Yep let the rage post start.... /rollseyes
FYI it's not only Samsung that's pulls this
IBL
It wont be released here so why does it matter?
From the Article:
"It might be a few months before this updated variant is released since the Snapdragon 810 is not completely ready for mass production yet"
So a few months before it hits Korea (their home market) and then it would be at least a few months more before it hits the US Market which puts us all they way back to next summer. This doesn't matter at all. By the time it would land here we will all be looking at the Note 5
Are people acually whining about this?LMFAOOOOO! One thing I learned over the years is that it doesn't matter how fast your processor is...in terms of multi tasking and heavy gaming, yes. But speeds? Nope! You could be having a snapdragon 810 but if your service sucks. Your speeds will to...moral of the story...it's up to who you got with. I got a BEAST phone...yet my uncles AQUA from sprint destroys my note 4 in speed tests. 25MBPS compared to my 1Mbps speeds...that I quote tmobile says it's "normal". Cha right. If my speeds don't improve by March I'm leaving tmobile for a different carrier
"fighting as one hand one heart, one soul. We will shatter their dreams and haunt their nightmares"
who's gonna be next for the High school rage post?
Me me me
BAD ASS NOTE 4
As one of the few that felt the update over n2, provided by the Note 3, was vastly overstated, I feel that hardware technology surprised the consumer needs several generations ago. At this point, manufacturers base their profits on how effective they are at fooling the public into believing improvements to hardware specs will translate into increased performance and productivity. This, of course, is a sizeable variation of the truth. The truth is that the greatest performance gains come from increases optimization and productivity gains from software development.
One thing that does make me a little jealous is that it's 64bit. I have gotten over having the latest and greatest.... Sorta Stuck with my Note 2 for 2 years. That says something, right?
Its called marketing.
Play with what ya got let's see what the future holds.
BAD ASS NOTE 4
Just wait for it
As much as it IS nice to have the 810 instead of 805. I'm quite pleased and happy with my Note 4's 805. Really though, the 810 is still quite new and until 64-bit becomes more popular or is forced to be included and optimized by Google or the app developers themselves, I don't see much of the benefit from the 810. I'll give it a few more cycles with the 64-bit until going with it. Though I can see the advantage with the instruction set that comes with the 64-bit processors though. Now those updates are something that is beneficial but I'll wait and see how much of a difference it makes between the two instruction sets (v7 vs v8 I think or something like that, PLZ HELP).
And now the bad news: similar to the Galaxy S5 LTE-A, this beefed-up version of the Galaxy Note 4 will hardly make it outside South Korea, where it's currently being tested by several of the largest local carriers - LG+, SKT, and Olleh. The Snapdragon 810-powered phablet will most probably debut after the*Galaxy S6*debuts
---------- Post added at 08:40 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:39 AM ----------
The tmobile note 4 wins.
Even, if we move to Korea. There still wouldn't be good roms.
I thought Samsung was going to start to produce less smartphones a year??? That doesn't seem to happen

That's IT. Nexus Prime I'm coming
If Nexus Prime comes to TMO, isn't it likely to also not have Exynos for the same 42 Mbps reason?
What I'm thinking is while it's unfortunate, it's not the end of the world. I'm more curious to see if it's got that damned Yamaha DAC, or if they wised up and went back to Wolfson.
Since I'm not eager to switch off of TMO just yet, unless the Nexus does come to TMO, I'm likely to get the SGS2/Hercules.
I really have been looking forward to the SGSII exynos proc....I probably wont be getting hercules for a multitude of reasons (mainly money) I would still get it if i could just to work on a kernel for it, but I would really prefer exynos vs anything else. Mainly because the Mali-400MP has significantly higher texture performance (lower geometry, but texture matters more for current loads)
Deal breaker. Well I was waiting for an ICS device anyway..which would be media prime

