Hello
Since the release of kitkat I haven't been able to able update my device and I still have 4.3 version of android on my Note 3 SM-N9005.
Whenever I check for updates it says I have the latest and with kies it says the same thing or says SM-N9005 won't initialize. I heard that I can update manually with odin but I had some questions and fears:
First of all will flashing with odin trigger my knox counter and make it 0x1? I have the Knox app too and working with it keeping my secret information in it.
The other and the most important problem I have is that which frimware should I download? my baseband version is XXUBMI6, and my region (which I checked it from /system/csc/sales_code.dat) is XSI. I am a bit confused with all this stuff and don't know what to do
Thanks in advance for your help please tell me what to do.

1. Flashing the correct firmware for your device via ODIN DON'T trig KNOX counter. Be relaxed.
2. One of the best method for know your CSC (code of country) is rebooting in STOCK RECOVERY and look close the text: "Applied the CSC-code: XXX" like in the pic attached.

- Flashing the stock firmware via Odin will not trip the Knox counter, nor erasing your data.
- To find and download the correct firmware for your device:
Open Phone INFO ★Samsung★ app > Menu > 'Firmware Browser'.
The latest one will be on the top of the list.

Flashing a stock firmware via Odin will not erase your apps.
I personally doesn't face with wifi and cell connection.

Hi everyone,
first of all i hope it`s not a double thread, I could not find any BTU discussion of 4.3.
I`m getting really lost in this OTA / Kies compatibility over here..
My S4 was rooted now I`m trying to restore it to official state to make it OTA update compatible again.
The phone was bought in UK, GSM phone.
There was a matching firmware, which should be compatible for updates here, but i keep getting the same "Your firmware is not supported..." error message again and again.
Details:
AP: I9505XXUEMJ7
CP: I9505XXUEMJ7
CSC: I9505BTUEMJ8
Current binary: Samsung Official
System status: Official
Later on 2nd try:
AP: I9505XXUEMJ7
CP: I9505XXUEMJ8
CSC: I9505BTUEMJ8
Current binary: Samsung Official
System status: Official
So far after trying to help my problem with Google all I got, that I9505XXUEMJ7+I9505XXUEMJ7+I9505BTUEMJ8 is the latest official state and BTU is for the UK.
If someone could explain what is wrong here, I would be very happy.
Thanks.
Thread says the same, that I`m using the correct version
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2265477
Is my question so stupid or is it an unique problem that I have so no one will reply?
Maybe I'm missing something here but have you reverted to stock, stock recovery and Triangle Away first. You cannot receive OTA updates or Kies if your device is rooted or has a custom recovery etc...
Yes, Triangle away done, stock rom, stock recovery.
Cool, is BTU the correct firmware for you? Are you on a different carrier there? Can you flash the stock ROM you want through ODIN? (gotta run for lunch but I'm sure someone better than I will help)
restock
put phone into download mode
open kies select firmware upgrade initialisation
enter model number and serial number in capitals
make sure both are correct you can find it on the box or under the battery.
Thanks everyone, I`m gonna do it all over again this evening. BTU is correct for me, its unbranded gsm unlocked phone from UK.
Edit: Boring day in job here.. redone the whole thing and it works now.
Thank you everyone, again.
Samsung Galaxy S4 I9505 Original
I am having the problem of not seeing the option in Network menu to enable 4G/LTE. I am running 4.3 right now. Our service provider Ooredoo in this country (Maldives) has released 4G and several others with the same model phone as mine can switch to 4G. I was wondering if there is any fix for this. I did hear about rooting the phone and deleting a file to fix this problem. I can't find out which file. and I have already downloaded a 4.3 firmware that said would fix the problem and flashed it. But there is no change.
And I am looking for the 4.4 Official Firmware for Galaxy S4 I9505 which can be used in my country.. Maldives.
And also is it possible to Downgrade the phone back to 4.3 after I flash 4.4?? From what I know so far it isnt.
I will post more information about the phone soon. Don't have it atm.
Thanks for any help you guys can provide.

Alright so I was directed to a firmware on Sammobile
/firmwares/3/?download=27582
Model: GT-I9505
Model name: GALAXY S4 LTE
Country: Unknown

Product Code: OMD

Only thing who scare me is a triggering knox.
I have problem whit active memo and direct pen.
When i flash second FW and root he functional normaly. Instal xposed and wanam xposed working good.
But when i install adaway, lg g3 keyboard and some aplication then my active memo and direct pen stop working.
This is second time i reflash other FW
I know some will say dont instal this conflict apk but i dont know what app in future may couse problem and i dont have to return backup.
I cant reflash any time when i get problem.
What in you opinion is good FW to flash ?

