My device is on the factory ucuamdl bootloader and I was using SkyFall rom SF_UCUFNI1 for some time without any problems. I always use GoogyMax3 TW kernels flashing with Phliz touch recovery. A couple of day's ago I wanted to try a Ktoonsez 4.4 TW kernel and while flashing it the android guy with tools coming out appeared in recovery then I re-flashed Googy and rebooted the phone. When I try to get into recovery I only get a black screen and the battery keeps vibrating over and over. However I can get my device into download mode and tried flashing my factory AMDL using Odin 3.09 to try and reset everything. It say's that everything passed in green and reboots but Samsung's logo doesn't appear on screen with no os starting up, it's all in black showing nothing. However while in download mode it still reports that my system status is custom and binary is Samsung official. Can anyone please help because I'm at a lost with this.

Ok, it doesn't sound good but a couple of things, do you have a link to the ktoonsez kernel you flashed? Also, have you tried re-downloading the mdl firmware and trying that. The good news is you can still get into download mode

That looks like it's for the s3 not the s4. It's never good to flash a kernel not for your device. I would try Odin again but flashing a kernel not for your device almost always bricks it. You'll probably have to check out mobiltechvidoes.com. They can jtag it.

Also, after flashing a custom ROM and getting stuck in the bootlogo, sometimes you need to flash the loki-fix (search for it) to fix this. Then the ROM works.
If ever in an inescapable bootloop and there's no custom recovery, then you'll need to download your stock firmware and stock kernel and use Odin to flash the firmware first (in download mode), then the kernel second (also in download mode, after a reboot), and then once you're up and running you can use Motochopper to root the phone and then another tool to flash recovery (e.g. Canadiani337m_3way_tool).

Hey again! After I reflashed the Kernel Fix for my model. It seemed to be good, however it started doing it again! and it happens with every rom. Im sure I have the right kernel fix...
I have a similar issue, with any custom rom I can't load into the phone the first time, set up my phone etc. But if I reboot I'm stuck at the samsung logo. I've tried this most recently with cyangenmod 10.2, ikop, and kangabean and had the same issue. This is my first android phone and my first time trying this so I wasn't sure if I was doing everything correctly. When I followed the instructions for CM, it didn't say that I needed to reflash the kernal. Is there a specific kernal or can I use the stock? Also should I flash the kernal after I've installed rom and gapps?
I suppose if that doesn't work that I'll try the loki-fix.
So I rooted my sprint s4, following these instructions:
http://qbking77.com/development/how-to-root-the-sprint-and-international-exynos-samsung-galaxy-s4/
Which worked great. Then, I followed these instructions for the hotspot modification:
http://qbking77.com/development/how-to-get-free-native-wifi-hotspot-on-the-sprint-samsung-galaxy-s4/
I was running the MF9 firmware, so I used that. I made a backup of the two files before copying the new ones over. I reset it, and it stopped on the sprint screen, so I followed the unrooting instructions here:
http://qbking77.com/development/how-to-unroot-and-unbrick-the-samsung-galaxy-s4/
Now, my wifi isn't turning on. It flashes for a second, then disappears, showing a "The device has detected an application attempting unpermitted actions and has stopped loading. To protect your device, it is recommended you reboot." alert.
The backups I made weren't there, so I assume it rebuilds those files. What do I do? I've tried factory resetting, but nothing has helped so far. I've read a few forum postings but they seem to all revolve around issues with new roms. I only used the stock one, so I'm not sure exactly what to do.
So, can anyone help me out? I'm not too far into these things, so easier instructions are better.
That alert is because you have Knox installed and rooted. You need a root browser and go into the system/app folder and delete the two files that begin with the name Knox.

So to do that, I'd use the odin program? And where do I get the different kernel?
To be honest you shouldn't be flashing if you don't fully read and learn before getting a rooted phone. Kernels are in the original development thread.
And you flash the kernel zips in a custom recovery.

I can't find any instructions on how to install that kernel, since it's a zip instead of a tar so I can't use odin. Everyone just says "use recovery," which doesn't help me at all, since I don't know what that is or how to do it. I've tried a few other kernels I've found on xda, but none have fixed it.
Flash custom recovery tar thru odin, theres a couple threads in development section with different recoveries...then simple flash kt kernel zip thru your new recovery ( you can access your new recovery by booting up the phone and holding down the volume down button)...I suggest you learn how to back up and restore your rom b4 trying this

Hmm weird, well here update to the newer update to this for here. Will be a pain in the ass but believe me this will solve all your problems.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2375523
Flash that in Odin and make sure you just get the huge file that's the only one you need. Extract what is inside and you will get a .tar.md5 file. Next do a factory reset of your phone. Boot into download mode. Flash that file. If you get any errors just delete the .md5 extension and reboot your computer and try again. Once done, it should boot will take awhile no more than 10 mins. If it doesn't boot take off battery and boot into recovery. You should stock recovery with the little green dead android. Its OK don't freak out just do a factory reset and reboot. Once that is done.
Download either odex or deoxeded tar file which ever you want here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2357471
Once that is done you can flash that through Odin and you should be rooted and updated to the latest version.
You can also download twrp recovery here
http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/jfltespr
All versions there. You can download stabled twrp 2.5.0.2 or download the newer one 2.6 0.3 as people have said it has been working for them and there you go. Its a lot but it gets the job done and all your problems go away.