Sprint coverage and 3G speeds too terrible/slow for me, and they're virtually guaranteed not to improve that at any decent rate.
As terrible as AT&T is, I may have to leave T-Mobile for them and get an iPhone or something that allows me to get a 4GB data plan because I really need 3G coverage, and they put up a new tower right near here earlier this year.
But that's fine. They're getting all the good phones these days it seems, anyways...
for people who cant just walk up and leave tmobil like me. Ill still be getting the hercules because hands down its the best phone hands down by tmobil.
2 questions about the Prime:
1. on all different android/tech sites I keep seeing people say they will wait for the Prime...not that it is a bad idea, but its supposed to be made by samsung, so if tmobile gets it, wont they just do the same thing with the CPU? What Cpu is the Prime rumored to have?
2. It seems every android site i go to people are saying to pass this up for the Prime "in a couple/few weeks" It seems people are sure its coming to Tmobile and sure its coming in just a couple weeks. I keep seeing that as if its a fact....
I will probably wait to see the prime too, im just saying it seems like people are 100% sure of its specs, that it is coming to Tmobile, and that it is only a couple of weeks out...I dont see the manufactures that are releasing the GS2 (3 major except Verizon), releasing a nexus prime/droid/samsung prime within just a couple weeks of releasing the GS2....
any thoughts? Im not hating, i just want to be clued in as to why everyone is so sure its coming to Tmobile, in a few weeks and what CPU it will have???
I would wait and see. Supposedly the next nexus is 1,5 dual core ti omap 4460 and an overclocked powergx vr 540 or whatever its called. Its hard to say what to wait for. I want to see how well the phone handles with higher resolution and if the battery life is there. The latest tech nology is always a waiting game and there is something better around the corner always. Plus, i also want to see what moto brings to the table. I plan on getting a phone by december, and it is my intention, seriously, to have this next device for two years+.

relating this to my question right above, assuming the nexus prime is a samsung phone, I thought most people wanted the samsung exynos processor in it; which is why many are disappointed by the Hercules not getting it...?
So i don't know anything about the ti processor you are referring to, but how is it supposed to compare to the samsung exynos processor? I guess im am just confused that we all wanted the exynos on the hercules, but are ok that it is not rumored to be in the nexus prime?
It's almost retarded, this choice of them. I don't need to download stuff at 4.5 MB/s at all times, but I need to have a fast and responsive device with a nice energy management at absolutely all times. 21 Mbps on a f'ing phone is already overkill.

I personally am waiting for the n3. It wont have the 42 down but ill never see past the 21 so I'm fine.
Hmmm, just thought about it, maybe that's why they changed this soc, to have some type of selling point to "people who don't know better" once the prime comes out?

Well, it seems as if it is time to move on from my amazing Vibrant. I have had this for about a year now and it has been my best and favorite phone to date. The devs have been amazing, and everyone on these forums have been fantastic as well.
This isn't a good by, just curious to see if any of you are moving on, and what your thoughts are on it? I would love to see some Team Whiskey on the Hercules, some CM7 love (thats a given), and even some Einherjar Dev's on the new phone.
So what do you say? Will i be seeing more of you in the near future?
Not to the SGS2.
I'm waiting for the Google/Samsung conference event next week and that will decide that. If Verizon is gonna have the exclusivity on the Prime for more than 6 months, I will pick up an HTC Amaze 4G. If not, I will wait 1-3 months and get the one phone to rule them all- Nexus Prime.
T-mobile's SGS2 is a tad outdated in its camera department, screen resolution, and audio output. It's a nice phone but the Amaze 4G is just a hair better imo due to it's back-lit illuminated camera. Nexus prime...well that's nexus prime. Obliterates every phone is just about every department.
I'm quite happy with my Vibrant for now though. CM7 themed beautifully and incredible usability coupled with 1.5Ghz CPU, 1800mah Samsung genuine battery, 32GB microSD +16 internal for 48GB total, audiophile-grade audio out, and impressive screen and form factor? Sorry but this phone is just now at its full potential and I see no reason to upgrade. 3400 Quadrants and no lag anywhere.
iPhone 4S or Nexus Prime, depending on Coverage and Price. I'm leaning towards the iPhone because the Battery Life is great, iCloud is good, and they have a better ecosystem than Google.
However, the rumored hardware in the Nexus Prime is enticing. If it's on T-Mobile, though... I'm gonna have to pass. Dunno why Google keeps launching Nexus phones on T-Mobile. They have the worst coverage of hte 4 carriers, by far.
I'm moving in a few weeks, so I'll have to wait and see how it all pans out...

