Rooted S5 - applied /system/etc/permissions/platform.xml fixup (media group rw added). Some apps seem to be fine when accessing the SD card, while Camera ZOOM FX continues refusing to take an SD card directory as its repository of pictures. Anybody else with this issue, having figured out a solution?

Recently got a new Samsung GT P6800. Rooted it and installed CWR. Till yesterday I was able to view thumbnails of jpeg files in the SD card through gallery app. I transferred some jpeg files to my SD card, but it didn't show up. Now I cannot access any of the jpeg images in the external card. I can however open with Astro or gallery by going directly to the file. Any help in solving this problem will be much appreciated...
And when taking a picture the photo will save to internal. My Files seems to recognize the folder but not the gallery app
Download solid explorer or another 3rd party file explorer when you try to open a file on the EXSD card it will ask you to set up some permission in "myfiles" once you do that the gallery app will recognize the SD card. No idea why but I had to do this to get it to work as well.
Hi
OK, so this is my question: I just installed LineageOS 15.0 on my XT1685 . And when I was using the stock ROM (N), I used my SD card to store pictures, videos, etc. After installing O, this option seemed to have disappeared for some reason. First, I couldn't get to choose save location from the stock camera app that came with the Gapps ( https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=817550096634797336 ). Then I tried installing Open Camera, but then I got this issue with not being able to write to the SD card (see attachment).
At this point my SD card was formatted as "portable". And I just could NOT get Oreo to understand that I wanted to use it as a default for storing pictures and video. After a while I gave up, and re-formatted as "internal". Which basicly means that now the phone's storage and the external storage are kinda "integrated" in a way.. the SD has become a part of a greater whole..
Which leads me to my actual question...:
Why is it that I could not get it to work as it did on Nougat - as portable, basicly..
And also; how to get around this?
Just to be clear, this is a general Android question (I think), NOT a question specific to the Lineage ROM (which is awesome btw, imo!)
Thanks,
- H
I have AOSP Extend Oreo on my g5+. I put open camera on my phone and was able to store pics on the SD card. However, it stopped working and won't store pics at all. I installed the native moto camera app, but it won't let me store pics to the SD card. I'm hoping someone can provide some assistance.
I am on stock Oreo and I currently use my SD as portable. Formatting the sd as Internal eventually led to 3 different corrupted sd cards after some time, so, if your problem is not software-related, try to stick to formatting the card as portable storage.
I only know a part of the problem, which is happening to me too: a while after restarting the phone, I open my SD card in any file manager (I have Total Commander) and it doesn't show any file but both the file manager and the system shows the Sd card's occupied and free spaces, and I've had to dismount and remount the SD card in order to be able to get to any file or folder of it, but several minutes later the files become impossible to access again.
is there any way to change storage location of Gcam Mod in to sd card.??
I don't think, cause Pixel/Nexus haven't SDCard slot and maybe it's not implemented on Google Camera
I recommend this application
The application works well, you set the point from where to
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gonext.automovetosdcard
Gallery Not Showing Ext SD Card Photos from non-DCIM folders
Storage permission = ON
Attempted Methods:
Unmount -> Remount
Unmount -> Remove card -> Remount
Restart Phone
Clear Cache
Force Close -> Clear Cache -> Delete App Storage (Gallery App)
The gallery will not show any files other than ones in the DCIM folder taken by the built-in camera.
Gallery will not show any photos from any other folders (without .nomedia file) from the Ext-SD Card
Tested another 3rd party gallery app, which shows the photos, but don't support HEIC photo format
Please help!

Yes, it does. It only shows the photos on the Ext-SD Card which were taken by the Camera but nothing else.
I can even open ANY Ext-SD Card files in Gallery if it's called upon from a file manager.

When I get home in a few hours I'll pull my SD out throw some photos on it from my PC and see if my gallery can see them.
I just put a jpeg on the root of my SD card and it shows up fine in my gallery.
Sorry I couldn't help more.

On the contrary you discovered a new clue,
Following your test, I replicated storing on root, and Gallery indeed shows the photos.
Basically Gallery is only cataloging photos from new folders on the SD Card.
This means clearing the Gallery app data and cache is not clearing everything as it's still able to selectively exclude folders it thinks must be excluded.
I don't have an issue - I am able to see all existing and new folders and or images that are on my EXT SD Card as well as those on the device. No issues at all that I Can see.