No, I mean wifi at all. Also, I just noticed when I insert a microsd, it says it's safe to remove immediately. Loading from the SD card on recovery works though.
And I doubt sprint will help me, I've had the phone for a while and they wouldn't do anything for issues with my last phone, since it was the 15th day I had it. If I send it to samsung with the stock recovery, kernel and rom, will they be able to tell?
So, first, I'm running the stock 4.2.2 rooted on the ATT SGH-I337.
I installed ROM manager shortly after the root, and recently downloaded CM 10.1.3 for the att model of my phone. However, I couldn't find it in the recovery system to flash it. So, I install goomanager and flash over to TWRP, thinking maybe TWRP's easier interface will help me to find it. I reboot into recovery, and if I attempt to enter recovery mode, it gets stuck on the "Downlaoding, do not turn off target" screen. So, I re-flash CWM back on it, and reboot to recovery, and get stuck on that same screen again. If I just boot it, it's fine, jumps right back into 4.2.2 TouchWiz rooted. However, as you probably know, I can't install a ROM without recovery mode, and stock TouchWiz is poo.
I'd like to get CM running asap, although I'm just glad my phone still RUNS for now (my experience installing CM on my S3 was a NIGHTMARE).
So yea, any reason I would be getting stuck on that screen and unable to enter recovery? Like I said, I'd like to have CM as soon as I can.
Also, if someone can link me to a guide to install through CWM w\o needing a computer, that'd be wonderful. Thanks!
I'm assuming you're running on the MF3 build version. Read up before you brick your device. Your only option for a custom recovery is safestrap. Come on people.
Cheers.

You never saw twrp. You saw the stock recovery. Mf3 won't allow a custom recovery.
Edit, you did see an i337 in the you tube vids, but it had mdl or mdb firmware. You can put a custom recovery on with them. Unfortunately it's not possible to downgrade the firmware.

Also, I may have been in stock. I don't remember EXACTLY what clockwork looked like. I just know it wouldn't let me select the gapps and CM files, which is why I tried TWRP. Though I did have CWM recovery flashed when I booted it into recovery those several times.

Do I have to wipe the phone again and reinstall the stock firmware first?
Hi everyone,
I am new to android mods and such and I may very well sound like an idiot. However, even though I know little to nothing of what I am talking about I am in dire need of help. I never did any heavy modifications like custom ROMS but I merely rooted it and installed some tweaks via the xda installer. After toying around with one of the tweaks I seemed to cause an annoying random reboot which would happen when I would sometimes go to unlock my phone. Fine, I could deal with a few reboots here and there. However, my phone recently got stuck on the AT&T loading emblem and stood in my pocket for 2 hours draining a lot of battery and has not been resolved since. I am unable to enter safe mode and I tried a few guides to flash it to stock but I honestly have NO IDEA what I am doing. I am aimlessly following guides here but there is so much variability therefore I feel as if I would have the most success with personalized help.
What do I do? Please use simplified terms along with (relatively) full steps. For example, if I were to flash something I would go into recovery mode with home + vol up button factory reset, and the AT&T logo would still be there, frozen.
Things I have tried but have probably done wrong:
Factory reset
Install custom ROM
All and ANY help is appreciated at this point, I am desperate.
Thank you,
Suprr
Also, my ultimate goal is to install http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2520418 this mod, or at the very least get the stock ROM working so my phone is usable.

I am assuming that you havent yet taken the OTA update to NB1 and your base is MK2. Or, do you have a MDB/MDL bootloader?
If MK2: You have to flash the full stock Mk2 firmware using odin. Download the "Full odin tar files" from the All things ATT thread
if MDB/MDL: Download the stock firmware from sammobile and flash using Odin.

He must have determined you are not on mdl/mdl firmware. Those firmwares would allow you to easily flash custom roms, nb1 is not as easy and limited to touch wiz based roms. Do you know if you had a custom recovery, twrp or cwm?

I am flashing it right now. Let's hope it works.
EDIT:
Flashed the full tar version for mk2 to no avail via Odin
Flashing the MK2 full tar file from here in Odin 1.85 says it was successful (green box) and when I went to restart the phone it was still stuck on the AT&T logo.
I flashed from this thread and this line:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2700726
To return to factory stock MK2 flash the I337_MK2_Full_Odin tar

Boot into recovery and do a factory reset. That should get you past the bootloop
Ps, the first boot is going to take longer than normal. Give it a good 10 minutes

You're on mk2 firmware now. You'll need to root it using safe root and then put safestrap on in order to flash that rom. Look in the general forum for index, all thing mk2 and nb1. There's a lot of info there so read it carefully