Coverage depends where you at. Also T-Mobile is developer friendly. Cyanogen and his team have gotten free phones and tablets to develop on for t-mobile. I don't know what your talking about but Google cloud system is far superior than icloud. Battery life will always be great on a device that can only take low speed 3g. Hspa+,LTE,Wiimax all use higher bandwidth than. Which cause more battery drain. To be specific T-Mobile coverage on the east side is better than at&t and Sprint coverage. On the west aide at&t is has better coverage. Also Verizon has the best coverage all around but be ready to pay an arm and a leg.

Sprint has bad service and doesn't really penetrate walls Hspa+ speeds get the same as wimax speeds. Not to mention T-Mobile has lower ping speeds as well. Let's not mention that if your phone breaks you need to buy a new phone instead of just switching sim cards. This phone is also fully aws compatible. As for throttling I never reached the cap to be throttle and all my apps sync every 5 minutes. Unless your tether all day and streaming YouTube or some video app you never reach it.

The future looks very bright for Samsung. They have Cyanogen on board now which means more source code releases from Sammy and early CM8 release for Galaxy S2. Sammy has better hardware, better screen than HTC and thinner form factor. Im getting the S2 on Oct 12th.
I love the Nexus Prime too but apparently its a Verizon only release (which is why they dont have a Galaxy S2 model) and I dont want to wait 6 months for a GSM version to be released. Also there is word that Ice Cream Sandwich release is being pushed back.
I think I'm gonna wait for the prime. The Hercules seems great with a beefed up cpu but i can see driver problems in the future.
I wanted to get the Samsung Note but that seems that it will only come to at&t.
I don't see myself leave Tmobile anytime soon due to I use over 5g of data a month, I live in the east cost so all networks are about the same, also free tehrering and sum card switching.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
I'm going to be moving on to the next Nexus device, especially if it ends up on Verizon. I have been loyal to T-Mo for a loooong time, but as much as I travel, I need a network that is faster in more places (I spend a lot of time wishing I even had EDGE). I already have a VZW MiFi, and I depend on it. Running CM7 with no WiFi Calling can often leave me in the dust on cell reception.
I've always been a fan of Samsung hardware, but I'm not a fan of Touchwiz and the speed of updates. Not just from Samsung, but any manufacturer that is applying their own framework to the mix. I really, really enjoy tinkering with things, and if there's one thing I've learned from my Vibrant (which is my first Android phone) it's that not having a pure Google phone really hinders the process.
That said, if Verizon gets an ACTUAL Nexus device (pure Google) with LTE, then I'll move on over. If not, I'll cross my fingers and hope T-Mobile gets it like they always do and I'll just stay put. Swapping to AT&T or Sprint isn't in the equation, even if they somehow were the only one's with the "Prime". I won't swap if LTE isn't in the equation since here, locally, T-Mobile beats the pants off of EVDO in the speed department.
I honestly believe that people put to much hype into phone specs. No one can tell the difference between processors or much of anything else under the hood. It's fun to talk about and I enjoy geeking out about it all, but hardware changes every 6 months anyway. If you're buying a device based purely on hardware specs, you'll always be disappointed when the next thing comes out 3 months later.
i'll probably kill any one at the store to get one on the release date
okay... kill is a bit overboard, but a would not mind pushing people aside, or jump on them to get it muahahahahaha

