none of the sensors are working - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi.
Don't exactly know what happened. Phone froze. I did long press reboot and since then loudspeaker sound is distorted and none of the sensors are working (proximity, light, gyro etc). Does anyone have any ideas? I tried wiping and flashing various ROMs - same results

Same problem here. Automatic screen dimming not working, screen rotation not functioning, display keeps disabled after calls, …
I don't have much fun using this device at the moment I would appreciate if someone could help me to get rid of this problem.

[Q] Unresponsive buttons & screen during and after call

I have tried multiple Android builds but all of them give the same problem.
Everything in Android works great except when receiving a call or calling.
The call is fine, but all buttons and the screen are unresponsive during the call and some time afterwards.
After a while everything is fine again without a reboot.
Sometimes adding a power cord and removing it gives back control as if it resets something.
Anyone experience similar issues and found a cure?
It's the light sensor, I've read that it can be disabled but I don't know how, just put yer phone under a very bright light source and u will be back up and running

Display goes off during a call and doesn't come back

Hi,
I have Xperia arc S. Recently it is behaving in a crazy way during a phone call.
when I call or I receive a call, and put the phone on my ear, the sensor works and get the display off which is normal... but what is not normal, is that many times the screen keeps off and It doesn't get back on.
It's more happening when I am outdoor.... and in many times I need to remove the battery to get it working again.
does any one face the same behavior? any suggestions?
Thanks alot,
I used to have the same problem. It's normally one of two things, either the sensor is obscured(eg some cases, or it's greasy) or low ram. If it's the sensor then it would be pretty obvious, with the ram issue then you can try a ram cleaner from the market, or a ram management app/script, or a custom rom(these all need a rooted phone, with a custom rom/kernel you'll probably need your bootloader unlocked).

I have the same problem. I haven't found a solution, but in my case the screen will return when the call ends. I found an option in the phone to use the power button to end a call. That allows me to end a call when the screen won't activate. I can then push the middle button and the screen comes on.
I have investigated the sensor suggestion, but I don't think that is it. The screen will work perfectly in normal light conditions, but has problems in either low light conditions or outside when it is very bright. I don't think the latter case would be an issue if it was due to a blocked sensor. It is more like the software not being able to distinguish a change in light level either due to insufficient light or being overloaded by too much light. I had hoped 4.0 would fix it, but it hasn't.
Are you on a Custom ROM?
Or tweaked the autobrightness with a tool?
I only had this issue when i was on a Custom ROM that had bugs...
So if its official ROM, try wiping it...
Otherwise it could be just a bug of your rom, and you need to get an update if available
I think its a bug on stock ICS 4.0.4 because I had this problem too and only pulling out a battery would fix this. This happened to me only on pure stock unmodified ICS.
try another Rom, i guess it is your rom's bug

[Q] Can't disable proximity sensor - help needed

My HD2 (with this ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=769026 ) has proximity sensor problems (it constantly detects 0cm distance) and the screen doesn't wake up after call. After spending 3 hours trying to fix it I realised I couldn't (I'm not confident enough to open the phone and try cleaning it) and I just want to desable whatsoever.
Unfortunately, I tried these methods:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1626611
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1683884
and neither of them is working. Please tell me if there's other way to stop it :?
Sanity does work - it can enable my screen when the call is over, but during call my phone is totally unusable - i can't write notes for example. That's why I'm trying to desable the proximity sensor turning off the phone in the first place.
Any ideas will be appreciated!
p.s. I didn't try reinstalling the Rom, as it was working perfectly and this issue only appeared after not using the phone for a while.

[Q] Can't hangup or use buttons in call (cmod 11)

Hi everyone,
I've got a used LG G2 with a broken display that I just replaced. Everything works with CyanogenMod 11 20140708-snapshot-m8-d802 (4.4.4), except for the dialer which acts up weird.
When I place or receive a call, the display turns black, and it doesn't come on again when I remove it from the face - seems like the light detector isn't working. I can turn on the diplay by using the power button though. Here another problem araises; I can't use any of the button on the dialer screen. I can't hang up, I can't enable the speakphone or show the numberpad. I haven't done any modding expect for installing a new rom and wiping the previous users' data.
Any ideas?

Sorry. I have the exact same problem. Began on PA 4.4.4+ and now back to stock and still does not work. Have you figured it out? Seems like a problem with the proximity sensor and no way to turn it off. Frustrating.
Sorry to hear that I ended up fixing it by hard resetting my phone with the software provieded by LG. I haven't installed a new custom rom since - instead I use the LG rom and customize it with the Xposed framework and the G2 Settings module. It works great, except for some random update notifications from the LG app store from time to time.
Not really a the solution that I has looking for, but now I can use the phone as it was intended. Please keep me updated if you come about some other workaround.

[Q] Capacitive Buttons Unresponsive

My capacitive buttons were working fine when I recieved my device three weeks ago, then the other day they decided just to stop all together. Not lighting up and not responding to touch input. The weird thing is they work when you touch them with the S-pen, they still don't light up but they work only with the S-pen.
I did a hard reset on the device still no luck I have tried everything, does anyone else have any suggestion before I send it back or has heard of the note 4 having issues with the capacitive buttons. To just stop functioning altogether, I know there are some sensitivity issues but haven't heard of them just not working.
If you have any suggestions I would appreciate your responses
Cheers

Solved it by going to settings, display, touch keys light and set it to always on then restart the phone. Mine worked, then i just restore the original 1.5 seconds. Hope this helps.
That problem better not persist again, or else, "Houston, we have a problem."
I've seen a pattern where users are reporting, displays, buttons, and hardware not responding. Samsung better get act their together before next big thing arrives.

I am having the exact same issue...however your fix has not helped me. Buttons were working.... suddenly stopped recognizing finger touches, pen works fine on the buttons however.
Ok...got a fix for that that worked for me...I had to enable and then disable ultra power mode. My buttons are working again after device was back in normal mode.... hopefully nobody else encounters this problem...but if you do...try ultra power saving mode.
