium metal build
Touch based fingerprint sensor
20 mp 2nd gen Samsung ISOCELL sensor with phase detect autofocus and OIS
The next evolution of AMOLED
I'll be all over this as long as Touchwiz is not a complete disaster
Samsung Galaxy S6 Specifications
Samsung Galaxy S6 may come up with a Exynos 7420 processor as Samsung may drop Snapdragon 810 due to heating issues. It may be announced at MWC 2015.

Here is the leaked design of Samsung S6
http://androidjail.com/samsung-galaxy-s6-specification-body-leaked/85
The quad hd is a mess . in normal use , practically you don't need it
This post is misleading about rumors
Do you think that will be hard to have bug free custom roms with the exynos cpu?
I'm looking forward to March 1st... there should be some pretty cool info at the unveiling.
I'm all in for another Galaxy, but all these leaks without a sdcard slot make me a bit nervous.
Don't give your hopes up guys and really don't put too much stock into all these leaks. For the last few years all the supposed reliable leaks have been wrong and Samsung basically reintroduced the same damn phone. Well their not getting me this year no more hurt feelings, so until I see add to cart next to a s6 picture the new s6 is the s5 with upgraded hardware
Moto X 2014
Prediction: S6 will be an uglified but high spec S5, much like the S5 was an uglified S4 with better internals. Add the new crown jewel Exynos SoC, revamped KNOX and Samsung's traditional hamfisted massacre of Android, and I further predict less dev support than ever.
hi
i phone 5 and s6 this kind of better, I want to buy either and are wondering
2800 mah battery? omg! why samsung not trying to improve battery performance? 2800 mah will be enough?
Thread Closed.
As we have multiple threads about the specifications of the S6, one official one has been opened here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6/general/specs-samsung-galaxy-s6-specifications-t3034238