This is NOT the N7000, correct?
ALL LTE Notes are Snapdragon based. There is no way around.
Is the snap dragon really that lame? I mean unless in gaming i doubt anyone can tell the difference...
I guess the next question is, with the i717 coming to North America, what will the development be like for that device?
Do carriers do this on purpose - do they not realize that a smartphone is a computer with special io? That with something as complex as a computer - we want standards - so we can upgrade, fix, build-upon, write instructions for, build a community around, and understand our systems. We needed one note, not 15 variants - that works for toasters but not for mobile computer systems. I am in Canada but bought a international Note for this reason.
At some point you would hope this hold on tech by the carriers goes down. I ask my students, would they buy a BMW at a much reduced rate ( rather than just taking out a loan and owning it) if they signed a contract where they were forced to buy brand expensive gas for it from one station, could on drive it on certain highways - all with tolls, that others with that car and those highways all had different deals where some were being charged differently, others could on be on the highway at night, where the company was allow to change the engine, take out components, rebrand the color and name and logo, put on cheaper tires and put in devices to spy on you. Of course not.
Always wondered why the carriers are so controlling in NA. Look how many variants of the S and S2 there were?
How come this does not apply to Apple? is it because the carriers believe it to be so drool worthy to not bother with an iPhone 4S Fascinate or whatever, or Apple simply says you want that stuff you.
In EU, there is one Note, 1 S, 1 S2, works across the whole place, base code is the same aside from languages, etc.
Is it the carriers, is it a cultural thing, or something else?
Cheer,
This is exactly what Steve Jobs meant by fragmentation. Why do we need so many variants? Why do we have so many versions of Android firmware? So many versions that no one can even tell how one is different than another.
What a **** thing to do to such a sweet device.....Crapdragon should be done away with period.....this is old tech that even their newest version does stray from its roots. But with the longevity of a phones life at this point I don't think anyone gives a crap anymore. Samsung sure has a way of beating down great devices though.

People in the USA want CHEAP, so the carriers figured out a way to lock
them in (cut down the churn rate), and offer them a "good deal". People
see the price of a phone as 500 bucks....BBBBUUUUUUTTTTTT, if you sign
a 2 year contract, we'll let you have it for 49.99. Idiot consumers, who have
no idea of economics, think they are screwing the carriers by getting a phone
for 50 bucks not thinking that if it was a bad deal for the carriers, why would
they do it....similar to people thinking they can go go Vegas & clean up, not
thinking how those multimillion dollar hotels get built & how they can offer the
food, drinks, rooms for free or reduced rates.

I'm not sure this has anything to do with a subsidized pricing....and more to do with the fact that LTE and Snapdragon are work together with no problems.....I have read that the Exynos does fine with LTE but at this point all the high end LTE phones are getting it. Maybe there is a reason that the processor/network pairing is becoming redundant.
As far as subsidized phones the AT&T SGS2 is essentially the same device as the international....and 200 subsidized.....549 to buy it outright is not exactly a drop in the bucket for some and higher end devices on Verizon are now 300 subsidized. Also the other networks that got lower end versions did so to accommodate their network. Not saying your theory is wrong.....but I'm not convinced its about the cost as much as I am about the fact that each carrier in the US wants their own version of everything....and to the general public there isn't even a difference as long as the names the same. Look at the first round of Galaxy phones.

ACTUALLY the adrenno 220 which is in the s3 chipset is just slightly better than the Mali 400 which is In the exynos chipset.
Technically gaming should and probably will be better. Daily operation will also most likely be the same. Only thing I could see being a potential problem is 1080p playback.

Heres my bottom line: exynos is great, s3 is good. So fwiw I don't think calling any variation of the Gnote crap is fair.
It seems to me also my dhd runs great on its s2 chip to this day. Just saying.

Any link to that debate? I would like to read about it..

reason for north america's note being different is the exynos cpu doesnt do LTE *next gen is said to support LTE though*
therefor they had to change it up because carriers here are boner hungry over LTE lately.
ill keep my n7000.

Here ya go....its a typical case of benchmark vs. real world.....Adrenno wins then Mali more powerful....then read Anandtechs review that says the Mali is the most powerful beast ever.....and then they list a bunch of weaknesses....??????.....but keep reading because then they start saying its untouchable again....then if your still thirsty just start clicking every link you come across....nothing is one sided....other than benchmarks that are said not to matter for both phones...?????....I will find more links and update....