Sorry, my english is not so good, because now I'm a bit confused. Earlier you were saying you want to try TowerRoot ?
and now you are sayin that you have root already, with a working xposed & wanam ?
So, basically, you have a rooted firmware already ? Then why do you need TowelRoot ?
Isn't it if you have working root on KK (existing firmware), means your KNOX tripped ? Because if it does, reflashing firmware / rerooting with TowelRoot won't help your KNOX warranty bit.
But, answering to your question, flashing original firmware won't trip the KNOX (if your KNOX still 0x0), bcause, KNOX will only trip if the system being injected / flashed with 3rd party system file which is not digitally signed by Samsung.

u r welcome
So I have checked far and wide across the net as to what I am suppose to do. First of all here is my device info:
Bootloader version: I337UCUEMK2
Baseband version: I337UCUEMK2
PDA version: I9500XXUEMJ9
CSC version: I9500XXUEMJ9
Product code: Not Active
Phone Model: GT-I9500
Build number: ORG.I9500XXUEMJ9
Modem Board: MDM8215M
Android Version: 4.3
I would like to update to KitKat 4.4.2 as I checked sammobile and there is a 4.4.2 firmware for my country despite not purchasing the device in my country (Jamaica). The dilemma I face though is that I'm not sure if it is a GT-I9500 firmware should be installed or a SGH-I337 firmware as you can see the bootloader is that of a I337 and the PDA version is I9500. Also would it affect me if I flash a different firmware from the one I have. I've tried updating through Kies but there is no update and I also tried OTA which proved unsuccessful as well as there were no updates. What should I do?
What is written in download mode? That's your phone model.

So I booted into download mode or odin mode and it says this:
Product name: SGH-I337
Current Binary: Samsung official
System status: Official
Knox Kernel: 0x0
Knox Warranty Void: 0x0
CSB-Config-LSB: 0x30
Write protection: Enable
eMMC Burst Mode enabled
How can the phone be an I9500 and then in odin mode say it is a SGH-I337. Also of note when I tried updating via OTA it was the AT&T update checker came up and said there was no update. Was it that the phone was flashed with an AT&T rom?
Any updates for this? I suffer from the same problem. Thanks!

It's not really a problem. My guess is that you are running a custom rom where someone just edited the device info to a i9500. Or you are running stock but someone just changed the model name. No big deal. I can also name my phone anything that I want.
I bought my phone on ebay, which comes with AT&T rom. However, baseband and pda version is the same as jojosilvera. When I check online it seems that device is from Israel where KitKat update hasn't been released there (wtf). So I don't know what to do.

It does say SGH-I337. But since it's different in baseband I can't update the phone neither using Kios or on-fly AT&T updater. Any ideas?

Flash with Odin.
That was something I wanted to avoid. The seller offered me a return. Why would untouched firmware would be like this? Should I return it when I have the chance or just root & flash with another ROM? Thanks btw

Hi ,
Just go to
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/
Select the official firmware you want ( UK or your country) follow instructions given
Example
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/3/?download=34317
Model: GT-I9505
Model name: GALAXY S4 LTE
Country: United Kingdom
Version: Android 4.4.2
Changelist: 2309103
Build date: Wed, 23 Jul 2014 10:16:57 +0000
Product Code: BTU
PDA: I9505XXUGNG8
CSC: I9505BTUGNG2
MODEM: I9505XXUGNG8
Instructions
Extract (unzip) the firmware file
Download Odin v3.09
Extract Odin zip-file
Open Odin v3.09
Reboot phone in Download Mode (press and hold Home + Power + Volume Down buttons)
Connect phone and wait until you get a blue sign in Odin
Add the firmware file to AP / PDA
Make sure re-partition is NOT ticked
Click the start button, sit back and wait a few minutes
In the case above , after you flash it if you wish to gain root again towelroot will not work (yet) so if you root knox bit will be trip , maybe is already tripped as you have a custom rom now
I've already downloaded this firmware I9505XXUBMGA (4.2.2) : Stock GT-i9505 ROM from sammobile. Can I use this firmware. And then updated it afterwards ota or from kies?

Hi ,
It depends in what firmware you had last , if you had 4.2.2 you can , if you had 4.3 or 4.4.2 yon can not , odin will not let you downgrade
Once you flash stock firmware and your status is stock you can upgrade from kies or ota
