I have the 7" Tab 4 and am running rooted stock ROM. Have Titanium Backup pro, but there's no option to "move to SD" for any application, even ones I know can be moved to SD. Also, using the regular Android interface to move apps, sometimes they fail with an unhelpful error of "Unable to move app to SD".
Also, I tried to move my Titanium Backup folder from internal storage to the external storage. Moved it using ES File explorer to /storage/extSDCard/TitaniumBackup but TB doesn't detect it, and if I browse to it and set it as the folder, it tells me the folder is not writeable.
Have you applied the kitkat sd patch/fix and reformatted your sd? I cant remember what you need to format sd to as mine worked striaght out of its package on my tab s.

Applying the patch fixed part of the problem - TB can now write to the SD card. I didn't reformat - SD card was working otherwise and worked straight out of the box too.
Still no "move to SD" option (or the reverse) though.
Try folder mount from the play store
http://www.devasque.com/foldermount/index.html
That's has the download and has the [How to] and tips
You can use an app like rom toolbox or link2sd and it should let you move the majority to your sd card. Now some apps do not allow this period. Its how the dev had coded their app to work but if you try these it may help a bunch. I myself use the rom toolbox lite and have no problems at all!

Why don't I have 'move to SD' in my application settings ? hence doing a backup is useless & the only use for my SD is to copy files to it using any file explorer

Because this is not a phone. Tablets have plenty of internal storage (16 or 32gigs) and they place their data there because it's faster, less prone to corruption and you can't remove it so there is no need for APP2SD and similar functions. I suspect that they'll remove the feature from ICS as well.
SD card is useful only for music and similar stuff but I like it because recovery doesn't wipe it so it's perfect if you don't switch music and other stuff on a daily basis.
yeah but how can I do backup of apps on SD so as to use it if a cooked rom is created for A501
on my HD2 I use titanium backup for this

titanium backup is working fine on my a500 w/ custom rom
when I back up it's placed in my internal memory
isn't it supposed to back up my system to my external card?? how do I fix this? Do I need to use another recovery?
I tried to look for my card using TWRP but I only see an empty folder named sd-ext but my sd card is called external_sd when using file manager
Is this normal for an A500?
Thanks in advance!

I really don't like necroing a thread, but this seems, too, relavent -- and someone may need an answer
I am using TWRP 2.1.3 right now (just installed it).
Apparently it places the backups on internal storage by default.
If you tap/select the 'mount' option on the main screen you can select that the sdcard be mounted.
You can also select whether to store backups on the internal storage or on the external card from here.
On the backup menu, you might need to tap/select 'refresh free space' or similar option.
Then select what you want to backup, and swipe to backup (as per on-screen instructions).

There's a app called (root) folder mount in market.Theres a free version or paid version.I use that to mount all my game data to my ext. Sd card. The free one let's you mount 3 folders, the paid let's you mount as many as you want. You can run it and go to app analyzer in it and it shows all the folders and how big they are.You click on what ones you want to move and it creates folders on ext.sd card and moves all the data.
It's very easy to use and you can swap out any folder you want.

Hello, thank for the answer, finaly i maked mount2sd to work i just needed to wait 10 minutes after reboot (its why i thinked it don't work itwas stuck at samsung logo)
But the problem is now the ext3 partition is hidden and don't appear in parameter/stockage but it work all data was moved in. Is there a way to make the ext3 partition visible in parameter/stockage? All partition is visible in titanium backup
Or i will try folder mount if it more simple, thank for the answer!
Have a nice day!
Hi Folks
Just recently brought a 64GB SDXC card for my S4.
with only a measly 9gb free space on the internal memory I brought the SD card to move items such as my nandroid and titanium backups as well as photos and other media.
I managed to move the nandroid backups ok however I also run a daily Titanium backup which still writes to the local memory. I have changed the path to point to a folder on the SD card but it fails to write to this area.
At this moment in time I dont want move Apps to SD just the other bits as this will allow me to recover about 3/4GB of space.
Does anyone know how I can force titanium backup to move or write new files to the SD card location?
Thanks
Follow this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2524277 to make your card writable, then copy your Titanium backup folder over, and run the Titanium to set the default backup location.
I'm trying to do the same by enable RW permission for the externalSD but ended corrupted my system/etc/permissions/platform.xml. Appreciate if anyone can send me the file.
Thanks.

Got the file from the previous link. Thanks.
I was recommended a app to download called FolderMount which would do this for me, I have to say since I have used this it found an issue with my SD card and fixed it automatically, then pointed Titanium back to the SD card and it now works fine..
Something to consider..
Hi, I'm not an expert about mods on phone but I try it..
I have got my Note4 in signature with root access and E-motion kernel r26 installed into phone. The firmware is the stock one "DPH1".
1)
I installed Link2Sd and I followed the guidelines for partitions (ext2, etc.) to install apps to sd.
Today I've installed Foldermount app to move Whatsapp in extsd and this app has formatted my ext partition with deleting of my apps.
Therefore can't Link2sd and Foldermount operate together?
2)
How can I know my sd class? I tried through Sd tools but when you want test the sd card you get an error writing buffer.
Thanks for your helps..