Not close - won't fit in a normal pocket, 56% larger based on overall measurements, weighs 36% more, non-replaceable battery. Fail as Aria replacement. May be a great phone, but much too large.
Wouldn't the HTC One V be a more suitable replacement?
With the X, you might as well be carrying around a tablet in your pocket.
I wasn't talking about it being a similar phone, ha. Just a phone that I like enough to replace the aria. Probably should have clarified

On one hand, I think I'm eligible for an upgrade in late May, but as nice as the One X looks I can't justify buying it, given how crippled it is compared to the international version. Half the internal memory (even if all 16GB were free it wouldn't hold my music collection) and a dual-core Snapdragon instead of a quad-core Tegra 3. LTE doesn't matter too much to me, since we don't even have 3G around where I live, and the college I go to has campus-wide WiFi and city-wide WiMAX for the laptops.
The X seems way to big as a phone for me. It definitely has some powa! I've had the aria for almost a year and a half now and I'm so use to having a small phone. I have to wait till next January for next grade. ouch hopefully a quad core sized aria will be made.

I'd prefer the dual-core Snapdragon over the quad-core Tegra 3. More cores does not always mean better.
Ive used the Note for some time so I think Ill be able to adjust xD. I think its probably my next upgrade. Either this or the new SGS3.
I had the oppurtunity to play with the one x at my local att store today they let have a sneak peak at it before it goes on display tomorrow and I have to say for being 4.7 screen it was surprisingly comfortable in my hand and fit quite easily into my pocket almost less noticeable then my aria. Its unlike any HTC phone before very light and thin. The screen was stunning and it was fast and smooth. I'm pretty much sold on this phone unless the may 3rd announcement in London about the details of the new sg3 is truly note worthy I'll be picking the one x up. As far as the quad vs the dual debate goes I've following a thread where an xda member has quad and just received the rogers one x which will be the same as the att version and in just about every bench mark he has done the duel core out performed the quad. He also felt that the duel just seems better in real world use.

The s4 outperforms the tegra 3 in almost every test. Its not the number of cores but the architecture that counts.

And for $199, It's a steal! I'd be a fool not to get it. I have been due for an upgrade since this month. I am 100% sold on this phone. I try not to think about it though because my nerves get the best of me. It's so long until the sixth!
Perfect time too because the Aria is really starting to show its age. Once I upgrade, the Aria will be a dedicated GPS.
Yea the $199 is def a great price for this beast

Just pre-ordered this baby this morning! Will arrive at my doorstep on the fourth! The Aria forums are a wonderful community, and I can only hope that the One X forums are even half as friendly!
Saw an article today saying there was a promotion at AT&T to get it for $149. I definitely agree that the dual-core is better for "real world" use over the Tegra 3.
Unfortunately for AT&T and HTC, I am going to be switching to Verizon when the SGS3 comes out, unless it is just a complete bust, which I really don't see happening. Verizon has a far more widespread LTE network and much better customer service. I think it's funny how AT&T advertises that their LTE network is faster, but fails to mention that there are far fewer LTE users on their network than Verizon. If AT&T had the LTE traffic that Verizon does, there is no way they would have faster speeds. *steps down from soap box*
Edit: Throwing this out there...I bet the SGS3 gets root and full CM9 support in less time from its release date than the One X. Any takers?

Oh no doubt! SGS has quite a following! And I would totally be on that boat, however I am not about to wait around for six months for the phone.
I have an sgs2 skyrocket but am eyeing that one x very hard. I miss the build quality of hTc. Samsung just doesn't feel as good in the hand.

HTC Build quality is def top notch. Sammy phones have thin plastic, but that wouldn't bother me as I will always use a case...so it wouldn't feel too cheep.

You really think it will be 6 months from now until carriers offer it? I was thinking it would become available in June sometime.

+1 October to November release probably.
Note: thread title is not exactly true but to some extent.
I'm angered by Samsung release S3 LTE i9305 which made my current i9300 seem old and less advanced. I don't want to argue if 2GB RAM or LTE is necessary but it's obvious that i9305 is better version. Even the upcoming Note2 comes with 2GB RAM and better software (new gallery, etc) than S3. It's now a fact that S3 i9300 no longer the best phone of samsung after less than 4months...
One of the reason why I'm so angry is due to their sale tactics. I think samsung tactics and marketing are dirty. They seem to be very well planned and executed. Here's what they do in these few months in Singapore...
30 May: S3 16GB (White, Blue) launched at SGD$998.
28 July: This is when I got my S3
25 Aug: S3 32GB (White, Blue) launched at SGD$998. 16GB version reduced to SGD$898.
Why reduce the price of 16GB version?
1 Sept: S3 (Red) launched.
13 Sept: S3 LTE 16GB (White, Grey) announced with JB preloaded, coming end of Sept at SGD$998. JB coming to i9300 in Oct.
It's the same day as iPhone 5 keynote here in Singapore, samsung must have planned and decided to announce on this day. The price is same as i9300 first launch?! and we only getting JB in Oct, way after S3 LTE released?!
20 Sept: Market price check on S3 16GB, SGD$790. Resale value is pathetic
22 Sept: S3 (Brown) launch.
I felt that...
Samsung tricked us buying their best smartphone and then trolled us by releasing better variant/version.
They just to want get more sales without caring and benefiting us the early i9300 adopters.
What do you think?
My phone still works so I don't care.

You better be trolling, please tell me you are. Do you really think that any phone will stay number 1 of the production line for even a year these days? 6 months today and a phone is considered "old" by some people's standards.
There's no denying the i9300 is still an awesome phone, though!
There is always a new phone, why bother. If I wanted an iPhone Ive bouth an iPhone. Read as a new release twise a year...

I hate threads like this. Are you saying Samsung should sit on this new phone so you feel better? Technology moves along just below the speed of light and it can make your stomach queezy! If you can't handle it, don't play the game! Your phone still works exactley the same as the day you bought it!
Someone doesn't know how fast technology moves, if you want a phone, that will be the best the company has made for at least 1 year, buy an iPhone, things in the Android world move fast, and always will.
There has to be reason they decided to have 2GB RAM in the 4g enabled S3, I would expect it will be using over 1GB RAM out of the box, then you install things and it will go up fast.
4g and 2GB of RAM is all that makes it better than the I9300, yes its more technologically advanced because of the 4g, however when the I9300 was released it was still up in the air as to whether 4g (at least in UK) would be rolled out by EE, one complaint could have pushed it back so Samsung's this was Samsung's only option, I for one would hate them making a phone with a 4g chip in if EE's rollout was slowed down, it pushes the price up for no reason.
You wanted the latest and greatest as soon as it came out it's not Samsung's fault it's yours... get over it.
OP is a spoiled self entitled idiot. Technology advances quickly. Wake up. End of story.
What's stopping you from selling your sgs3 and buying the updated one? If you're locked into a 2 year contract then that's your own fault. When you signed that contract you will have already known you wouldn't upgrade for 2 years. Did you expect time to stand still for the next 24 months too?
I'm planning to sell my sgs3 and replace it with the note 2 unless something better is coming out soon. I'm not angry. I'm not even slightly annoyed. Get over it.
Of course they care about sales! They are a business!

Yes, I hope Samsung never release a better phone so mine will always be the best. I heard the SGS4 will be dual core and have 512mb ram..

I'm not stupid, I knew better phones were gonna come along while I own my i9300 but nothing's gonna be that much better in the space of 4 months.
So I'm not gonna be one of those who's obsessed with making sure people know I have the best phone all the time and buying something new every few months simply because it's better.
And I honestly think the S3 is so good that the S4 really is only gonna be a tiny step up and I'll be keeping this until 4G comes out on Three Mobile UK.

In 6 months, the OP'd be talking about the 2GB SIII like he's talking about this one now. Technology doesn't stop because you can't or refuse to keep up.
